Hotel Mai Downtown Long Beach

Excellent place to stay. Room was very nice with great amenities. Staff was very friendly. Had a great gym with two pelotons. My room was right above the metro train stop which was a bit noisy

The hotel was amazing. Top notch Hotel with the room,pool, sauna,rooftop with the amazing view. Nearby shopping and dining was a plus. Only negative you have to pay $20 for parking per day which we didn't find out until checking in but overall Amazing stay!

This hotel is beautiful! I chose this last minute and was so glad I did. Staff is very nice and accommodating, they keep the property very clean, I saw the staff there all day cleaning rooms and the property. The bidet is nice. Even though the hot tub was not in servive during my stay I loved using the steam room and sauna with the eucalyptus towels and enjoying my morning coffee on the rooftop. Place was amazing. Great location and very clean. Will definitely stay here again!

Room was clean and updated. Showerhead pressure was very good. Sauna- Need better instructions or explanation of time it takes for sauna to heat up because it did not seem to work after 20 minutes still not hot only warm. On Sunday, I went down to the gym on the 2nd floor around 7:25 AM and door did not allow me to get in even though the sign says it opens at 7 AM.

The hotel itself is in a great location for Long Beach. However, they don’t have enough parking to accommodate guests. They have one parking garage that only fits like 12 cars. If you didn’t already reserve one you won’t be able to park at the hotel. We had to walk a mile to the next available parking lot. Most of the front desk staff were extremely helpful and provided good information except for Michael. Michael was very rude and offered no suggestions. When we asked about parking he said “just look around” we couldn’t believe how much he did not care about our situation. The two other front desk people were great! Just Michael was rude, unhelpful, and had a bad attitude. He doesn’t seem to care that he works in a customer service oriented job. If you don’t like customers maybe don’t be in customer service? Overall the property was clean and in a great location. Besides Michael it would’ve been a 10/10 stay.

The property was exactly as advertised. Clean, updated, neat and was in great proximity to what we had expected. Found a great breakfast spot very close by so that was a plus. The parking is limited and a bit over priced, $20 for the night in addition to what was paid for the room. The indoor pool was nice and so was the roof top deck. Very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

Staff, room, steam room, sauna, hot tub, pool and eucalyptus towels were a hit! Comfy bed. Area has lots of homeless. Noise from train/busses a little. Very convenient location for convention and many dining options.

My room smelled like cigarettes, they would not give me another room. the hallway also smelled bad. Overall not a comfortable place to sleep.

Sheets on bed were stained so bad not sure why they would even put them on the bed. It was absolutely disgusting.

Something happened because the hallway smelled of sewage and they were fanning out the hallway with a loud huge fan. Rooms are spacious. Nice area. Nice bed. Toilet was fancy. But reeked. If it wasn't fit the smell it would have been really nice.

Had blood all over my sheets, took pictures went to guest services and they did nothing. Said because i booked through expedia there was nothing they could do. Beware, place was nasty

The hotel was located in an ideal location for sightseeing, and easily walkable distance to restaurants and a grocery store maybe 2 blocks away. We were out walking at night and felt safe. The inside of the hotel is very clean and the front desk is manned by employees who buzz you into the building. Once you check in, you have to use your room key to scan the elevator to get to your floor. The only way to get from one floor to the next or back to the lobby, you have to scan your room key. That is an excellent safety feature for single travelers or families with children. So basically, the people in the hotel are more likely registered guests and not someone who walked off the street. My sister and I stayed here for 1 night November 13th before catching the Carnival cruise and we were very pleased and satisfied with the hotel experience. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Spacious, comfortable rooms. Great layout that separates sleeping area from bathroom. Convenient parking, though it costs $20/night. We would stay there again.

Room is clean, but it was not serviced on the second day of my stay. Walls are thin - I could easily hear my neighbors talking, watching TV, their alarm, etc. Location is good for access to the convention center and downtown LB.

The room was very nice. We had a balcony view, but unfortunately the balcony view was near the train station. It was very loud and a lot of homeless. They gave us third floor and we asked to move because when we stepped out to the balcony homeless we’re just looking and the noise was very loud we were put in fifth floor. You can still hear the noise. Overall the hotel was nice and the room, and the service was excellent.

This is a No frills hotel, smack dead in the roughest part of downtown. However, the customer service was top tier. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable and shower was always hot! Oh and the AC was COLD. Housekeeping was great. The balcony was a plus, if you’re ok looking at a garage or buses. None the less it had a pool and gym and the snack machine stayed pretty stocked. Enjoyed my stay, but realized it do need the frills of a regular hotel, so likely wouldn’t stay again especially alone.

The room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is in great condition and was very quiet. It is located in a perfect spot because everything you need is walking distance. The indoor pool is a big plus. Cool rooftop view and hangout spot.

I believe this is a new hotel. Super clean and freshly painted, everything is nice and new. Staff is super friendly. Very clean sauna, steam room and workout room with Peloton bikes. Very close to harbor, one block away. One technical issue: watching television, received frequent passcode requests from other guests interrupting the movies. Staff need to fix issue or name each television with a guest room number to avoid confusion when connecting to Chromecast. Other than that, great value!

The room has 65 inch tv but it’s very hard to connect to the phone . During our stay the internet connection of the tv wasn’t working while we’re trying to connect to our mobile device so we can watch.

This hotel was nice. Clean room and very comfy bed the bath is amazing. Heated toilet with bidet heated mirrors and huge shower.

I was really pleasantly surprised, having stayed in other LB hotels for comparable prices, the bar is pretty low, but Hotel Mai was actually great. Balcony overlooking downtown, very comfortable bed & large clean bathroom. No complaints from me, but my partner who is a light sleeper had a tough time with the Metro that goes by the building—I slept through it though. Would definitely recommend this place.

