I generally don’t book Marriott Courtyard because they don’t offer any free amenities such as coffee or breakfast. You have to pay for everything. I knew that going in so my lower rating is not due to that. However, I think that mold on bathroom ceiling, wet carpet from who knows what, and soiled sofa bed are legitimate concerns. Even the front desk receptionist agreed that the soiled sofa bed was gross and she had no idea what the liquid on the carpet was that soaked my socks. I paid $350 with tax for a one night Friday night stay. I wouldn’t pay half that much for this room where they stuffed a sofa bed in with a king bed in small room. There was literally no floor space for my family to move around. As I was leaving I had a charge come through for $13.00 for a coffee I purchased in the morning. I had to return to the hotel to dispute it because the coffee was $6.00. The desk attendant said it must have been a computer error but I have my doubts. It seems more likely that someone added a huge tip to my coffee order despite the fact that I left a cash tip. Of course, dishonesty can happen at any establishment, but this was just one more thing that was unpleasant about my stay
