The customer service here is impeccable! The staff went out of their way to treat the family and dog like their own family. The breakfast was nice had a variety of choices. The pool was so refreshing especially since it was so hot when we went. The only thing that could use some help was the room appearance. They are doing a good job preserving the orinal look but the bathtub tile was chipping and the toilet flushed very loud

Online said that the pool was ready and it being a very hot weekend was the main reason we chose that place AFTER check in we were told that it was in fact not ready and was told that my room was nonrefundable and I had to argue to get refunded due to the amenities they said were available were in fact not.

The hotel is located in the historic part of Sonora. It’s a charming hotel with décor kept to match the historic hotel. I decided to reserve the king-size bedroom rather than the full-size room, thinking it would offer more space. I’m glad I did, as the king-size room wasn’t very big, and I could only imagine how small the full-size bedroom would have been. The walls are very thin, and you can hear the neighbors through the walls. The heating-air conditioning unit was loud and somewhat annoying, but we got used to the noise. The only thing disturbing was the curtains in the shower which had black mold growing where the curtains normally fold. Our room was on the second floor of the two-story hotel. Unfortunately, the elevator was out of order, and the steps of the old hotel were narrow. We had to be careful going up and down the stairs. In the morning, we did see housekeeping use the elevators, so I guess the elevator was out of order for guests. We were hoping to sit in the bar area in the evening and have a drink, but the bar and restaurant were closed and under remodeling. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Nice historical type hotel. Very friends staff, check in and out was easy. Standard items for breakfast (waffles, cereal, muffins, etc). My only issue was parking. The hotel shares a parking lot with another hotel behind it, and the spaces are very tight. I have mobility problems and I wouldn't have been able to get out of my car if I parked there. Other choices are a dimly lit lot diagonal to the hotel or on the stree about a block away. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Rooms are antiquated with window units to heat and cool the room. VERY limited electrical outlets for plugging modern devices. Room was noisy from street noise. Parking situation was confusing and should be better explained in hotel description (parking is in the lot of the hotel behind this hotel because they own both, but that is not readily apparent). “Breakfast” was sparse but clean. Perfect location for downtown access.

very cute, recently refreshed historic inn in the heart of Sonora old town. this property had historical artifacts and relics from the past. staff was friendly and helpful. I felt like I was in a combination of European and old West Inn. Clean and safe. Free breakfast was super busy and seemed to be over picked, but hey it was free. Only other negative was that the elevator was out of service. I would stay here again.

We really enjoy the pool. Sonora can be a hot place, and the pool is really refreshing. The breakfast is good as well, although the breakfast room could use an air conditioner.

Booked this hotel for a family birthday trip. Seemed really nice in the photos. Once we checked into our room we quickly realized we were tricked. Our room was a two queen bed. The room itself was incredibly small. Not a lot of room to move around. The room and bathroom were extremely disgusting. There was pubic hair all over the bathroom floor when we arrived. There were marks and stains all over the room and bathroom walls. Bedding was stained. The shower was super gross, really stained and the grout had mold built up. Our room key quit working half way through our trip. We had a hold placed on our account for an additional incidental fee of $100. I would not recommend this hotel or stay here ever again.

I was disappointed in a few things. It’s an older hotel which is fine but I have pictures of how nasty the walls were. They clearly do not clean the rooms very well. We also had a room next to the building next door, we could hear every cough they did, talking, very thin walls… As we are packing up from our one night stay we get a bang on the front door at 10am (check out is 11am) yelling housekeeping. I had to yell no thank you as my husband was getting out of the shower. Thought that was odd.. Won’t be staying the night here anymore just due to how they are clearly not disinfecting the rooms when people come.

I love the old decor and history of the Sonora Inn, but for the price I paid for the room, I must say I was disappointed. The bed were comfortable and sheets clean, but that was about it. The carpet were so dirty and stained, we put extra towles on the floor to keep our feet clean. There were stains on every wall, the furnishings were dusty, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, doors and doorhandles were dirty. Frankly, the room was disgusting and unbelievably dirty. There is renovations on going to this hotel, but until they are completed, I cannot recommend this hotel and I would advise against staying here.