Staff was so nice!

Do not stay at this hotel. My flight arrived in the morning, so I left my suitcase and backpack with the front desk staff around 11am. When I got back to the hotel around 6:30pm and retrieved my bags and went to my room, my iPad Pro which was in a case in my backpack was gone. I went back down to the front desk, told him what was missing and asked to speak with a manager. He gave me a card and told me to send an email. I sent several emails — no replies. It wasn’t until I called police non emergency to file a report that I finally heard from someone from the hotel at almost 11pm, saying “Your bag was in plain sight for the camera majority of the time. The time that it wasn’t, there is no one leaving the back room area with anything that can be as large as an iPad.” They are supposed to send the video footage to the police. Unfortunately the battery was dead so FindMy isn’t working, but I did set it as stolen. What is/was the most concerning is that not one person apologized or appeared concerned. I didn’t use the sauna or steam room which was the main reason I booked here, because I didn’t want anything else to get stolen which sucked. The kicker is that I almost brought my backpack with me because I had a gut pang leaving it, but unfortunately didn’t listen to my gut as I’ve never had something stolen from my bag from a hotel like this before and travel often. And the reviews about the noise and screaming people are no joke! Many other options.

The check in was the worst part, the hotel told my cards were rejected, and once o checked my bank statements I had charges in all of them. I am still waiting for the refound of the deposit.

Nice hotel. Was given a key to someone else’s room so that was pretty scary. Rooms don’t have a door latch, just a deadbolt.

Property was great, super clean and the team was great to deal with! II is a bit noisy though as it’s right beside the local transit system but I’d still recommend staying here. Easy walk to the convention centre and many restaurants within a block.

Location of hotel was prime long beach! You get the beach and also what else comes with that. The hotel itself is simple but in a good way. Check in was smooth. Finding my room was easy. Awesome amenities and quick staff responses to any inquiry I had. Would stay again on my next visit to LBC.

Weekend for convention super convenient easy 5 minute walk. Nice staff safe operation super clean and modern. Awesome shower with plenty of pressure. Room was noisy being right on major road and Metro line but not terrible. Great place to stay to park your car 20 bucks a night and walk to convention center and restaurants in 5-10 minute easy walk.

Great location

We went to a comedy event down the street at the Long Beach Terrace Theater. It was a beautiful walk there and back. Everything centrally located. Would highly recommend!

Great location. Walkable to dining, shopping, beach and aquarium. The staff was excellent and attentive. The pool /spa amenities were good. Overall very happy with our stay and the value we received.

The bed is very comfortable and clean. Nice bathroom with fresh towels. Great location but way too many homeless nearby. The Promenade is a nice short walking distance to find restaurants and night music . Shopping district The historic Pine Avenue is OK. The hotel parking lot is $20 per day. Hotel was excellent for our stay. We have a family of 5 so chose the deluxe double queen room. It had a large L shaped couch in front of the large screen tv and that is wear our 11 year old slept comfortably. Room was over 500 square feet, super spacious bathroom, a bidet which I loved. Free water. Fridge. Micro. Coffee. Beautiful roof top for sitting and visiting/eating day or night. Location in central to busy happenings. Walking distance to the pier and mall. We used the pool, workout center, and my husband and kids used steam room and sauna. We had groceries delivered from Von’s as there is no dining on site. But that wasn’t a problem as there’s lots of restaurants around as well. Check in was smooth. The hotel itself was quiet BUT if you are a light sleeper beware as the hotel is next to a public rail transportation track. We sleep with white noise and earplugs as a baseline so it didn’t bother us but it may bother someone else. If we return to Long Beach we would stay here again. Hope this helps!

We liked that it was very clean, modern and new. It would have been nice to be able to walk from floor to floor without taking the elevator. We were on 3 and went to the pool and the gym on 2 several times, but were afraid to use stairs because we'd be locked out. Nice quality room furnishings and large bathroom counter. You could also walk everywhere - to restaurants, cafes and movies in the neighborhood.

Great property downtown Long Beach, easy to park and walk around. Very close to the cruise terminal and the kids enjoyed the pool\\hot tub and sauna. Liked having a fridge in the room and brought us a microwave as well. Be nice to have a coffee bar in the lobby or breakfast items.

Very Euro-feeling hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. No restaurant/bar onsite but many within a few blocks.

The location is very convenient to access the touristic areas of Long Beach. It has all the necessary things for a short stay. The price was the best for the area. The cleaning in the bathroom could be better, the dispenser for the shampoo was empty and was never filled. The is not room cleaning in the whole stay, it does not have a restaurant.

Rooms are very clean as is the test of the hotel. The toilet is amazing. Hot water quickly. Nice big TV with a lot of channels. Don’t like paying for outside parking. Food would be a nice option.

The rooms as of 11/23 are new, clean, and well appointed. The style reminds me of modern hotels I've visited in Japan, including the fancy toilet controls! A nice, 15 min walk to the convention center. Note: there is no bar or restaurant, but both are within a 2-block walk.

Hotel Mai is excellently located and is generally a nice, newer hotel. There are no real amenities above pool/spa/gym to speak of but it's a nice, clean hotel. It is right in downtown and the area is busy and noisy and the hotel is not well insulated from the sound of a city. I think Long Beach is just dirty due to the Port fallout so I'll give them a pass for keeping it 100% tidy, but overall, would recommend for a business traveler that doesn't need room service or a bunch of fancy amenities, mostly a clean place to sleep with the ability to walk to a ton of restaurants.
