Rodeway Inn Clearwater-Dunedin

Upon checking in, we were shown both rooms in our booking. I was charged $40 for my pets' stay with us. A smell that was not noticed at first was evident in one of our rooms, a heavy mildewy smell. While both rooms had kitchen sinks and refrigerators, they also had roaches. My dogs were the cleanest additions to this property. We had to plunge one toilet. One shower came out half from the spout into the tub and half from the shower. The trash can outside our rooms was filled and overflowing, and never emptied. Within 5 minutes of checking in, a police car showed up and 2 people who had been hanging around the front lobby were spoken to by police. It appeared that some people live in this place. The pool area looked great, but it is right in front next to the busy highway under construction, and the next morning when those trucks and machinery geared up, it was very noisy. I undersrand this is a temporary matter, but until then, do not expect a restful stay.

Area was generally clean. Parking lot was rather cramped.

It was new, clean, and staff was friendly. I hated that there was no bathtub!! Also no ice on the 4th floor ,no diet Two places to eat close, super busy trying to cross the street. eatnearlydrinks

First thing I saw was roaches. Bad start. Then there were cigarette or some kind of burns on the bed. The door did not lock unless you used the bar that flips over. If you leave the room, you can’t lock it. Why I’m saying all this? No way I was staying in that room after I saw at least 5 roaches. I have video proof. Front desk guy was doing his best and that was appreciated. I just wanted to sleep. Moved me to the room next door. Pretty sure that wasn’t going to solve the bug problem. Didn’t see any roaches. Still burns on sheets and covers. One of the locks didn’t work but it would lock if you left the room and the key would open the door 👍. A/C looked 20 years old and had no vent slats but it produced cold air. I’m ready to sleep. For some reason I fall asleep to the sound of the TV. Well, TV wouldn’t turn on. Called front desk and he came immediately. I said “the only thing I didn’t check was if it was plugged in”. You guessed it, not plugged in. Then the remote didn’t work. Had to get up to turn TV On or OFF. Fell asleep 😴. Woke up to go to restroom. Hello there Mr. Roach on the toilet seat. Good thing I didn’t just plop down on the seat and hear a little crunch. So, bugs probably crawled on me, but I was so tired. Next day, ice machine not working. Oh yeah, the refrigerator shelves on the inside of the door were duct take. To keep stuff from falling out. Classy 👍. There’s more but you get the picture. AWFUL!!!

Hotel is being upgraded, so there is a lot of distraction. That combined with the extensive highway repairs being done on HWY 19 (not hotels fault) prevents a quiet atmosphere at this time.

My wife and I stayed there 19 year ago. So we thought we give it a try again. Room was clean. It had a good refrigerator. No coffee pot or closets to hang clothes? Bed was conformable with clean sheets. Pool was nice also. We bought a coffee pot at Walmart because the office had nothing in the morning. We would, and will, come again. I didn't think it was bad for the price. Didn't experience any troubles posted online. Construction and traffic is terrible on SR19. Not Roadways fault!

I was charge for a fee for 2 service animals. The property manager stated that my visitor could only be there for 15 minutes or she would charge me for another adult. She charged me a whole $240 extra. I tried to leave on Friday instead on Saturday. I was told I wouldn’t get a refund. The people there are money hungry and the pool was nasty. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to the roaches. Not to mention it was roaches infested. Not to mention the ac didn’t cool the room and there was a hole in the bathroom door.

This most worst hotel I have ever booked. When we checked in the room was not ready. The guy on the reception has no clue about the reservation. He was asking about the room we need. How many people …etc. I booked pet Friendly however they charged us $25 extra for my dog. The room was really sucks Knobs are broken , only three towels in the room, room is in very poor painting, pillows are old and not comfortable. Also there were three young people they were very drunk. One of them got naked on the pool and they were about to knock on my room. They were shouting all night long. When we complained at the reception . They said we can do nothing!!!!! This hotel is not for families. It’s for dating and drunken people I paid $200 for nothing.so expensive for one night in less than one star hotel

Worst experience ever, we arrived around 6pm, the front office is closed. They do put a note with a phone number on the window, we called more than one hour, nobody answered. We have kids i the car, so I have to try to find someone.I went to laundry room, some women were there. Room is very very dirty, cockroaches everywhere. They don’t have Wi-Fi,don’t have coffee, don’t have drink water no matter cold or hot. The faucet is broken, toilet is leaking and make noises. And the smell, mix with manures and perfumes . Nobody should live in this condition.

