Historic Mardi Gras Inn

What a gem. Many places in the quarter don't offer parking. Here you can park on the street. Robert, a very nice store w/ good prepared food as well as grocery is right across the street. Several good restaurants close by. a gay bar one block away. But the prize is you can walk to Frenchmen st in about 5 minutes. (the best music in NOLA is on that street). You can then walk to the rest of the quarter in about 15 minutes. easily accessible to the Freeway as well. Some rooms are quite large.

The area around the hotel is a nice part of town, it didn't feel unsafe and I wasn't very worried about the car outside. It's close enough to the French Quarter to walk to everything, and it's also walking distance to the nearest streetcar station, so it's convenient for getting around. Parking was fine while we were there. It's free to park on the street outside and there was room to park across the street whenever we got back. The hotel has a nice private courtyard, and there is a gate with a code that you go through to access the courtyard, then keys to get into the individual rooms, so things felt secure. The staff were great. Overall, I would definitely stay at the hotel again due to the safety, staff, and location. Some criticism I had of the hotel are that it was pretty outdated and need a refresh. Everything worked fine, but a lot of fixtures seemed like they had been in use for awhile and had seen better days. It didn't feel dirty and I didn't see anything that made me seriously question the room's cleanliness. The sheets were showing their age, but definitely clean, and I didn't see any bugs. The only primary issue I had was that the door has built in blinds, and ours was missing a big piece at the bottom. Since the rooms are slightly elevated from the courtyard, I think it was possible to see into our room from the ground. We stacked our luggage in front of the door to block light and visibility, but it was my biggest issue with the room.

Jasmine was so helpful and friendly. Greeted me with a smile, accommodating my request when I wanted to switch rooms and extend my stay. Shawn was always very pleasant as I would see him outside the office and about the property overseeing some renovations, all rooms are getting updated! !

Property was safe with a locked gate to get in courtyard. Great walking neighborhood with colorful houses. Close by food co op to grocery shop & art gallery all in 1 building & another Mardi Gras Zone grocery store with variety of items all easily within walking distance. Restaurants & coffee shops woven into the neighborhood. 10 minute walk to Frenchmen St, greatest music in the world. Art galleries on Royal, shops on Decatur, French Market & Bourbon St. All within walking distance. Can’t beat price for this location.

Perks: The room was close to the French Quarter, easy to get to, and right beside a shopping center & a Starbucks! Management was super sweet and helpful!!:) Hard truths: our key didn't lock the door, which made us uneasy at night. The staircase to our room/patio was a fall hazard, traverse with care. Overall, we definitely got our money's worth, would consider staying again!

We had a wonderful week staying here! It's super convenient, with food, stores, and entertainment in short walking distance. Parking was never an issue. The ac was really really cold with no issues. The neighborhood is quiet and we felt really safe. The front desk staff is amazing and super helpful.

The property is being remodeled currently and is looking great! The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The room was nice, spacious, and well accommodating my group for our stay. We will be booking again!

Really cool and eclectic old Mardi Gras decor and design… I love the center courtyard, with rooms on either side… and an iron gate entrance! & Tonya, the front desk clerk was awesome!

The staff was nice and informative. Our room was dirty and falling apart. Window sills rotting, missing planks in bathroom floor, window was replaced with plywood.

It was gross. The pictures looked way better than it was. The room itself does have potential and could be a cute place to stay but it wasn't clean well at all. The was vomit on one of the sides of the bed, the trash can in the kitchen smelled like a dead animal after removing the trash bag from it, and there wasn't a whole lot of lighting. The location wasn't the cleanest either but I'm not sure if it was just that part of new Orleans or not.

The aesthetic of the place is very fun and whimsical which I enjoyed and the person checking us in was nice. That being said, the property itself was very musty and had a distinct cigarette smell very prominent. There was also hair on the towels in the kitchen, and the bedding was itchy. Overall if I was just rating on the fun experience part it would be good, but the cleanliness or lack of brought this rating down a lot.

If you wore white socks during the stay they turned black. The covers had burnt holes in them. The toilet kept running and was in a very tight space you had to squeeze into the stool area. Cigarette butts under bed side tables, under the beds needed to be cleaned, no dresser or storage for clothes. Staffing was the best part very friendly and helpful. Rooms and the whole place needs upgraded its in very poor condition. Do not stay in the 100 or 200 section, these rooms need to be gutted and redone.

Please don’t waste your time or money this is a very nice place to stay but it has a very bad Rat and roach problem. I woke up to a Rat on the table eating the complimentary chips I can’t make this up and this was after I was moved into a different room because the first one had roaches everywhere. I didn’t get a wink of sleep and the hotel staff wasn’t even available to assist with me with the Rat problem I left as soon as it got light outside

it was a place to stay. needs updated really bad. under the furniture and bed is really nasty. we stayed several days and ask the cleaning ladies could we swap the old sheet for a clean sheet and they said they did not have any extra sheets. I was going to change them myself.

