Check-in was smooth and quick. They were able to check us in early which was really nice. Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Outside of our room 2 room service tray’s full of food were on the floor the entire time we were there. They were never picked up and they weren’t ours. The pool was nice but extremely busy. There were no chairs available but we made the best out of it. Before dinner we used the bikes they have at the hotel to ride around. It was super fun and relaxing. We decided to do the Ghost tour. We showed up in the Lobby at 9pm along with about 50 other guest. There were entirely too many people and it definitely took away from the ambiance of a ghost tour. I also thought the price tag of 25 bucks a person was absolutely ridiculous considering we walked around the property and listened to stories. In the morning we ate at the Three Owls restaurant inside the hotel. They had a breakfast buffet with waffles, biscuits and gravy, French toast, eggs, potatoes fruit and a host of pastry’s. The food was good but was a little pricey. For 3 people Buffett and 3 coffee’s and our bill was 90$ with tip. Overall it’s a great hotel and I would go back for weekend.

This hotel was absolutely amazing. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the outdoor pool was closed for almost two full days that we were able to utilize it. However, they did try to make it up to us. The outdoor pool and Indoor pool were absolutely amazing. The entire hotel itself was one of the coolest ones we’ve ever stayed in. We will be back.

I had heard so much about the Elms over the years that I had to come here for our anniversary. We enjoyed the historic aspect of the hotel and amenities. The rooms and general area around the hotel are clean and in good condition. The lap pool is currently closed due to a storm that created a leak. I was disappointed in this fact, but after seeing the actual lap pool, I pictured it differently, maybe a bit nicer. Although the room was okay, it was a bit small, and the bathroom was particularly small. The shower was tiny and the area around its base was very oxidized and could benefit from an update. The only issue I had with the hotel was the extra charges, such as a "destination fee," when the hotel in general is benefiting from people visiting it. There isn't any reason to charge anyone for a destination fee. Also, they charge for parking!

The Elms is a beautiful, historic hotel that has been modernized in ways that maintain its character. My room was clean & well appointed (note the “closet” was tiny). I had a breakfast & a dinner at Three Owls. Both were delicious & service was very good. I really enjoyed the pool - plenty of loungers (midweek) in both sun & shade. The pool bar has a good selection of drinks & bar food. I had a relaxing hydrafacial in the Spa. Only disappointment was that the Grotto was closed for repair. Although they knew about this days ahead of my trip, I received no notice. I would have postponed my trip as this was something I wanted to try. I asked for some consideration (Grotto charge is $75/two hours) and they applied a $50 credit to my bill. Overall, I would definitely stay here again —- but would call ahead to confirm amenities.

It was a hot summer day so we understand the pool being crowded but there was noisy dance music playing instead of relaxing music. It was difficult to hold a conversation due to the volume. The pool bartenders seemed exhausted or maybe just having a bad moment. Other than that, we truly enjoyed our stay! PS If you’re planning on having a morning drink from the main floor cafe, get there early. By the time I went down around 9am, many items and drink ingredients were sold out.

This spa and hotel was amazing. Beautiful building, amazing accommodations and several restaurant choices attached to the hotel itself. Spa was nice. They do numerous styles of massages but also have a "grotto" which is a room with a dry and steam saunas, large hot tub, steam shower and an ice cold shower in addition to ice cold mint-scented washcloths to use. Outside was amazing too. The outdoor pool doesn't appear to have chlorine in it. Not sure if it is the spring water but it feels good and doesn't make your skin and hair feel dry. Outside is also a large amount of lounge chairs, a 20 person hot tub and bar! The grounds around it are also large and beautiful with gazebos, a meditation circle or stones and an herb garden. Oh and the hotel accepts dogs too! Out front they have a lawn with poo bag holder and can, like parks often have. One downside is there are no other dog amenities like any off leash area or.any spa features. Still, it is nice to be able to bring our dog!

Other than the first room they put us in was NOT cleaned, beds unmade and towels everywhere, trash cans full. I had to go back down to lobby desk and tell them, and we were given another room......quite inconvenient. Our stay was very restful.