I went with a friend and stayed here for one night for a concert. The parking situation was interesting as it's a shared parking lot with the hotel across the road. When we first walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and cute vintage lobby. Upon checking into our room, the room had a terrible odor and the AC unit was very loud. The carpets appeared very dirty and the bathroom was questionable. There was cracked paint everywhere and the toilet was stained. The bathtub was cracking and old and when you flush the toilet it made a terrible noise. The continental breakfast was nice and there was a decent selection for a free meal. I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the disheveled condition of the hotel room, but the staff was very nice and the location was convenient.

The room was dirty. Bed linen: stained. Carpet: stained and the type you only walk on with shoes. In other words, gross. Bathroom sink: stained and "crispy". I get that it is an old hotel. But that\'s not an excuse for not keeping it a bit cleaner. The location of the hotel is very close to the main road/intersection with a traffic light, so be aware it is noisy if you face the street (not a fault of the hotel itself; just the location)

The rooms are decent. Small, but decent. HVAC for the room is a window heater/air conditioner. It worked well, but noisy. Shower is old fashioned 2 handle to control temp. Because of this it is extremely difficult to take a shower without vacillating between scorching hot and ice cold. If you get it right... wash quick! :-) The I took a star off comfort because the bed covers they use were awful and kept coming off and you end up sleeping on the mattress waterproof cover which looked dirty. Only two pillows per bed. Would like to have seen 4. They own the hotel behind them, so you park in their lot. Sonora Inn has no parking lot itself. Never had any problems parking even on a holiday weekend. Breakfast was ok. They ran out of a lot of what should have been out. The staff is excellent and very friendly!

The room was small and cramped, difficult to set up pack n play and walk around it. Bathroom was very outdated and looked unclean. The shades are not black out and light pours in from the street all night, as well as sounds from cars and motorcycles. Walls are thin, we heard neighbors slamming drawers all night and children slamming doors/running down the hallways loudly while trying to sleep. The room was small and cramped, difficult to set up pack n play and walk around it. Bathroom was very outdated and looked unclean. The shades are not black out and light pours in from the street all night, as well as sounds from cars and motorcycles. Walls are thin, we heard neighbors slamming drawers all night and children slamming doors/running down the hallways loudly while trying to sleep. Highly recommend staying here with its central location in the downtown and nearby hiking and adventure sites. The room is fine for a couple, but somewhat long and narrow. The AC cooled the room well and was not in the bedroom which kept the noise down. Bed was comfortable. Strangely the front desk staff had a pattern of being distant or grumpy, but not that important an issue. Overall, this was a perfect place to stay after a late night concert at Ironstone in Murphys.

We had a one night stay here and booked last minute. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They offered us a friendly welcome, provided information about local restaurants and events, and made us feel very welcome here. The king sized bed was super comfortable, the room was clean. The price was great. I would definitely stay here again.

Staff was phenomenal. Beds were soft and very comfortable. Heater worked well. Room was clean. Only downside because it is an older building the walls are fairly thin and you can hear louder cars and people out on the street.

We’ve stayed at the Sonora inn a couple of times now. It’s decent and clean, however it’s old and it seems like the owner struggles to keep up with upgrades and maintenance sometimes looks cheap and not properly installed. The potted plants and shrubbery around the property are dead and make it look rundown. They also have a very strict policy that check in is 4pm. You can pay $36 to check in early if a room is available. We arrived at 230pm and we needed a room sooner since we were traveling with a 3 yr old and the weather was warm to hot. I had to pay the $36 for one room and waited for until 4 for the second room. The lady at the desk was helpful as much as she could be but seemed under scrutiny of the GM that was lurking around to make sure the clerk was doing her job correctly. I would recommend the Sonora Inn since the price is right and it’s decent and clean. Just don’t show up before 4pm!

Check in took forever - staff met us in parking lot afterwards to apologize before we went sightseeing. People entered our room while I was dressing. Husband could not reenter room later at night - key issues. Staff problems continued. We were promised they would refund for a night. Too busy with other problems to solve ours. People complaining in lobby constantly. Staff was pleasant but inefficient regarding our particular problems.

