Homewood Suites by Hilton Gainesville

Room was clean. No issues. Doesn’t have a real designated pet yard, have to walk across parking lot to the median. Not a biggy, unless there’s rain.

Decently cleaned. Comfortable accommodations. 4 stars only because I feel like it’s understaffed in the evenings. There was no more towels left at the pool so we had to walk back to our rooms wet. When I checked in after 6 pm I had to wait a significant amount of time before the front desk person returned. The staff itself was friendly and accommodating.

I live ~1.5 hours away from Gainesville and visit often. I have stayed in local hotels many times: Drury Inn & Suites (lovely rooms, cordial staff, included evening meal w/drinks plus breakfast), Hampton Inn & Suites Gainesville-Downtown (fun location, friendly staff, and enormous suites), Country Inn & Suites by Radisson (clean rooms, polite staff, indoor pool), etc. Very recently, I booked a stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Tampa - Port Richey location and it was amazing! Our suite was large, the hotel offered 2 outdoor pools, a hot tub, we were able to grill our family dinner poolside, and the staff was great. When booking in Gainesville the next week, I saw there was a Homewood Suites by Hilton location there as well. It offered a 2 BR suite, which is perfect for my family of 7 (though only 5 of us stayed this trip). I booked fully expecting to have a wonderful time. Unfortunately, it was not quite. The pool was closed when we arrived through the next morning until after 11 AM. We were sent to a neighboring hotel pool, which did not have grills. Then, that pool was closed for resurfacing. I asked for a later check out, so my children could finally enjoy the pool and was denied, then grudgingly offered 1 PM. I asked about a discounted rate if I stayed another night and was offered $30 off of the over $200 rate, then $50 off, and finally $70 off, which I paid. At check out, I was refused a receipt for the 1st Hotels.com night. There was even a tick in our room. Yuck!

They have self serve beer and wine! I wish they had more food options.

Staff was fabulous but the breakfast was strange. Instead of individual cream cheeses, milks, jellies etc there were jars of condiments to use with a shared knife. Jugs of milk in the fridge. Only ice machine is on the first floor. Faucet in the bathroom literally falling apart. Hotel just needs a little tlc .

Had a nice pool and basketball area with soundproof court. Breakfast was ok. Nice selection.

Only two inconvenient things about traveling with my mother: the damaged elevator and our room at the other end, and an uncomfortable drip in the shower. Otherwise, excellent. Thank you very much.

Very nice accommodations - bed comfortable - complex well maintained & clean Only negative I have is the $75.00 pet fee. That is way more than the $25 customary and is no where posted before booking - lesson learned, call 1st

I would NOT recommend this property and will never stay here again. After checking in, we noticed some cleanliness issues with our room. I went down and talked to the front deck which told us they would be taken care of. No one ever came and handled the issue. We never would have stayed in the room had we known it wouldn’t have been recleaned. We went swimming the next day and there was an awful smell at the pool that MULTIPLE guests were talking about what smelled with urine and a dead animal. The fire alarm went off twice, once while my son was napping and once before 8 am the next day. The “kitChen” was stocked with 1/4 of a roll of paper towels and one spoon and one knife. Two of the disposable coffee cups were provided for our whole stay and were never replenished. I discussed all our concerns with the “manager” Jason, who said he would look into it all and promptly call me. We rechecked in while we were checking out to be told he was doing some paperwork and would call us. Never received the call. Save yourself some time and book at the staybridge across the road, you’ll be much happier.

This is a good hotel with great people. The facilities are better than most at this price point. The rooms are clean, newly painted and relatively quiet. I had some issues with the TV remote, but that's a minor issue. There is a gym, and pool and half-court basket ball. The breakfast was fine with what I've come to expect from these types of stays: scrambled egg, sausage or bacon, toast, some fruits, yogurt, etc. and of course - a waffle station. Everything was clean. - They do have good coffee! Location was fabulous! It is close to the interstate and very close to restaurants and shopping, and only minutes from the University, but far enough away to avoid student traffic. What impressed me most was the staff. Someone showed up late for breakfast besides me. (All I wanted was coffee and I knew it would be available.) This guy was upset and quite rude to the staff - demanding to see the supervisor! Although it was completely this guy's fault for not arriving on time, the staff (Brenda and Ashley) were nothing be kind. The manager (gosh, cannot remember her name) handled the situation with calm. (I could never do her job.) In the end, he left satisfied with the solution, and we made it a point to compliment them on how they handled such a distressfully rude guest. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Housekeeping was abysmal! After 4 days of NO service I had to ask, multiple times, for towels, coffee, shampoo, conditioner, etc. The room was just poorly stocked and maintained and no one seemed to care. Our trash stacked up, there was no resupplying in the kitchen or bathroom and the dead roach in the kitchen was disgusting. We were staying for 10 days and our bed was straightened twice… I must say that I expected more from a Hilton property and I will not stay there again. The breakfast area also had problems staying stocked.

