The elevator was broken in our building, the A/C was dripping in our room in the middle of the tile floor the entire time, and finally just quit working on our last day there. The adult pool wasn't an adult pool any more or rules were not enforced. There were only a couple of umbrellas around the pools. Several of the restaurants were closed for repairs. Our room wasn't ready when it was supposed to be at check in at 4pm.

The stay was perfect, from the desk they welcomed us with glasses of champagne. The room with an ocean view was spectacular. We had a very nice family time. We enjoyed the beach, pool, jacuzzi, unlimited water slide, unlimited zip line, relaxing hammocks, etc. We don't leave the hotel at all, you have everything in the hotel. They have a Pizza Hut,ice cream, food truck, hotel restaurant. super recommended.

Taking into consideration that this area is still rebuilding from hurricane damage. Pros: the service from all staff was stellar, not a single bad experience from check in, bartenders, grounds, servers etc. - proximity to the beach and a number of great activities for family and adults - several food options on site (a little pricey but it’s a resort) -water fill up stations for bottles was such a great perk in the heat! Cons: There are several small pools throughout the resort, however the main pool at Island Grand was in need of better upkeep. The rooms are a little run down for the nightly price/resort fee. Our bed was hard as a rock and the linens are basically two sheets and a scratchy blanket. We paid for a room with a balcony- the balcony was basically a small ledge with a fence around it. Not enough room to sit comfortably. Our family had numerous problems with their room: broken AC, TV didn’t work, and bed rails were broken. Which leads me to another con- no one ever answered the front desk phone when requested assistance. We had to walk to the front and wait in line each time. Not only is the walk long, but we wasted time waiting in line more than 3 occasions for a simple request. Lastly, it is mentioned on Hotels.com and on TradeWinds web that there is airport transportation. This is not accurate information. The hotel has two- 3rd party people they recommend but they are not insured or employees of the company. We ended up having to take an Uber.

Absolutely love the atmosphere! Super fun activities for the family to participate in all day long. Love all the beach fun opportunities. The main Tradewind rooms could use some up grades but they were very clean. The elevators near our room were broken off and on throughout the week. Which was a little frustrating at times. We were spoiled in the past and stayed at the Rumfish. This facility was closed to a private group while we were there. That was disappointing. But we will definitely be back and hope the Rumfish is available to book next time.

Beach, pools, waterslide and zip line were great for the kids. Only 1 working elevator for a large resort. The elevator was extremely slow so we walked 5 flights of stairs most of the time. On our 1st night the room across from us had a drunk person that was having a meltdown from 1:30-3:30 am. It was so bad they caused damage to their room. The resort never apologized or acknowledged the incident to us, even though we brought the issue to their attention.

Hotel was under major renovation and they did not disclose this information on the website. The hotel expected us to use a port a potty as a bathroom accommodate, the main pool was also closed most of our stay (not due to weather), also when we booked they said parking was included in the amenity fee and then said it wasn’t later. The paddle boats were also not working and my kids were pretty disappointed. Rooms are very dated along with the entire hotel. For $600 a night I don’t expect to being using a gross port a potty. Hotel is not worth the $$$ and is a total scam online. It looks great online but is not the case when you arrive. I emailed hotel staff and never received a call back or email.

The beach and the main shared areas are well staffed, clean and pleasant. Our main issue was an AC that work well, bathroom ceiling had a leak, the tub was clogged and there some roaches in the room. There was a lack of attention to these details when it was mentioned to staff.

To start off, there was ALWAYS a line for the elevator (at least one in our building was broken.) Also, the elevators that did work were slow and had no AC. Our room was not the cleanest & we didn’t notice how bad it really was until we were unpacked. Not wanting to have to move rooms, we left it alone. There was quite a bit of dust everywhere and we found a cockroach behind the couch that was still alive. Our tv quit working one night and while it took maintenance a while to get there, he very kindly found us a new tv to replace our broken one. For the price, I expected it to be cleaner and better quality all around.

