Baxter Park Inn

This is not what some would call a 5 star hotel but if you are going to Baxter State park it is a good place to stay. It is an older facility and the owners live there and they are very nice and them and their staff are helpful and nice! They have a wonderful laundry which is important for us when traveling. Their continental breakfast is adequate. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We lived Baxter State park! Hikers and hunters stay here. We met 2 boys that were hiking the Appalachian trail! So at first we weren't sure, but in the end very glad we stayed here!

Really nice, clean quiet hotel, right outside of Baxter. Was there for biking and we really enjoyed the sauna at the end of the day! Thank you!

My quick one word review: Homey ~ It's an older property, but clean, convenient, and comfortable. Quiet is another good description for our 2-night stay at Baxter Park Inn. ~ A few negatives would be the bed's foam topper, parking lot, and the cats. We slept okay on the foam topper, but if too close to the edge, it felt like you'd roll off. The parking lot could use some smoothing out, and landscaping to making it more welcoming. As for the cats in the lobby, we have our own indoor cat, but am fully aware of people being highly allergic to them, so just don't feel it's a wise business chose. ~ We would chose to stay there again, and recommend it to anyone who asks us.

Very comfortable beds but the pillows were too hard. Plenty of convenient parking. It was nice to have a laundry available. Loved the lobby cats but if you have allergies, better find another place to stay

Very worn down. Smelled like deodorizer everywhere. Was expensive for a motel w/o much for amenities (indoor pool was closed. No outdoor pool)

We stayed here to access the amazing Baxter State Park. This was great value for what we paid. The building on the whole is a bit quirky here and there, but our room was great. Spacious, good hot water, bath tub and shower, self-running and quick to respond A/C. Has a lap pool and dry sauna too!

2 out of 5 cats the owner of the Baxter Park Inn greeted us when we checked-in at the motel. A continental breakfast had basic choices of cereal, eggs and bacon and beverages. On the negative side, this property had no elevator.

Great and they allowed us to park our motorcycles under the covered entry area overnight so they wojldnt get rained on.

The room was clean & spacious, the staff was very friendly and there was plenty of parking for truck & trailer. Snowmobile trails are located right from the back part of property & gas was just a few buildings down. Very happy overall with the place & would definitely stay again! The only critique I have is that I wish the pool was warmer, they say its a heated pool, but that might be a bit of a stretch, lol

Its a tiny town with very little action overall... motel is on the main strip and looks like you would expect a motel to look like in a sparsely populated area - except one thing - it is immaculately clean. Obviously old - but fresh paint everywhere and propery in excellent repair. Beds comfortable, mattressed wrapped/sealed in zipped linens (cleaner, overall). I am a hard sell on cleanliness but this room and bath was a 10/10.

The location was great to get to Baxter State Park for hiking. We had everything we needed for the last night of our two week adventure through Acadia and up into Canada and back to Bangor. The property was a tad outdated but very clean. I would stay again.

We were very disappointed on the cleanliness of the room first, we went to make coffee and no one cleaned the coffee pot. It was filled with coffee, grinds and old coffee from the previous guest. Then we got into bed and there were long blonde hairs on the pillowcase that leads me to believe that it was never changed just remade so frankly those two things made it disgusting

I stayed at the Baxter Park inn back in October 2023, and liked the hotel, so I booked it again for this trip. Millinocket doesn't have a lot going on, but my trip was mainly for visiting Baxter State park and the nearby hiking trails. The housekeeping service is excellent - especially in this post COVID world.

Everything was in good working condition, clean and appropriately lit. It was nice and quiet, felt very safe.

The facility is very dated. It was clean and staff were friendly. Due to staffing problems towels were changed daily, but little else was cleaned. That was fine with us as we are traveling with a dog so his bed and food/water dishes were on the floor. The included breakfast left room for improvement.

Need to clean better nicer people at the front desk

I was inconvenienced when I first got there because the TV in the room where I was staying did not work so I had to change rooms. It was also a little strange because everything was unplugged, the lamp, the refrigerator, etc. So there was a bit of moving in involved. However, the owner called me on the phone to apologize for the inconvenience and that was very nice!

Great location to prepare for a hike in Baxter State Park. Clean, spacious accommodations with friendly staff and everything you need for a good night's rest and a home base for your day out on the trail.

Very nice and helpful staff. Rooms clean. Mattress could use an upgrade, not very comfortable. Chairs lacked support to bottoms so had to sit on a pillow to use chairs. Very favorable location for going to Baxter SP.

My hotel room was nice and clean, everything was in order. I found the mattress and pillows to be comfortable. I would stay here again if I'm ever up in this area.

Tim, the owner, was very accommodating, super-friendly, very knowledgeable and full of good advice. He and his wife really care about your experience and try to help with any issues you may have with your travels and visit to the area.

Wonderful family owned mid-range hotel near Katahdin and the Appalachian Trail. They were very accommodating to our group and even let us use their breakfast room for our group celebration. They were a joy to deal with and helped us navigate the area.

The cats and front desk staff were so welcoming and helpful.

My husband and I were a little Worried About staying not at a nationally named hotel. We were pleasantly surprised staying at the Baxter Park Inn. The clerk at the desk was friendly and pleasant. She explained their establishment rules. They offered breakfast in the morning, though we didn’t have any. The rooms were nice and clean. The only negative is taking our suitcases up a metal flight of stairs to the second floor. My husband had to make two trips as I couldn’t lug my suitcase up the steps.

The front desk hostess greeting us on check in was more than friendly and helpful. We give her four stars. The overall the premises was not badly kept or unpleasant to stay at. However, the maids failed to make our bed or replenish our towels for the second day of our stay. In fact, they did absolutely nothing to the room. We did NOT leave a DND sign on the door so there was no excuse for this lapse in service. Also, the continental breakfast consisted in dried cereal, oatmeal, fruit cups and coffee. Not much of a selection. If you plan on eating breakfast go out but good luck finding a restaurant. There were few amenities in this former mill town. Millinocket was mainly a bedroom community for the now defunct Great Northern Paper company. Everyone seems to be waiting for GNP to return. They don't realize this is not going to happen. Nor do they appreciate the role the Great Northern Woods can play as a outdoor recreational paradise. There is more to Northern Maine than Baxter State Park. In fact, Percy Baxter would not trust the state to care for the lands he left to the public. Rather then deeding them to the State he created a public trust to ensure the lands were not sold or left in ruin. It's a sad commentary on the State Government. We enjoyed our tour of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. Hopefully it grows in size as the Federal government invests more money in the area.

The owners are incredibly caring and want to help their guests in any way they can.

I also stayed one night and was charged for two.

This place was a perfect stay for us. We used the amazing pool. Everyone at the front desk was a joy to talk with. They really went out of their way to help us. We will definitely be back next year. Thank you for being so awesome.

Amazing hotel in proximity to Kathadin. Close to brewery and great restaurants. Clean and cannot wait to stay here again.

The room was clean and had all the amenities. The lounge was well-stocked for the continental breakfast. I will definitely stay there next year during the TSP Convoy.

Imagine walking into the breakfast room and seeing a cat sitting on the table. They have the run of the place. Even if you are not allergic, do you want to set your meal where a cat's unwashed bottom has just been resting?

The beds felt as though you were laying down on a trampoline. Not real comfortable. Very little was placed out for breakfast. Laundry facilities were in use by hotel employee. Amenities were outdated. I understand the price was higher due to location but I still felt it was way over priced. Also, greeted by 3 cats in the lobby.

The staff members were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious enough for two. The dining options were limited, but the market was close by. We would be happy to stay here again.
