Courtyard by Marriott Carolina Beach Oceanfront

Staff was excellent! Only things I didn’t like were: the bed and couch weren’t comfortable and there wasn’t an exercise bike in the fitness room… I’m a disabled vet and can’t use the treadmill or elliptical

This hotel had everything you could need! We stayed in a one bedroom suite and had a great balcony to see the ocean and watch the amazing Thursday night fireworks. Indoor and outdoor pool, easy chair/umbrella rental on the beach. Walkable to all the shops and restaurants. It was a great trip!

The room and view are nice. Unfortunately, they tiled in the hot tub they had previously & that was a big disappointment. :( Construction is going on to rebuild the balcony and it gets pretty loud. It doesn’t bother me but i feel people should know this in advance in case it affects them differently.

Overall, the hotel is nice and staff are very friendly. The outdoor pool is a bit small.

Was initially pleased. Staff was friendly, check in easy, view was really nice, ease of access to the beach was excellent. But, one of the two elevators was out of order, which made wait times long. The second day we hade a fairly decent breakfast run the bistro. Good coffee, pretty good food. However, housekeeping failed clean the room, as they made their rounds. Heard them in all rooms around us. Privacy notice was not on the door. I had to request a cleaning, change of linens, towels, and trash removal. All was done but the trash. Why would you not? At the end of the day, we wanted to stay inside with a bit of Netflix. Took over five mins to be able to sign on, and then the stream would freeze or restart. After the sixth attempt, we gave up and watched whatever limited tv was on. The next morning, after packing and walking to the elevators to leave and check out, we were told that BOTH elevators were out of order and that we would have to carry our luggage down five flights of stairs. A staff member did call a couple of boys to carry my partner’s luggage. I handled my own. Once downstairs, the girl at the checkout counter did apologize for the elevators being out but was unsympathetic to the concerns I listed above. I will never stay at this location again, nor do I plan on staying at another Marriott, unless that is my only option. Never, I’m 20 years have I had these problems at other hotels and hotel chains where I have stayed. Be wary and look at other options.

The balcony view was beautiful. I didn’t like the noise from them working on the building or the fact that the elevator kept breaking and I had to use the stairs just to get to my room.

Great location ocean front, clean and very well maintained property, indoor pool, and very friendly staff. Negatives are scarce parking, no microwave in the room, and no breakfast items in the morning, not even coffee, which I thought was a bit cheap. Properties around it offer versions of a continental breakfast. There is a pricey bar in the lobby with $5 a cup coffee.

Great hotel! Convenient when it comes to parking and access to beach! It has indoor and outdoor pool which is a plus.

One of the elevators broke while we were there more than once.

Rooms are nice, all are oceanfront. The location is perfect. The staff is friendly. The food available & hours leave some to be desired given they are closed from 11am-5pm

All staff throughout the property were personable and really nice. They also knew all the good restaurants and bars nearby. Breakfast was convenient and good. I would have given them a 5 for cleaning but there was hair in my sink. (different color and texture than mine) Other than that the room was spotless. Will be back!

The building from the outside looks nice. great location and friendly service. The beach was clean and the area was great for dining. The cleanliness was a train wreck. We requested early check-in at 3pm. we arrived at 3:30pm and our room was not ready. we had to wait for two more hours to check-in. (check-in is 4pm, we didn't get to our room until 5:30pm). Once we were in the room, we immediately noticed how dirty it was. The walls had food on them, the floor was disgusting and covered in dirt. there was food left in the refrigerator, food left in the cupboard hair in the shower and a dirty used wash cloth in the bathroom. When we went to sleep we found hair in the bed! We contacted Courtyard Hotels and they said to speak with the management there. They came and cleaned the room after the 2nd day, but I had to call them to do it. the only thing they did was make the bed and put fresh towels in the room. I wiped the floor where I had spilled a splash of water and the towel came back black. We had to make a path of towels from the bed to the bathroom because we were afraid to step on the floor with bare feet. Overall a bad experience and I will never stay here again.

Love the location and staff. Bathroom shower was the only problem. Shower walls very moldy.

I am a frequent Marriott customer and I have to say this location felt like a cruise ship ready to be dry docked!! Filthy rooms, elevator, the balcony were filthy , with cracked and broken concrete pieces ( don’t go out barefoot) , the bistro bar was out of most food including the specialty coffee. The help agreed they are embarrassed to work here. Sad If you’re in the Carolina beach area look elsewhere .

