Dunes Express Inn and Suites

Great convenient place to stay to enjoy the dunes. Close to dinning options. Nice pool area.

This is our se cons time staying at Dunes Express Inn while visiting the dunes and area from Ohio with our off-road machine. This hotel is conveniently located, clean and very comfortable. We were attending a side-by-side event at Silverback Raceway. There was plenty of parking for our truck & trailer (along with many others that were attending the same event.) Breakfast is convenient and sufficient. Will definable stay here again on our next trip to the dunes.

Coffee maker in room did not work. No body soap in room. Nice pool and hot tub.

Awesome huge pool.

The hot tub wasn't working and someone pooped in the pool so they closed it early. That kind of ruined our stay as rhat was the whole reason we got a room there. But everything else was fantastic as always.

Nice pool, but busy with classes both swimming and aerobic. People not staying at hotel can swim or come in to use tanning rooms. Staff was friendly. Room average hotel.

We went to ride the Hart-Montague Bike Trail and found that the hotel had a connector right out the back door. Very convenient. Nice area to stay and easy to get to Ludington, Pentwater, Silver Lake, etc. Definitely would stay here again!

Great location and hotel for your money. Right off the expressway, and had gas and food right there. Great breakfast, better than your typical continental. Eggs, meat, make your own waffles, fruit, etc. Pool was refreshing and the hot tub didn't disappoint. Even had tanning available, but didnt use it.

No elevator

This is a beautiful property with excellent staff and beautiful pool and whirlpool. Only 2 complaints. The whirlpool was not hot at all the 1st nite, so I talked to Michelle, the night clerk and nite #2 it was wonderful. One recommendation, don't let wild boys in the WHIRLPOOL with pool noodles that were coming apart into pieces that will end up in the filter. And the chlorine was WAY too high in the whirlpool. The main pool was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The rooms were very clean, but not enough towels. Beautiful nicely decorated comfy rooms. Plenty of parking with super bright safety likes.Very much appreciate it we had our expensive bikes and many people had ATVS and UTES. And even some Dune buggies. Mediocre breakfast but plentiful with lots of options and great COFFEE. LARGE breakfast area with adequate seating. NO ELEVATOR.

Clean room and friendly staff.

We will not be staying here again. Staff was friendly, but the state of the hotel was not clean. Our room was smelly even after we removed trash from the previous tenants. There was no soap or shampoo in the room which staff were kind enough to provide after inquiring. The carpet was stained and dirty all about the hotel. The breakfast was better than most hotel breakfasts. Location is prime but not worth $230 for a standard room. We did not use the pool or hot tub.

Nice and clean.

Not the best. Good points: greeter was friendly, sheets looked clean. Needs improvement: carpeting was hideous filthy throughout inside and outside of room. Hairball found in bathtub drain, then tub had a slow drain. Free breakfast was underwhelming. Paid $260 for one night lodging that was worth $50 at best. Do not recommend, look elsewhere.

Our room was very clean and the hotel and surrounding area were very quiet.

The bathroom shower and floor were gross. Old soap left on top of shampoo. Grout is dirty.

Mold in the bathroom, beds never got made, dirty carpet. The place was gross!

The towels were folded with hair in the them and bedding had stains. The carpet had a smell and the tub was filthy as well as the shower curtain. The only positive is it was 12 mins away from silver lake.

Hotel room was poorly cleaned and maintained. There was a thick film of dust on most surfaces. When I cleaned surfaces (remote, door knobs, phone, etc.) with a sanitizing wipe, the wipe was brown. There was a continuous, loud high pitched noise coming from the bathroom plumbing. When room was checked by house keeping everyday, toilet paper and facial tissues were not refilled.

Room was not well cleaned. There was n o elevator to the second floor and partner had just sprained her ankle. Staff seemed unconcerned about cleanliness and did not heed our request to not send cleaning staff in the next day.

Chose this hotel for its proximity to the dunes and Silver Lake. check in and out was easy and staff were always pleasant. Our room was standard fare, nothing fancy but a clean place to lay your head with a lot of pillows, which is a nice touch. we had no weather issues during our stay and noticed the internet here isn't strong. water pressure was good and there were plenty of room amenities. the continental breakfast offered both hot and cold food items to start the day. the pool area is very large with tables and chairs and it is connected to a good sized outdoor area with a couple of picnic tables outside but the doors were locked from the inside of the pool area to access this area or walk completely around the building. There are no shade trees on grounds and no outdoor chairs like many hotels have, which was a disappointment bc the weather was beautiful and couldn't understand why not use that large outdoor area to its full advantage for customers, especially during the fall while its still warm out. Overall, its an average hotel, a bit dated and showing but at least its clean, the staff are nice and its a short drive to the lake and dunes

Room had a dirty random sock in the corner when we got there. Our mimi fridge didn't work. Beds were rock hard. Bathroom has no vent so everything in the bathroom is rusty. Bathtub stopper didn't work. The hot tub ( the reason I chose this place) was down half the trip. The keys cards cant be placed by your phone or walet or they loose thier programming and stop working. They offcourse don't tell you this.

Room was clean and spacious as i booked a suite with 1 king and separate queen bedroom however living area did not accommodate 3.

Stayed here for one night on our way to Leland. The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the breakfast was decent. We were by an outside door so it was a little noisy.