We stayed for 6nights.. on our 2nd night we found blood stains on our bed sheets but our kids had eaten chocolate pudding so I didn’t think it could be blood, however after we changed rooms yet again there was another blood stain on our bed sheets.. the 3rd night we stayed there as a lizard in our room called to have someone come removed it that was a waste of time because he was more concerned with the dresser he broken than trying to get the lizard out. So after he left I went to go check on the food we had under the stove and found cockroaches crawling around in our food!!!! After that we changed rooms and were told we would not be charged the resort fees. The next morning I pulled covers off the bed my children were sleeping in and found what now I could confirm was an old blood stain on the bed sheets again!! Called housekeeping and they came to change the sheets. I was so disgusted at this point so I took a walk to look around and seen that all of the bed linen was stored out in the main hallways OUTSIDE, not covered and up against the buildings. Mind you this was in our 2nd room for our stay!! Then we found out the stove was not working so I went down to ask someone to come fix it no one ever came.. I had to track down the maintenance guy to come fix it.. the lamp in our 2nd room was also broken all he did was screw it back in and the light was still fluttering of and on but I guess that was good enough for him. My son also slipped in bathroom due to condensation.

The television did not work. The staff only puts a first flat sheet on the mattress and does not even tuck it in, the bathrooms were disgusting. Resort now uses umbrellas instead of the covered lounge chairs and when the wind blows the umbrellas go flying around until they remove them. At night kids are allowed to run, scream, knock on your door and there is no pretense of any staffing that would prevent the kids from making noise at 1am. Family has been coming here for many years We love the beach location and used to love the resort now we will look elsewhere to stay as the clients your allowing to stay need professional management.

Our toilet ran constantly, it took over an hour to get extra towels to shower after the beach. Our bathroom could’ve been cleaner. Children can not reach the soap dispensers and shampoo dispensers in the shower or on the walls of lavatory and they do not leave any soap on the counter or cups in the bathroom to rinse. You are way better off to take the stairs if you’re able. The food they serve there is outrageous so you’re better off going down the street to crabby bills. We’ve stayed here in the past, but this was terrible and I will not go back.

Fan in bathroom did not work lady up in the front desk asked acted like I should have told her about it when I got there that roof been rented out a 100,000 times and nobody ever fixed it. Door lock is broken, TV glitched all the time. As far as your staff went they were great professional always very courteous and kind. You charge somebody $200 a day for a place that you all call five Star you know me and my kids go all over Florida stay in I would never return to your place.

I liked that everything was right there. Beach was beautiful. I didn’t like the pool area. Main pool area was dirty, drains didn’t work and it smelled like sewer. I also didn’t like that you pay a daily resort fee, but still had to pay for so many amenities on the property. Everything you wanted to do cost extra, including if you wanted beach chairs or cabanas. Our TV didn’t work and AC went out. Maintenance fixed, but still it was annoying.

Pools are small and don’t have actual restrooms nearby, only porta-potties (which were also not well maintained). The lagoon looked like it had stuff growing in it that wasn’t supposed to be there. Saw staff eating food while preparing it. Elevator is painfully slow. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights…we didn’t even end up staying 1 - went to a different resort for our stay. Go a bit further up the coast to Sand Key or Clearwater - more shopping and dining options and properties better maintained.

Having stayed at TradeWinds now for years, we were disappointed in the condition of the property. We understand the need to open the property after the storms last year, but it is obvious someone is asleep at the wheel, as to how the property presents itself. The amount of weed growth and trash surrounding the beach facing side of the property is a lack of commitment by management. We also had maintenance work on our AC three times, before fixing the problem. Disappointing and may be out last time!

The Island Grand is a beautiful property, and overall, we enjoyed it and would stay again. Great dining options, and you have access to both the Island Grand and Rumfish properties. There was an issue with storm flooding on the ground floor of the resort, and resort staff worked hard to dry up the carpets and had fans going. It looked like they also had an outside company come in to clean the carpets and disinfect, etc. We were on the 4th floor, so it wasn't an issue for us, but we did have to walk through some wet, soggy areas. The balcony room was small, and the balconies at Island Grand are not private. It looked like the balcony rooms at the Rumfish were more private, similar to a condo balcony with concrete walls. The on-site dining options were good, so no need to go off-site unless you wanted to explore more of the area. The only other setback and total surprise to us was that upon check-in for a 3-night stay, they put a hold of $700 on our card to cover not only parking and resort fees, but also "possible" expenses charged to the room. This might be standard at resorts, but it ties up a chunk of funds. We used our credit card, so it wasn't an issue, but still a surprise and unexpected for them to hold that much money against available credit. To put it into perspective, we had already paid for our entire room stay through Expedia, and our total bill at checkout was only $280 for resort fees and parking. We opted to pay directly at restaurants. Overall good experience!

