Got hit with $100 deposit that was not mentioned on the Expedia website. In addition on the Experian website it said that there's a shuttle to Union Station and there is no shuttle to Union Station this is quite the disappointment and I will not stay here again

I liked that I felt safe there. Well lit and guarded. I also liked being able to park at the room door and walk in. There was limited hot water though. Room was very clean and the internet and TV worked well. Room was noisy from traffic on Rt 50. McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts next door and a chinese restaurant at the hotel. Checkin was easy. $10 parking/night to pay for extra security which I didn't mind. Convenient to downtown, NOMA, Union Station

This is a conversion from a larger chain hotel to a privately owned hotel. It was 102 degrees outside and there were no ice machines. Maintenance was lacking but not a huge issue. They charged $10 per night for parking but they had an abundance of it. Room was clean and staff was minimal. Nightly cost was comparatively low.

Easy check in and out. Convenient parking with a lot attendant checking parking passes at night.

It was advertised as a hotel but it was a motel. Our room reeked of pot. The towels had yellow stains, and black hair on them. We also had to pay $10 per day for parking. Do not stay here.

This hotel is actually a Motel. The entire place is outdated. The furniture was old and trashy looking. The dead bolt was hard to get to engage. The dresser and table had holes in them. The room was clean enough and the beds were fairly comfortable, but you could tell the mattresses were pretty old, but there were other issues. The sheets had burn holes in them. They were also dark blue which leads me to believe they use them to hide stains and not have to replace them as often as they should. There was no hot water in the morning. The elevator was a whole different level of disgusting. It smelled like vomit and Urine and had obviously not been cleaned in months. There has to be better options at the price point paid.

This was a former Days Inn, thus the property is older, but I was fortunate with an updated room. The beds were somewhat soft, but other than that the room was very comfortable and clean. The wifi worked well. I didn't have a car, but be aware they will charge for parking your car at the property, even though there are ample spaces. There used to be a breakfast area, but unfortunately the new owners do not offer breakfast (there's a Dunkin next door). The Arboretum is nearby. Good for long walks and gardens. The B2 bus along Bladensburg has good connections to downtown and the orange line.

You advertised breakfast included with room price, they do not have any meals at all. Hotel was not as advertised.

The room is okay from the inside but the outside side image is not. The lobby needs a major face lift There are some major image changes needed.

Staff was very nice and accommodating. Room was ok but each morning I found a small roach in the bathroom

Booked this room so I wouldn’t have to drive home 3 hours after a concert. For the price you were definitely getting what you paid for, I ended up not staying and driving home the 3 hours from DC at 11:30p. The room was dirty and desperately needed the walls wiped down, smelled of smoke, and had stains on the comforter.

Overall decent stay for decent pricing. Don’t expect anything grandiose. We did switch our initial rooms because the ac wasn’t cool enough and found a stain on one of the sheets but it was done with ease. The second room was good. The beds weren’t the most comfortable but it did its job for the short time we were there. Staff was nice too. There’s a really good Chinese restaurant right next door too.

Location close to downtown, but that’s all this hotel offers, room was large, but dated. The property needs a refresh.

Lovely staff. The property is in need of spackling and fresh paint. Sidewalk repairs are also needed. Lock repairs are needed.The music in the lobby was beautiful. I was in a non smoking room, but clearly smelled smoke from an adjacent room. Thin walls.

I can't really review this. There was nothing wrong with it and some things to recommend it, the Dunkin

AC was non functional. Evenings were sweaty. Pillow and bedsheets are of low quality, non breathable fabric. Pillows don’t provide much support. Reserved a room for 3 adults -bathroom was only loaded with towels and wash clothes for 2 adults. I should’ve got a different room. Even though it was cheap these are basic amenities any hotel needs.

After the third attempt of getting new keys, we had to wait for the maintenance man to come open the door, which he couldn't. All this time we spent waiting made us late for our evening plans. Eventually they gave us another room, for which the keys didn't work either. The maintenance man let us in the room and went to get new key cars. In the mean time the front desk gave our new room to other guests, who ironically had working keys who just walked in to our room while we were half naked and proceeded to get enraged with us because we were in "their" room. The icing on the cake was the cockroach in the bath tub. From the turmoil in the reception area, we were not the only guests who were having problems. Stay somewhere else if you can.

Affordable, loud, old noisy a/c unit

I love it . The beautiful Lady Housekeeping was so kind to us thank you so much the customer services it's amazing.

The room was clean and decent but the guy working at the front desk was rude and a little disrespectful.

Professional and polite

Put in May 9th. Arrival May 10th checkout and when I got there they did not have a room for me. They said my date was for May 8th and check out May 9th so I never stayed there and got charged for it. I was hoping to get some kind of a refund

It was close to everything we needed

The quality of the room was great for the price. Close to several dining options, stores and the Metro. My biggest concern was for bed bugs. A couple of the reviews that I read complained about finding bed bugs. I did a deep search of the mattresses, head boards and area around the beds and found no sign of bed bugs or their droppings. Several reviews complained of no hot water in the showers. The shower handle just needs to be turned farther than half way between hot and cold for a hot shower. My ONLY complaint about the room that I stayed in was that there was no way to stop up the tub drain for a bath, which I sorely needed after all the walking that I did around the National Mall and museums. That was remedied by purchasing a cheap tub stopper at the Target store nearby. This was a great room for $93 a night within walking distance of several dining options, stores and the Metro. If you're planning on staying in DC economically, the Gateway hotel is an excellent choice!

I felt it was fair for the money paid. Nothing spectacular, but it was fairly quiet and the beds were clean. Very friendly staff and I felt secure in the hotel because it is not what I would consider to be the best part of the city. Not much of a selection of places to eat nearby. Overall, I think it is an alright place to stay and I would probably stay there again when going to visit for a short stay.

For the price it was okay. My room was clean. I did see areas that I would have liked to have a bit more effort put into but for a two day stay it was alright. Close to downtown and local stores.

The area is dirty and not safe it’s in the downtown almost. The hotel is not clean bed sheets are very old. The smell is something else.

I liked the location. It was on a bus line. Loved the price. I wished they changed the bed sheets.

We left early. Extremely loud. We could actually see into the connecting room through the bottom of the door. Smelled like smoke. Questionble area.

It was close to the historical sites by car.

I booked none. Smoked room, but what they gave me the room was smelling of weed so bad the area wasn’t looking good or safe as the picture was showing while booking. I’m very disappointed. I couldn’t even sleep; some people “men” were outside smoking weed and cigarettes and listening to music. I really dont recommend this place, Don’t get scammed by the pictures you see on the exp app; you will be very much disappointed.

Excellent property! Specifically for night stay. Mostly all Landmarks such as Dunkin, Gas station and highway connectivity are nearby. All visitors attraction merely 20 min far from the Gateway. We occupied one bedroom for night stay as they offer Kingsize bed, TV , Microwave, a coffee machine charged $135.00 that includes $10.00 for one night parking. Plus at the time of check in $100.00 deposit which we received at the time of check out.

Convenience of Dunking Donut store outside of hotel. It would be better if you had Coffee machine in the lobby, as many hotels and motels do, even with a charge to be paid to the desk!

Fair good for the price. Not fancy but we have to transfer rooms 2x due broken shower and the other room emits sewage smell. Finally got a decent room and stayed for the rest of the days. Service is quick and commendable. Nice location with Dunkin Donuts on the side and Checker Burger place. Best thing is, the hotel is pretty much close to the National Mall and close to the National Shrine of Immaculate Conception.
