San Luis Inn and Suites

Property owners run this property for as cheap as they possibly can, so don't expect anything besides the bare minimum. That being said, room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Disappointed that heated pool is advertised but not available -- misrepresentation. Bring your own pillow, the ones in the room aren't great. And bring conditioner for your hair, not provided. Shower made a terrible squeaking noise but water pressure was good. Overall, pleased with my stay. However, not worth the $100 I paid per night. If getting for $50/night, it's worth it.

The rooms were updated nicely, but, the wall heater/ac unit was still a refugee from the 1960's. The baseboards had some staining. The largish window in the shower was clear glass. Otherwise, the parking lot between the actual rooms and Santa Rosa Rd helped keep the road noise down considerably.

Very clean. Newly remodeled. Pool is small but did not use and is clean and well maintained. Recommend.

This inn is a life saver with a great price. A certain terrible inn in Morro Bay with paper thin walls and creaky wooden floors *cough* Morro Crest Inn *cough*, excuse me I coughed, threaten us with police because us settling in was “too loud” according to management. Unlike that unmentionable inn in Morro Bay, the staff at San Luis Inn and Suites accepted us after 11pm at night with no where to go. I’m delighted with their accommodating nature and thicker walls to block out even the noisy street outside. The carpet was comfortable and didn't make noise. The check in time was quick, and we we able to settle in for a peaceful night of rest. There was damage on one part of the base board that had wires viable. Some furniture is old and a little wore. Despite this, I hope they will repair that base board on room 213 to cover the wire. It wasn’t a big deal for me. My experience over all was delightful, as I woke up rested and refreshed for another day at vacation thanks to this inn. If you need a place to stay with an accommodating staff and a cozy room for an affordable price, please go to the San Luis Inn and Suite. I cannot stress how much that inn made the next day unforgettable because I was rested and ready for fun. (There's also a pool, but I just needed to rest. It looked maintained well though.)

There was ample parking and the sheets were clean. However, the shower leaked, and dripped all over the floor, causing a slip hazard. The "clean" washcloth had black stains on it. The wall paper was peeling in the bathroom and the room floor needed to be mopped.

The hotel was comfortable and quiet just enough parking for every visitor.

It's a small quaint place. It appears they're working on touching up the place and the rooms. My son who is always nervous about staying at hotel/motel; he was relaxed and was not so anxious. The pool is very small. We didn't get a chance to use the pool with our schedule. The pool and the area around it was clean.

I booked this room due to a low price I saw on Expedia and the room was noisy, next to the freeway, the bed was soft so my back hurt, no coffee pot in the room or iron. I reserved and it was one price and my bill showed another price. It was almost double what it said when I booked the room and there was a property fee. I don't know what that was for, not to heat the cold pool.

While on my way to the property they called me and told me I had to be there by 10pm, which driving 6 hours I said I couldn’t be sure because traffic, and she said again, by 10pm and hung up. Then got to the property just before 10pm, the gentlemen at the front was very short with us. Got to the room, and we were in shock. I’ve never seen a place so dirty. Cigarette burns on the bedding, fluid stains all over the walls, and the smell….. we didn’t even sleep in the bed, we slept on top of the blankets because they were so gross. Oh, and the mold in the bathroom. We woke up early and left. I can not believe they would allow people to rent rooms so dirty and disgusting. I would avoid at all costs.

The staff was friendly and efficient. The room may have been the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in at any level. It isn’t luxurious, but it is tidy and comfortable. Only critique would be to change the soap/shampoo in the bathroom as mine had started to separate. It was not a big deal at all, though. I would definitely stay again and advise anyone else looking for a reasonably priced, clean and safe place to stay near Cal Poly to considered giving it a shot.

The place is filthy. Our room smelled so bad..like it was cleaned with urine. We got there at 11:30pm at night and we already knew that check out is at 11am, the manager just came and opened the door at 11:05am and rusely said we need to get out. It was very rude of him to do that. Our room was so damaged and patched up. The shower had fungus/mildew..i dont recommend this place.

The room was ok, everything seemed somewhat clean. Some issues I noticed were the sink was slow, water would hardly drain. And the bed sheets didn’t seem clean at all, there appeared to be hairs between every layer. It wasn’t the worst but I probably won’t stay here again.

It was awful. WiFi didn’t work. Bed was lumpy. It was dirty. Paint chipped everywhere. Bulbs were burned out. The whole place was shabby. I paid $208 for one night.

Clean and well kept

Poor condition room, dirty and unfriendly staff. Price is affordable but bed was decent but do yourself a favor and stay at the local motel 6 if on a budget.

Was better and bigger than I expected. The king size bed and pillows were super comfy. The hotel room was bigger than most- had a small table and 2 chairs. The air conditioner was also a hit.

It's adequate. The bed was reasonably comfortable but the bathroom was cramped and there was a tremendous amount of road noise including racing engines and sirens. The manager was quite helpful though, getting me a ground-level room because I can't go up a flight of stairs. If you have a disability, (can't do any steps at all or in a wheelchair) it would be a very difficult or impossible property. It was relatively inexpensive for the area.

