Super 8 By Wyndham Atchison

I stayed at the Wyndam Super 8 in Atchison, Kansas recently when attending a high school class reunion. The staff at this hotel were all very friendly and helpful. My room was large and very clean. Even though the hotel was completely full, it was quiet and peaceful. Climate control was perfect. They offered a complimentary breakfast with a nice variety. Parking was safe and close to the building. I would definitely recommend this hotel based on what I have already stated, plus a great value for my money.

I liked the decor in the registration area. The staff was helpful with restaurants near the hotel. We have a very long trailer and they showed us where we could park. The room was very nice.

Staff were all very kind. But that’s about all they have going for them. There were NO elevators, and I had two young children and several bags… so yep I had to climb two flights of stairs with multiple bags and items and two young kids. The TV did not work the first day, the room was hot and muggy, and the bathroom plug-ins and bedside items were all inoperable. I turned on the air and would leave for a bit, just to return to it shut off. I requested a change of sheets and returned 15 hours later to a room with NO changed sheets, and trash not taken out. When I requested help with the tv, maintenance came the next day to fix it while I was gone and spilled a drink on my belongings and left it spilled… for 15 hours. I cleaned it up myself… I requested a wake up call at 6 am and no one woke me. I killed massive spiders throughout the room as well. And lastly… the “included” breakfast was a waffle maker. Some milk and Frosted Flakes… oh there was expired yogurt also.

I booked 9 days because I was there on business. At check in I requested a first floor room due to the amount of luggage and equipment I had but was told I would be on the second floor without them trying to accommodate me. No elevator meant that I had to carry multiple cases of equipment up and down the stairs on a daily basis. Staff wasn’t very friendly. One the first day, I noticed there wasn’t a remote control for the tv so I went to the desk and informed them. I was told to go back to my room and they would check on it. When I checked out this morning on day 9, still no remote control for the tv which means the tv was totally useless in the room. Also, for a non smoking hotel, it sure did have a strong odor of marijuana. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had in all of my time traveling and staying in hotels. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else.

The hotel room was very roomy. The breakfast was good and the parking was easy. I would stay here again.

No elevator made it very inconvenient for he large amount of items we brought for our stay. Otherwise, it was a decent stay. Nothing great, nothing horrible.

Customer service was fine but not amazing. We were on the 3rd floor and there was not an elevator. The room was okay but you can tell the carpets need cleaned or better yet replaced. The beds were also very stiff. I know that I didn't pay much so it worked but there are small things for even a cheap price are just expected, like clean carpets and maybe an elevator if on the 3rd floor.

Property needs significant investment in upkeep. Friendly staff.

For the price room was very clean and comfortable. However, there was no elevator, and although, being elderly couple of 83 yrs, we had no trouble walking flight of stairs, it would have been appropriate to let us know before booking! Decor was dated and not especially attractive, but for price and one night, overall it was a fine experience.

We had two have the front desk come to our room to fix our TV. The Continental breakfast is not a breakfast. If all you have is cereal, orange juice, and waffles. There is no elevator, which is not handy for handicap people that cannot climb stairs. No pop Machine front desk said the drinks were three dollars for a 12 ounce can, went back later with Sister and she said it said they were a dollar again. The mail that was working stated he was not sure what I wanted, but he still took three dollars for one can . I did get two more cans. The plug-ins were too loose and would not hold a charger in the wall, and you use the one in the light on the desk, but you turn the lamp off, which turns the charger off. Definitely need to update your linens, especially the bedspreads, wish you guys had used for many years. I believe I will probably try another motel since I was not pleased with this one

Our room had not been cleaned from previous guest. We checked in at 9pm. We saw a roach in the room the next morning.

The hotel is old and outdated. The moment you come into the lobby, the smell of "old" hits you. It appears that the owners attempted to spruce it up with inexpensive paint, subpar repairs, and outdated furniture. The room smelled like humidity or mold brewing from the AC wall unit. The only updated item was the TV! The bathroom was dirty, poorly kept, and for some reason, we were assigned a handicap shower (for a wheelchair) and dirty. There was only a large shower towel for two people! Most definitely, we do not plan to stay here again.

