No elevators. Too many steps. Parking lot by the check in was in terrible shape. Fall risks. Not senior friendly. The indoor pool sauna area was so hot and steamy, hard to breathe. Our 30, 40 year olds felt the same. Our room was nice and clean. Bathroom vanity tiny

The resort was great, the room and building needed a little maintenance. The building temperature was set to 90 degrees to keep the indoor pool area warm. The only way to cool down the room was the oldest and loudest window air conditioner on the planet. It was not able to keep up and our room was so hot! Asked the front desk if there was a way to turn down the building heat. No luck! Was cool outside, temped to drag the mattress out o to the balcony.

overall, our stay was very nice. The only irritation was that the hot tub jets were not working. Also, too many unsupervised children in the hot tub with goggles on swimming. Maybe should be more enforcement, so the adults can enjoy the spa.

We were staying at this property to ensure access to the gym. It said it opened at 6 am online for the hotel but it did not open until 9 am and they had signs everywhere the key did not work. We had to depart early to ensure entrance to our race. Other common areas were like this. Our entire window faced a large 6 by 6 ft utility box adjacent and sidewalk entrance with people using the box as a table right outside our room.

We found out when we checked in that the pool and hot tub were not working so they didn’t charge us for the resort fee which means I didn’t have to pay for something I wanted. I never got any compensation for that loss of resort facilities that I went there for

Booked it because of gym option. Very disappointed they wouldn’t let us in til after 9 am. No one is there to watch you! Too late to start our day then! We are morning people. Wouldn’t have stayed there had I known

Great location next door to the mountain. Summer bonfires with law games were great and the pools were clean. Perfect for our family.

The hotel and room were both very nice. The bed was very comfy and the shower was newer. The only bummer was the hot tub was out of commission during our stay. The pool and grounds were really nice!

We and another couple (close friends) rented units 610 and 612. Several cleanliness issues were found by us when we arrived including empty softsoap bottles, extreme mildew in the dishwasher, dishes were left in the dishwasher, the grill was not cleaned and the bathrooms were not clean. The management agreed to address the issues however when we returned to the unit that evening only some of the issues were addressed. What was especially troubling was the front door was left wide open when the cleaning crew left after returning to address the issues found and reported. Speaking to the staff the next morning, their response was they did not know why the door was left open and that empty soap bottles left on the counters were the responsibilities of the owners of the condo. What was contradictory was if the bottles were not to be refilled why then were empty bottles (garbage) left on the counters. Summary: Unit cleaning was never properly cleaned. The door to the unit was left unsecured by the lodge staff for 5 hours The management approach was to deflect accountability and were rude in their responses to us. We will not stay there again.

We stayed one night as we were passing through the area. Many of the staff are brought here for the summer from other countries and some have difficulty speaking English so there was a difficult time communicating with several of them. We ate at the restaurant and were very disappointed in the quality of the service and food. While the server was very friendly she was very slow and lacked attention to detail. We ordered walleye cakes as an appetizer and they were over cooked and dry. For the main entree I ordered the Parmesan crusted walleye and it too was overcooked to the point of nearly inedible. It took over 10 minutes to get our drink order. On the positive side our desserts were served quickly after we ordered them. The toilet in our room was not working properly and the room overall needs a deep cleaning. I actually wrote “clean me” with my finger in an area that had a heavy layer of dust accumulation. The price we paid for the room and the food in the restaurant was not worth what we got so needless to say we won’t be back and we definitely will not recommend it to anyone.

I had a great ski weekend with stunning views and a welcoming, professional front desk staff. However, the cleanliness of the room was disappointing. Since they only clean rooms after check-out, we arrived to find crumbs on the desk and floor, a yellow stain on the sheet, and a brown stain on the carpet. The entryway flooring even stained my white socks brown, prompting us to scrub it ourselves with Clorox and room towels. It seems like staffing may be an issue, but attention to detail in room cleaning is definitely needed. Despite this, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and the location made for a fantastic ski experience.