So firstly. Staying three nights in three different hotels, this was the nicest one. That said. The rooms were updated, this is true. But like. Not done/finished? The mirrored closet was missing its magnetized catch to keep it closed. But the hole was there in the frame. The closet (?) next to it was missing the bar for hangers, but the metal attachments were on the wall, waiting for the bar to be inserted. The lady at check in was very nice. However when I asked for more towels (there were only two in the room, and only two washcloths… and we indicated when we booked that there would be 2 adults and 2 children), it took 4 hours to get 2 additional towels. When I asked for two additional pillows, I was told they’d try but likely could not accommodate. There were 4 pillows, we asked for two more, to be clear. The bathroom was charming and older, in fact as decorated as we expected the entire hotel to be. Just… more historic. But. The shower curtain was moldy. Bummer. But again, likely the nicest place we stayed at. :/

Our two-night stay at Sonora Inn was fantastic. The easy parking and excellent customer service made our visit stress-free. The inn’s location is perfect for exploring local dining options and historical sites, offering plenty to do for everyone. Our room was spacious and comfortable for my wife, our 12-year-old daughter, and me. The room was clean and quiet, and the pool provided a refreshing break from the heat. Breakfast was delicious, with ample seating for all guests. We will definitely be staying here again.

Our stay at Sonora Inn was amazing, safe and welcoming. The staff of this hotel is so kind and helpful that they would really bother for their customer. Alexandria, who was there at front desk, made sure about our smooth check-in and generously responded to all of my questions. This supportive gesture was really appreciable. Apart from her as well, the two guys at front desk (during breakfast time) were supportive. Rooms are really big with all facilities you expect as a guest and even if something is missing, then staff would make sure to resolve or answer your questions properly. Property looks good and well maintained.

Arrived at 2pm sat. Room wasn’t ready. At 3:30 given room 308 told wrong room given key to room 306 guests already in 306. Ver embarrassing when I walked in on them. My bathroom had mold all around tub looked disgusting. I really wanted a bath but I wouldn’t even shower in it. $160. Was extremely high priced for such a shoddy room.

Right in the heart of town. Nice breakfast. However the parking lot isn’t large enough if both hotel and motel are full. Still street parking is an option most days. We had a hard time and had to park several blocks away because it was a Friday night

This is a beautiful hotel. Be careful to ask for a room away from the Main Street if you want quiet. The room was lovely but there was hair in the drain of the tub. ( I had to ask for a plug so I could take a bath. - I received one) Thebreakfast was basic but sufficient. We did receive a coupon for a dinner at a nearby restaurant.

The hotel is 80 years old, so it's dated, and needs a number of updates & renovations, BUT ... this is Motherload country, & there are many hotels that are 4-star. The location is fantastic, & there are enough stores, restaurants, gas stations in Sonora to take care of all your needs. You can't beat the price for the location. We'd recommend the place, keeping in mind that there are tight quarters in the room & you'd best be prepared to get breakfast down the street. The staff was always present & helpful. Need anything, then just ask them!

The rooms are decent. Small, but decent. HVAC for the room is a window heater/air conditioner. It worked well, but noisy. Shower is old fashioned 2 handle to control temp. Because of this it is extremely difficult to take a shower without vacillating between scorching hot and ice cold. If you get it right... wash quick! :-) The I took a star off comfort because the bed covers they use were awful and kept coming off and you end up sleeping on the mattress waterproof cover which looked dirty. Only two pillows per bed. Would like to have seen 4. They own the hotel behind them, so you park in their lot. Sonora Inn has no parking lot itself. Never had any problems parking even on a holiday weekend. Breakfast was ok. They ran out of a lot of what should have been out. The staff is excellent and very friendly!

The hotel is located in the historic part of Sonora. It’s a charming hotel with décor kept to match the historic hotel. I decided to reserve the king-size bedroom rather than the full-size room, thinking it would offer more space. I’m glad I did, as the king-size room wasn’t very big, and I could only imagine how small the full-size bedroom would have been. The walls are very thin, and you can hear the neighbors through the walls. The heating-air conditioning unit was loud and somewhat annoying, but we got used to the noise. The only thing disturbing was the curtains in the shower which had black mold growing where the curtains normally fold. Our room was on the second floor of the two-story hotel. Unfortunately, the elevator was out of order, and the steps of the old hotel were narrow. We had to be careful going up and down the stairs. In the morning, we did see housekeeping use the elevators, so I guess the elevator was out of order for guests. We were hoping to sit in the bar area in the evening and have a drink, but the bar and restaurant were closed and under remodeling. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Terrible. Reserved a room with two queen beds and got a room with one bed. Room was very small, no hot water the breakfast was very limited and the coffee was cold. Never stay at this hotel again.

