Extended Stay America Suites - Dayton - South

So I don't want to be too harsh, but this is not worth $100 USD for a stay. I was desperate as I had pulled off the hiway in torrential rain, and bc of a world final color guard competition, all rooms around town were booked solid. It was my first clue. Although the room was probably as clean as it could be, it was a quick in and out for me. Hallways were dirty, strong odors from guests cooking, and a walk up made it difficult to 'enjoy' Photos show that the room really needs some TLC and just some logical thinking! The fridge is not even accessible as it opens the wrong way! Won't make an effort to stay here again, but managed to catch a bit of sleep. PS 'Breakfast' is instant oatmeal (no milk) packaged muffins and coffee with coffee mate only ...:(

Dirty. Doors on the outside didn’t lock.

Brett clean and staff was friendly. Heavy snow made the parking lot a mess.

Room door baseboard was broke and door did not close. You could gain access without a key and when told this to a manager nothing was done. There was cat litter from a previous stay still in the room and again nothing done.

Definitely an older hotel, outside 'security' doors did not close tight to lock, and if pulled shut - room key did not work well in opening them. Entered room, while I want to believe the bedding had 'clean' stains - it was dirty/stained none the less. In bathroom, there was a dirty towel left hanging on the back of the door. I did address issues with the gal at the front desk - and she did come & change the bedding right away. Employee was very friendly & accomodating, apologizing for the housekeeping staff. As I walked around the room barefoot, I also quickly realized the floor was also dirty. I did not say anything about that, just put socks or shoes on. Breakfast only consisted of a few pre-packaged items, not a 'real' breakfast. 😉 A more difficult issue to address - walls are not very well insulated. The room above us - decided to rearrange their whole room the first night. Very noisy as it felt like they stomped around the room and dragged furniture around. Thankfully - that noise did end around 11. Then - room across the hall from us, had a dog with them. That dog was obnoxious - barking anytime a door it heard something. Both nights, it woke us in the middle of the night. We chose this hotel due to the low cost, as our regular choice locations were expensive - guessing due to graduations or area events. Location was close to where we needed to be, price was more reasonable than the competitors. However - I definitlely would not rush to stay there again.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a note on the counter they be right back. I waited 15 mins and freely walked thru the entire hotel and all the floors looking for any staff to help me. Outside doors were propped open...not very secure. I had to use the after hrs phone to get someone to check me in. No elevators and a lot of stairs for anyone with restricted mobility. No ice machine or premade ice tray in fridges. Pop in vending machine was $3.85 for a single can. Bkfst was granola bars, oatmeal packs and a cupcake they said was a chocolate muffin. Phone didnt work in room, drawer missing from dresser and stains on carpet and couch. Ending up sleeping in the leather recliner because bed and couch felt dirty and used my own blanket. You'd be better off sleeping in your car.

The property had litter all around it in the grassy areas. The room had not been vacuumed. I had a dog in there and I always check under the bed to be sure there isn't anything the dog can get into. But in this room #110, there were crumbs and a water bottle and plastic glass sitting under there. The room floor was sticky. One pillow was dirty. The window was open when I entered the room for the first time and a screen was broken. No way to lock the window. Very poor.

A disadvantage is that there is no elevator that I'm aware of. I was on the main floor and found that I could quickly get to the from parking lot and the rear parking lot using the stairs and front and back doors. The advantages are reasonable price, nice neighborhood, near the action, nice room with kitchenette, easy and effective temperature control, and HBO/HBO2 if you want it, also WIFI, friendly staff, quiet at late night (actually quiet most of the time). Pots and pans, dishes, etc. are available. Easy to get to. GPS works pretty well. Problem: no traffic light on main highway, but there is a center lane, and the traffic seems to thin periodically, so that it is fairly easy to get on the main highway. If they keep their prices competitive, I plan to stay there the next time I come up..