The most important thing you need to know is that the hotel restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. If you arrive late day on either of those days, your dining options are next to nil. The other Lutsen restaurant burned down and the remainder close at 8, so we were forced to spend an exorbitant amount for cheese and crackers at the general store. I wish I had known that in advance of booking; I would have chosen another day or had a large meal in Duluth someplace. The room was modest but nice and reasonably clean. More towels and cups and such for our three-night stay would have been nice. Not too sure about the jacuzzi—none of the jets were in helpful spots unless you’re a contortionist. I probably wouldn’t spend the extra next time. WiFi wasn’t terribly stable and would kick you out on the regular. TVs are a bit dated—you won’t be able to fling or airdrop to them, so you’re stuck with regular cable. Granted, if you’re in Lutsen, that’s probably not why you’re there, but evenings would have been more enjoyable with more options. All in, the stay was okay. I can’t say enough how limited your dining options are, though. No pizza joint, no GrubHub, very few places open. Oh yes, and if you’re going to Grand Marais, expect more of the same. The donut and pizza places are closed early in the week too. Would have been nice to know so we could plan around it.

Carpets were filthy in the stair/halls. No elevator. Nice restaurant and sleeping areas. Spendy for what you get-our lodge was so small we couldn’t hardly fit our suitcases on the floor. Great location if skiing

We stayed within the main lodge, in a hot tub suite. All of the rooms have balconies toward the outdoor pool, which was noisy and offered no privacy. The suite had a nice kitchen area but, otherwise, the space was very outdated and well-used. The bed mattress needs replacing - we both rolled toward the middle all night. Our room had a coffee maker but no coffee. We were told that complementary coffee would be available at the main lodge but it was out of order. The restaurant was closed both nights of our stay. We chose Caribou due to its proximity to the Superior Hiking Trail, which was great! BTW, the "shuttle" mentioned as a service is only for winter shuttles to the adjacent ski hills and not to the hiking trails.

The queen whirlpool suite was cozy. We didn't use the fireplace, but it was beautiful. Our biggest concern was the heat being too warm. We fanagled the A/C unit and used the patio door and window to cool it down. It was a cool day outside, but the temp was too warm.

Restaurant isn’t open Monday and Tuesday which meant we had to leave for every meal. I did enjoy the pool, and the fire pit and snores. It was a slow week so staff sometimes hard to locate.

We stayed one night as we were passing through the area. Many of the staff are brought here for the summer from other countries and some have difficulty speaking English so there was a difficult time communicating with several of them. We ate at the restaurant and were very disappointed in the quality of the service and food. While the server was very friendly she was very slow and lacked attention to detail. We ordered walleye cakes as an appetizer and they were over cooked and dry. For the main entree I ordered the Parmesan crusted walleye and it too was overcooked to the point of nearly inedible. It took over 10 minutes to get our drink order. On the positive side our desserts were served quickly after we ordered them. The toilet in our room was not working properly and the room overall needs a deep cleaning. I actually wrote “clean me” with my finger in an area that had a heavy layer of dust accumulation. The price we paid for the room and the food in the restaurant was not worth what we got so needless to say we won’t be back and we definitely will not recommend it to anyone.

Staff was extremely accommodating once we got there. There seems to have been miscommunication before arrival, for arranging things such as gondola passes and shuttle services. “Misplacing the bookings”. Once I expressed my frustration they did seem to get the matter resolved. The shuttle service driver Jacob was absolutely amazing. Was available the second we called, and made our experience amazing! Dealing with 14 bachelorette party ladies was definitely a tall task!Deserves a raise for sure!

We had a slight misunderstanding at the front desk upon check in. Once we got the issue figured out, rather than moving past it, the front desk employee began an unprofessional and incredibly rude rant at how it was my fault that it took so long. All the while she was trying to have two conversations on the phone with a customer and another person. I completely understand if someone is overwhelmed that it may get a little tense but it was completely uncalled for. The rest of the lodge staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant! A special thanks to our morning front desk employee. She was incredibly sweet. The rooms could’ve been cleaner however. There was hair and just general dust everywhere.

We liked the room. It was perfect for a weekend getaway. Our check-in experience was awful. The information provided by Expedia was different than what was provided at check-in and the staff struggled to explain it without a condescending tone. In fact, the same staff person ignored me on the second evening, but attempted to recover. Our vehicle was damanged in the parking lot and the staff didn't have any recommendations on how to handle it though she seemed genuine about her desire to assist. Overall the property has limited activities and is in okay condition. The area is stunning and we had an wonderful time exploring, hiking, and the activities offered by the neighboring resort were awesome with pleasant, professional, staff.

