Baymont by Wyndham Champaign

I chose the property for the breakfast option in the morning. No where in the booking process was I notified or informed the property was under renovation and no breakfast would be available. Due to the construction, there was too much dust in the lobby area. Not good for sinuses. Room refrigerator door was open, so it was not cold on checkin.

You get what you pay for. Breakfast was horrendous - no options. “Fitness room” was a treadmill and 2 dumbbells.

Currently under construction. My safety door lock waa broken. No ice machine. No one at desk upon departure.

When its finished probably will be nice

The hotel was under construction when I arrived. I was unable to access the front entrance as it was entirely blocked off. I was not made aware of this. My Uber driver drove us around back where the parking lot was also filled with equipment, dumpsters, toilets, and more. There was a single door open to the public there. I understand not telling a potential guest that the hotel will be under construction so as not to lose that reservation, but I found this to be really sketchy. My first day there was a lot of noise from the construction. My room was on the first floor, and as a solo traveling woman, did not want to open the curtains as it opened right out to where the workers were located. The room was humid and felt wet. And while the construction was happening to upgrade the front entrance, the hotel rooms themselves are definitely in need of upgrading. While it says breakfast is provided - do yourself a favor, and plan on breakfast elsewhere. There were a few pieces of bread and a couple packets of instant oatmeal. You were lucky if there was any coffee. I'm not sure if they were feeding the construction crew at 6am, but there was nothing left at 8am and by the 3rd day I was there, all that was left were a couple of creamer packets, as it was never restocked at all. My advice - spend an extra $30 and stay somewhere else.

Try to find another hotel if you can. The backdoor lock did not work and anyone could have entered from that side. We felt unsafe all night. TV reception was terrible as well.

Concerned about safety when exterior doors don't lock.

Hotel was located right off interstate. The parking lot was well lit. The rooms were clean amd comfortable. The continental breakfast wasn't bad. First time ever staying at a Sleep Inn, would stay again.

BED BUGS! BED BUGS! BED BUGS! At first glance, the hotel was nice, low cost, and service was decent. We informed the front desk of the bed bug problem, there didn't seem to be much concern with regard to the issue.

There was hair in the bathroom and on the sheets. It was filthy. The bed felt like it had a drum underneath it. Every time I moved, I heard a noise. The worst part was that when the tornado alarm went off, there was no one in the lobby. The phone in the room didn't work. It was pretty unsafe. There was no emergency signal. I wouldn't stay there again.

First room assigned to us had dirty towels on the floor upon entering and a pair of wire cutters on the bathroom floor next to toilet. Tile floor looked u swept and the sink counter was dirty. In the second room they assigned to us. Tile floor looked unswept, sink counter was not wiped and there was a HUGE dead BED BUG on the tv stand. No thank you.

As a parent of a freshman at U of IL - I will never stay here again! YUCK! Our room was filthy. You could see dust and debris on all surfaces in the room. Hair in the tub, etc etc etc. I had to clean the surfaces of every desk, night stand, vanity etc. Dirty carpet. Broken TV. The list goes on and on. The only way I could get thru the night was to pretend I was camping and wear shoes in the room and shower! YUCK!!!!!!!!! We asked for a new room and were told there weren’t any available. No compensation for the broken TV or disgusting room. Never again!

The common areas of the facility are filthy. Filthy. The "breakfast" was an insult (coffee was fine) and sitting in the common area that clearly hadn't been dusted or cleaned for months bordered on disgusting. We literally couldn't see clearly out of the dirty windows in the common/dining area.

The room was visibly dirty on the surfaces especially the floor in the shower the room also smelled very very bad like there was a problem with the air conditioning system

I found hotel clean, bed comfortable and staff helpful and friendly.

This property was extremely dirty. There was mold/mildew in the bathroom. There were stains on the ceiling tiles throughout the property. Cob webs were evident in doorways and windows. The toilet did not flush sufficiently. Outlets did not work in the room. The screen to the room window was ruined and almost out of the window completely.

Amazing staff and clean

We had 3 rooms and 2/3 had issues. It was clean so that was nice but 1 room had 2-3 inches of water when you were showering (covering your feet).. and the second room that had an issue was with the air. It was broken, so no a/c but also couldn’t even just use fan mode for air circulation so that was a little stuffy and hot overnight

The property is exactly as lackadaisically maintained as I expected for the price. The lock on the back door to the hotel was broken (i.e. unlocked) for my entire stay. The ice machine was not functional. The staff were not particularly well-trained; check-in took many minutes despite my having paid for the whole stay in advance. The fixtures were ancient. The wi-fi was actually surprisingly good, and the room was clean enough.

Not bad but if road noise keeps you up at night, my room you could hear every vehicle or truck who went by in the night. Otherwise it is a hotel and my room was comfortable.

Room was fine, clean, shower was good. Heater was noisy. Internet was terrible- slow and crashed repeatedly. Called the front desk more than once to see about getting the master box reset to no avail. Put off my task to the next hotel. Was not a lot of choice for breakfast, basically cold stuff and make a waffle... all starches.

Lipstick on a pig -- bed was comfortable and carpet is new. Everythign else is an OLD HOTEL that has KIND OF been redone. If you open your eyes, you're gonna find lots of small issues. If you need an ok place to sleep the night at a lower price, then this is fine. Room doors are old and allow a lot of hallway light into the room.

We are heading across country and needed a room for the night. This was a clean, safe hotel with comfortable accommodations. The bathroom is TINY and there were only three pillows and two bath towels, but the price I can certainly go to the desk to get more. It was the lowest price mid- quality for miles.