We have been staying at Clearwater Beach the past 2 years but came to St Pete Beach this time around. The change was made cuz some of Clearwater Beach is still recovering from the last hurricane. To keep it simple, we will return to St Pete Beach. For what we like to do, it is a better location. If you like wide beaches from hotel to water St Pete is the place, but if you like walking the street and stopping at outdoor bars/pubs for music, then it’s Clearwater. TradeWinds is nothing to speak of. Outside of a beautiful entrance, your room is nothing amazing. I thought it would be better. Maybe it was just my room. Toilet did not flush great, bathroom sink did not drain well and molded caulk around the tub was just caulked over versus removed and recaulked. The elevator system main building is biggest problem. They are slow to begin with with both guests and service staff/housekeeping using. Further on many occasion one had to manually shut the door so the elevator would move. They charged for beach chairs in the first 2 rows on the beach while you pay a hefty daily resort fee. They indicated there was an adult pool but all pools on property had kids, I guess they didn’t monitor. You could only find music at the main pool. Now it’s not all bad, they have many activities on resort to choose from and several food options. We did not use much. We chose to spend our money at the local restaurants. If booking make sure your getting what you are looking for.

Taking into consideration that this area is still rebuilding from hurricane damage. Pros: the service from all staff was stellar, not a single bad experience from check in, bartenders, grounds, servers etc. - proximity to the beach and a number of great activities for family and adults - several food options on site (a little pricey but it’s a resort) -water fill up stations for bottles was such a great perk in the heat! Cons: There are several small pools throughout the resort, however the main pool at Island Grand was in need of better upkeep. The rooms are a little run down for the nightly price/resort fee. Our bed was hard as a rock and the linens are basically two sheets and a scratchy blanket. We paid for a room with a balcony- the balcony was basically a small ledge with a fence around it. Not enough room to sit comfortably. Our family had numerous problems with their room: broken AC, TV didn’t work, and bed rails were broken. Which leads me to another con- no one ever answered the front desk phone when requested assistance. We had to walk to the front and wait in line each time. Not only is the walk long, but we wasted time waiting in line more than 3 occasions for a simple request. Lastly, it is mentioned on Hotels.com and on TradeWinds web that there is airport transportation. This is not accurate information. The hotel has two- 3rd party people they recommend but they are not insured or employees of the company. We ended up having to take an Uber.

Great activities for kids! Our room was in the same hall as the ice machine and housekeeping closet so it was very noisy all of the time. The resort is dated and needs some upkeep and renovating. We had a tropical view, queen beds room… the balcony is very small! Really only room to stand.

I really wanted to like this property, but it's clearly struggling with upkeep. As many of mentioned in other reviews, the interiors haven't been updated in many years and cleanliness (e.g., mold in the bathroom tiles) is an issue. I also observed significant mold on the underside of a crib sitting out in the hallway, which was alarming. Balconies are very small and not for sitting and, yes, there will be smokers out there anyway. The internet only works in certain areas of the room. Our family staying in another room had TV issues that took an engineer almost 4 hours to resolve; they finally requested another room and were settled in at 11:00 pm. We were there following Tropical Storm Debby and a number of amenities were not working including floating park and zipline (mechanical issue). Lots of added costs with ancillary things like kids' activities, drinks, and parking. The parking lot is a mess with construction equipment and materials thrown everywhere. The pools have zero shade with the exception of the Oasis Pool at RumFish (worth checking out) and only 3 rentable cabanas (sold out). Restaurants are small and also not particularly clean. I was worried about the timeshare pitch, but that was pushed minimally with one mention at check-in unless we wanted a "tour." Signs everywhere say no outside food and drinks, but folks were bringing coolers of beer since prices were so high at the bar. Staff we encountered were ALL helpful, nice, and eager to please!

Went for a final hoorah before school starting with my young (6&8 year old) and had a great time. I read a lot of reviews of this and other hotels in the area before booking and there were some things that I agree with and others I feel like they have addressed. Check in was great and they got us in our room quickly. Overall the front desk staff were cordial but not the nicest from the couple of times I had to interact with them on a variety of question and just witnessing them interact with other guests. The rest of the resort staff were very welcoming and engaging when interacting and I appreciated the efforts they made (especially with a large convention also staying there). The amenities and extra activities were great. Well, worth the stay in the extra money that you pay for them. The pools were also equally as nice having the variety of them. They were on the warmer side, but that is understandable, considering it’s Florida and the sun. I will say there was a pool that had all shade, which was very nice for escaping the heat and was on the cooler side. As someone had mentioned in previous reviews, there was not as much shade near the pools, and there could be more of a benefit of having some umbrellas that would be nice. The beach was great and the free umbrellas for the last three rows were also very helpful. As far as the state of the hotel, there is definitely room for upgrades as many of the areas, including the rooms seemed outdated.