We were returning north to MN. And stumbled upon this Lovely historic hotel. Staff wonderful, and I have never seen a more spotless room. Restaurant on sight. Nice sitting areas in lobby. Outside grounds were beautiful.

The spa is the reason to go to the Elms. The rooms are very mediocre at best no refrigerators in there. I also felt like the bedrooms and the hallways were not that clean. The lobby and the spa and the restaurant great I will definitely come back for the spa for sure.

Pool and spa area was filthy. Access to amenities was inconvenient to say the least. Unable to secure dining on premises. But, if you are into alcoholism this place is for you. Parking was nonexistent. This was due to a wedding party. I am disabled. All handicapped parking was full of non handicapped vehicles. What a joke! Pricing: Expedias pricing was $100 more than what i coud have received booking directly myself. There was one positive experience: The the bed was comfortable. R, Chet Denton 8166655849.

The Elms is a beautiful hotel built in 1912 so it has an authentic early 20th century charm. It is architecturally beautiful from it's elegant main lobby to the curved upper seating in the Three Owls restaurant to the two story skylight in the main dining room; really a treat for the senses. The food was very good at the restaurant and while we were there they put on a Thanksgiving buffet that was very well attended and held in the beautiful main dining room. The rooms are small by todays standards but in top condition. The beds were particularly comfortable. The pools and hot tub were beautiful and clean. The weight room was well equipped with lots of machines and some free weights. The staff was professional and attentive. The Elms is a beautiful hotel built in 1912 so it has an authentic early 20th century charm. It is architecturally beautiful from it's elegant main lobby to the curved upper seating in the Three Owls restaurant to the two story skylight in the main dining room; really a treat for the senses. The food was very good at the restaurant and while we were there they put on a Thanksgiving buffet that was very well attended and held in the beautiful main dining room. The rooms are small by todays standards but in top condition. The beds were particularly comfortable. The pools and hot tub were beautiful and clean. The weight room was well equipped with lots of machines and some free weights. The staff was professional and attentive. Great classic historical building, nice restaurant (if a bit overpriced); great outdoor hot tub and gym. Air conditioners are awfully loud when they kick on; the thermostats have NO way to turn the system off, so I have to wear earplugs to sleep. Same in winter with the heating unit. It's unbelievable that there is such an antiquated thermostat control that can't be turned off (or at least if it could enable the fan to run continuously that would be ok too)

There was a wedding and the hallway by our room was very loud both Friday and Saturday nights. Also, we could hear people talking and laughing from the room next to us which was loud enough for us to make out what was being said. Otherwise we had a fun stay! Could use some updates in their bedrooms especially carpet.

The Elms is my go to place to enjoy some tranquil alone time. The rooms are clean, and the beds are amazingly comfortable. The staff are awesome, the food at The Three Owls is delicious, the halls are quiet, and the grounds are lovely to walk. I'm looking forward to my next visit to relax and unwind.

This is a beautiful, well-maintained hotel, and the staff are professional, helpful, and friendly. However, as a guest in a standard room, I felt like a second class citizen. The room had 2 queen beds which, theoretically, would mean 4 people could stay there, but the room had 1 packet of powdered cream and sugar for coffee and one desk chair, plus two small ottomans which served as tables, but certainly were not good for seating. We were also told that other rooms got real coffee mugs but our room was only supposed to have paper cups. I can’t imagine why Hyatt would want to make guests feel unworthy of the same treatment as everyone else.

My only complaint is that the walls are thin- we could hear the laughter, sounds, and conversations of the people next to us and I don’t think it’s because they were loud. They were up till 3am or so. I think they could try to separate big groups from being next door smaller ones that don’t know each other.

We did not have hot water for two days, like warm. The offered remedy was 10000 Hyatt points. Kinda weak! I also thought the hotel looked tired. Food at the restaurant for dinner was excellent, lunch not so much.