Bug biting all night unable to sleep. Room smells like cow farm

Is very clean, quiet and the staff is super friendly. You can tell it’s an older hotel but everything is extremely clean and well maintained. Would stay again

My room was infested with bugs. They wouldn’t change my room but went in my room to kill them instead. The bugs came back every day to the point I had to checkout a day early because I could not stay there one more day. When I informed the front desk that I was leaving early because of the infestation, they did not care and from what I gathered they rented my room to someone else. The hair dryer to didn’t work and they did not have another working one to lend me. Worst experience of my traveling career.

Sheets were stained, bathroom was dirty, and shower head was not properly attached to wall and was sketchy. Staff was kind.

Room was very musty smelling. Bed wasn’t great but not terrible. Shower sprayed water all over the bathroom completely covering the mirror with spray. Carpet was badly worn and looked water damaged.

Rooms were clean and service was excellent.

The hallway’s were dimly lit. Room was filthy, sheets were stained, crumbs on and around the bed. Bathroom had hair on counter, key fob stuck to the wall. There was no way we could have slept in either bed. We did not spend more than 5 minutes in the room. We went a few blocks down the road and got a clean room, what you would expect. $110 for the Super 8 room, no refund. Do not reserve a room here. Expedia rating was 7 out of 10, no way, this hotel is not even a 2.

Yes the room was in good shape and clean! It was noisy being so close to the front office and doors!! I could hear everything! I suggest getting a room in the back of the building!!

Our tv only worked for maybe 30 minutes after the front desk person helped us with it the first time. There was NO hot water for a shower Saturday morning. And the floor above us; there were children running back and forth all night long.

We had a great stay! The room was very spacious and comfortable. Our only issue was the ac seemed to not be running very well, but over all it was a great one night stay, and we'd definitely stay there again

Good for the price. The bed wasn’t very comfortable. We keep kicking the legs of the bed frame. I had to tie around the legs so we didn’t break our toes. The TV had a problem with the cable box, every time you turn it on you had to manually switch to the correct HTMI port. They had a hand written note taped on the wall explaining how to do it. The hair dryers switch didn’t work right but we were able to get it to work. The wall by the beds were partially painted. Breakfast was a little week. But you get what you pay for. It was nice and clean, a good location and the staff was nice. Even with the issues I would not hesitate staying there again and reconnecting it for the price we paid. Overall good stay.

The TV was non functional from Sat. 11/1 at 3:00pm until checkout Sun 11/2 at 8:00am.

It seems some A/C units & over-all upgrades would be helpful for this property. Staff was friendly & helpful. Had good rest & clean room.

I've been to various Super 8 in the past and I understand that it's not a fancy stay by any means, but it's supposed to be at least clean and provide the very basic essentials- THIS LOCATION DID NOT. I checked in about 9pm - traveled from out of town. The man at the desk seemed genuinely confused to see me- like he wasn't expecting to see anyone & seemed either sleep deprived, high, or maybe sick(?). He mumbled a lot (in a different language?) to himself throughout the check-in conversation and it was hard to tell what he was saying and if/when he was talking to me. By the end of my check-in I realized he had an earpiece in and must have been talking to someone else the entire time. Very rude and unprofessional- I can only imagine what must have been said since he must have assumed I wouldn’t understand. :/ The building and room were both very run down and dirty. The bathroom hadn't been mopped and there was hair on the toliet. Also a dirty towel with something pink on it. Stains on carpets and blankets, paint chipping, and cracks and chips in the wood for both doors. Very dark. VERY SUS! As a solo female traveling I did not feel safe or welcome and checked out after my first of 2 night stay. When checking out in the morning the woman at the desk didn't seem to know what to do and said she'd "left a note for the manager " with no indication of possible refund or partial-I didn't have the energy to argue and left. There was also barely any food provided- so don't expect any.

Staff was exceptional and extremely helpful. Also very concerned about us during our stay for a family members funeral. Helping my Granddaughter get her signed into internet as well as giving their condolences to our family.

