This is a very old hotel but they’ve done a good job of updating the rooms & appointments in the rooms. Love the claw foot bath tub in the Juniper Room. But the stairs are very steep and no elevator. Heating is quirky. Location is great…steps away from the ferry station.

Parking is limited. If you don't get in there 7 spots you were pushed elsewhere. $30 for parking should be included as the cost of the room is a bit excessive. Nice room and deep tub was relaxing.

Parking is an issue. Was not told about additional spaces and when returned late in evening had to call for info. Additionally outside door by room 104 NEVER shut correctly, leaving the hall open to the public. as a single woman traveling this is really not acceptable.

We stayed in the Cedar Room. Nice setup. Zachariah was very informative about the best places to eat. Great location, so didn’t have to drive around. Just walk. Only problem was the parking. Tight garage had a water pipe and I backed in and hit a water pipe and smashed the car taillight.

Overall the inn was nice but we are older and the 3 flights of steep stairs was brutal. They need to put a warning on that room. The place was clean and the man at the desk was nice . But boy the stairs alone would keep me from staying there again.

The hotel is modern and clean, it’s close by the ocean very quiet. Staff was very nice and helpful. There is a charge of $25 per day for the parking.

Very nice and cozy feel to this inn. The few things I had a problem with was 1, being charged 30 for parking 5 hours (not overnight) and that I couldn’t reach a staff member. When I needed.

Our room was not in good condition. Perhaps other rooms have been updated. Front desk was personable, location of the hotel is great. Just the condition of the room was bad. Mold surrounding the tub. Carpet stained and the walls were dirty.

Liked location. Room was undesirable. Carpet was old, dirty and worn. Linens were old and pillows unacceptable foam filled. Roman cloth shades were worn and holy. Window screens missing . Room nothing like pictured in photos. Z.

Friendly and very helpful staff, beautiful clean room, lovely patio area underneath the purple blossoms of the princess tree! Loved our stay at Gables Inn, so much nicer neighborhood than other hotels on the waterfront

We absolutely loved the property and the rooms. There was an awful smell in our room that would not go away. The fan system did not clear out the smell and the room was uncomfortably warm. I believe someone snaked in the room often which made the filters smell as well. I told the people at the front desk and they are going to try and clean it out. But other than the smell everything was great.

Lovely people, beautiful old historic feeling place. There were a few idiosyncrasies related to it being an older building that were not ideal for a romantic anniversary trip (needing a loud fan and sleeping with windows open, a little less private feeling than expected including on the balcony), also the decor in the room left a little to be desired, but despite those types of things, it’s a beautiful unique place right downtown, and we loved our experience and being walking distance from everything. Also the staff was very very kind! Thank you :)

We stayed 4 nights. Rooms were large. Bedding and pillows were wonderful and I slept very well. Location was great, just off the main walkable street with many shops and restaurants. My sisters family’s room had an outdoor patio off the sidestreet with a bay view where all seven of us could gather each day. We walked to the ferry and took it to San Francisco where we took a streetcar to the end of the route and walked a couple blocks to a bike shop for a scheduled bike tour that ended in Sausalito. We also took a day trip to John Muir Woods, an old growth coastal redwood forest about a 20 minute drive NW. Weather was excellent the whole time. Sunny and 70,s.

This cute hotel feels cozy and has great views of Alcatraz and SF. Cute little balconies to sit and have a drink on. No breakfast or food on site, but walkable to everything. Our room was super roomy. No A/C, but we slept with windows open and had a nice breeze through the room. It has a bit of an older feel to it, but we found that super charming. Would come back!

The location was great. The check in was easy. The room was very hot w no ac…everything was dated. Ceiling fans would be nice. Can’t leave windows or doors open at night due to safety reason. The best thing about the room was the nice towels and the walking location to restaurants and shops.

The room was good. The view was fabulous. Only negative was there was no place to sit in the room. The porch was lovely and we did sit there. But once in the room there was no chair only the bed to sit on. Loved the location. Staff were helpful. Would definitely go back. Thanks for the dining recommendations. Angelino was excellent.

The room was clean and had personality. Our room had a beautiful bay window with casement windows that opened above the street. However, the room was warm and the thermostat didn’t work. We opened the window for cool air in the evening. The shower was in an attractive claw style old fashioned tub. It is romantic looking, but not practical if you are older. I enjoyed having our room open to a hallway that was near a doorway to the street that was near all of the downtown attractions.

Great location, right in the middle of town. Wasn't aware there was a $30 parking fee until I saw it on my credit card later. Room was nice, but lots of scuff marks on the walls. Also as we were on ground level and pretty much on the street it was difficult to open the one window we had without feeling exposed to passers by. Would stay again, but would request a different room.

