Holiday Inn Express Birch Run-Frankenmuth Area by IHG

Nice breakfast options, easy check in and check out, needed some help in my room and they came immediately. The pool is nice and the jacuzzi is big and relaxing.

Overall the property was good, I have to say though, the rooms were nice, but the in room bathroom wasn't. Cracked paint, strained cellings and sticky floors. It almost looked like the rooms were renovated, but they forgot to do the bathroom. Pool was closed as was the hot tub, and it wasn't communicated when checking in or on the Expedia app. It was a bit of a bummer. However the location was perfect for shopping and dinning.

This hotel was great! The only thing that was not great was that the lobby area did not have air conditioning. So it was VERY hot eating breakfast. The breakfast was very good as well!

We absolutely love this hotel! The front desk receptionist provided a really good customer service experience, and the breakfast buffet was awesome! They had biscuits and gravy, bacon, pork sausage links, turkey sausage patties, pancakes, scrambled eggs, cheese omelettes, potatoes, all your normal continental breakfast foods, etc. The hot tub and pool area was really nice, they just need a little ventilation as the chlorine is super strong. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept great. We will definitely come back here!

Hot tube and the pool both felt amazing. Usually hotel pools are cold and hot tubs are to hot but the temperature was just right for both.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. I was looking forward to the Hot tub to relax, however it was very murky and had a disturbing smell. Door that we were told to go in to bring up our stuff was broken, key card wouldn’t work. For the price of the stay, I expected things to be a-little cleaner.

We have stayed here numerous times over the last decade. Our last stay prior to this was about 2 years ago and it was lovely. This time we were disappointed to see that the property has not been maintained as one would expect. From the outside it looks nice, but once inside you can see lots of signs of deterioration and uncleanliness. A chunk was missing from the bathroom door, our toilet was literally sinking into the filthy slate flooring. The toilet would not flush properly (we ended up needing to call for a plunger) after which it still needed to be flushed multiple times to get anything to go down. The drains drained poorly in the tub and sink, there was rust over every bathroom surface (some painted over, others not). Stains on the carpet, dust caked onto the air conditioner unit, stains on the wall, drawers that would not close all of the way blocking your walking path to the bathroom in the middle of the night and causing you to fall. We never had enough towels, even though we’d marked that 4 people would be staying in the room. I could go on, but you get the idea. I only wish that I’d thought to take pictures because then you would see these are no exaggerations. The two employees I did encounter were nice. We travel frequently and almost always choose a Holiday Inn or similar tier hotels due to a decent price point and typically nice and clean rooms. I’m not sure what’s happening here, but I don’t think we will be staying at this location again - sad.

Good location close to Frankenmuth, where we visit every year. However, the bathroom floor was in need of a good scrub, felt sticky. This is still a nice property, please don't let it fall in disrepair.

Cleanliness

Was very clean and comfortable room. After a long day at Frankenmuth this was greatto comeback to. The pool area was very clean. Hot coffe ready and waiting along with a welcoming staff. resting

Dirty and dingy. Bathroom needs deep clean and updates. Lobby was so hot couldn’t eat. Flys around food at breakfast. Pillows worst I have ever slept on. Severely over priced for the quality.

We wanted to spend the weekend in Frankenmuth for a quick trip for our 29th Anniversary. The room was very disappointing. The bathroom was dirty, water damaged with the wall bubbling. The tile outside the bathroom was broken. There was a foul smell. We totally overpaid. We will not stay here again. The window was moldy. We stayed in a jetted tub room. Room #121

They have BED BUGS! I went into the room and within an hour I found one in the bathroom. I went downstairs to check out and get a refund and they didn’t take it seriously. The lady had me show her up stairs in the room and when I showed her she literally smooshed it with her finger. This place is gross and would t recommend it to anyone!

Super outdated, and the beds really were hard. I had read reviews about the beds but didn’t really worry about it, I’m only in my 30s and my back was wrecked after sleeping two nights on the bed. The staff was super friendly, though!

Everyone was very kind. Room was clean. Only grievance is the bed/pillow. Woke up with neck & back pain.

The lobby was sweltering. Early July humidity made the lobby air heavy & sticky. It was obvious that the AC was broken. There was a lone fan behind the desk for the comfort of the staff, who were dripping with sweat while trying to reassure guests about the comfort of their stay. The staff was not knowledgeable about basic issues, like how to program the thermostat or even how to find FOX NEWS on the TV. She didn’t even know that Fox News is a major news network! When she attempted to call someone to help her with issues beyond her scope, she couldn’t reach any support staff for assistance. The King room was very basic. There was a chaise lounge thingy that was an awkward attempt at style. My husband & I have severe back issues, & sitting on the bed to watch TV was very uncomfortable. There was a large pretzel bite from someone else’s stay that was left on the floor under the bed, too, which didn’t inspire any confidence in the general cleanliness of the room. There was poor air circulation in our room. We were cold when the fan was blowing, & hot when it wasn’t. It was a vicious cycle all night long which didn’t provide any rest. If you are considering a stay at this Express hotel because it is affiliated with Holiday Inn, let me stop you right there. This is not the first-rate Holiday Inn of the past. It’s a neglected stepchild, so to speak. Quality is not a word I would associate with this hotel. Don’t waste your hard-earned money on a stay here.

Large, clean room; friendly staff; quiet; good location

Everything was very good. The bed was wonderful, the room was spacious and the breakfast was much better than most hotel breakfasts. Everything was wonderful and very clean.