The room was clean, the overall hotel was clean. The pool was cloudy with a lot of bugs in it, you could tell it had been a while since it had been maintained. The breakfast was the biggest let down, definitely not up to the typical Hilton/Homewood brand. The space was dirty and the food was absolutely atrocious. Greasy undercooked potato pancakes, dry and overcooked carnita pork (for breakfast?), cold and dried out tortillas, the oatmeal was dry and could barely scoop it from the warmer. The juice containers were extremely dirty. I hate to be so negative about it.. but for the price people pay for this, the standards of the GM or manager need to be much higher.

Found multiple roaches. Also had a handycap room with a shower that we could not use, the seat was broken and did not raise in the shower rendering it unsafe for us to use. Was not told at check in. Asked for another room, said they didn’t have any but would get it fixed. Never did for the 7 days there. Unacceptable

We make frequent trips to UF and this will be our go-to spot from now on. The suite was spotless, staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was crystal clear and location is excellent, with lots of dining and shopping minutes away.

There was a variety of breakfast food that would satisfy every breakfast need. Would definitely use this hotel again.

The room was dirty upon arrival, and housekeeping was only provided every other day — supposedly for environmental reasons. But ironically, the showerhead kept leaking water nonstop, which is a real waste. The bedding was old and worn, and the dishes were dirty and sticky. On top of that, when we checked in, we weren’t even offered water, while other guests were — it honestly felt discriminatory. This hotel is absolutely not worth more than $100 a night.

Nice size accommodations, however, there were dirty utensils in the room and a big stain on the floor. Also, at checkout, we were leaving the room on time, and they locked the doors on us and then called and asked if we were going to leave. Not great customer service.

The suite was very roomy and clean. Breakfast was good as well.

A dated Homewood Suites that requires improvements to bring it up to a higher standard.

We were delighted that we had a separate room and bathroom for the children. Nice lay out that the living room/kitchen was in between so we had some sound deadening.

Not great insulation. We could hear the people in the next room who didn’t seem to be being loud. TV noise and general conversation sounded like they were happening in our room.

Hilton has multiple types of properties and I would consider this one a solid, mid-range hotel that makes you feel upscale. Very good breakfast. Beer and wine available. The two bedroom suite was extremely spacious and perfect for a family of four.

I enjoy staying at the homewood suites. The rooms are comfortable and adequate size. The suite with the couch and sitting area does give you enough room to move around. The small kitchen is great to have to cool drinks and leftover food from the nearby restaurant. The Wednesday night mixer is a nice way to have some snacks and the free beer and wine. The hvac does go into Econ mode when you are not there. Our air conditioner increased the temp when we were out and went back to our set temp when we came back.

Room was comfortable and spacious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!

I love that is pet friendly. I took my Chihuahua and they were very nice and relaxed about it. The room was very clean and have a lot of things (big refrigerator, plates, sink, silverware). Has 2 separates room with tv, one with a couch and the other with a bed. Very comfortable.

Walls are paper thin. Can hear man snoring from room next door and could hear all conversations. Chips on floor (we didn’t have chips)

Freshly remodeled so everything seemed brand new. Room was spacious and comfortable.

The front desk shin was a total little prick. I would never stay or recommend this hotel to anyone. You should probably let him go before he runs off all your customers

I sent part of this response directly to the manager: Kiara was EXTREMELY professional and accommodating. We were checked in, offered breakfast, and felt a sense of relief after receiving a very bad experience at hotel nearby. Please know that the service Kiara provided to me and my family helped to relieve the stress and burden we received at the other hotel. Please commend her for her outstanding service. I also want to provide accolades to Melinda, Jessica, Yasmine and Mrs. Grace. They are absolutely wonderful and always smiling when I see them. I will always choose this hotel first when I come to Gainesville.

After driving four hours for our short overnight stay, we arrived at 11 pm. The desk attendant said the computers were rebooting for her shift, and it almost 40 minutes for us to be able to get the keys to our room. Walls and ceiling were very thin to where we could hear everything going on above us and next to us.

My dad fell in the bathtub which was VERY slippery; the front desk had no idea how to handle the situation. They didn't have many supplies for the cut on his back. When asked if they had a policy in place for when this happened, he didn't really have an answer, told me that manager would call me tomorrow. When I got a call from manager, who took a report, I ask him also if there was a policy since the front desk employee didn't seem to know, he said they did however bc things like this don't happen often it may have been forgotten. This happened over 3 weeks ago now and nobody has reached out.

The location is very convenient to all shops and activities. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was plentiful, plenty of space and extremely clean. Will definitely stay there again!

The property was very expensive for what they offered. Part of this was due to a UF home football game. Never the less, I felt like there could have been more services offered like daily housekeeping and evening complementary drinks and food. Also the breakfast was average at best. Too much grease added to every hot item on the buffet.

The waffles were terrible. Our room never got cleaned despite us being gone from 9:30am to 9pm. The hotel leaves the LED pool light on all night so the light shines through the sides of the curtain so the room isn't dark. The lady who worked the breakfast area was almost rude.

Room was big, clean Breakfast was good just waited because they didn't have enough staff to accommodate the level of guests at 730 am. Poor guy needed help. SOS Family with crazy kids doing superman moves off the bed above us made it hard to fall asleep. Not the properties fault they tried to get the to calm down. Checkin was good, night clerk was hilarious. All and all a good stay ☺️
