Econo Lodge Cedar Rapids South

This hotel was better than alot of cheap hotels i have stayed at they were polite and clean on site laundry and close to other businesses. The women up front terry was very helpful for me and my 2 year old .we had a great week at the econolodge!!

This property is rundown. It doesn’t have any amenities (food) and it’s located in an area that isn’t safe for solo female traveler.

Everything was great the only thing I would change would be an extra chair in the room. If there is more than 1 person there is no where to sit. and maybe bring back the breakfast. But I thought the room and lobby was very clean. And I was met with a smile as we came in and when we left.

Didn’t like how our door rattled when someone else opened their door. Also one of the outside doors had no security.

This hotel is run down big time. It smelled really bad threw the whole place. Windows on the 2nd floor were all open in the hallway some without screens. We had a man come up to us in the hallway asking for money. We of course said no then went down to the front desk and he was down there too and told the front desk he was asking for money upstairs and asked if he was staying there and they said no he isn’t. So they are allowing homeless people wonder the hallways bugging paying guests? Outside several sketchy people hanging around the parking lot. Will never stay here again. And only reason I did last night was because all other hotels around were booked and we were 2 hours from home. As far as the room it was ok. Bathroom you can barely turn around in so small. Highly disappointment. Website shows a completely different location I believe. Definitely not this run down sketchy place.

My check in process was wonderful. The person checking me in assisted in getting me a 1st floor room so I didn't need to be ushering my dogs up and down. After that, things were not so amazing. Entered the room which was nice and cool - great. Started to get things in the refrigerator only to find the last person's items still there. I had to call the front desk with my cell phone because there are NO directions on how to call the front desk and using the phone and hitting zero does not work. The desk attendant did come and take the things out of the refrigerator, no offer to wipe it down, nothing. All cleaning personnel were gone for the day. My dogs found things stuck to the floor - maybe candy or food - who knows. The towels were all stained and the inside bottom of the trash cans were dirty. Corners were dirty and although this was a "non smoking" room, someone had smoked in there! (I quit almost two years ago.) Nothing is provided, no coffee, no continental breakfast, no pamphlets to let anyone know what restaurants are around, who offers delivery - nothing! There are zero amenities! Then, I'm up at 5:00 a.m. to take my dogs out for potty and they abruptly stop in the doorway. I look out and there is a lady lying passed out on the floor and two police officers asking me if I know who she is and if she belongs there. She did belong there are there was supposed to be a night desk attendant, so why were they asking me? Apparently, this Econo Lodge rents to less fortunate.

If I could upload photos of the amount of stains and markings that were in our room I most definitely would! The staff was okay. I asked for an extra pillow and was told they would look to see if they had any and would call my room back. They never called back. The morning we woke up to check out I noticed stains like blood/ketchup stains EVERYWHERE. The lampshade, the wall, the sink, the bathtub, literally EVERYWHERE!! To top it off there was a perfect handprint on the wall above the headboard of the bed. As soon as I saw that I grabbed my bags and left immediately! So gross.

The room is nothing like the pictures. Instead of clean laminate flooring I have a room with stinky carpet and the room reeks of cigarette smoke. Not at all as advertised.

Worst service ever received. Dirty bed full of blood stains and towels as well. We took pictures of everything. To begin with checking in they denied our hot tub room. The king room said private hot tub in room on listing and they did not want to give me the room described because it cost more than what we paid. As we went up to see the room with our bags. We set our bags on top of the bed and saw the most horrific and nastiest sight ever. Under the covers were dried up blood stains and other human body like fluid stains like no one has ever cleaned the room before. We then proceeded down and showed the concierge all the pictures but the only accomodation she offered was to change the bedding. What kind of customer service is that.I will never stay in that hotel or choose Expedia for my booking leisures. The hotel would not accommodate my stay for what I paid for and on top of that unclean and unprofessional management. Expedia bad listing, false advertisement. Though, due all diligence and inconvenience we still put our heads down and decided not to let it destroy or cause a delay to our short vacation. The good part; safe, quiet and food walking distance.

5 Stars – A Wonderful Stay with Exceptional Service We had a fantastic stay at the Econo Lodge in Cedar Rapids and truly can’t say enough good things. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and courteous, going out of their way to make sure my child and I felt welcome and comfortable. The housekeeping staff impressed us also being kind, prompt, and always responsive to our requests with a smile.The room itself was spotless and clearly maintained with great attention to cleanliness. The mattress was exceptionally comfortable, making it easy to get a restful night’s sleep. I was also pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was, plenty of space for us to relax and unwind. During our stay, we also noticed how friendly the other guests were. Most seemed to be other families, contractors or construction workers staying from out of town, and everyone we interacted with was polite and respectful. Honestly, I’m not sure where the notion of this place being unsafe comes from, I felt that my son and I were completely safe and well taken care of throughout our entire stay. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would happily recommend this Econo Lodge to friends and any of my family visiting the area. Whether you're traveling with kids or on business, this place delivers comfort, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality

I set this room up for my mom, and one of the reasons I chose it was because it was pet friendly. When she got there, they charged her a $50 pet deposit which was not disclosed in the listing, and she has yet to receive a refund back since checking out and leaving the room undamaged.
