Motel 6 Norway MI

First visit here was great, got a room last minute. Our room was on the first floor, beds were comfortable. Second stay was meh. We were on the second floor which isn't ok if you have a lot of stuff you're bringing in like we did. They don't have an elevator so we ended up hauling our stuff up and down the stairs. Second floor looked to be renovated recently since there was small drywall pieces along the floor. Our beds were the worst. Rock hard. The place is quiet though, safe. Hot tub is actually hot. Desperately need to get new chairs in the pool area though. If youre looking for a cheap one night stay, definitely your place, otherwise I might suggest elsewhere for a longer stay.

We stopped for night after going to a Packers game. Staff was super friendly. Loved the pool and hot tub being adult only after 10pm. I was able to relax. Made our next leg of our trip home relaxing after a great night sleep. Recommended them

Was looking forward to the pool just to arrive and find it was closed. Such a huge disappointment. Then we couldn’t even cancel to find a better hotel if we wanted to. For the price they should have also offered fruit and/or donuts.

I liked the location and the area was quiet. Only qualm I have is the lack of an elevator for when you arrive and have suitcases. And the deposit of 20.00 for a second key. A little outrageous.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. It’s not terrible for the price but here are some things to know and what could be improved: There are no elevators to get to the second floor. The hall carpets are stained, several things are taped as though painting was just done but they have been like that for over a year, the comforters are awful as the stuffing is squished into clumps within the stitching, the fridge in room is tiny to make it almost unhelpful at all, and an extra room key requires a $20 deposit. The pool and hot tub were clean and fun. They even have toys and balls there for kids to play with. Overall, it’s a cheap price for a reason, but it’s better than most hotels at the same price point.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Great service, the pool and hot tub were great way to relax at the end of the day after road-trips to see sites around the UP. We will definitely be back.

My room was clean and relatively spacious. The staff at the desk were courteous Everything worked in my room. In general, those things were fine. But there were some unusual things. Biggest, was the hotel fire alarm went off at 5:00 a.m. Not a fire, but a significant inconvenience. No harm came to anyone, but guests all cleared out of our rooms. A few guests waited outside in the 35 degree temps. Not an emergency, thank goodness. Still, it took about 20 minutes to get someone who knew how to shut the alarm off. Training error on management, in my opinion. Hot tub. Warm-ish one night, lukewarm the next. Too cold to enjoy. Room itself--I agree with one reviewer's observations that there aren't enough outlets. I had to unplug their clock radio to have an outlet to charge my phone on on the night stand. Only one lamp on one of the night stands, nothing on my side of the bed. Also, possibly the smallest, least comfortable pillows of any hotel I've ever stayed at. I routinely bring my own pillow from home. If I had not done so, would not have been able to sleep with the ones on the bed. I can't say I'd never stay there again, as the location is convenient in the small town where my family is located, but I will have to keep my expectations low.

You get what you pay for when staying at a motel 6. Wasnt by any means expecting a lavish stay. However, the main reason we booked was to have access to the pool. It was closed the duration of our stay. We had been told by the desk clerk the pool would open once the chemicals in the pool where up to code. When we asked for an update on the pool , another desk clerk informed us that the pool would remain closed for our stay. If we had been told at check in this would be the case we would have went elsewhere. On a positive note, the room was at least clean.

We wanted to stay in Norway as we had a family reunion that saturday. Invconvenient that exterior door was locked and had to wait for front desk to open it before you could check in.. Only one guest key per room - inconvenient again. felt the desk person was somewhat rude and very confusing. Need an elevator for suitcases if second floor. People smoked right outside the exit door. Very smelly and messy should be a designated area. Saturdays front desk people were pol;ite and helpful. stayed here years before when it was adifferent brand andit was much cleaner then

Room was only 42 degrees even with the heater turned all the way up … the pool was an ice cube kid couldn’t even swim because it was so cold….

The cleanest motel I've been to.

I recently stayed at the Motel 6 in Norway, MI and would call it “just okay.” The biggest plus was that they don’t charge an extra fee for dogs, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the designated dog room I was given needed a lot more attention. The bed skirting had visible pet stains, and the floor still had that telltale “pre-vacuum dust.” The overall scent of the room — combined with lingering pet odors — made my nose so stuffed up I could hardly breathe. When I mentioned it at the desk, the attendant was polite and apologetic, but instead of moving me to another room, she simply suggested I use the bed that “didn’t have pee on it.” My request for a different room was kindly refused, which was disappointing since I had just checked in. The pool and hot tub were technically open and “clean-ish,” but the water in the hot tub looked cloudy enough that I decided to skip it. Overall, you get what you pay for here. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great either. With a little more effort in cleaning and upkeep, this Motel 6 could be much better. As it stands, I’d stay again only if there were no other budget-friendly options in the area. Otherwise, it might be worth checking Escanaba or nearby alternatives.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, great hot tub!

They had super dirty hallways and enterances, our room had damage, bugs and dirty sheets. Even if it is the dog room, we dont want to sleep in other peoples filth. The front desk staff was friendly housekeeping was very friendly but theyre not bad.