We almost always stay at Super 8 when we are in Atchison visiting our grandsons. In the past the staff was terrific! We stayed here 4/19/24 to 4/21/24. The front desk staff was great but, the housekeeper was terrible. She was rude and had a foul mouth. She came by our room on 4/20 and my wife told her that we were still in the room. She asked if the housekeeper could come back later. She said "yes". We went out and came back later. The room had not been touched. I told the front desk who called the housekeeper. She came to our door. I answered and she said "what's your problem"? I told her and she said "It's MY policy that once I finish a floor I don't come back". My wife challenged her because she said she would come back. Shouting ensued. The housekeeper told my wife not to raise her "expletive” voice around her kids who were with her. She refused to clean the room! The front desk clerk brought us some clean towels and called the Manager for us. The Manager was nice and said she would talk to the housekeeper. This is not the way you treat your guests! We won't be going back to this motel again. The housekeeper should be cut loose, she has no business being in the service industry.

It is very clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful. A good place to stay for a road trip.

Driving to this hotel from the northeast, GPS brought me to the front door of what looked like a nursing home. There was no signage and the property looked defunct. There were large signs on the south and west though.

We really like this Super 8. It's clean and safe and not too far from CVS, Dairy Queen, and Taco John's, although you do have to walk down the hill to get there. We plan to always stay at this hotel when we need lodging in this area.

If you aren’t looking for new this place is it. Economic and basic, could use some updating, more lights to the entrance of the road and lighting around the property. Their breakfast was more than expected, it was really pretty good! Definitely did not like people smoking near the entrance. It served its purpose and everyone was courteous. For basic and affordable it gets a 5, but otherwise it is a basic Super 8 that lets you rest your body for a good rest and a good breakfast for a more than reasonable price.

This Super 8 is one of the best. Always clean and quiet with friendly staff. Safe place to stay with a young family.

The hotel was clean and quiet in a location that's easy to access. The desk clerk could barely speak english which made check-in a bit difficult. I had to wake him up when I checked out the next day.

The location is in a sketchy neighborhood, 5 minutes from the infamous Sallie house (maybe thats your thing). Staff was kind at check in but, too kind and it made us uncomfortable. The man offered to load our luggage and take it to our room but was asking questions and lingering and it just wasn't a great vibe and made my teenage girls uncomfortable even though he was helping. The sheets were dirty and had sharpie on them, the ceiling had been repaired from what looked like mold damage but wasnt repaired well. Only one channel on the tv worked. Overall a very uneasy feeling and my girls were actually asking if we could leave they felt so uncomfortable. We did stay and it worked out okay but we would avoid this place in the future.

This worked out well for the Amelia Earhart Festival and the price was reasonable. It was better than I expected. It felt close to everything. The room felt spacious. The sheets and bathroom looked clean, the bed and air conditioning were very comfortable. I appreciated having the television, fridge, and microwave. The shower felt AMAZING! I loved the water pressure. However, the room had a dirty, wet mop smell, making it unpleasant upon entering the room. I did not use the breakfast area due to dietary restrictions.

It was just ok. Nothing terrible but bed was extremely uncomfortable. Truck traffic was loud. Breakfast was mediocre at best. But for price it was a place to lay your head and we felt safe.

Property was old, TV didn't work. There were bed frames much larger than the mattresses and you can easily hit your foot, leg etch on the oversize bed frames. Staff was Ok, slow and hard to understand. Breakfast wasn't much of breakfast, watered down OJ & milk. Bed was wrapped looked like hotel staff in plastic wrap. Ceral was old and not crunchy the only other choice was bananas or waffles. Coffee was ok but they were out of creamer. Won't try that hotel again at any rate.

The staff were great. The rooms were old and not properly maintained. Our room did not have a refrigerator. The website states breakfast included, but the breakfast was toast, cereal , and the only hot item was waffles. I do not think I will stay there again.

Extremely run down and towels were very rough on the skin. Some bugs in the bathroom and the room door was very hard to push open. Breakfast was only a few small packaged muffins, cold cereal, and one waffle maker. Only drink was coffee which we don’t drink. Very disappointing.

This place is pretty run down. The faucet was loose, bathroom door wouldn’t close completely, the air conditioner was very loud, etc. Breakfast was pretty bad as well.

Bare bones. Not much of a breakfast- simple carbohydrates. Clerk was barefoot. We needed a bandaid- made a trip to CVS because there wasn’t one at the desk.

It was ok for the $. It seemed to be rundown (mattresses needed replacing, etc) Breakfast was ‘bare essentials’.