Hotel needs MAJOR renovations. Room was dirty, bedding/sheets had stains, shower was rusted, and windows were so dirty we couldn’t see our “ocean view”. Pool was smaller than pictured and needed to be cleaned. Pool bar was “closed for the week” and restaurant wasn’t really a restaurant. Had limited dining options, and food was 3/10. Staff was friendly, and helpful which was the only plus of our stay. Would not return.

I had a room in the 9th floor for five days.The carpet was wet as soon as I walked in. There's a constant smell of natural fertilizer that became stronger when stepping out to the balcony. One day there was no access to the wifi. When I brought that up to a girl with blonde wig, she just suggested to check my phone before moving her attention to someone else quickly. There's a ferris wheel with all its lights up and loud music right next to the hotel that came on every afternoon from 6-11 pm. Considering the amount paid for each night this Marriott was subpar. The only positive was the area around was gorgeous and its right on the beach. Cleaning service came out just one time to replace the towels and change the sheets in one of the two beds and didn't vacuum the floor. There's no kitchenette or microwave in our room. Staff was kind enough to bring up a microwave when I asked for one. Overall I will not consider this Marriott hotel for future stay.

Property was clean and quiet

Everything about my stay was excellent! The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. Special thanks to Michelle at the front desk—she was amazing, so welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. I’d definitely return!

Desk staff was very nice. Room was comfortable and clean. However, after paying so much for just one night and oceanfront it would be nice to see the ocean through the sliding glass door. So much condensation buildup that you can't see out of the door. Doors need to be replaced

Lots of noise because they are updating balconies-but we were not told ahead of time. Also, the hot/cold water was very delayed in the shower so if you turned it up it would get super hot a minute after. The windows were super foggy-double pane gas failure so we couldn't actually see the ocean view unless the balcony door was open.We ran out of body wash in the dispenser and the couch was very old/worn and not very comforable. The staff, views, and area were great.

View from the 9th floor was great and kids would love it, but I didn’t like the tripping hazard in front of the balcony or the blue tinted TV which couldn’t be fixed with a remote but probably needed maintenance to fix or replace

The staff here was great and especially kind to my daughter. The room was spacious with a great view. I would gladly stay here again.

We got an ocean view. The overall upkeep and maintenance of the hotel were less than desirable. Examples include the balcony door, being very old and almost impossible to open and close with a lack of a screen to keep the door open. The dated glass bifold doors for the closet were also very difficult to open. For the price we are paying I would expect better. We stayed at the Hampton right across the street among back and it was clear that their maintenance was much better.

The HVAC didn’t cool the room, and the unit was very noisy

Tv was acting up and they stated most of the tvs are like that.

I recently stayed at this Courtyard Marriott, and unfortunately, the experience was far from restful. The beds were lumpy, the sheets were low quality and refused to stay in place, and the pillows offered no comfort. The hotel is in desperate need of a renovation, ideally led by someone who understands the demands of hospitality and durable furnishings. While the location is undeniably great, a hotel stay should provide a comfortable place to sleep—something this property fails to deliver. The air conditioner was excessively loud, making sleep even more difficult. The breakfast, despite its hefty price tag, was no better than a basic continental spread. Given the high costs for parking (snuck the fee in after check-in), breakfast, and the stay itself, the quality should be significantly better. The surrounding area offers plenty within walking distance and access to the boardwalk, but if you're looking for a restful place to recharge during your vacation, this hotel is not it. Expect sore backs and sleepless nights unless substantial improvements are made.

Oceanfront rooms were nice. Marriott's complex ways of connecting to WiFi were annoying. Also, balconies are deteriorating, though they are in the process of renovating them.

The staff was freindly. The room was clean and comfortable. The room was not available at check in time.

Great Service. Our room was damaged by weather that was beyond the hotel’s control. The hotel didn’t just give us what was available. They did everything they could to make it right. Very rare these days. The hotel is older and showing some age but the views and walking distance to food, bars, live music and shopping was on point.

Very courteous front desk. She was very nice throughout the entire stay.

The property was clean & all just had an issue with sink in bathroom wasn't drainging & staff wasn't in any rush to fix issue.

When we arrived our room was not ready. We waited over an hour from the time we were told the room would be ready. I asked for complimentary coffee they said there was none but I could buy one at Starbucks. Also no told no complimentary breakfast although one could see the breakfast room. When the room was ready we went up and couldn’t get our door to open a maintenance man said keep trying it is tricky. We continued to try after 7 try’s the door opened. We came into our suite that looked like a run down hotel for $60.00 furniture old and depressing, lamp over the table peeling and leaving blue peels on table. The beds two Queens were so tight the door hit the bed. Lights didn’t work and the glass door was filthy with fingerprints. To make matters worst on the way up to the room the elevator was making noise and jolts. This was on Tuesday when we arrived. The elevator went out and many guests had to walk to rooms during entire stay with luggage upon arriving and leaving. It was 20 minute or longer wait because staff was also using this elevator. The pool had no umbrellas to keep the hot sun off if you were around the pool. The breakfast the next morning at hotel was horrible the coffee machine was broken and the food was terrible. We never ate at hotel again. We were very upset and we have stayed at numerous Marriott properties and this property cannot even be considered as a Marriott property. This was a stay beyond description for us we will never recommend.