Very dissatisfied with how the air conditioning works in the rooms. We have never seen a motion detected thermostat where it only runs if you’re in the room! Considering the cost of the room for one night you really aren’t getting what you’re paying for when it comes to comfort in the room. Room was extremely hot when we arrived, turned air on then we left for dinner. When we came back the room was back up to 77 degrees!!! It was extremely hot in the lobby and the hallways, the front desk gal, who had a fan running behind her, blamed it on the pool and hot tub. Those definitely would not have affected the hallways upstairs. It was evident that the air conditioning was being used as little as possible throughout the hotel. This was our first experience with an IHG hotel that was run like this.

The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and spacious. I don’t think the room was worth the rate charged. The sound proofing was terrible. It sounded like we were in a big city. The indoor soundproofing was equally as bad. It sounded like people were entering our room at times since the other doors were so loud.

We were right on the road side and the noise factor was great, except for the room noise. Hallway, room above, people walking/talking.

Great continental breakfast and comfortable beds. Clean. Small television and ABSOLUTELY THE SMALLEST SHORTEST TOILET I have ever seen. It made the stay difficult for 4 senior women, one of whom needs a cane and struggles with mobility. Time for an UPGRADE!!

Checked in early. Front desk was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Explained everything to satisfaction. Room was clean, spacious and well laid out. Bathroom was clean. The Dove products were a wonderful change from standard hotel fare. Breakfast was great. Good options including healthy choices. Close to the Premium Outlets and many dining options. Will definitely return.

I liked the hotel but I wish they had more safety installed for customers. There was a fight going on in the hallway and nobody came to break it up or called the police. It was disturbing as they were pushing and hitting each other. We were right next to the lobby and you could definitely hear the people yelling. I felt very unsafe. I will not be staying here again as a result.

The office staff at check in, were the kindest women I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. They were very happy & seemed like they enjoyed their job, and were happy to welcome you to stay. They also explained things to do in the area and told us every detail about the pool & breakfast. Was a very smooth check in as well.

Room was not serviced for the entire 4 days—even after asking, 2x. It morning, front desk bea Heavily in door—alarming—to tell me that no one was supposed to be in that room and demanded explanation… I suggested they consult amongst themselves as I had a key and was given direction to room; the idea didn’t seem to occur to them. Several excuses were given and “blame” attempted to be placed on me. When that didn’t work, excuses were Made. When speaking to manager, I realized where the problems originated…no apology given by manager, only excuses. Terrible—and I paid 20% extra to stay at what I thought would be a better experience.

The young lady that was there at the desk on Saturday evening is wonderful. She (Savana) was answering phones, checking in guests, mopping near the pool, folding towels, plunging the toilet for a guest, and still was pleasant and kind to each guest. We enjoyed a brief visit with her and she was such a a nice person. I just hope that she gets the credit that she earned and deserves. She was great ! Thank you

The front desk receptionist went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our stay! She really makes the place with her energy.

Was a quick trip. Sahara at the front desk was awesome and extremely friendly. Ill stay again next time in the area.

DO NOT STAY HERE Toilet was broken when I got to the room. The tub didn’t drain. The bathroom was disgusting. The AC was broken in the lobby and it was 98 degrees, we didn’t eat breakfast because it was so hot. I asked for a refund and the manager lied to my face, then lied to Expedia. Corporate is even less helpful.

We were greeted and assisted by a very friendly, hospitable staff and enjoyed a pleasant stay here. The hotel is conveniently located near Frankenmuth downtown, but also to other shopping areas and restaurants.

The best hotels are the ones you don't have to comment on. The property is close to the Birch Run outlets and Frankenmuth, it would be a good option for exploring both areas. The breakfast was good, standard hotel fare, but fresh and well prepared. I would recommend this hotel.

I took my wife, daughter and son-in-law to Frankenmuth and Birch Run for our start to the holiday experience and shopping. This property is perfectly located to both cities and was priced well compared to other hotels in the area andhad all the amenities covered.

All was great. Breakfast was great.

I always choose this hotel for the cleanliness and staff and bed comfort. I have to say the breakfast was also a huge part but we were disappointed this time. Breakfast was horrible...hard scrambled eggs that had a weird taste...cold cinnamon buns. Sausages not cooked enough.

The room wasn’t ready. We were on a non-smoking floor and all we kept smelling in our room was weed smell. They did come and spray some stuff but it still shouldn’t have happened. Breakfast was bad they knew the size crowd they were gonna have and should have been more prepared. A lot of the stuff was not filled so we had very little to pick from for breakfast. Front desk people were very courteous.

Visited from Ontario, one of the better hotels we've experienced in the states. Front desk staff was friendly and personable. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Hotel has an ice machine, vending machine, pool and complimentary breakfast. Breakfast has a variety of foods depending on dietery restrictions or preferences such as yogurts, pancakes, eggs, cereals, bacon, etc. Free coffee and water in the lobby all day. They even offered free shuttlebus transportation to the Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth. Will definitely come back when in the area.

Hotel great location to outlet and I75. Didn’t hear any room noise. Room was amazing, beds were sooo comfortable. Pool/hot tub was a different story, hot tub was lukewarm and both needed to have the tiles scrubbed clean. Breakfast which has a high standard with holiday Inn express to be great was a flop. The famous cinnamon rolls were cold! Bread items were hard. I was disappointed. Last.. smoking was located by front door so you had to walk through people smoking, so if you don’t smoke it’s awful.
