The house felt like a step back in time--and the concierge greeted us with such warmth and enthusiasm. We absolutely loved our second floor room. And sitting on the porch veranda for breakfast was wonderful.

We love it here. Friendly helpful staff, breakfast and happy hour wine for guest, roomy well appointed room BUT bring earplugs! AC clunks in and off, someone was vacuuming close to our room at 2am. We will still visit if in the area due to the convenience of bar and restaurant and room price.

We have stayed here several times over the last few years. We were always traveling by bicycle so we appreciate the restaurant choices nearby. The staff were very helpful with our bikes and allowing us to put them inside in Inn. The room was lovely with really nice touches. We received free water bottles and there is a refrigerator. Coffee and tea are always available in the breakfast room. I loved the comfy chairs in the room and the extra sink. The note pad and pen were a nice touch. Breakfast was much improved from the last time we stayed there. Many more options including fruit and yogurt, cold cereal, microwaveable breakfast sandwiches, and a nice selection of muffins, bagels, and breads. Note that if you have trouble climbing stairs, you need to request the first floor as there is no elevator.

No elevator... although I realized later that that was shown on the website, so that is primarily my oversight. But the worst part was a non-working toilet which we reported right away. They told us we were not working the handle correctly--but it did not matter what we did. It did not flush correctly. We ended up having to go down 2 floors to the general restrooms--not very much fun. The room seemed dusty and everything faded. Nothing like the pictures.

We absolutly loved our visit and had a corner room with great views of downtown Simsbury. Everyone was so friendly and it was a quick walk to the Uconn Health 10k race location. We will definitely go back soon. They even had breakfast out by 5:00 am on a Saturday for us early birds and left it out until 11:00 which was perfect. I also enjoyed the complimentary wine when we arrived. We had dinner at the restaurant on the front porch which was fabulous. We will come back again soon.

The Simsbury 1820 House is such a classic, quiet inn. There’s also a very good bar and restaurant. Comfort and good dining give the 1820 House an edge over many other options to stay in the Hartford area.

What a beautiful old inn! The grounds were immaculate and beautifully decorated for the December holidays complete with a wood fire outside in the evening. Three couches were placed around the indoor gas fireplace and with complimentary wine it was quite cozy indeed. All personnel, whether front desk or in the tavern, were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately we were unable to visit the restaurant this time. Next time, however, it will be a goal to eat there. The room was large, spacious and well-decorated. The only minor criticism was that there was peeling paint on the ceiling and a rather large gap separating the ceiling from the wall. Both are not surprising given the fact that the inn is over two hundred years old. We will absolutely revisit the inn in the not-too-distant future.

For an older property it's very well put together. It's walkable to restaurants in town. Clean, tidy, very cozy, very polite staff. Drinking at the bar was a little expensive but whatever, I guess it's incentive for me to drink less. My only gripe, and it seems pretty minor, is that there was only one table for a continental breakfast. It might have worked a little better if they opened up the bigger dining area but I guess they didn't anticipate too many patrons on a weekday. Otherwise, very comfortable, very cozy place to stay.

Our room was beautiful and very clean. Loved the four poster bed, the white and blue toile wallpaper, and the numerous windows. The bedroom and bathroom were both a very good size. The continental breakfast offered a selection of coffees and a delicious assortment of breakfast breads, scones and bagels. The sitting room is very charming. Enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

The room was pretty and the bed very comfortable. The complimentary wine and chocolates are a nice touch not found often. The bathroom showed some wear and tear- some mold spots in the shower and peeling wallpaper where it meets the tile.the breakfast is sufficient but not specia, and the coffee not the best. But, the warm and helpful staff snd the cozy vibes make it a place I am happy to return to.

This is an older facility with paint pealing off the walls in the hallway and windows that have broken ropes. There "stylish ". Beds are so high I had to borrow a step stool to get in. Staff is very friendly

Funny to ask if my room had a patio when it was blocked off by a couch. Beds need to be replaced IMO. Figure out why your fire alarm goes off in an electrical storm.