We enjoyed the location of the townhome and the ability to easily access the ski slopes. Note that, while its advertised as ski-in, ski-out, access from the townhomes is via an ungroomed trail at the end of each complex. Depending on which complex you're in it could be a small adventure to get to the Moose Access trail, especially for novice skiers or kids. We ended up walking about 200' to an easier, more accessible access. Still easier than loading up the car and driving to the slopes! Our townhome was well equipped, and two parking spots are provided right outside the door. Note that one of the bedrooms was lofted - this wasn't an issue for us but could be for others. While we didn't use it, there was a balcony with a grill provided. Shopping and restaurant options are limited nearby (not the resorts fault - it's a remote location) so make sure to meal plan accordingly - we ended up dining out for two nights and cooking for two. Overall, a strong recommend for the location alone.

This property was a beautiful setting for August. A lot of hiking and outdoor activities nearby, the amenities were so fun and engaging and the rooms were beautiful. I would definitely stay here again. It also accommodates huge groups like family reunions.

The most important thing you need to know is that the hotel restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. If you arrive late day on either of those days, your dining options are next to nil. The other Lutsen restaurant burned down and the remainder close at 8, so we were forced to spend an exorbitant amount for cheese and crackers at the general store. I wish I had known that in advance of booking; I would have chosen another day or had a large meal in Duluth someplace. The room was modest but nice and reasonably clean. More towels and cups and such for our three-night stay would have been nice. Not too sure about the jacuzzi—none of the jets were in helpful spots unless you’re a contortionist. I probably wouldn’t spend the extra next time. WiFi wasn’t terribly stable and would kick you out on the regular. TVs are a bit dated—you won’t be able to fling or airdrop to them, so you’re stuck with regular cable. Granted, if you’re in Lutsen, that’s probably not why you’re there, but evenings would have been more enjoyable with more options. All in, the stay was okay. I can’t say enough how limited your dining options are, though. No pizza joint, no GrubHub, very few places open. Oh yes, and if you’re going to Grand Marais, expect more of the same. The donut and pizza places are closed early in the week too. Would have been nice to know so we could plan around it.

Nice place to stay, but the outdoor pool was for residents only. The inside pool was small. Food was so so and very overpriced. I had the chicken dinner, and it was basically the $8 bar crap that is a NO THANK YOU, for $31, and I’m not really fussy.

I was woken up several times through the night by people in the hallways or neighboring rooms. When people walked in the hallways heavy-footed (as most are during boots-season) my bed literally shook with each foot step. My relaxing getaway turned into me being woken up at 6:39 AM by someone else’s kids in the hallway. I don’t blame the kids, they were just being kids and talking at normal volumes. There’s just no insulation and the doors must be made of cardboard. Also they go super cheap on the soap/shampoo stuff so bring your own.

We came to Lutsen to enjoy the beautiful fall colors and stayed at the Alpine Condo. The condo itself was cute, cozy, and a nice place to stay. However, there were a few things that could have been improved regarding cleanliness and maintenance. Some of the pillowcases had stains, but the front desk was helpful and replaced them when we called. We also noticed crumbs under the pull-out sofa mattress, a dirty duvet on the queen bed, shower curtains that smelled like a wet rag, and a burnt-out light bulb in the upstairs bathroom. Other than these issues, we enjoyed our stay and would have given the condo a higher rating. Hopefully, these concerns will be addressed to improve the experience for future guests. Thank you!

They were also on the walls. There was no staff there after 10pm and the lobby area was locked down so we couldn’t reach anyone. There were people in the room above us making so much noise that I finally found a number to call for security. This happened at midnight! The lobby wasn’t open again until 8:00. Had to check out at 11:00 hot tub wasn’t open until 10:00! For $279, it was worth it. Will not recommend.

We loved the actual wood burning fireplace, the view from the balcony, and the staff were amazing! Overall our room was nice but definitely could be a little more deep cleaned as the walls and ceiling in the bathroom were dirty and splattered with something. The bed was also not very comfortable and if staying for a few days bring your own pillows but we would overall stay again!
