Tamarack Lodge

Our stay at The Tamarack Lodge was fantastic from check in to check out. The staff was friendly, welcoming, helpful and efficient. Our suite was super clean, quiet and well equipped. We had a lovely view of the bay from our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite with a full kitchen. It had everything we needed for our stay. The lobby area is beautiful and clean with plenty of areas to sit and relax. Including a cozy area with a huge stone fireplace! There was an area in the lobby that was well stocked with fresh coffee all day and cookies available in the evening. We will definitely keep The Tamarack Lodge in mind the next time we plan a stay in Traverse City.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Tamarack Lodge. We are a family of four with two young kids and the room set up was so perfect for us. The room was huge, and I mean HUGE. The separate bedrooms and main living area gave us freedom as parents after the kids went to bed to relax and the balcony was perfect for watching the sunsets. Everything was impeccably clean every single day and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The lounge chairs and beach area were so convenient and our kids loved playing in the sand and looking for treasures along the beach. We highly recommend staying here for any family but it would also be such a great stay for a couple.

The doors and cabinets are custom made with solid wood and panels. The common areas are also clean and well appointed. Plenty of space to hang out and relax. The grounds around the property are the same. Clean and well maintained. Very nice beach with a gazebo and bar-b-q grills. Our suite was roomy and very comfortable. There was a nice kitchenette, sitting area, balcony overlooking the bay. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The suite included a washer & dryer, full size fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and cook top. The bedroom was small but contained a king size bed. Even the fire exit stairways were clean and nice with wall sconce lighting and tile floors and steps. Super nice property. I would recommend it to anyone. I plan to stay there again.

Stayed at Tamarack Lodge during the “offseason” for a bicycle event in Traverse City. Welcoming and friendly staff upon arrival and throughout stay. Penthouse bayside room was a very nice touch. Kitchen had everything we needed for a self- supported bike weekend. I do wish the bar area was more stocked and staffed. Understandable that seeing it was the offfseason. Also, no recycling?

The parking is extremely limited here. You're only allowed 1 parking spot per party. Additional parking is across the street behind a gas station. Very strange. Other than that is was great.

3rd time here, it's always great. The rooms are spectacular, and the facility is wonderful. Only downside is just 1 parking spot available per room - not good if you have visitors or a room full of adults.

Checked in 2pm. Received a phone call 2 hours later saying I couldn't park my truck with my snowmobile in the parking lot. They demanded I unhook the trailer with the snowmobile on it and park it across the street behind the Speedway in a vacant lot. I told them I wouldn't do that. I parked at the farthest point from the front door. They said something would have to change for the next day and I refused again. After parking the first evening, the plow truck driver gave me the same hard time and I told him I refused to leave my trailer in a vacant lot across the street. That was the last I heard from anyone. Very rude about what was a non issue. The bar was not open either. Something about the transfer of a liquor license.

Beautiful property with a private beach and common area grills and fire pits. The suites were spacious, clean and extremely well equipped with all kitchen necessities. We traveled as a family with a small toddler and found the noise levels to be a bit excessive; we could hear conversations and the tv in the adjoining room until late hours. The room had a bit of a strange odor, perhaps due to the carpet. All in all, a fine stay but would not recommend for families with small children, better suited for an older crowd.

Overall it’s definitely not worthy of the price we paid for the room. There’s also no pool and soooo many spiders around the sitting areas outside

Need snow mobile/boat trailer parking. Only1 parking space per unit, even if in a 3br unit.

Unit was very quiet, clean, and well decorated. The balcony had a nice view of the bay and the fireplace provided cozy warmth on a cold evening.

The property is beautiful! All the amenities in our room. We had room 104 the 2 bedroom suite. I am floored at the attention to detail. Everyone here is so friendly. Everything was clean & the views are amazing. I hope to be able to stay with our family during the summer. We will absolutely be back! What a Gem!

For an off-season charge of $315 per night we got a tiny room with no exterior window and a door between rooms with no sound deadening. We could hear every word of conversation from our neighbors plus the lovely sound of one of them violently vomiting in the middle of the night. In addition we asked for restaurant recommendations and the desk clerks informed us that they didn’t really know the restaurants in the area. As for plusses, the bed was comfortable … that’s about it. We will not be returning.