The property is nothing special but it wasnt bad. the rooms were clean which was the most important thing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the TV in the room got terrible reception and every channel was blurry. It looked like it was hooked up to an old antenna on the roof. I would still recommend though.

Pillows were like huge rocks. Otherwise, clean, large room, enough light.

The room was very tired, and the air conditioning was blasting and could not be adjusted. The prices during University of Illinois graduation were exorbitant!

Front desk clerk was very friendly and got us checked in quickly! We were just passing through but it was just what we needed. Thank you!

The young woman at the desk was rude and completely unhelpful. While I was waiting to check in the computers went down so she would not check me in. I left and went shopping and when I returned in an hour the computers were still down and she still would not check me in so I asked for a refund and she told me I would have to call Expedia for a refund. I left and checked into another hotel. The same woman called me at 7:30 that evening to tell me again that I would have to call Expedia for a refund and if I didn't call them by 3am I would have to pay a fee. I had a miserable experience at Baymont by Windham and the staff was horrible.

Check in was a pain. Used Hotels.com to book but once we got there they said the payment from Hotels.com to them was denied and they insisted I call to get it fixed. There is no number to call. During a virtual chat with Hotels.com the front desk got it to work so it was the front desk doing something wrong not Hotels.com. The entire hotel wreaked of pot. You can tell it had recently been redone. Decor is cute but paint job was not good. We requested an extra blanket and pillow. We were given a sheet and told they don’t offer extra pillows. We were right next to the stairs and maintenance room so there was loud door slamming keeping us up all night. Bed was hard as a rock. Breakfast was pretty basic only complaint was the coffee. There was no sugar or creamer. Far from the worst place we have stayed but could use some help. Wasn’t worth the price of over $200 a night. Had it been $100-$120 I wouldn’t complain at all.

This place is wonderful. I have stayed with them two times. The staff is helpful, friendly and responsive. The hotel is clean, comfortable, meets all needs and quiet. I highly recommend it if you are visiting this area, especially any parents University of Illinois visiting their children. Easy parking, good location, easy check in and decent breakfast.

Checking in went fine and was a pleasant experience. What terrified me was that a man tried coming into my room; thankfully he couldn’t because the latch was on, but it made me extremely uncomfortable. The hotel key unlocks the deadbolt, so the only thing that stopped the door from fully opening was the latch. He didn’t say a word and left. I called the front desk and was brushed off, told: “we’ll have someone look into it”. Mistakes and accidents of course happen, but there should be some accountability and at the very least, safety should be taken more seriously.

One of the front desk girls was complaining that guests aren’t smart enough to figure out how to use and navigate rooms like the suites. This was the second time we’ve stayed and had the same room. And gave did the same time last time.

Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. Front desk staff went above and beyond.

Not the nicest part of town. Clearly a hotel that has been repurposed into a Baymont. It’s fine for a quick overnight stay if you’re going to the football game and don’t plan on spending much time there. Most other places were sold out when I reserved. But I would not stay there for two nights.

Weird area

Good location.

Property is right off the highway so there is noise all night long. The doors do not have a soft close so slamming doors woke me up several times. There is also a lack of cleanliness. I found foot peelings on both sides of the bed and questionable stains on pillows. I've stayed at a Baymont Inn before and expected way more. The elevator also sounds like it's on its last leg. Won't be coming back.

Staff was nice. They are doing some renovations at the property. It is 5 minutes from the mall & other major shopping areas.

We needed a quick place to stop on our way and this was just right. Very convenient and a lot of places to eat nearby.

The stay was pleasant and very close to Neil st. Most of our dining out and taverns were within just a few miles.

It seems like the hotel is going out of business. We were promised a full breakfast, but printed out was a sheet that said no full breakfast beginning 8/16, I believe. Instead a grab and go option would be provided. There was cereal, but no milk. Nothing refrigerated. There was a bowl of oranges and two boxes of pre-packaged muffins. Ice machines were not working. We needed to leave early for a family emergency, but they refused to refund us because we pre-paid using Expedia.

Breakfast area not always kept always well supplied. We often had to request coffee pit be filled and food trays were running low.

Good budget priced hotel. Property is clean. Breakfast is included but don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed. Waffle maker did not have any batter, maybe they only use it on weekends. Same for other hot food that had signs but no hot food existed. They did have your other basic cold and heat your own breakfast items. Might just be limited on weekdays, not sure because we didn’t ask. They had yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal packets, bagels, toast, cinnamon rolls, and oranges.

I did not have high hopes because it was so inexpensive, but it was really a decent hotel. The beds were comfy, the sheets felt nice, it was quiet, and there was a good variety of food at breakfast. This is a real gem and I'm glad we found it.

The room was super clean and spacious. The prices were competitive and well worth the price. Breakfast was good, though another fruit option would have been great, but really no complaints. We were so impressed that our return trip takes us back to the area so already made a new reservation.

Property was okay quality. The bathroom wouldnt drain water. The breakfast was really not there. there was nothing to eat in the morning. Room was okay condition.

Check-in took longer than I am used to. Breakfast was poor in many respects. Biscuits were not edible, like bricks, could not cut with knife. Sausage was not good flavor. Coffee was not hot.

The food was never ready and run out all the time. They needed more help.

Loved the shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. Nice touch to have paper plates and bowls in the breakfast area. The hot breakfast was fantastic! We appreciated having a cart to bring our luggage up to our room.
