We were on a Highway 101 roadtrip and stopped through San Simeon to see the Hearst Castle (and Covell Clydesdales in the neighboring town of Cambria). There are not a lot of hotel options ( when we were there last week, there was a Hampton Inn across the way being built), but we would stay at The Morgan again in a heartbeat, for the following reasons. The hotel is so charming! There are blueprints and photos of the Hearst Castle around the property. The decor in the hotel and inside our room were Hearst Castle-themed. The amenities and fixtures in our room were thoughtfully designed. In all, our room was comfortable, clean, and exactly what we were hoping for. Check in was 30 seconds. We asked for a 30-minute late checkout to accommodate our Hearst Castle tour schedule, which the front desk handled in a matter of seconds. Parking and breakfast were free, and the property is basically right on the beach. Even though there is a Hampton Inn being built, we would choose The Morgan again for our next trip through San Simeon, without a doubt. This was a lovely and charming hotel and we very much enjoyed our stay.