My room was dirty and an old lazyboy! Floor was dirty and sticky

The coverings on the box springs and mattress were very dirty and stained. I asked for them to be changed. Was told they would be and they were not. Did not even make the bed. They also did not clean the coffee maker.

The room was clean, hotel clean, bed and pillows were perfect, it was quiet. One of the best sleeps I've had in a long while!

This property needs serious cleaning and maintenance. Perhaps it is currently being renovated. The hallways and stairs were filthy! Couldn’t see out of the windows because they were so dirty. Siding was broken. Garbage cans overflowing.

This was the cleanest hotel I believe I’ve ever stayed in. Room didn’t have a single trace of someone having been there before me!

Staff, clean room, hot tub in room, but wished the fireplace would work instead of just for looks.

Old. Needs remodeling. Furniture out dated. Desk clerk very nice, friendly and helpful with tv set up.

This property looks like an update was started at some point but stopped. Our room had no pictures on walls, but mounting hardware for 3 pictures still on wall. That was experience throughout property.

Dirty floors, stuff falling off of walls. Tiny tv, horrible wifi in the room. No drinks allowed in pool area. I wanted to just sit and have a drink watching my kids in the pool and they wouldnt allow any drinks in the pool area. Ive never been to a pool where i couldnt take a couple cans of high noond in and just relax.What kind of relaxing can you do just sitting there? I womt stay there again.

I stayed in town for a memorial service. Beds aren’t very comfortable. My daughter woke up with a sore back. The staff was kind and the location was quiet. It was nice seeing the woods out of our back window.

Very friendly staff who went out of their way to be helpful moving me to first floor when I forgot to request it because of accessibility difficulties. Helped me out with a stamp from their own purse for a birthday card that needed mailing, which made my day not having to go into town to post office. Thank you!

Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We stayed here December 29–30 as part of a holiday ski trip and rented 9 rooms. We paid for multiple nights and left early because conditions were so bad. From check-in onward, staff were hostile, rude, and completely unprofessional. We were told we couldn’t gather in the lobby or pool area, with staff inventing a “10 PM closure” that was posted nowhere. At 10 PM, the manager stormed into the pool and screamed at children to “get out,” citing rules that were also not posted. Later, the front desk threatened to call the police if we didn’t all return to our rooms by 10 PM — something I’ve never experienced at any hotel, ever. The parking lot was unplowed more than 36 hours after snowfall, creating unsafe conditions. Staff wrongly accused one of our group of parking dangerously, then never apologized when proven wrong. Rooms and lobby were dirty — crumbs, candy, dirt under beds and in furniture. Smoke detectors in the hallway were taped over, which is terrifying and appears to be a fire code violation. Only one key per room was allowed unless you paid a $20 deposit. The next day, the pool was suddenly “closed” with no explanation. Staff wore pajamas, made up rules, and treated paying guests like criminals. All nine rooms moved to another hotel. Save yourself the stress. Stay literally anywhere else.

They are extremely rude they charge for everything even if you late for check out for 10 minutes they want to bill you 30$ and then when you keep calling them they never answer back. The rooms are ok same indian management motel so no customer service

Staff smoking weed outside by entrance, not everyone wants to smell that. I asked for another entry key card at check in and was told I would have to pay a 20.00 deposit. Are you kidding me!! Tacky, tacky..

This property is currently being remodeled which means that there are a lot of tools and supplies all around and a bit of dust. The intercom phone to call the front desk from the front doors was not working , so we had to call the motel phone from our cell phone. We were finally let in. The phones in the hotel were also not working and there is never anybody at the front desk. When they finally did show up, the customer service was abysmal. This stay was definitely sub par.

I was in Norway for a couple days to do some whitewater rafting on the Peshtigo ( 1 hour away) and the Menominee ( 5 minutes) rivers. Theres a couple good local grills and 10 minutes from Iron Mountain.

Was more in secluded area but close to everything.

Nice quiet area to rest after a long day of travelling.

The motel is in good condition and in the process of getting updated. The room was clean but had a slightly musty smell when the fan was blowing. The motel is set back from the road, but the location seemed very safe. The employee was able to recommend a couple of local restaurants. Free coffee. No breakfast. The pool looked inviting, but we didn't use it.

The property was clean and in a good location. No breakfast, but tea and coffee all day. The front desk lady complained the whole time checking us in: from other guests and their issues, to occupancy, to her insulin detector and the cost incurred. Then her and other workers (her family?) spent more time complaining about kids in the pool and having to deal with them when they wanted to swim. You can only get 1 key card and must not lose it or there is a $20 fee. There is also a $20 deposit per extra key card you require for your party during your stay and again must return all keys or incure the $20 charge per key.

Water for tea not hot.

Just basic for what we needed. No breakfast and very few amenities. Older facility not well kept. Beautiful area

Since Motel 6 took over they sort of painted the exterior white. It looks awful. The inside is still fine. If you've stayed there before be warned there's no breakfast or doughnuts and no shampoo or lotion on the room. Our room was clean and everything worked.

Stayed here because it's close to my daughter's house. It's in need of updating. Most of the staff were friendly. No breakfast, just granola bars and cereal bars.
