Everything nice place hot tub and sauna need work though

Water park was dirty, to much chlorine. Poor amenities. Great service. Nice size suites. Close to everything

Everything was great besides the waterpark and pool area was cold , it was cold and snowy outside I understand but they need to turn the water up some and the heat on . That is the main reason I stayed at this place . My grandkids were very cold in the water .

The Crown Choice Hotel and Waterpark used to be the Crown Jewel in Mackinaw City when I was younger. This trip, the front staff didn’t know how to get us to our room except going outside in the rain (we could have taken the stairs in the lobby to second floor and gotten there); the Junior Suite we stayed in wasn’t cleaned when we requested, and there were no utensils provided as they have been prior. The breakfast option is no longer — LOTS of space that is unused or unadvertised sadly and not taken care of! The waterpark that was so beloved has broken faucets (9 that I counted!), the pool and hot tub were not cleaned, and the drain covers were broken, and the sauna is missing a knob so that is out of service for something that is an easy fix. There is so much work to be done during the winter season for the staff to do in order for us to stay again. Also, the breakfast coupons for the Lighthouse Restaurant were NOT accepted; we paid full price for breakfast and had a horrible server. Probably this was my worst experience in MC.

Very dated but clean. The water park was why we stayed, but it isn’t open in the mornings and the water for the water slides wasn’t working which was unfortunate.

Overall an okay place to stay if its an overnight. Didnt like the hours of the waterpark. Could've been eariler to get in before 2. Water was severly cloudy and yet you could smell all the cholrine used.

This hotel was fine for the two nights we stayed. The water park is the only amenity and it was okay. The hot tub area wasn’t so hot and the jets didn’t work. Our room felt very sticky and didn’t cool off and they did switch us rooms right away. The hotel is within walking distance which is nice. I really did miss not having a free breakfast and they even have a really nice place to have one at the hotel. I wouldn’t likely stay here again.

Issues with the tv and no one at the pool ensuring kids/people behave appropriately and safely. I was told there was an attendant but never saw one. Hot tubs weren’t heated to normal hot tub heat. Just warmer than pool.

Pool filter was not properly filtering out things floating in the pool. The amount of chlorine in the pool was acceptable, however the water was very cloudy, had a lot of foreign matter floating in the pool and wasn’t the best kept up.

Both the pool and hottub are dirty and cloudy with green slime on the walls. We had to go to the hotel across the street to swim.

Weird hours for the pool but other then that almost every room was disgusting, from the white spots on the couch to the ants under beds. There was mold on the shower curtain so we didn't use it while showering but what's funny about that is we had to take military showers because the tub wouldn't drain properly. I'm just glad there wasn't bed bugs. Just not a good experience and we left early because the longer we stayed the most disgusting stuff we found.

Bathroom had been used. Carpet had not been vacuumed Fan in bathroom sounded like a jet taking off Zero sound blockage from hallway Door handle to patio was broken Boats and trailers in lot made parking quite a challenge

Mold everywhere. Absolutely the most disgusting stay at a hotel I’ve ever had. They refused to refund any money. We left right away.

Staff were excellent. Room was musty and stunk like mold. Sinuses have been bad since the stay, clothes and luggage still stink left luggage outside when we arrived home. Vehicle interior still smells. The last stay there was excellent.

Room was not clean found a pill on floor. Blood spot on my sheet. Place is in bad shape. Will never stay again.

My Mom and I just got home today from visiting. It was probable the dirtiest hotel I can remember staying in. The bed sheets were stained or dirty, the mattress pad looked like someone had peed a large area over it. I asked for new bedding our first night. The lady at the front asked me if there was a yellow bin on our floor. There wasnt, so I came back down and told her there was not. She came back to our room and handed me all new sheets to change myself. The mattress pad was disgusting. I ended up completely stripping my bed and I told them I did. No apology whatsoever. The day before we left I advised the housekeeper I needed complete over haul on my bedding. We had been gone all day and came back to still our room not serviced. It wasnt until I complained again to the front desk and after 6pm before our room was somewhat serviced. Beds made, new towels. No vacuum, no dusting. The sliders were caked with finger prints and smeared grease. The slider on one side screen was completely ripped about up 3 feet...couldnt leave that open because of bugs. The faucet leaked and created constant water puddling on the vanity. I would wake up with my makeup bag sitting in water. The cabinet the fridge is in, was also disgusting with dust bunnies and just dirt. It takes a lot for me to leave a nasty review. This hotel should be turned in for how dirty and lack of maintenance it showed. People were lazy, never went the extra mile to make you feel like your business here mattered.