When I received a call from the front desk to ask what time I was checking in or if I needed a parking space, he was not very kind at all. We’ve never been there before. How would I know if I needed a parking space. When I was questioning that he didn’t seem very friendly. Upon arrival, it appeared that he the front desk did not enjoy his job and did not want to be bothered by anybody. Very disappointing when you’re going to a place like that spending a lot of money.

expensive to park at the hotel. Staff wasn't very helpful. We had to ask for info - nothing was given upon arrival. Room was very nice but shower water pressure was awful. WE had a very noisy room right on the street but it did have a very comfortable bed. Overall nice place to spend the night.

The room was nice and spacious and we liked the balcony and view BUT the front desk person couldn’t be bothered with basic customer service. Prior to arriving the front desk person called to enquirer about the timing of our arrival, I told him around 2:30 and he said see you then. When we arrived just after 3, he checked us in and directed us to our room. We carried our luggage up to a room that was still being cleaned. When we came back down and told him our room wasn’t ready he didn’t even react, just “oh it’s not ready”. We walked to the town for about 20-30 minutes. When we walked in he saw us but said nothing. I walked upstairs to see the room was still not ready. Again, no reaction. We sat in the lobby waiting and not once did the front desk person acknowledge the inconvenience, offer any updates on when the room would be ready, offer us any water, apologize for the delay, etc. We continued to wait in the lobby for another 20 minutes until we could access our room, 1 hour after the official 3pm check in time. We are reasonable people and understand that things happen and rooms may not be ready at check in time but it was the total lack of acknowledgment or any customer service that was so off putting.

The room was nice and spacious and we liked the balcony and view BUT the front desk person couldn’t be bothered with basic customer service. Prior to arriving the front desk person called to enquirer about the timing of our arrival, I told him around 2:30 and he said see you then. When we arrived just after 3, he checked us in and directed us to our room. We carried our luggage up to a room that was still being cleaned. When we came back down and told him our room wasn’t ready he didn’t even react, just “oh it’s not ready”. We walked to the town for about 20-30 minutes. When we walked in he saw us but said nothing. I walked upstairs to see the room was still not ready. Again, no reaction. location is great! Right downtown you can walk to all the shops and restaurants, but also tucked in to a quiet spot. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

My sisters family’s room had an outdoor patio off the sidestreet with a bay view where all seven of us could gather each day. We walked to the ferry and took it to San Francisco where we took a streetcar to the end of the route and walked a couple blocks to a bike shop for a scheduled bike tour that ended in Sausalito. We also took a day trip to John Muir Woods, an old growth coastal redwood forest about a 20 minute drive NW. Weather was excellent the whole time. Sunny and 70,s.

This was a last minute overnight getaway. It was close to everything, the staff was super welcoming and helpful. The room was very historic feeling, but nicely maintained. I only wish I had a room with a view! It would be nice to have a place to purchase snacks, drinks, etc. But overall great.

Unfortunately this bed and breakast has gone down hill in the last 6 years. We stayed in 2019 and loved it and now the breakfast is gone (they claim Marin county wont allow it even though covid era mandates are over for a long time now) and the room was terrible (yellow stained curtains and no AC) Skip this place and stay at Casa Madrina (we will next time)

This cute hotel feels cozy and has great views of Alcatraz and SF. Cute little balconies to sit and have a drink on. No breakfast or food on site, but walkable to everything. Our room was super roomy. No A/C, but we slept with windows open and had a nice breeze through the room. It has a bit of an older feel to it, but we found that super charming. Would come back!

The room was good. The view was fabulous. Only negative was there was no place to sit in the room. The porch was lovely and we did sit there. But once in the room there was no chair only the bed to sit on. Loved the location. Staff were helpful. Would definitely go back. Thanks for the dining recommendations. Angelino was excellent.

Beautiful hotel and room also a great location for the town which has a great choice of restaurants and you are right next to the ferry to san francisco with on site parking very helpful staff on check in and when their car park was full gave us a permit for the town car park

Beautiful and clean room. Our room was far from the lobby and they didn't leave the phone number of the lobby in our room. The ice was hard to find. The coffee mugs are too small and overflow even when selecting the smallest coffee. The bathroom fan stopped working. There is no AC. It's on us to not have noticed when we booked but I was surprised. The window has no screen and is close to the sidewalk and street. We didn't feel comfortable leaving the window open. It was the middle of the night, our room was real really toasty, and we didn't have the number to reach them. Didn't feel like walking to the lobby in the middle of the night. When we explained this to the staff in the morning the guy was very defensive and arrogant. He said that he lives there and leaves his door unlocked and that we should feel comfortable leaving the window open.