Very friendly staff. Room was as described on the website. Room 212 had some street noise, mostly from trucks and fast and furious type cars. Not much you can do about that. Complimentary breakfast was wonderful and filling for a hike and a drive back to the bay area. Coffee was very good at the breakfast. We may try their sister property across the street (which is where the Sonora Inn's free parking is located) by the name of Hotel Lumberjack for less street noise and the same staff and breakfast as Sonora Inn.

This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had. I chose the Sonora Inn because in the pictures it looks pretty, classic, well cared for, and the location was great. Problems: 1) It is not well cared for. It is run down with seemingly little care to upkeep. Old, torn flags fly. 2)The building inside is a patchwork of remodels. 3) We were assigned a room that was very hard to get to, up and down stairs and around corners. 4) The bathroom in our room was closet sized and added on inside the room space. It was so small you could hit your head getting off the toilet. 5) The breakfast and breakfast area was so bad, it would have been better had they not had it. A staff person stood by the food to make sure you did not turn the knob on the toaster. There was no place to sit. We gave up and went down the street for coffee and bagel.

very cute, recently refreshed historic inn in the heart of Sonora old town. this property had historical artifacts and relics from the past. staff was friendly and helpful. I felt like I was in a combination of European and old West Inn. Clean and safe. Free breakfast was super busy and seemed to be over picked, but hey it was free. Only other negative was that the elevator was out of service. I would stay here again.

We loved this place so much that we stayed an extra night. The NIGHT STAFF (Viri & Christina: great meeting you!) were SO welcoming, personable and accommodating. This hotel isn’t just like any other chain hotel you can get in any city in the US. It has character specific to Sonora and is historic, yet has all the amenities and necessities of a modern hotel. And it’s right on the Main Street so you always have things to do and see. Only minor complaints are housekeeping came in without knocking and there are no ”do not disturb” door signs, and check out is 11am and if you ask to extend it you only get to 11:30. You can stay longer but have to pay $50 to stay until noon and then a full nights stay if you stay any later. But that’s only a problem if you’re a night owl/sleep in late like us. We loved this place so much that we stayed an extra night. The NIGHT STAFF (Viri & Christina: great meeting you!) were SO welcoming, personable and accommodating. This hotel isn’t just like any other chain hotel you can get in any city in the US. It has character specific to Sonora and is historic, yet has all the amenities and necessities of a modern hotel. And it’s right on the Main Street so you always have things to do and see. Only minor complaints are housekeeping came in without knocking and there are no ”do not disturb” door signs, and check out is 11am and if you ask to extend it you only get to 11:30. *I write this review as someone who travels for work, staying in up to 12 hotels per month, both domestically and overseas*: Despite having lived in Sonora, I had never stayed at the Sonora Inn until March of 2026. All these years, I had (falsely) assumed that being such a Sonora landmark, it would be at least satisfactory, if not exemplary. I was honestly shocked. Yes, we "get" the old-timey, quirky, Gold-rush era charm...but the rooms were "motel by the airport"-quality in every respect...including rickety furniture, cheap bedding, an open "closet" (just a rod, actually) and a bizarre, very dangerously designed bathroom, with a giant step up to the tub/toilet, then tub walls that came up to past the knees. Anyone with mobility issues would have been out of luck. There are also zero horizontal surfaces on which to place toiletries in the bathroom--I literally had to bring the lone chair from the room into the tiny bathroom to have somewhere to set things. When you have to rearrange a hotel room or bathroom to make it marginally functional...there's a serious problem. The cherry on top was, while trying to sleep in a bit the next morning, the front desk staff called my room and woke me up to ask if I had requested an iron. I had not...and then I couldn't get back to sleep. Also, beware that inside the rooms facing the street, you'll hear every vehicle that passes, stops at the stoplight, and then accelerates. My stay was underwhelming, to say the very least.