Pros - Beautiful architecture. - Comfortable bed. - Great water pressure. - Clean. - Excellent private beach. - Very friendly staff. - Perfect location for exploring near by area. Cons - Windows in room lead to hallway rather than outside so you have no natural light into the room. - Only had breakfast offered on Saturdays. For the price you pay for the room breakfast should be included. - There is virtually no soundproofing between the walls. Heard every conversation our neighbors had. Overall it’s an excellent lodge, but for the price I think you could find a better option that includes the things this place is missing.

Suite 301 - great view. Clean and comfortable. We turned on the fireplace and enjoyed. HOWEVER, because the thermostat is in the same area the heat pump wouldn’t run to heat the rest of the condo. Very cold. Toilet every hour had to run to refill the tank. Reported, service came but did not resolve the issue. Also we could not get the microwave to work. We do like this place and will be back.

This property is great! The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware and glasses. The 2 bedroom suite was very spacious and great for families. Balcony view was amazing! Bathrooms were very large. Washer and dryer was convenient. It was a great place to stay!

Nice property on the water, very limited amenities, room we stayed in is a part of suite separate by a door, can hear everything the guests are saying,I assume they were just the same.I definitely wouldn’t stayed there if I knew that.

We loved it!! Room was huge and view was amazing!! They upgraded us to 2 bedroom suite. Traveling with kids, it was best!! We would definitely be back! This was one of the best place!!

Overall it is a very nice property. We had a 1 bedroom unit. Bed was comfortable. Linens are nice. Shower was nice. Kitchen was good. Staff was exceptionally welcoming. Only minor issues were the heat in our unit was just a dial that turned (warm - cold). No normal thermostat. It was very hot all the time in our room. It was hard to sleep because of that. We had it turned all the way to cold and it didn’t help, even though it was 25 degrees outside. Tried opening a window, but that just made the heat crank more. Also, the couch and chair in the living area look cute but are horribly uncomfortable.

Poor soundproofing between adjoining rooms. I rarely share reviews, but I felt an obligation for future guests. The party in the 2 bedroom suite that adjoined our 1 bedroom room by a single door continued to talk at a high volume and it was as if they was in our room. It was bad enough that my wife went to the front desk to see if the staff could ask the guest to be more quiet. She was informed that there was no option of moving to another room because the lodge was at full capacity. The guest in the adjoining suite continued to talk at the same unusually very high volume throughout the rest of the evening as if they was communicating loudly right in our room. During the evening of our 3rd night, it was the same as the evening before, so I went to the front service desk and requested to be moved to another room because of the continued situation. The kind front desk staff member called the manager and explained the continued problem 2 evenings in a row and the management's answer was that we could be moved to a similar room and would be charged an extra $50.00 cleaning fee, which was very unreasonable , for one reason we had paid for 3 nights and if we were checking in for one night we wouldn't have been charged the extra $50.00 rate. The property and front desk staff are very nice and my honest review should kindly share, that just plan on verbally sharing a room with other guest and / or plan on a $50.00 charge if you are moved to a different room.

We were extremely happy with our entire 3-day Valentine’s Day stay, from check-in to check-out!!! The facility was beautiful and well maintained, and each one of the staff was friendly and professional. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to share our getaway together! Outstanding!!!

Upon arriving we were pleasantly greeted by the frint desk staff with friendly faces. Bridge was the kindest and most welcoming front desk agent my wife and I have ever met. She asked us where we were coming from and how our journey was. We explained we came from Gaylord, MI which was/is nearly entirely out of any power. She expressed her heartfelt care and concern for all of us affected by this terrible ice storm. She explained where everything was, who to call/talk to if we needed anything and she also explained the amenities of the lodge. You can imagine my wife and I's shock when we opened our room to a massive 2 king size bedrooms, 3 showers and a jetted tub, a fully equipped kitchen, living room area and 3 flat screen smart tvs. The room was so much more than we were expecting as we just wanted to get a hot shower and power to charge our phones. We orginally were going to stay elsewhere but the other hotel sold our reservation out from under us. It was actually a blessing in disguise because the Tamarack Lodge was ghe best place we have ever stayed and it was possible the best bang for your buck we had ever gotten. We will be back everytime we ever stay in Traverse City just because of how amazing this place was. We thank you again for being there when we needed you guys most. Thank you from both of us. C E

Staff and room was great

Booked what was called a corner suite. The room is actually on the side of the hotel. I was also placed on the ground floor which I was looking at a construction site out the side window. I went back to the front desk and asked for a different room but was told nothing available. Also asked to be moved for the second night but was never given a response by front desk. This was our third stay and will be back. Just won’t book the “corner suite” again.