Don’t stay here. Just don’t. The doors that are supposed to be secure and have a keycard entry are never locked and sketchy people in and out the entire weekend I was there. The place stinks so bad like cigarettes and weed and filth. Paint chipping off the walls in huge chunks, piss stained sheets, broken furniture. Just awful

Disgustingly dirty, old and horrible smelling room. Trash not emptied, sticky floor, outside doors propped open by rocks, back parking lot had people, at all hours, hanging around their cars...did not feel safe.

Not clean. The gentleman at the counter was very apologetic. We did not stay.

Food smells in the room on arrival. Very poor/moldy sheet rock repair above the toiler and shower (below the room above’s toilet — yuck!) and a large, dried out and still textured vomit stain on the carpet by the bed. We left at 4am bc we’re so grossed out by the state of the room.

Hair in shower. Dirty washcloth in shower. Toilet filthy. Smelled like an ash tray. Bed rolled away every time you got in it. Manager was nice, but was very rude to someone on the phone and told me how stupid they were.... not very impressed.

The hallway was stinky. The tub was inexcusably disgusting. Hard surfaces such as mirror, desktop, dresser top were NOT CLEAN. Visible crumbs & greasy. I used entire pack of Lysol wipes on surfaces. Poor attempts to repair wall holes, sub par to amateur. One side of towel holder was repositioned higher…unpatched screw hole from the repair. Due to visible filth, I was skeptical of the entire room. The sole redeemable part was good location & under $100. Disgusting carpet in the room…sorely needed upgrades. Exiting front door smelled of smoke. Hotel personnel about 20’ feet away, smoking. Stayed 1 night & left early prior to my expected checkout. Unsure why there is a descent rating on Expedia. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Was supposed to stay there with family to meet up for local event. Room and hotel were filthy. Left and had to pay to stay somewhere else for both nighrs. It was awful!! There was trash still under bed from previous occupants and sheets were dirty.

Front desk said we had to see if we liked the room before we got the keys. They walked us to a windowless room in the basement. The beds were jammed into the room and smeared with dirt. There were piles of garbage on the floor. It looked straight out of a crime documentary, and a fire code violation to boot.This is not a place for a family stay. We spent an hour and a half driving around to find an available room in a different hotel. There is no way I would stay in this hotel.

The property inside and out was dirty; I had to clean food residue off chairs, kitchen cabinets, and stove. The microwave ceiling and walls were full of food splatter. The linens were stained including towels and bath mat. There weren’t any mattress covers just sheets. We stayed four nights and didn’t see anyone cleaning on our floor till we were checking out. The back entrance was propped open as late as 10:00PM when we returned from visiting in the area. Some guests had put a stone in the doorway to prevent it closing. Inside the kitchen cabinets there were black stains or rings where food residue had not been cleaned and it looked like it may be moldy. In the bathroom the wall covering was peeling away where the wall met the ceiling and the ceiling and the ceiling appeared to be in the process of being patched.

It started off with the rooms being wrong not what we reserved. We reserved queen bed with pullout sofa we got queen bed with a chair, so no place for my son to sleep. Science experiment in the fridge, ants in the A/C and no keys all weekend, key-maker was broke. The kitchen was nice but just not very clean.

The location is excellent and price was good. I’ve stayed here before and my room before (Rm 216) was very good. At check-in there was a smell of Marijuana in the lobby. My room this time (Rm 320) was “worn” with visible damage to the kitchen cabinets and counter. There were nail polish stains in the bathroom tub and sink. The window curtains were of mismatched length, but still functional. The television screen was visibly dim making it hard to see detail in the daylight or with the lights on. The room was passable, but there were areas where food or dirt was missed by the cleaning staff. The room has a feel of being neglected.

I booked a room with a queen and pull out sofa and was given a room with 2 full beds that were crammed into this awkwardly shaped room. There was no room to walk around. Also there was no coffee pot in the room -very disappointed overall. Would not recommend

Rooms were comfortable, but could use a little update.

Air conditioner did not work well, set to 60 it pnly cooled to mid 70's. Sink stop did not work, sonl drain leaked into cupboard underneath. Front desk not to willing to help. Not much food selection other than plain oatmeal. So not what was expected.