Nice historic hotel. Rooms nice. Spa nice. Little concerned about the safety of the hotel. Several people were witnessed coming in from outside gates who did not appear to be hotel guests. Key card pad on outside door did not work to get into indoor pool. They just walked in. We mentioned this to the front desk attendant who said, "yeah none of the key pads work but I dont get paid enough to care about that." All was find during our say, but for a nice hotel, I do feel like that is something you should care about.

The Elms is a destination. We checked in on Saturday and didn’t leave the property until Monday when we checked out. Service was impeccable and so friendly. From Shawna at the front desk to Jay who did our ghost tour and night desk, everyone we encountered was helpful, friendly and top notch. Loved Jay, his stories and “hunting” on our own.

The property is beautiful. However do not pay with a debit card they held over 1600 when my total bill was around 900 dollars from me leaving me with limited funds for the trip. I asked what these charges were I got different answers fron different staff. I am not blaming the staff just wish they would have been more clear on what was being taken out and why.

Love this hotel! Lots of history and even some ghosts. Went on a ghost tour with Jay. Very knowledgeable, funny and spooky. Every employee we met was extremely friendly and helpful. Food at three owls was delicious!

This was a pretty hotel with a lovely room. It was clean. The lobby smelled like a spa. My problem with our stay was our room was not ready at 3 when were supposed to check in. Thats fine, things happen but there was also no where to go to wait. The bar was not open, the coffee shop was not open. We waited in the lobby for a while but decided to head to the town and wait there. We left our number with the front desk and headed into town. There was 1 bar open, and we waited there until 4:15 when i called them to see if the room was ready. It was, we got a text right after I hung up. Maybe this sounds petty but this was a little more than i usually pay for a hotel and i would think that they would at least put out the effort to make you feel welcome. It was during the week and they werent that busy.

The facility was beautiful, the Beds and room was great. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Jay who lead the paranormal tour was very knowledgeable and funny. The Elms is a beautiful, historic hotel that has been modernized in ways that maintain its character. My room was clean & well appointed (note the “closet” was tiny). I had a breakfast & a dinner at Three Owls. Both were delicious & service was very good. I really enjoyed the pool - plenty of loungers (midweek) in both sun & shade. The pool bar has a good selection of drinks & bar food. I had a relaxing hydrafacial in the Spa. Only disappointment was that the Grotto was closed for repair. Although they knew about this days ahead of my trip, I received no notice. I would have postponed my trip as this was something I wanted to try. I asked for some consideration (Grotto charge is $75/two hours) and they applied a $50 credit to my bill. Overall, I would definitely stay here again —- but would call ahead to confirm amenities.

Had a wonderful couples’ getaway. The staff is super friendly and the ambiance was lovely. There are several restaurants close by. We had breakfast on site at Three Owls. It’s a nice buffet though a bit pricey. We look forward to going back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor pool.

Revisited for the first time since I was kid 30 years ago. What a beautiful renovation! The grounds of the Elms were so relaxing and serene; the highlight of our stay was a late night walk under the LED torch-lit path, surrounded by lush hostas, ferns and moss-carpeted trees. We laid in a hammock between two trees, gazing at the stars with the ambience of nature providing the soundtrack. SO romantic. In the morning, we returned to this area for group yoga under the gazebo, which was heavenly. Inside, we loved how bustling the entertainment was, from the live music coming out of the lounge to the super fun paranormal tour with our superbly entertaining guide, Jay! The facilities are slickly updated but honor the history of the building with class and nuance. The underground lap pool was so cool and unique! In our room, I especially appreciated how roomy and contemporary the bathroom and shower were. The immediate area around The Elms is a mix of charming small town Main Street vibes and old houses in various states of disrepair, but it doesn’t sour the charm and elegance of The Elms whatsoever. It’s a diamond in the rough. I highly recommend a visit if you haven’t been in a while!

We live less than hour from the hotel and wanted to experience the rich history of the hotel and the surrounding areas of Excelsior Springs, MO. The friendly staff and vintage charm of the hotel made the stay worth it. We really enjoyed the Lap Pool and exploring vintage items in and around the hotel like the brass cash register and the well.

