Don't be fooled! The online pictures look much nicer than this place actually is. It is not a hotel but is very much giving motel vibes. The property was run down. Aside from the location to Hearst Castle, not much was positive about my stay. I booked the Junior Suite Oceanside expecting a nicer room. Oceanside does not mean ocean view. My view was of an open field. Paint was chipped in several places, furniture was scratched up and the room was old and dingy. Upon entering my room I noticed there were flies in the room! In the bathroom I found ants! I called the front and no offer to switch rooms, they said they would send someone up to take care of it. No one ever came. I ended up killing the ants myself but the pesky flies evaded my reach. In the morning I woke up to more ants, the flies still buzzing and now a spider too. I called the front again and was told the same thing but no one never came. Other noteworthy things: - My room was in the north building. They prop up both doors in the building 24/7 which is a major safety concern because anyone can just walk in but probably why there are so many bugs. - Breakfast was so basic. The waffle station I was looking forward to was very disappointing. The batter was really watered down and they provided no oil/spray so everything stuck. Needless to say the waffles came out really bad. - There were holes in my towels. - The shower fixture was too small for the holes cut so there were gaping holes - Mold in the refrigerator

Room was nice. Bed was a little hard . Front desk staff very nice and helpful. A little warm without air conditioning but there was a fan and it is the Beach . It was still ok and would stay there again . Very close wall to the beach

I was really disappointed in our stay. Based on the reviews online I wasn’t expecting anything fancy but the pictures did not correctly portray the property. Our room was musty smelling and there’s no AC to help. The windows were so dirty we couldn’t even see out of them. And the “boardwalk” in the pictures wasn’t even near the property. We did walk to the beach and it was gross. Covered with the sand flies and bull kelp and smelled bad. Overall just kind of a run down property and probably wouldn’t stay again.