The AC is so noisy but bath room is clean!

A/C only blew air not cool air. Goodwill furniture. Cracked sink. Drywall exposed. Wi-Fi had one bar . Maybe “borrowing” the signal from another business? Overall poor BUT would be reasonable and I could deal with it better if they were not charging 4 star prices.

The entrance door for the room I stayed in had a gap big enough that at night you could see the outside light come through the room. I couldn't close the blinds completely to block the outside light either. Other than that it was good.

Property finally fixed it up. It’s very nice. The room is very clean and comfortable but parking to close to room and you can hear outside noise all day and night.

Property is quite old and not updated. Property manager called me on my phone as I was driving down since it was after 8pm - they wanted to insist I got there by 10pm even though I had already paid for the room. Bathroom is the smallest I’ve ever seen - with a toilet and shower it was 5’ x 5’. Walls were almost paper thin so I could hear conversations in the next room.

Great property and stay — only complaint was that the TV guide did not work and the phone did not connect to any dialing tone. Disappointing.

Where should I start… There was no handle on one of the drawers, there were two TVs, because one didn’t work, so they just left the nonworking one on the wall… Then there were stains on the art on the wall. The worst of it came when we were sleeping, I heard a knock, and before I could even get up the owner/manager, who obviously had a master card key, opens the door and then realizes we were there! He ran off. Unbelievable!!

I stayed in room 216, very updated with nice flooring in bed and bath area. Mini fridge, microwave and a newer television in the room. Beds were comfortable, water pressure in the shower was awesome. 9 miles from Pismo and 15 from Morro. Restaurants within walking distance from hotel. It is by the freeway, so some road noises which didn’t bother me. Felt like a safe area. I would definitely stay here again!

the ownership of this place is so rude it’s insane. owner walked into the room while my friend and i were still asleep (taking a nap before checkout) in the bed 15 min BEFORE our checkout time… total invasion of privacy. this was the last straw though, they were extremely abrasive and overall demeanor was extremely disdainful towards paying customers it was truly shocking

Rude owners

The lady at the reception was pretty rude. We have 3 people. The room had 4 bath towels, 2 face cloth and 4 hand towels. I went up to her and ask for one additional hand towel. She said ‘No’. And she ask me how many people do you have. I said 3. And she replied ‘Your room set up for 2’. I said we had 3 people and we paid for 3 people. She said no again. Personally what kind of customer service is this? I didn’t ask for a lot. I only ask for 1 hand towel. Plus there was only 2 full sets of towels. If there was 3 people! I should have 3 sets. This is the first motel that I have stayed that didn’t give towels when you ask. Thumbs down for this place

Very rude front office- tv did not work. Card did not work and when I went back to the front office she scolded me for ringing the bell they have. She called me during thanksgiving dinner time and scolded me for not answering when I arrived- never staying here again.

Great location, easy access to freeway, downtown, food and gas. Room was clean. The bedspread was very old and full holes, that's the only thing I would change.

Pleasantly surprised. Good value for the money. It was quiet. Bed was very comfortable. There was easy access to downtown and easy on/off to the freeway.

Conveniently located.

This was the first time I had stayed here, and I was very pleased, overall. It’s apparent that they have been making upgrades to the rooms and to the property. I’ll definitely stay here again. The location is very convenient, but is right next to the freeway, so there is some traffic noise throughout the night. Family friendly, and great for the budget conscious.

I chose this place for its convenient access to Hiway 101. But, the condition of the property, especially the room, was very disappointing! Never again... I have learned my lesson! While it was relatively easy walking distance to downtown, it just wasn't worth it..... Also, there were homeless folks in the area that were wandering around the parking lot and using the exterior outlets to charge their phones and bike batteries....

Clean, comfortable, convenient location

The room was clean. The price was good and it was walking distance to downtown. Noise from the freeway and other guests was loud.

It was very close to the university and good price.

The exterior is a bit run down, but the room was clean, in good shape, and looked like it may have been renovated not long ago. The staff was very nice and helpful. It's on Highway 1 and close to downtown SLO.

The owner was friendly and accommodating. The facility is old, but inside it is reasonable. There was some noise at night from the freeway and also from homeless people who seem to live under a nearby overpass.

For the price this is a good place. The room was good sized and the bathroom had been upgraded, but the room needs a new coat of paint. The beds were comfortable. The sheets and bathroom were clean. The towels were big and fluffy. There is no breakfast offered like it says on the website; however there is a microwave and fridge in the room. The pool is open and looks clean. Overall, a good experience with excellent service.

Bathroom fixtures were all broken; 3 beds in a small room with a small TV; No coffee; very basic but still the charges were high.

Could use a refresh on the exterior and possibly new bedding, but price was good, convenient to convert at Madonna Inn, easy access to freeway, good breakfast restaurant near by. Property just looks a little dingy on the outside and lobby was closed. Could be a cute property with a little work.

I didn't find the property as expected. The description in the website was over rated. It is also disciving that the website indicates breakfast is included. However, we are told breakfast is not included. To me it is much below my expectation.