Person at the front desk was a bit aloof and expected us to know where our room was and where the pool/waterpark were. The rooms were filthy…mildew all over the bathroom, mold under the kitchenette sink…stains on the ceilings where it looked like a bug was squashed, stains on the covers of the bed and the pillows. Floors were so dirty that the bottoms of our feet turned black. Musty overall smell. Pool/waterpark were ok but very run down. Will not ever stay here again or recommend this place.

Trying to find our room was ridiculous

The hotel was clean but the locks on the balcony doors did not work. We did try 4 rooms and all 4 rooms did not have a proper lock at the balcony doors.

The property is dated and a little worn down. However, I really like that the room looked like it was set up for an "extended stay" because it had a small living room (with its own door) separate from the bedroom which was nice because we were traveling with kids. Also, there was a small kitchen space so we had a nice place to lay out snacks which is also good to have with kids.

The balcony view was great and the room was nice and comfortable. No breakfast at the hotel but we prefer to go eat on our own so went to Audie's. The did give a buy 1 get 1 free coupon for Toast A Go Go which is a walkable restaurant nearby. Quiet. Didn't like that the elevator required you to walk outside the building but otherwise it was a nice place and location to the ferry was perfect.

Our room was not as expected. There was mold in the corners of the room and the wall paper was coming off the walls from possible moisure in the room. The bed definitely needed to be replaced and felt like an old camper mattress. Thin, springy, and concaving to the center. Will not be staying again.

Easy access to boat shuttle to Macanac Island. Front desk staff helpful with ordering extra tickets for boat. Coupons available for area. Location was nice. Our room seemed like ab afterthought to the hotel. Room on 4th floor but elevator only to 3rd floor. In an area by a large conference room and a 15 steps to get to our floor through the conference area. Back doors always open and unlocked to rooms so did not feel safe and secure since anyone could walk into building and have all floor access. Rooms adequate, beds comfortable, great pillows, and facility was clean. Had a good time. Would we stay there again? Probably!!!

It's a nice hotel located just steps away from Mackinac Island ferry, but it is in a need of renovation. We have been placed on the 4th floor, but the elevator is located on the opposite side from the lobby which is not very convenient.

The suite was spacious and clean. We had a screened in porch and chairs off of our bedroom. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The waterpark was great for kids. It’s right across from Lake Huron’s beach

Over all a good stay. My only gripe is that the wi-fi is so slow that it was basically unusable. I had to use my hotspot on my phone to be able to use the internet

The check in online originally said 3pm (it was changed after I commented on it). I went at 1pm hoping for an early check in (since check outs everywhere are 11am) where the kind woman at the counter told me she would call me once our room was ready. I sat around waiting and wasting an entire day of our trip. I called at 2:45 asking if our room was ready and I was informed it’s actually 5pm check in. Shocked, I explained online it said 3 when I booked and they told me they weren’t sure when it would be ready. They called almost a hour later stating it was now ready, but that’s almost 5 hours we could have spent at the beach instead of waiting for our room had we just been told from the beginning a general idea on when our room would be done. It was a bit disappointing that knowing we were trying to check in early at 1pm no one made that a priority when clearly the previous guests were out at 11am. The water park and pools were nice, but as dated as that room was for the cost for a week day stay, a 5pm check in (PS, the pools and water park don’t open til 2pm, so can’t use them day 2) seems a waste of time and money. Wish we could have spent more time actually using the accommodations we paid for but sat off resort for 5 hours waiting for our “early checkin” instead. Better communication in this situation would have changed much of this review.

5:00 pm check-in time is tough when trying to make a trip with children. Called first thing in the morning to request a 1-2 hour early check-in. Arrived at 3:45 and they had not even started cleaning our room. Could not check in until 5:15 pm. Both phones in the room didn't work, first TV was not plugged in, second did not work. Carpet was dirty, sheets stained, and bathroom grimy. Waterpark and pool area was overcrowded, water dingy and murky, and no oversight causing an unsafe area for children. Tried to checkout at 8:30 am to find the front doors locked; had to drive down the road and across the street to another hotel to checkout. On a positive note, the pillows were soft.

