1. Our room keys went dead no less than 6 times during a 5 day stay. 2. The in-room telephone was dead the whole stay. 3. The bathroom sink literally has cracks in the basin. 4. The elevator stopped working at one point during the stay - used the stairs. 5. The walls were paper thin an we could hear guests talking and/or laughing in the next door room. 6. Housekeeping was chatting - sometimes in louder voices - outside our room at 7:00 am (see the "paper thin walls" comment above). 7. Housekeeping forgot to leave fresh towels once. 8. Breakfast was only fair - needs more fruit options (plus cream cheese for bagels would be nice). 9. Bathroom wall had holes where something used to be hanging - carpet was questionably clean. Overall, front desk staff was friendly though.

The check in was longer than usual, which we understood as the staff was on the phone with what sounded like a difficult call. But still it took almost 20 minutes. After checking in, we all got ready for the pool, only to find out when attempting to enter that it was currently not working. Big bummer for the kids. A heads up would have been great during check in as their hand written sign said “pool open” along with the listed hours. The staff was great and considerate to discuss an accommodation to our stay, but said the manager would need to approve in the morning. The morning came, the manager didn’t come in during normal shift and the staff said the manager was supposed to be in at 8 but said they were coming in late. So no accommodation was given. The room also had very wet carpeting all around the AC unit. The room was clean and the breakfast was good, but I’ll likely skip another stay with Holiday Inn’s.

The doors do not fit the frame, so my daughter and I did not feel safe. We put a chair against the door and towels in the spaces. The housekeeping staff woke us every day we were there with their loud yelling down the hall. The pool smelled like a fishpond, and it was bubbly. The door inside the pool was propped open so anyone could get in. The breakfast was not good; you should look into this property. The staff, when we checked in, was very unwelcoming.

Positives: Clean room; beds were comfortable; grandkids enjoyed using the pool; coffee machine was good & complimentary. Negatives: had 2 room suite but heating/cooling unit in bedroom didn’t work; no sheets or blankets for pullout couch; no grab bars for toilet; breakfast was NOT good—worse then fake eggs as omelettes & diced potatoes were cold & tasteless. I would stay again but it wasn’t worth what I paid.

the hotel was good overall the staff was very nice and friendly extremely helpful and polite from the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff. they were all very wonderful. the pool was unavailable for a period of time due to maintenance but overall the stay was very nice.

Enjoyed a sweaty sticky breakfast in the lobby. AC off or broken. Portable fans plugged in to circulate muggy air. Not your typical Holiday Inn express standard hotel.

The pool was so cloudy and full of chemicals the bottom could not be seen. There was not any body wash in the shower. There was no waffle mix available, no coffee was available at breakfast or bowls to use for cereal or oatmeal. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Make sure you check your bank to see that you’re not over charged for what you supposed to pay. My 2 night stay cost $355.81 and I was charged $257.52 more. Front desk lack of knowledge on how to use computer and resolve the issue. They have closed the pool during our stay because of the athletes.

The pool was closed ( this was a big reason for booking here with our 4 year old grandson ). No toilet paper nor tissue at all in the room. Had to get at desk , as well as coffee for room. When ready to shower next morning , soap not available in shower dispenser . At breakfast no hot coffee available and trash cans overflowing in breakfast area from the night before. When asking for a receipt upon checkout , we were told not available as we had booked through Expedia and would have to get one from them .

The desk lady sat there for prob 5 minutes having a bs session with another worker then u could tell the elevator had a dingy look to it n the hotel room wasnt the cleanest wrappers on the floor the front of the heater fell down during the night when it kicked on the bathroom was dirty the shower head was nasty had mildew n green fungus on it the paint was peeling on the ceiling the shower head bar was broke n a cheap after market one hooked on the side of the shower u could tell it hadnt been long since it was painted n the painter shouldve been fired u can see spot around diff things n the room that was not painted to the edge looks crappy the bottom corner of the mirrior has tape on it to hold the corner piece on looks like crap n the breakfast wasnt warm for a holiday inn it was very disappointing they shouldnt have the name on it very disappointing visit!!!!

Pretty far south from the turnpike, so in a quieter area. We stayed due to the Notre Dame football game. Was about 27 mins from ND but worth it. Easy drive up to the Turnpike in the morning. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was EXCELLENT. Room was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Our room was very dirty and gross. We had to leave early and find a new hotel because it was too uncomfortable and dirty to stay in. Stains on sheets and couch, looked like mold on ceiling, holes in wall, dirty walls, ripped curtain. Very bad experience.

Hotel in quiet neighborhood. Comfy bed and nice hot shower. Our door was unlocked when we checked in. The floor in bathroom was sticky. It smelled good so we thought it was chemicals. Toilet seat was wobbly.No hairdryer in room. Went down for breakfast at 7 am . Many construction workers in there. Are all the eggs and meat. Told the lady at desk. She wasn't very helpful. Will not stay there again:(

Had an excellent stay! Check-in was quick and easy. The room was very large and beds were extremely comfortable. We had a great sleep. Breakfast was fantastic! Lots of options! The lady who was in charge or the breakfast was so welcoming, happy and loved to chat with everyone there. If we are in the area, we will stay here again for sure!

Clean property and room. Mattress was awful. No black out curtains or curtains just see through blinds. Made it hard to get dark to sleep. Staff superfriendly.

I would recommend this hotel. I've stayed here a couple of times for business. Both times the rooms were clean and comfortable. The room layouts are well though out.