The hotel is quite old and it feels dated. It is poorly maintained - furniture not working properly/ toilet kept flushing itself/ loud air con pipes. The 2 bed villa we booked was sp loud with the vibrations from the air con we had to move rooms after the first night. The second room we were in was fine, although the main door to the room was exposed to the elements, but not sealed properly around the door, so when the inevitable tropical storm came, the water came in under the door, soaking the bedroom carpets. We had to move our son to the sofa bed in the kitchenette for the night because his bedroom carpet was so wet. The location is lovely though- right on the beach, and lots of activities available

We didn’t have any view of the beach. The pools were nice. The beach access was also nice. The room was on the smaller side, and we had a couple who coughed next door to us, the entire time we were in our room. So we could hear them coughing.

Overall a meh experience. For starters the individual that was checking me in had huge attitude about checking people in. Like she just hated being there. Then she put the hold on my account for almost 8k yes 8 THOUSAND more than she was supposed to. Luckily the manager was there the next morning and could help me get the hold off my account. She was nice enough to offer dinner and breakfast tickets. Our room was a hotel room at best. No ice bucket. Not that it matter because the ice machine on our floor hardly ever had ice in it. My daughter and I were very allergic to something in the room. Id assume mold as it had a very musty smell. The rest of the staff that we dealt with were friendly but only if they were doing something if you tried to randomly ask one something when they were just passing by they were very rude and felt like we were bothering them. EVERYTHING is ridiculous expensive. They say complimentary beach seating but dont tell you the first two rows are $15 a day. But then they dont control it so people just sit there or take your seat. Just overall very disorganized and most of the people working on the beach were just filled with being annoyed. Like we were inconveniening them to ask question. Not all some were very friendly and very willing to help. If I didnt have the meal tickets I would have been extremely disappointed in the food at the resturants for the price. They also refuse to allow door dash or anything out of the lobby. I paid for a gulf view

We’ve stayed at Tradewinds many times.. this visit was excellent. The majority of the staff go out of the way to make you feel welcome. Our Bellhop was David. He had gone out of his way several times to make our stay better.. the coffee bar in the main lobby has the best coffee I have ever tasted! We’ve stayed at Tradewinds many times.. this visit was excellent. The majority of the staff go out of the way to make you feel welcome. Our Bellhop was David. He had gone out of his way several times to make our stay better.. the coffee bar in the main lobby has the best coffee I have ever tasted! During check in there were a few people waiting around the lobby clearly very upset and complaining about room keys not working not finding rooms issues with rooms and one was not given the proper room booked. The check in line took forever front desk staff and manager seemed inconvenienced and annoyed to help. When finally checked in walking to our room cleaning service stopped us asking what room we were . Told us we shouldn’t of been checked in that room needs matinece not ready standing in the hall waiting with all our luggage no one had the answer had to go back down to lobby waited a long time was told manager wasn’t available finally manager came and got us a different room. The room smelled of mold and mildew the whole time had to leave the door open. The basement area they had some activities in or that you walk through a commons area also a very strong smell of mold . Was very displeased with the price of the stay for the quality of room and service received. To top it off got a very large unexpected bill for resort fees parking and taxes totaling up to almost 500$ for 5 days with a $1000 hold on my card they could not seem to explain. Very unhappy !

My family and I have been guests at the TW Hotel for several years now. About a month ago we returned from our last stay at your resort in St. Pete, but some unfortunate incidents prompted me to write this review. We stayed in room 2403: #1: One of the parts of the lock simply didn't exist; it had apparently been ripped off, making it impossible for us to provide greater security for our family. #2: You can see the poor condition of the curtain. There were so many holes it looked like there were an army of moths. #3: Bathroom exhaust fan cover heroically holding onto the wall to prevent it from collapsing. #4 and #5: You can see dozens of stains from something that apparently exploded in the kitchen on the chandelier, bathroom door, and ceiling. #8 (#9 is a video but couldn’t be attached here): This was probably the one that bothered us the most), there was a noisy renovation going on in the apartments directly below ours. It was impossible to sleep late during our stay because the machinery was extremely noisy. I fully understand that it's impossible to undertake a renovation of this type without generating noise, but we were shocked by the hotel management's failure to block off the rooms surrounding the renovation and to place guests as far away from the area as possible. #11: After an 1 1/2 hour delay, this is how the kids had to watch the movie (the staff just didn’t know how to operate the projector). "We got you!" was the welcoming reply to my - at times very individual mom-travelling-with-two-kids - questions upon our arrival and it persisted as the Island Grand at TradeWinds' wonderful agenda for our whole stay: Everything was being cared for - from the perfect "organize your own home" room amenities, over the fantastic bars & restaurants on location, to the great fun for kids & adults alike on the water slide, the zip line & the wonderful beach with its comfortable cabanas. I will never forget how the whole lobby (guests & staff) applauded when I was so happy that Josh (I hope I remember your name correctly :)) returned my wallet that I had left on the counter. Thanks a million Island Grand at TradeWinds for these fantastic gulf coast memories - we cannot wait to be back at this perfect family location!

