This motel needs lots of maintenance. Several signs saying to do this or not do that to make things work. It's very dated. Looks like 60's decor. This was probably a very nice motel 30 years ago. Breakfast was a pot of coffee and little packaged cupcakes. There was plenty of hot water and the AC worked fine but was a loud window unit stuck in the wall. The folks running the place were very nice and when I asked for a hair dryer, they immediately provided one bringing it to my room. I liked Carlinville. Great pizza place north of the square, etc. but I don't think I'd stay in the Carlin Villa again.

The place felt safe, well lit, everything worked as it should. Staff were pleasant but did speak to them that much. AC was very loud, kept kicking off and on a lot, like it could not keep up. Room looked like it was from the 70 with just a little Route 66 decor. Had a rocking chair, I liked. Had a stuff chair with bright red cover over it. Bathtub faucet pipe was sticking out away from the wall 4 inches, like you could see four inches of pipe. No usb ports in room and if you hit the lights the outlets around the bed shut off so you can use them for charges. Had an ice machine and coffe in the lobby which I liked. The entire property needs updated. But with all that said, not a bad place to stay for low cost. It might have been out of date, dog scratches on the door, but it was clean.

The Carlin Villa was a small, clean, comfortable, and affordable motel that celebrated being on the original Rt. 66 road. It was convenient to town and shopping and restaurants without being IN town. It has a lovely outdoor picnic area. We would stay there again.

Everything was so old and battered. The smell was musty and stale. For the money there was no value. It is no wonder there are no refunds, because I would have left as soon as I saw the room. The TV was very low rent.

This is an older property with older furnishings but I just loved the vibe. Had kind of a retro 1950s throwback feel. Room was very spacious and good value for the money. Really enjoyed my stay.

The people who operate the motel were super nice. They respond quickly. They are more than willing to help. The motel is dated but quiet and comfortable. The problem was with the bathroom. The toilet was right beside the wall. The tub was slippery. My husband fell. Dangerous for us as an older couple. Otherwise a nice stay.

We had a great stay! Came to town for a late concert and decided to stay for the evening then drive home the following morning. We checked in at almost midnight and the gentleman was still in the office to greet us. Our room was quaint but exactly as the pictures showed. Very clean and we slept well. Would highly recommend staying here.

This was a very needed stay, property let me in my room BEFORE check in when they found out I’ve been stranded and needed a place to stay. They had no problem with assisting me my room when I arrived on foot. Easy process & Cheap Stay $

No usb ports in room and if you hit the lights the outlets around the bed shut off so you can use them for charges. Had an ice machine and coffe in the lobby which I liked. The entire property needs updated. But with all that said, not a bad place to stay for low cost. It might have been out of date, dog scratches on the door, but it was clean.

The place felt safe, well lit, everything worked as it should. Staff were pleasant but did speak to them that much. AC was very loud, kept kicking off and on a lot, like it could not keep up. Room looked like it was from the 70 with just a little Route 66 decor. Had a rocking chair, I liked. Had a stuff chair with bright red cover over it. Bathtub faucet pipe was sticking out away from the wall 4 inches, like you could see four inches of pipe. Everything was great. It's just a motel and older. BUT, absolutely great customer service. Rooms are super clean and they actually get cleaned daily. Plus the common area where the coffee is at has a cool fireplace. This motel definitely serves it's purpose.

There was a real feeling of care here. This could have been turned into a boutique Route 66 motel court place charging well over $100/night but these folks just want to maintain a nice, safe motel. ❤️