The location was ideal for our needs. The room was plenty big and the bathroom updating was a plus. The staff was friendly. The biggest complaint is that there is no fan in the bathroom. Not only does not having one create a ton of steam in the room, but a fan is really helpful creating some privacy when using the bathroom...as well as solving some other issues. The bathroom's door hinges were rusted because there's no ventilation. Also, the room is very dated. I read other reviews where people complained about the rooms looking tired and I can see why. It's pretty barebones. A tiny TV, no artwork (even the ugly kind), the furniture is outdated, and the wallpaper was old and literally splitting at the seams. The little table and single chair they had was by an outlet that was too big to allow a plug to stay inserted. It repeatedly fell out. I moved to another outlet and it was barely any better. And the freestanding lamp had a burned out lightbulb (and one was also out in the bathroom). The last thing that should definitely be added is a sheer curtain on the window. All our room had was the heavy curtains. If you pull them open you see the parking lot. It wasn't possible to get any natural light into the room without everyone seeing right in. That made my girls and I very uncomfortable. Every hotel I've been in that costs $250 a night has had decent window coverings.

Felt like everything was in the 1990s. No soap bars in room. No lotion in the room. TV remote with tape holding in the batteries. TV movies all from the 90s. 90s room phone (just like rotary dial but with push buttons). … It got the job done, but don’t expect extras.

It wasnt bad the first day but the second day was horible. We where awaken(1130 pm) by guest above our room. Thier kids was playing soccer in the room. We went to the front desk and complained, we went to the front desk and complained again. Finally we went to the room where the noise was coming from and asked them to stop. Next morning , 545am went to get coffee, no coffee. 615 they finally put out fresh coffee. This all happened an the evening of Aug. 2nd and into the morning of Aug 3rd. Very poor service from this individual working.

Beds were very firm, pillows were kind of small. Everything pretty outdated especially the TV. Pretty sure the channels were as old as the TV somehow and I’m not joking- programs from the early 2000s. Wasn’t easy to entertain the kids at night with the tv. A kids show or movie would have been nice. Nothing super special but will do when booking last minute and nothing else is available. Easy to park the dune vehicles/trailers.

Convenient to what I was looking for and very close to the highway. very spacious as well .

The hotel already looks very dated. The service was excellent.

We've stayed here a few times over the last couple years. Breakfast, pet friendly, availability, proximity to Silver Lake are all reasons we choose this hotel. Staff is always welcoming and helpful. Hotel is clean and room are good sized!

Checking in lady wasn't friendly quite cranky. Other staff at desk pleasant. Too many chemicals in pool. No elevator i have 2 bad knees. But was a nice place.

I am aware of this being a small town; however, we’re paying big city prices for the rooms. Certain things are expected. The staff wasn’t friendly at all. The carpet in the hallway is disgusting. It needs to be replaced. The lock to my room did not work. The TV channel lineup was horrible. The TVs are way too small. The windows open, but my window screen had huge holes in it. A small animal could definitely fit through one of the holes. The beds were clean.

Property was nice. Definitely needs some updates to rooms. My window didnt lock and there were no tv channels for kids in my room. The hot tub and pool was great. But, chlorine was very strong, burned my eyes. Just needed to open more windows in pool area. Complementary breakfast was great. When i went to check out and leave my keys the lady was very rude and looked at me like, "what do you need"? Not a great attitude.

Staff very friendly. One of the heaters didn't work in our original room, they moved us right away to an equivalent room. Rooms were clean and I'm good condition.

Some staff went over and beyond (When our room key would not work, they accommodated us on the busiest day of the year and had another room made up for us). While others just seemed angry and was of no help, wanted to check in couple hours early due to rain and they was not even busy and she's Like Check in is at 3 with a snotty voice.

The closeness to the Sand Dunes yet no too close where we felt the wind from Lake Michigan.

Location: close to dunes. Breakfast: hot items, fruit, English muffins, bagels included. (Nice seating area). Bed/ pillows: comfy. Staff helpful and nice!

Very clean with a great pool for the whole family. The free beakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay here again! We stayed during the 4th of July and this hotel is located far enough away from the busy-ness of town to not cause stress with noise or traffic, but close enough that the drive isn't a burden. WONDERFUL STAY

Not much to eat late night

This place is old and outdated. Breakfast was gross and limited. Eggs were cold. Sausage gravy was too. Bed was horribly uncomfortable and the linens need to be replaced

I was a bit anxious about traveling with my 90lb rottweiler. The staff all went out of their way to love up my Lucy girl. Room was clean,, and the free breakfest waa good.

We were never able to enjoy the breakfast. Food was either gone or picked over. Ignored when asked to refill the eggs. The room and the water smelled. Had to throw away a washcloth. It appeared to have a blood on it.

Room was nice, clean and well maintained. Staff was helpful. Nice breakfast with biscuits and gravy, omelets, waffles and other breakfast items. Coffee and tea all day long. Nice pool. Short drive to the dunes. We enjoyed our stay!

It’s a motel. So you can’t expect much. Common areas are nice and clean. Room was good, clean. Service is lacking though. 9 am and breakfast had very little. When asked the staff answer was “Humm…?” Otherwise, a good spot near the Silver lake…for a night or 2.