We had a bad experience at a hotel the night before, and switched over to this hotel, where we were VERY pleased. The property was nice, and the beach access was incredible. The views from our room were incredible too.

Had a great family trip to this property. It’s 2 resorts and is massive. We stayed at the islander. It’s a very old property in need of some TLC. What was fantastic was the beach, the amenities, the food in the restaurants and the service. With so many of the restaurants and various other parts in repair I think we would’ve been disappointed had it not been for the service from the staff throughout. People like Esi and Cathy at Palm Court, Rich our Bellman, Maceo at the beach and Margarita at the front desk made our stay so pleasant. We would come again in the future when more options are open and we would choose a room closer to the beach. This place is in a good way hugeeeeee.

Overall great experience! Would’ve liked a little bit more knowledge of the property and what it had to offer and would have also liked to know that there was damage from the hurricane when making the reservation!

Great family friendly hotel. Lots of activities for the kids to enjoy and there is a kids club so the adults can have a night out if you wish. The only issue we had was the food at the hotel restaurants. The fish and chicken we ordered at 2 different on site restaurants were over cooked and very dried out. Eat off site if you can.

Staff were uninformed of changes to on-property restaurant hours over a holiday weekend. Within minutes of arriving, we were told 3 different restaurants were open. When we walked to each, one had just closed, one wasn't open for another hour, and one hadn't opened at all that day. Got to room and fridge was warm and door wouldn't shut. Called front desk, who said they'd send somebody right up. Nobody ever came, so I fixed myself. Following morning, coffee maker wouldn't turn on. Maintenance showed up for that- circuit had tripped. Later that day, maintenance came to change out a balcony light (we didn't request this, and were ok with the change... they do it for the turtles). However, when they left, they LEFT OUR ROOM DOOR PROPPED OPEN. We would never have known, but my wife ran back to the room for something we had forgotten, and the maid told her that our door was open when she arrived to clean (it was being held open by the swing bar door latch being swung between the door and the door frame). Nothing was stolen, but in 30+ years, I have never had hotel staff leave a hotel door open and/or unlocked. That was the first 24 hours. Tried the Italian place for supper, and was seated at a table that rocked so bad, the glass stemware never would have survived the meal. Full disclosure: I slid the table a bit because there was an AC vent directly above the table that was leaking water ON OUR TABLE. We left. Our elevators only worked 3 of 5 days we were there. Never again.

The room was ok, but a bit dated. Service staff were helpful and cheerful. Prices at the restaurants on site were very high as were snacks, ice cream etc. Activities were plentiful especially for kids. Overall, it’s a nice hotel despite the high prices.

The resort was very nice,we had a villa and it was wonderful, the beach was beautiful, the only downside was some of the restaurants where overpriced, for example...a kids cheeseburger and fries $20 that's a bit much . Overall it was a nice vacation.

Our bathroom door did not shut. None of the staff spoke English. It was my first time there, and I felt that rooms were in need of refreshing. the room really needs to be updated. We absolutely loved the beach. The beach staff was wonderful. My husband has Parkinson’s and they got him a beach wheelchair and made it a lot easier for him to enjoy his visit. I really do feel that the amenities and parking should be included in the price of your room stay. I hate being surprised by extra fees. I guess when they say read the fine print, you really need to. I don’t know if I would go there again. We stayed at a Sheraton and went back a few times everything was included. The room was nicer, but I love the property at the tradewinds and the beach.

We loved the paddle boats, duck feeding time, the water slide on the beach, the pools, and restaurant choices (the pizza was excellent). Having a kitchenette with 2 kids is a huge benefit!

We had a few stay with our family for husbands 70th birthday. What fun our family had. Handing in the surf then dinner outside with live music and a great sunset! Staff was ALL really nice and efficient. Everyone was helpful and pleasant! Food was good as well! Many choices and all really good!
