We stayed at carlton lodge December 2021 over new years and it was great. We returned this weekend in October and the hotel has severely gone down hill. During the day at best maybe 2 to 3 people working and at night 1 person working. Rooms dirty and smell like mold. Mold in the bathroom on the ceiling above shower. Shower not cleaned bathroom not cleaned red sticky substance on the floor and door of bathroom. Breakfast was a mediocre. No sugar for coffee other than sween n low. Ran out of apple juice orange juice and everything in between. Coffee wasnt great. Girl working the breakfast area has her headphones in on the phone taking to someone you trying to get her attention was fun. Not to mention her conversation about her pay with hotel guests. The hotel needs a serious overhaul of staff and a deep clean. Hotel staff could care less. So if you find yourself in Adrian take advantage of the newer hotels in the area. We've stayed here in the past and it was great but in about 4 years it's done a 180. Thankfully they were running a promotion on our room $500 for the 7 days. But now we know why... Had other hotels not been booked we would have left. The hotel has the ability to be a nice place but definitely need some new staff.

This hotel has SEVERELY declined in the 9-10 months since I have stayed last. I have stayed here several times due to the proximity to the college and the low cost. I will not be returning. I paid extra for my 3 month old puppy to stay which I was fine with until when we got there he was sniffing in a corner by the bed and ate something. I have no idea what but I suspect it was some form of THC although judging by the clientele I saw I’m just glad it wasn’t crystal meth, my dog was not himself and I had to stay up most of the night to make sure he was ok. After 24 hours he was back to his normal behavior. THANK GOD. When I looked in the corner to see what he could’ve gotten into, I found a green goldfish cracker which I do understand that they have colored goldfish, but it did make me worry that there was somehow THC crackers on the floor. There was also some sort of red shaped candy. Looking thing that I picked up. There was also a weird little baby doll in the corner, leading me to believe that this room had not been vacuumed at all. I brought this to the attention of the front desk and asked that my room be vacuumed while I was gone for the day because I did have to stay two nights that did not get done. The stairwell door to the outside on the left side does not lock, concerning that anyone can just walk in. I was unable to get into my room easily as the card reader barely worked and I had to try SEVERAL times to get in my room. Another guest was having the same prob.

We love staying here when in Adrian visiting our daughter at college. The hotel is older but maintained and clean. The staff is wonderful and the rooms are quiet and comfortable. The breakfast is basic, but for the price it is as expected.
