Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Starkville

I had booked this place online since it was close to the college and my son. The pictures looked nice and the reviews weren't too bad. However, upon opening the door, we were greeted with a much needed update , pest control and a thorough bleach scrubbing. I went back to the office and told the gentleman about the roaches. He gave me another room. Much better looking and cleaner but had to stomp on a few bugs there too. We didnt take the offer of the other room since my husband had already went to get some Raid and we were exhausted. Found out that the laundry machines were outside and looked like they had seen better days. Was looking forward to cooling off in the pool but after seeing the room & washer, i was doubtful. I didnt sleep at all. We left our bags in the truck just so we wouldnt take bugs home with us. We left the light on to keep the bugs in their hiding spots but that didnt work, they still came out and waved hi. I went to use the little coffee maker and that was filthy where you put the water in. I gave up after that. Since we had plans for the day, I didnt get back to the front desk until after 4pm. We checked out. There was no refund for leaving early. No offer of compensation for the roaches. We spent the same amt of $ for a 2 night reservation there, that we did for 2 nights in New Orleans at a great place,($330) I will never stay at another Days Inn. The roaches have it made there!!

The outlets in the room had a shortage. Shower didn't work. Ice maker didn't work.

The grounds were overgrown. The room was quiet but not very clean. There were dead and live bugs in the floor and shower as well as hair. I felt unsafe.

Too many trucks in the parking and music too load over 2am

The rooms were dirty, and a few roaches. The parking lot was nasty- mud and trash.

Old property. Refurbished cheaply. Our room was clean. Good air conditioning.

Roach in check in area. Room smelled strongly of weed due to gap between our room and the room next to us. Room had nice flooring but otherwise needs updates especially in bathroom. Room was clean enough. Maintenance was cleaning pool when we arrived.

The property was really run down. Dirty towels laying outside of rooms. Inside our room there was dirt just piled in the corners in the bathroom. There was a bag over the smoke detector. There was a tissue paper stuck in the peep hole on the door. When we arrived for our stay the room was really hot. The air was not on. Not very good when you arrive at 10 pm tired and ready to shower and go to bed. 4 people in our party. We were only given 2 towels while we were there. Went and ask for more and was given two really thin pool towels. Hope to not have to stay here again

Had issues with the A/C. One of the room’s refrigerator didn’t work. Smelled funny. Felt like I needed to clean before using which we did. Pool was dirty. Overall decent for the price. Good location

The beds were so old and uncomfortable. Furniture was all mangled like it went through a hurricane. All of ice machines were out of order. The pool had a tampon and wades of hair floating in it.

The room was nasty. Old. Smelly. Dirty. Hair in the shower. Pee stains around the toilet.

The room smelled clean and at first blush appeared to be clean. Floors were mopped and linens were fresh. Unfortunately, the residual effects of poor management were obvious. Towels were in poor condition. One of the bath towels had holes. The shower had stains that looked like blood, though when I tried to wash them off, they wouldn’t clean off. The walls had what looked like burn marks or smeared feces. I used the baby wipes I brought and tried to remove those but they wouldn’t come off, which made me think it was burn marks. When I got back to the room in the evening in the second night of my stay, there was a cockroach in the bathroom. My husband killed it and flushed it away. The tv didn’t work well, which is mostly ok for a non-tv watcher but if I had wanted to watched it, I wouldn’t have been able to. On the bright side, the bed was relatively comfortable. I’m sick that I paid $450 a night for this room but on a game weekend, I knew the issue would be supply and demand. Still disgusted by the price gauging and would not stay again.

We only stayed here because the other hotels were full. We booked it for 3 nights. When we walked into the room we were hit with a terrible and musty smell. The walls near the ceiling were covered in mold - and you can tell they tried painting over it to hide it but failed. To top it off, housekeeping was banging on our door before 9am which was well before checkout time. This place needs a health inspection and should not be open to guests in its current state. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

They had roaches

I have not stayed in a room this dirty since a teen at Panama City Beach. Woke up our last morning with a cricket in the bed.. Property not kept up. No towel or maid service. Appears they add caulk to any problem.

There is mold in the bathroom. The room had an awful smell when I walked in. Left the door open for 2 hours. Mold in the bathroom. The floor was dirty. The bed feels like you are on bricks. I’ve slept in tents that were cleaner and nicer than this place. It will be my last time sleeping here.

Property was run down, has bed bugs and generally not clean.

Couldnt get extra towels at night because house keeping wasnt "open". Black mold in shower, and overall not clean.

Do yourselves a favor and stay somewhere else. WiFi is absolutely terrible, broken chair in the room, looks like paint splattered across tv screen, no drain stopper in sink. And I think my college age son has more in his kitchen than the offerings here for breakfast. And what they charge for it? They ought to be arrested

Needs to be updated and the smell is horrendous inside the room it made me dizzy and and have a headache and the bed was super hard but the pillows were soft and TV kept turning off

The room served its purpose. The bathroom vent was extremely loud and so was the toilet and the bed was very hard. Other than that it was nice and clean. and had all the amenities that a room needs. Looks nothing like the pictures.

The door had a huge gap. The bed had a sink hole and was squeeky. The remote volumne dis not work. There was alot of screaming and people hanging in the parking lot. The air conditioner made an loud squeeling noise. The light on the wall did not work. This was a below average hotel that needs lots of work.