False advertising- the pictures online show nice, new, clean rooms and a decent looking property but it is a run down roach motel. The painted over black mold and cockroaches caused my wife to have an allergic reaction to the toxic environment and she ended up in the ER to get treated for hives. Doors were broken and unable to lock them, this is not safe. Room was filthy. Zero refund policy at the property dispite these conditions. We checked out after 1 night of our two night stay.

March 21, 2025, I checked into Rodeway Inn located at 28596 US Highway 19 North, Clearwater, FL 33761. As a world traveler who has stayed in youth hostels and five-star resorts, I was appalled and shocked with this facility. Upon entering the room, the stench was unbearable. I returned to the front desk and was given another room, which smelled and looked as putrid. The room had many spackled patches and holes in the walls. The bedspread had multiple holes. The light above the sink contained several dead bugs. The exterior hallway where the ice machine was located reeked of weed. Needless to say, I slept in my car. Unfortunately, your site does not have a zero star. This facility needs to be removed from your suggestion list.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, there was roaches coming from every outlet in the walls, theres a lady that stay in 122 its smells like theres a dead animal in her room

They need to spray for roaches and need new beds

Room was NOT as advertised by Expedia. The pictures were very misleading. Our room was quite damaged, dirty, and smelled. Paint peeling, dirty garbage left in a drawer, dirt left on the toilet lid, mattress old and broken (sunk in on one side).

Was very run down. Rooms smell of smoke. Cockroach’s.

The staff were helpful when i needed my room keys reset and they cleaned when needed, but i would not stay here again because the first night my daughter had a cockroach crawl on her. I ended up seeing a second one later and my other daughter next door to us had them in her room too. I have to keep my luggage outside now that im home so i dont bring an infestation inside. I did not address it with staff because i figured it probably wouldnt change anything.

The sheets on the bed had holes stains. It was very dirty the floor there was a roach there and it smelled really bad.

You certainly get what you paid for - do to a booking snafu I was in need of a a cheap room for one night quick. Needless to say, a $79 dollar room in Florida, is exactly what you expect it would be. To be fair, the room was clean. But clearly there was patched repair work to many spot in the walls, the AC unit in the room was on its last legs and there was a gap at the bottom of the door that allowed cigarette smokers from the other guests to waft in the room on a putridly humid night. The box spring bed was no treat either. I didn’t bother to unpack and hoped to baby Jesus that I wouldn’t be covered in bed bugs when I left in the morning, which I wasn’t and wanted to provide some positive feedback. The place looked run down and can definitely use some TLC, but like I said, you get what you pay for.

The room was clean but the property itself was very dirty. I didn’t even want to take my dog out to potty due to garbage, broken glass and dog poop everywhere. I guess no one picks up after their dog. The phone didn’t work and we had no wi fo after several attempts to enter the password given to us from the front text. The front text person upon check in was very nice

The front door did not lock as it was missing parts. Two large dogs living in the unit next door that barked loudly late at night. No hot water in the morning. Had to find another place to stay.

We checked out the day we checked in. The smoke detector was missing, but wires were exposed, there were long exposed nails not flush with bottom of cabinets, cabinets did not close, knobs we’re missing, the AC unit was plugged in on same wall next to bathroom sink, the toilet seat had burn marks, an interior door had packing tape running down the length of the door…. We don’t know if it was a closet or an adjoining room, the sink had ants in it. This was room number 115. Please investigate. We were too afraid to even spend one night there.