We stayed in room 403. The room was huge but everything needed to be refurbished. The bed was very uncomfortable. Even though there was some kind of topper it was hard and the mattress itself was old and we could feel where the springs were. The room is partially below ground level and all night long two noisy humidifiers had to run. We could have turned them off but we were worried that mildew and mold may also affect us. The bathroom had had partial upgrades but the tub is old. Also, the toilet is the shortest toilet I have ever seen. I can’t imagine someone with mobility issues would be able to get up. There was a sofa in the room that had very obvious food stains on it. The breakfast was not what I thought. It was a continental cold breakfast much like a holiday inn type. While you could get your food in a lovely room with a fireplace, if you wanted a table, you had to go to a smaller room with 6 tables that didn’t have much charm at all. Overall, it was a disappointment and I’m glad we only had to stay one night.

This is a lovely old inn with lots of charm. The setting is perfect and the outdoor seating very nice. Morning coffee service was good. Front desk was friendly. Our room was on the 3rd floor with very low ceilings. I suspect we got a lesser room because we booked through a 3rd party. While the bed was very comfortable, overall our room needed an overhaul. I was able to view a few other rooms on floor below us and they were much nicer. Ask for a room on first or second floor.

Beautiful historic bed and breakfast. Great location. It was so close to everything. The staff was very friendly and professional. Debbie at the front desk was a wonderful person and shared a lot of whimsical information about the area with us. She is someone who every business should have to welcome people to their business. We can’t wait to go back and we would 100% Recommend, Simsbury 1820 to anyone looking to stay at a cozy and really cool place.

We travel a lot for work and this is one of our favorite places we hage stayed to date. From the beginning (letting us check in early for work) and walking us to our room, it was a top notch place that i would definitely recommend. We didnt have a chance to try to restaurant next time for sure.

We travel a lot for work and this is one of our favorite places we hage stayed to date. From the beginning (letting us check in early for work) and walking us to our room, it was a top notch place that i would definitely recommend. We didnt have a chance to try to restaurant next time for sure.

Debbie at the front desk was a wonderful person and shared a lot of whimsical information about the area with us. She is someone who every business should have to welcome people to their business. We can’t wait to go back and we would 100% Recommend, Simsbury 1820 to anyone looking to stay at a cozy and really cool place.

We stayed in the Carriage House and loved it. Coffee on the 1820 House porch watching the sun come up over the meadow with the Talcott Mountain Ridge. Simsbury is a great place to have a summertime slowdown.

We stayed in room 403. The room was huge but everything needed to be refurbished. The bed was very uncomfortable. Even though there was some kind of topper it was hard and the mattress itself was old and we could feel where the springs were. The room is partially below ground level and all night long two noisy humidifiers had to run. We could have turned them off but we were worried that mildew and mold may also affect us. The bathroom had had partial upgrades but the tub is old. Also, the toilet is the shortest toilet I have ever seen. I can’t imagine someone with mobility issues would be able to get up. There was a sofa in the room that had very obvious food stains on it. The breakfast was not what I thought. It was a continental cold breakfast much like a holiday inn type. While you could get your food in a lovely room with a fireplace, if you wanted a table, you had to go to a smaller room with 6 tables that didn’t have much charm at all. Overall, it was a disappointment and I’m glad we only had to stay one night.

Beautiful historic hotel. Walked to the Red Stone Tavern for a cocktail before a wonderful meal at their restaurant Soma. Also enjoyed the breakfast selections.

We absolutly loved our visit and had a corner room with great views of downtown Simsbury. Everyone was so friendly and it was a quick walk to the Uconn Health 10k race location. We will definitely go back soon. They even had breakfast out by 5:00 am on a Saturday for us early birds and left it out until 11:00 which was perfect. I also enjoyed the complimentary wine when we arrived. We had dinner at the restaurant on the front porch which was fabulous. We will come back again soon.

For an older property it's very well put together. It's walkable to restaurants in town. Clean, tidy, very cozy, very polite staff. Drinking at the bar was a little expensive but whatever, I guess it's incentive for me to drink less. My only gripe, and it seems pretty minor, is that there was only one table for a continental breakfast. It might have worked a little better if they opened up the bigger dining area but I guess they didn't anticipate too many patrons on a weekday. Otherwise, very comfortable, very cozy place to stay.

Lovely and quaint. Was not quite what we needed for this trip. 3 flight walk-up was not welcomed at the end of a long drive. But host was very nice, It just would have been nice to have known that about the room. We likely would have come back another time when quaint over comfort would be more appreciated.

My mom and I were traveling to Maine and stopped here for a night along the way. What a wonderful property, the room was absolutely lovely and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We ate at the restaurant on site and it was fabulous. Well forwarded to visiting again and staying here.