I didnt mind that it was a mid level hotel- but the mattress was a torture device and the key card didn’t work to let me back in after I went to get coffee in the morning.

The hotel needs a major upgrade. While it was clean, you could tell it was older. The room has no usb ports

This place looks like it hasn’t had an update since the 80s. Booked a double king room for 2 night. Nothing matches. A/C wasn’t on when we arrived (91 outside). We got it on and it barely managed to get the room too 76. The refrigerator didn’t work. 3 small square pillows for each kingsized bed. Desk chair broken. I suppose if you just need a bed to sleep in and will only be there for a few hours- it might work. But honestly the holiday inn right across the street would only cost you a few more dollars!

The beds were pretty comfortable, but the door to the bathroom looked like someone had broken In. It would not close all the way or lock.

This obviously is not a 5 star hotel but instead a budget hotel. The bed was clean. The floor was slightly dirty. There were clean towels. The room could use some updates in the bathroom and it could use some new power outlets to be able to charges phones and such. Again this is a budget hotel and was not bad like all the reviews painted it out to be.

The room was basic, the walls very thin! Our neighbors argued for several hours. The bed was okay but the pillows were horrible, very small and hard!

I would have felt safer sleeping in my car on campus! Thinking it was a Wyndam for $350 a night it would be safe and clean.....Negative. There was loud music on and off all night...no phone to call the office to let them know and I sure wasn't going out in a dim lit parking lot by myself. Cigarette butts EVERYWHERE. When I complained at checkout I received attitude from the man at the front desk... then saw later he had charged my card for another $40! After I complained he told me to go stay at a Hilton if I didn't like it.

Doubled charged us for the room and still haven’t gotten money back after 5 days Was not cleaned through out stay.

We arrived after a football game to check in at about 9:00. We were told that Expedia cancelled our reservation and that they sold our room.

The room had plenty of room. Staff was very friendly.

Shower head didn’t work and the night clerk swiped my security deposit twice taking 80 dollars

I waited 30 minutes to check-in because there was nobody at the front desk! I called multiple times and I actually had to walk to an open room and find a housekeeper and tell them to alert someone that I had been waiting at the desk to check in! I ubered so I couldn't just go back to my car. There was also roaches all throughout the hotel room that I noticed at night. It truly freaked me out when I woke up from a nap with roaches running around the floors and tables. My luggage bag initially was opened on the floor and I'm scared that it has infested my bag. I think I am completely entitled to a refund and didn't want to make a scene. However, I am disgusted.

They fixed my problem but the guy that checked us in at first was new and he gave my room to another person with my same name

Staff were friendly and room was decent. Parking lot could be a little bigger but overall I had a great experience

The Customer service is the best thing because all the staffers I dealt with was helpful and courteous but the hotel is just dated…

You have to be looking for the hotel or you will miss your turn.

It may not look like a 5-star property, but it's a good value. Quiet and somewhat secluded. And a just a few minutes drive from everything you need in Starkville.

Check-in was easy and quick. The property is older and so is worn down, but the room and bedding was clean. The area is convenient to everything.

It's clean. It's in the middle of town. Relatively close to the university. It is not walking distance to the stadium. Photos online do not represent the quality or condition of the rooms or hotel. It is old and looks it. Breakfast advertised is an overstatement of coffee and a few muffins. I had had booked a double king. They said that Hotels.com had only confirmed a single. They were able to move me into a double queen but with no credit on the price.

Nice area, close to food and shopping. Water pressure was very low and water didn’t get hot. Other than that great stay.

When we came for “breakfast” (white bread, stale cereal, packaged muffins, oatmeal, coffee, juice, no butter or jam), we were not greeted. The “breakfast” was not what was described online or in the info in our rooms. The sheets had cigarette burns/holes in them. Our key stopped working and the toilet wouldn’t flush…both were fixed very quickly.

The Breakfast is not worth getting up for there’s nothing really there I toaster with no toast no butter no jam the coffee is watery it’s like hot water when you say that to them they’re not interested. Is very clean and nice rooms but forget about the breakfast is non-existent

The "breakfast selections" were sub-par (Walmart bread, stale cereal, no milk, cheap "honey buns", mini frozen breakfast sandwiches, dirty waffle iron). Room servicing is every 3 days, rather than 2. Small, hard pillows. In room coffee maker was broken. It was not replaced during my stay. Their excuse for anything was, "well, everything is older". I could overlook it being an older property if the service were a bit better and the breakfast presentation were better. Property was quiet. Bed was fine.

The room was very spacious, and the bed was comfortable. However, out of six lamps in the room, only two worked, and the television had sound but no picture. I reported it to the front desk clerk, who seemed unconcerned. When I got coffee in the morning, “breakfast” was very lacking. There were three types of cereal, prepackaged muffins and biscuits, and bananas that were nearly rotten.

Terrible service. I had to go to the office and get keys replaced three out of the five nights I stayed there. The continental breakfast was a joke.

I would’ve liked breakfast.

Website claims they have this whole list of breakfast foods, they do not. The refrigerator was nasty with spilled juice and milk. Claim they have waffles, they do not. They have a waffle maker, but with no mix. They have coffee, but no sugar. They have yogurt, but only for 1 person. If you like cereal for breakfast and don’t mind community milk then this is the place. We will never stay here EVER AGAIN!