For the price point of this beautiful historic hotel, The Elms Hotel leaves something to be desired for the little things that would make a huge difference. For instance, the very small bathroom/shower has a slick shower pan. It would be great if there was either a textured shower floor or at least a shower mat to help reduce the risk of slipping and falling. Also the toilet paper was very cheap and sub par. I would suggest that your guests need to feel pampered or at least in keeping with the cost of staying here. We were also underwhelmed with the food in the coffee shop. On an up note, our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable! We enjoyed a room service breakfast our first morning and it was very nice! We were celebrating our first anniversary and enjoyed a very nice and truly wonderful dinner at the Three Owwls Restaurant! Compliments to the chef and wait staff for a special meal and dining experience.

It was a hot summer day so we understand the pool being crowded but there was noisy dance music playing instead of relaxing music. It was difficult to hold a conversation due to the volume. The pool bartenders seemed exhausted or maybe just having a bad moment. Other than that, we truly enjoyed our stay! PS If you’re planning on having a morning drink from the main floor cafe, get there early. By the time I went down around 9am, many items and drink ingredients were sold out.

Wonderful spa! Hotel not so much. I was expecting a 4 star Hyatt. But it is more like 2 stars. Restaurants had kimited menus and poor food. I sent mine back. The bed was uncomfortable and had the worst quality of bedding!!

Love this hotel! Lots of history and even some ghosts. Went on a ghost tour with Jay. Very knowledgeable, funny and spooky. Every employee we met was extremely friendly and helpful. Food at three owls was delicious!

Had a wonderful couples’ getaway. The staff is super friendly and the ambiance was lovely. There are several restaurants close by. We had breakfast on site at Three Owls. It’s a nice buffet though a bit pricey. We look forward to going back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor pool.

We did not have hot water for two days, like warm. The offered remedy was 10000 Hyatt points. Kinda weak! I also thought the hotel looked tired. Food at the restaurant for dinner was excellent, lunch not so much.

Staff everywhere were very helpful! This is a great place for its history. The hotel had a restaurant, which was a bit expensive, but so nice not to have to leave to find a meal or drink.

The facility was beautiful, the Beds and room was great. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Jay who lead the paranormal tour was very knowledgeable and funny. Resturant the three owls the food was great but took forever for the food to arrive at the table. The bread was served after the meal. Kind staff but the management of the kitchen communications needs work.

Property was gorgeous, the rooms could have used a deep cleaning. Coffee/soda spillage on the exterior of room door and in the bathroom. Lotion and shower soap was empty. Don’t eat in the restaurant… service was absolutely awful, food was alright but over priced. Overall disappointing for our large party, even tho we had reservations, they were overwhelmed and understaffed. There doesn’t seem to be any type of security. Sunday evening outside pool were some unattended wild teenagers poll dancing on the umbrellas and playing with the handicapped aquatic chair. For the price you pay to stay at the property I feel like our experience should have been 10/10. Ive stayed numerous times over the years and I’ve never been so disappointed. Really makes me sad.

The hotel is old but has a nice historic charm to it, however the build quality and rooms were not what we expected based on the photos and prices. We heard our neighbors talking at all hours of the night, and were woken up at 7am every morning to our neighbors talking. The door frames are old and slightly warped meaning you need to use force to open an fully close your doors, which means you can hear whenever anyone comes/goes. There was also a wedding happening during my stay which meant you could hear music from our room. You can clearly hear toilets flushing from the room above you. The pool was very crowded - impossible to get a seat unless you just stand and wait for 20+ minutes hoping someone will leave. Food was mediocre at best and over priced for the quality. Service at the restaurants were very slow for dinner. Grotto was okay, but very crowded which made it uncomfortable. Some people could not find any place to sit between the sauna rooms.

Amazing Staff. Very polite and friendly. Our room was comfortable, staff checked to see if we needed anything to make our stay more comfortable and answered our questions. The grounds were maintained in excellent conditions. Can hardly wait until our next adventure there. Thank you.