Poor checkin, only one person on staff, 15 minute wait for someone to come to the front desk. No coffee available in room, did not know when registering.

The staff are wonderful. The suites are absolutely lovely, cozy, homey, I never want to leave when I’m there! It’s a wonderful place to stay when I am in town.

I love staying at the tamarack lodge. It just feels like your own private piece of paradise on the east bay. Beautiful mission style architecture, private balcony, nicely appointed kitchen and super helpful staff. And warm cookies in the evening!

Absolutely loved this place. It is so spacious, cozy, quiet, and comfortable. I don’t know if I have ever slept so good in a hotel. Service was great. Coffee was delicious. View is fantastic. There is not one thing I could complain about. Will be back!

Beautiful lodge, right on the water! The room was great, with a rustic, cozy feel but with all the modern amenities. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Traverse City!

A nice property on a beautiful waterfront location.

It's on a busy intersection, but what's not obvious is that you are able to turn onto the road end of 4th, with the turn light, and get into the parking lot.

First time stay. Quiet, well maintained place with with an upscale lodge feel. Right on the water and close to restaurants and the State Park beach. Great place, will stay there again.

What a great space. Suite faced the bay, separate bedroom from living room/full dinette, and private balcony to enjoy the bay. Will stay again!

My wife and I stayed in Traverse City for a night during our honeymoon. We stayed in the deluxe suite here and man was it great. Full kitchen, massive bathroom, AMAZING views of the lake. Rates during the off season are pretty reasonable for the area. We love this place! We checked in and the front lobby ladies were very kind and made us feel welcomed.

Excellent location for a perfect relaxing getaway. The private balcony views of the beach and harbour, beach access and spacious rooms were a delight. We will surely stay here again in future visits.

The massage tub didn’t work and it drained while sitting in it. Bar wasn’t open. No breakfast, no coffee in the room.

Very welcoming staff from beginning to end. We stayed in February so obviously we weren't able to enjoy the beach. We came in from a busy day in Traverse city and was surprised with chili and freshly baked cookies upon returning (the recreational area). Thanks again, we enjoyed our weekend!

The room was beautiful BUT there was no cable when I woke up in the morning. Reading other reviews tells me this is a common issue there. THEN the deep jacuzzi tub came to life while I was nowhere close to it. Sounded like it came on to clear the lines or something. Very loud and I was on the phone with customers. Scared me. Cleaning ladies said that was normal. Its not normal. NO continental breakfast except on Saturday and coffee isnt made until after 6am. Had a cold, day old cup of coffee when I went down at 6am for coffee. No coffee in room. No ice machines. Have to request ice from front desk but thats no big deal. I will not stay again as there are several options locally at same cost with cable and breakfast.

If you like a large room, then this is a good option Location wise being on the beach is nice in the right season The lack of amenities like a pool, and a hot tub indoors that are useable would be good when paying a higher price No restaurant bar, snack, type food, even or anything of that sort, the coffee and tea was really bad coffee. In our room, the jetted tub didn’t work in master bedroom, but we didn’t bother complaining. We just let them know to fix it for the next guest. Electric vehicle charging… Matters to everybody but if I’m claiming I’m the top place to stay I have all of the amenities for everyone

Tamarack Lodge is an incredible place to stay in Traverse City. This was our second trip to the area and we opted for a hotel. Check in was incredible, Brig walked me through everything I needed to know and then I parked and we we met with our condo. We stayed in 403 and it was a wonderful condo! The two beds were spacious and the condo was neat and tidy. There are no smart tvs but you can get movies from the front desk with fresh cookies out by 10pm. We will definitely be returning here again and staying during the summer to get the full summer experience!