They claimed they had an Internet and gave us a password, but it never worked. We could never pull up their Internet and never used it. Room was not real clean closet was a joke. Surrounding area outside was very dirty and noisy.

Cockroaches. Toilet rocking. Toilet tank filling with water and not shutting off. Lukewarm water. Musty smell. Water stains on ceiling. Rusty lamp. Cracks and peeling plaster. Squeaky fan noise. Can’t believe they rented for 160$ a night. Would have canceled if it hadn’t been so late. Never again. Street under construction in front of hotel. Very noisy in the morning.

Where do I begin? Having prepaid through Orbitz, I was quite shocked to find I needed to make an additional deposit, and very specifically, in cash upon arrival. The roads are under heavy construction and we missed the entrance and had to spend another 30 minutes getting back to it, due to the aforementioned construction. Upon entering the room, we discovered both the television and the in room phone were broken. There were no bedside lamps, only a very bright fluorescent light installed over the bed that you had to walk across the room to turn on or off when entering. There was no hot water. The bed was hard and very uncomfortable. They gave us 4 very tiny pillows for a king size bed, so bring your own if you plan on stayong here. We had a concert to go to and when we returned at 11pm, we decided to just go ahead and check out and make the 90 minute drive home. Thats how bad it was.

The door wasn’t fitted to the frame; it took effort to close and lock it. The toilet wasn’t anchored to the floor—it rocked! All fixtures were old to the point of rusting. The “kitchenette”, was a collection of (previously used, I’m sure) unmatching, paint-flaking cabinets and countertop. The only reason I stayed at all was because it was late, and I was exhausted from staying at a family members deathbed. I’m sorry there’s not a “no-star” rating. I’ll never stay again.

I found this hotel to be a good value. The staff was helpful and the room was clean. The shower was especially nice -- the tile looked relatively new and the water pressure was strong. If you're looking for a value play on a hotel in the Clearwater area I recommend the Rodeway Inn.

I went there with a paid room showed the guy he could not find my reservation completely confused with a language barrier so they're for 2 hours. Completely having a meltdown I gave up and went down the street who got me right in at Howard Johnson. I would never recommend this place terrible customer service and even after paying he told me to come back in the morning when I just had an Uber drop me off at midnight never recommend this place

Bugs and roaches in room. We ran out of toilet paper at 11 at night and front desk refused to give us another roll and told us we’d have to wait til the next day when housekeeping was there. Are you kidding me?

Staff friendly. Left my pillow called back and they put it in office so I could pick it up in two weeks.

I really should have paid more attention to the reviews and spent 50 bucks more to stay somewhere else. The room was really rundown and confusing. I went to the front desk and asked for extra pillows and was told housekeeping would drop off more. Forward a few hours and sent my husband down to the front desk and was told "we dont have extra." Everything was uncomfortable

The tv in the room didn't have a remote and although the day person/owner made efforts to procure us a remote we were ultimately left watching RX for 4 days. The hotel is an approximately a $40 Uber ride to/from the Tampa airport and roughly the same to the Hard Rock Seminole. There are many eatery options within a mile walk in either direction but toad construction made some of those options difficult to get to. I can't say I will never stay there again as the do allow dogs so if I were to drive to Clearwater in the future with my dog I would book them again but unlikely to stay there gain if flying in.

Construction on the road caused major traffic issues. we needed a convenient in and out of the facility. It was so difficult to get there so we didn't stay there.

It was close to the dr office where I had appointment. Able to rest before the ride home next day. The room was very cozy.

No coffeemaker, but there is a Circle K that has coffee a 5 minute drive away. There are also several restaurants nearby. Good value overall, and would stay here again as a Spring Training (Dunedin) stay.

No hot water to take a shower, the room smelly, therefore no bottles water to buy in the lobby, and the cockroaches crawling around the sink. Shower handle is broken. Absolute not recommended for anyone to stay.

The cleaning staff was excellent. Front office lady for check in was not a happy camper when I told her the reservation was paid already. Bad communication between experia, hotels.com and hotel.