Charged me $71 for the room then $100 deposit when I got there, that still hasn’t been returned even after I called about it and they said they started the refund process. Bathroom had not been cleaned, hair all over, plus only one towel.

Front desk area was freezing. First roon had stains on bed and shower and broken ac unit and rhe temp was in the low 30s. Moved to 2nd room and sheets were filthy saw a mouse when i walked out. Although bedroom was warmer, the bathroom seemed like no insulation from the outside, was not able to shower and using thr bathroom qa uncomfortable to say the least.would have choose another if not for the weather and time.

This property is disaster I just want my money back because I even didn't spend any night there I was disappointed I left the hotel the same day Dirty room dirty mattress nasty bathroom I wouldn't recommend anyone of my people to go there

We reserved this room for 1 night and check in was at 3pm When we came to check in the room was not ready at 4pm and we were told we would have to come back. We were not informed the room wasn't ready until it was already paid for and they had checked us in. At this point we should have asked for a refund and left as it only got worse. We decided to go shop while waiting for the room, when we got back at 6 the office was closed and when we entered our room we were welcomed by a run down and quite frankly disgusting room. With the office closed and it being late we had no other option but to stay. The beds were broken and slanted so sleeping was extremely uncomfortable, the floors were disgusting! We found a piece of a wig or hair on the floor, shoes were left by previous guests, a pillowcase on the floor and our socks were black after walking on the floor. At one point I stepped on a nail that was sticking up out of the floor. There was a backdoor that was unlocked with no way for us to lock it which felt extremely unsafe. When we checked out the next morning nobody asked us how our stay was and there wasn't anyone to talk to so we waited and called seeking out a manager or the owner. We were told they would call us back and we never heard from them. This place was absolutely terrible and I would not even recommend it to my enemy. The fact that they actually let people stay here and charge so much money for a dump is appalling. I am shocked that they would not make it right.

Beautiful location , staff was nice but came into my room ,while i was looking at my phone on the bed. Couldn’t sleep all night because of the lights outside the shade on the door is not enough to drown out the light

Service at Olde Town was very friendly. Rooms were pretty old and worn. Walls are very thin, so there were some loud moments. We had someone knocking on our door at 6am one morning and someone knocking on our neighbors door at 5am the next morning. Location is ideal for walking into town.

Air conditioning wasn’t properly working

First room was dirty, second room’s heater didn’t work, floor tiles missing in bathroom. It was a supposed to be a Sunday-Tuesday stay, I left Sunday. The staff was super friendly and helpful about the possibility of a full or partial refund, but since the reservation was made through Hotels.com, I’m waiting to hear back from them.

The room was actually like a three bedroom apt without a kitchen but a microwave and mini fridge at least. Great location and wonderful staff. It need a a bit of updating on it bathroom had missing flooring and towels were old.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Interior was pretty rough, plaster missing with exposed brick, shower was tiny with only a few minutes of hot water. Thermostat didn’t work the first night because we didn’t realize you needed to remove it from the wall and hold two inches from the unit to adjust. Pretty quiet neighborhood about a mile from entertainment area of French Quarter.

It was a clean place to stay. The place is historic but is in need of repair. The bathroom floor was falling apart. Beds were extremely worn out but clean.

tv did not work. they offered to bring a tv from another room but didn't want to trouble them since internet was fine.

Good location, an easy walk to Frenchman and Bourbon Street. Felt very safe walking back to my room by myself in the middle the night. Plenty of good restaurants nearby.The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Air conditioner worked well, and there was a ceiling fan above the bed. Shower not great, and there was no table or desk. I would stay again.

Wifi didn't work at all. Awful smell in the room.

The office staff is incredible friendly and gave us great recommendations for nearby food and everything else we were looking for. The room was nice and had everything we needed.

It was me and my 2 kids. Ages 4&5. A grocery store was just across the street. Easy parking. Secure location. Comfortable and clean rooms. Definitely a cure boutique New Orleans vibe. We ended up staying an extra night bc it was that great. Will stay here again! Also the staff made you feel like family. Thank you again!

Staff was great. Hotel is old but in decent condition. Walkable to Bourbon Street, but the neighborhoods are sketchy. Lots of homeless. Travel in a group. If you’re just needing a place to stay for the night and a comfortable bed to sleep in come this place is great. No frills

This was my first trip to New Orleans and I couldn't have been happier with the historic Mardi gras inn. Jazmin and Sean/Shawn were both amazing. Jazmin gave us great recommendations for food in the area and Sean was able to give us great recommendations for drinks and the night life. We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to town. Our room was super cute, the courtyard was quiet and relaxing, and everything we needed or wanted was within walking distance. I highly suggest the peach cobbler factory around the corner of the inn. Can't say enough good things about the historic Mardi gras inn.