The bed was comfortable, pillows were terrible, wifi extremely spotchy. The coffee was empty more than full every time we went by. The breakfast was good but limited, staff was friendly but not go getters. But the main issue is the a/c just didnt work. Asked the front desk said maintenance would come in the am and no one ever showed and it just was terrible.

I prepaid for this hotel stay on Hotels.com… Hotel charge my personal card for stay as well and have had a lot of difficulty getting this cleared up. Very displeased with this aspect of my stay… Clearly staff needs some reeducation

The check in was longer than usual, which we understood as the staff was on the phone with what sounded like a difficult call. But still it took almost 20 minutes. After checking in, we all got ready for the pool, only to find out when attempting to enter that it was currently not working. Big bummer for the kids. A heads up would have been great during check in as their hand written sign said “pool open” along with the listed hours. The staff was great and considerate to discuss an accommodation to our stay, but said the manager would need to approve in the morning. The morning came, the manager didn’t come in during normal shift and the staff said the manager was supposed to be in at 8 but said they were coming in late. So no accommodation was given. The room also had very wet carpeting all around the AC unit. The room was clean and the breakfast was good, but I’ll likely skip another stay with Holiday Inn’s.

I take full responsibility for my mistake staying in this sub par property. There are two of these properties located in Elkhart, IN. One is much nicer and the other one is dirty run down and I would never stay at again. Check-in was an absolute mess. The two women had no clue what they were doing. It took 25 min for me to get a room that was prepaid through expedia they actually had to call another person to figure out how to do it. My standards for a hotel are not too difficult, clean, modern, renovated, and this place is none of that. If you want a hotel that does not have a capable housekeeping staff, does not care about the rooms, and wont train their staff then this is the place for you. Stay far away and i feel like i was completely robbed for what I paid. Live and learn but dont make the same mistake I did stay far away from Holiday Inn Express and Suites on Nappanee. As an aside I dont blame staff I blame management for not training them correctly.

The 2 young ladies working the desk when we checked in were amazing, super friendly and helpful! Weve stayed at other Holiday Inn & Express's recently and this 1 by far was rhe cleaniest and moat comfortable and estesic rooms. We had no issues, Breakfast was great with a wide selection of hot & cold items to consume. Thank you!

My room was not cleaned. They made 1of 2 beds, didn’t pull trash, and didn’t have any face towels. When i called down to the front desk- no apology, requested wash cloths(never received them), and all the employee said when i informed her of the room condition was “OK”.

Make sure you check your bank to see that you’re not over charged for what you supposed to pay. My 2 night stay cost $355.81 and I was charged $257.52 more. Front desk lack of knowledge on how to use computer and resolve the issue. They have closed the pool during our stay because of the athletes.

Hotel in quiet neighborhood. Comfy bed and nice hot shower. Our door was unlocked when we checked in. The floor in bathroom was sticky. It smelled good so we thought it was chemicals. Toilet seat was wobbly.No hairdryer in room. Went down for breakfast at 7 am . Many construction workers in there. Are all the eggs and meat. Told the lady at desk. She wasn't very helpful. Will not stay there again:(

Went for a ND game. This was about 25 minutes away, but not that bad. Ubers do go out that way but pricey. Room was very spacious. King-size bed with a couch (So you could really fit 3 people.) My room smelled fine. Staff was courteous and friendly. The breakfast area was immaculate.

Pretty far south from the turnpike, so in a quieter area. We stayed due to the Notre Dame football game. Was about 27 mins from ND but worth it. Easy drive up to the Turnpike in the morning. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was EXCELLENT. Room was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a great stay for a Notre Dame game. about 39 minutes to campus, and a gas station nearby. Other than that very limited in places to dine/ahop, etc. but the hotel offered some snacks and alcoholic beverages for Football Friday, a very friendly gesture! Would stay again!

Went to a Notre Dame Football game and stayed here for the night. Nice, clean and comfortable and only 25 minutes from ND! Best hotel free breakfast I’ve ever had - good job Holiday Inn Elkhart!

I liked everything about my stay here except the coffee. It's kind of a necessity. But the lobby didn't have any ready. Then in the morning, it was already gone. Just one dispenser for like 30 people doesn't cut it. They finally refilled it and people were filling up travel mugs, so it was gone again in 5 minutes. More coffee please. Everything else was awesome! I was impressed.

Had an excellent stay! Check-in was quick and easy. The room was very large and beds were extremely comfortable. We had a great sleep. Breakfast was fantastic! Lots of options! The lady who was in charge or the breakfast was so welcoming, happy and loved to chat with everyone there. If we are in the area, we will stay here again for sure!

The condition of the bedroom was very nice. Unfortunately breakfast was not serve because ‘breakfast lady’ didn’t work, front desk stated that they emerge working on it (7:45, breakfast was supposed to be served at 7 am), but they were just chatting and laughing in the back room.

The pool was so cloudy and full of chemicals the bottom could not be seen. There was not any body wash in the shower. There was no waffle mix available, no coffee was available at breakfast or bowls to use for cereal or oatmeal. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

The outside of the property was very well kept. The rooms were very clean. The amenities were well supplied. The only show I had was the inside pool was extremely dirty. The pool is full of sand or possibly grout from the tile. I spoke to the front desk the second night of our stay and asked if they would be cleaning the pool before it opened the next day he replied that they shocked the pool on Wednesdays and I said that's not cleaning it because of pool is full of bugs and extremely dirty and full of sand. He stated that he would contact the maintenance man. We went down this morning the second day of our state and the pool was still very filthy. The pool area itself was very clean organized and there were plenty of towels.

The hotel had no power. Didn't reach out and communicate this and had no options to help find alternate accommodations. Won't be staying there in the future.