Everything was pretty great. The only thing was we had to wait over an hour to check in after the normal check in time. Seems trivial but for a quick weekend stay every minute counts. It would have been nice if they compensated with early check out.

Hotel is right on the boardwalk so you can walk to restaurants, rides and bars! Beach, too. Staff is wonderful. Room could use a little updating, but, who's spending any time there with everything there is to do! We are looking forward to going again.

It was next to the amusement park. The ferris wheel was right next to hotel. It was loud until about 10 pm. Also our slider was permanently fogged and we could not see out of it. On the other hand the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was nice and seemed well maintained. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

What we like the most is the location of the hotel. In front of the boardwalk, the beach and the electric rides.

Convenient, most everything within walking distance

Very lovely views and love how everything was in walking distance. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom and room was very clean. Loved being able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the beautiful views

The property is in a beautiful oceanside setting, affords wonderful ocean views and is conveniently located to shops, restaurants, the Boardwalk and the amusement park. That said, our room faced that amusement park which played loud music until midnight every night. Preventing us from being able to enjoy the ocean sounds in the evening and at night. The room itself (a one bedroom suite) could sleep up to 6, but only had chairs for 4, and the bathroom had only hanging space for 3 bath towels. The kitchen came with no dishes, cups or bowls, no utensils, no dish rag, or dish towel. The refrigerator badly needed defrosting; the under-freezer tray held a solid sheet of thick ice, so thick that the tray was frozen in place, and the ice would begin to drip on the refrigerator contents beneath it whenever the refrigerator door was open for a few moments. We reported this to front desk but the issue was never addressed. Our balcony was loaded with sand which the kids tracked into the room repeatedly. We had to borrow a broom and dust pan from the front desk, and were able to sweep up a cup and a half of sand, making the situation better. The indoor pool was a blessing for when it rained. The staff were friendly and professional.

Right on boardwalk. Next to bars, shops, and the view of ocean is amazing.

Limited parking spaces, unable to check in early which is available with most hotels. Outdoor Swimming pool was very small for an entire Hotel to use. Constant noise in the evening from the fair next door. One of the machines (Rides) needs to be service and produced an extremely loud noise during operation. Hopefully the hotel complained to the fair on behalf of the people staying at the hotel. Room layout was very odd. Sink was outside the bathroom and located inside the bedroom. Waking up at night ensured you woke up everyone else in the room. The shower did not look like it was cleaned and had mold on the tile. The shower curtain did not reach the ground which meant every person using it would leave water in the floor. (Water escaped the shower due to the short curtain). The Carpet in the room was damp. The bed sheets were old and kept coming off the mattress. Breakfast was $20 dollars per person which did not match the Expedia website information of $11/person. The breakfast was missing several key items such as bread, toaster, toasted bread, no pancakes, No cereal, no cheese, no yogurt, no grits (Southern state).

Stayed there several times Hate their breakfast buffet is gone. That was always a plus. New breakfast stinks.

Food options at the hotel are not good. The buffet breakfast was average at best and the cost for it was ridiculous.

There's no hair dryer in the suite and the indoor pool was ICE cold! Also, not even complimentary coffee on the lobby let alone any kind of affordable breakfast. Ridiculous for the cost of the this place. Also, the gym in the pictures is NOT the gym they have there... book at the Hilton instead.

We really loved the location and cleanliness of this hotel. Downsides: bistro isn’t open all day but that okay bc we are vegetarian and the options were VERY slim there that we could eat. The staff member at the bar was a little rude. She ddidnt really try to help us figure out things we could eat and as soon as we said vegetarian it was like she had completely checked out with trying to help. Pros: front desk was really nice and always willing to answer questions and help. Always had a smile on their face. Offered options in the area for us to eat that was also vegetarian friendly. And Kate’s Pancake house was right across the street and they had good vegetarian options. Walking distance to A LOT of stuff to do. And every room is oceanfront so waking up to the ocean sounds and being able to drink coffee on the balcony was soooo nice.

Direct access to the beach and having the bistro right in the lobby was very convenient