Friendly staff

Our experience at this motel was a bit frustrating.I hate complainers so I'll express only the most important things. In order to check in we had to check in across the road. The hot tub was not "hot"( which can allow bacteria to grow, that made me nervous to use it at all) and the water park system kept breaking down. The hours of operation are limited so that makes it a "pain" when it breaks again! Our 2nd night the water park was working again and there was a man who was intoxicated and wouldn't leave us alone. We ended up heading up to our room after about 45 minutes because the man was making us uncomfortable and in our face. Needless to say the kids were disappointed and since we were leaving the next day and the waterpark doesn't open till 2 pm we didnt have a chance to try to enjoy it one last time

The lady at the front desk was rude & unresponsive when spoken too (we had said thank you for various things and she said nothing each time). When another party let her know that the lobby coffee was out she did not even make eye contact or verbally respond but she rather shuffled slowly over appearing very annoyed. The headboard was broken in the room and couch and each bed was sandy along with the floor, the outdoor light (entryway) was also out. Pool did not open until 2pm so if you chose to stay there to swim- it’s not an option until mid afternoon.

Check in was easy and the receptionist was very friendly. Our room was spacious and clean and had a very nice view. We love the closeness to town and Lake Huron along with a pleasant walk to the Mackinac Bridge. We always look forward to staying at Crown Choice Inn & Suites. Thank you for having an awesome staff!

Our room was not ready when we arrived at 5:30pm. We waited for a half hour to get into the room. All the hallways on our floor were filled with trash bags and linen bags. The room was as expected. Not bad at all. It was tight to find parking, but we luckily found a space each night.

The staff was incredibly friendly and the hotel itself was really clean. They take pride in making sure you experience at the hotel is great

The hotel staff was WONDERFUL and really made our stay that much better, very friendly and attentive staff! The hotel was charming with an excellent location and plenty to do. Definitely recommend and exceeded our expectations:)Thank you!

Staff was not kind or helpful. We called a few days prior to arriving to let the staff know we would be there but arriving pretty late. They said no problem someone is there 24 hours. Nope. We had to go to a different hotel because there was no staff at our hotel. The lobby and stairwell out of the lobby smelled of cigarettes and marijuana. When we did get to our room no heat was on and the room was around 50 degrees. Took forever to warm up. Overall not a good experience. Would not recommend or stay again.

Dated building. My friend and I ended up with an extremely strange, dated room that we had to go through a maze to get to. While going through that maze it felt like we were walking through a ghost town of rundown restaurants and unused banquet spaces. We were unable to even find the ice machine near our room. It was clean and were only there for one night so we made do. Great location too so that made it more bearable.

We had a nice stay on the July 4th. Easy walk to the shops and the fireworks. Parking is convenient. Room is nice.

This is the first time trying this hotel and i will use it again. Good location in town and a good view of the waterfront.

It is a very outdated hotel. The staff was very nice. Our blow dryer was broken and the lady at the desk gave me one right away. It’s very outdated. Definitely not up kept with maintenance. If something is broken? It’s definitely not getting fixed. Very convenient for walking distance to anywhere. The water park was ok, again just not kept up on or cleaned correctly. Overall ok for the price.

Great location and the water park is a lot of fun if you have kids. There’s also a group area with a game room if you’re there with a group.

Transportation easy for island

Things we liked - Sheplers provided shuttle service, price, view from balcony Things we didn’t like - mini fridge froze our food. I was sure when I made reservations that breakfast was provided (it is no longer mentioned in the listing). Breakfast is always something I check for when making reservations. There was no breakfast, just a BOGO coupon for another establishment. There was only coffee available in the lobby - no hot water for tea. I think they could have done a little better in the area of morning offerings.

The room was extremely cold upon check in and took 8 hours to get up to a comfortable temperature. Breakfast was not available, likely due to seasonal off time.

The Crown Choice is definitely dated and in need of updates. There was No restaurant in the hotel (although they did offer a coupon for buy one breakfast get second free at a restaurant down the street which was outrageously expensive).

I liked the location of the property. I didn’t like that they showed that their was a continental breakfast, which there was not. They also don’t state that the water park is not located inside the hotel, you have to walk outside and access it and then walk back to your room wet outside in the cold. The room was OK. There was mold and dirt all on the window and sills, and in the corner of the bathrooms. We also found a bag in the closet and a toy by the cough which made me believe they didn’t clean very throughly. The water park had so much chlorine your eyes were burning, and they left the doors wide open in 40 degrees which made the water park cold and not pleasant. The pool was so full of chlorine and cloudy you couldn’t see your hand under the water and the kids section of the water park and black floaty stuff floating in the water everywhere. I wouldn’t recommend and won’t be going back.

My kids had a decent time at the water park, which was our reason for staying here. The room was musty and the beds were super uncomfortable. No breakfast, which was listed at booking. The front porch “balcony” area was full of leaves and had some cigarette butts.

Only thing I wish is that you guys utilized that beautiful breakfast room and did breakfast at least on the weekends