Lights were broken, staff was not at front desk when we needed them, breakfast was a joke and shouldnt even advertised there is one, wifi was a joke and you upcharge for speed that most hotel offer free.

The whole place is very old and run-down, with a funny smell that lingered throughout the whole place. There is a kitchenette in each room, but no pots/pans, plates, bowls or silverware, or really anything you can use to cook or eat a meal— what’s the point of the kitchenette?! Not even a coffee maker in the room. No remote control for the TV, and the satellite signal kept going out every 20-30 seconds, so watching TV was pointless. No housekeeping at all in my three days there. The one positive was that the staff was overall very pleasant to deal with. I booked this place because it was cheap and had mostly good reviews— don’t know how! Spend a few dollars more and stay somewhere else.

No TV for two days and nights. Reserved queen bed, got double bed. Room dirty.

The room had not been cleaned. The pull out sofa was missing a mattress. We needed 2 beds. There were no towels or wash cloths in the room. We did not stay due to the lack of a mattress. I will say, the employee working the front desk was amazing. She was beyond apologetic and ashamed of the condition of the room. The manager did provide us a refund. The staff was the redeeming quality of the location.

Showed up the property after a nine hour drive across state lines and was turned away due to overbooking. The front desk girl said she’s been turning people away all day, but somehow we were not notified at all.

Booked a room with two double beds. Instead, I was given a King with pullout sofa. Pullout sofa had no mattress. Room was dirty and dated. Holes in carpet and stains in carpet. Countertops were sticky. Jell-O shots left in freezer. Only positive was the employee who tried his best to help us. He found a mattress and helped as much as he could. His name is Carl and went above and beyond. Thank you Carl.

The lady at the front desk was rude. Then the next day, we had made arrangements with a different front desk clerk, then we were treated terribly by yet another front desk clerk and a manager, whom was on the phone. There was obviously no communication between the 3 and we were treated like we were liars and were threatened with cops after being talked down to. Wev stayed at this hotel several times over several months, but have not been back since this happened.

I had reserved Extended Stay specifically for the kitchen, but it no utensils made it heat to use (and eat!). Also, no tissue dispenser in the bathroom; I used toilet paper to blow my runny nose. It’s a small thing, but it really showed the lack of service given for the price paid. The hotel public areas were also not as clean as I’ve seen at other hotels, and I found a metal bracket and screw just lying in the hallway outside my room; I left it at the front desk concerned someone would step on it and hurt themselves. Finally, the free breakfast was dry oatmeal, hot water, and granola bars. I’ve paid less to other hotels and gotten a hot breakfast. Overall, this was way below an “average” hotel experience for me, and I have traveled a lot! I’ve also stayed at other Extended Stay hotels and had a very good experience, so this time was doubly disappointing. I won’t stay at this particular hotel again.

Disappointed that I wasn't given the room I had actually booked on the Hotels.com site which showed a couch in the room. The guy at the front desk was very polite about trying to fix the problem but the manager wouldn't allow him to change any rooms without her permission. When she finally got back to him about an hour later she told me Hotels.com had overbooked the hotel and there was nothing she could do. She came across as rude and indifferent and offered no apologies In addition the room itself was in disrepair.

Checking into this property was a circus. We arrived and I went into check in and no one was at the front desk. There were creepy men hanging around and I waited 10 minutes and then went back to my vehicle to talk with my friend. Went back in and still no one. Some man told me to call on the phone that was on the desk. I did. It rang. That man went running up the steps and soon someone picked up the phone and I explained I was waiting for 15 minutes. Hung up. Soon same man comes down and says I must call on my cell phone, He is hassling me. Finally, someone else comes down to desk after 20 minutes, late at night, and checks us in. This was completely UNACCEPTABLE

The room was good, as normal, had everything we expected and paid for. I did, and still do, have a problem with the woman that checked me in last night. She started getting aggravated, and I merely telling her hownthe other front desk clerks had been checking me in and was explaining our situation and that all my stuff was in the room and she made the comment, "you people, you people" and shook her head as she said it. I really want to know what exact What she meant, you people that are homeless, u people having a rough time, you people in a because wer a bi-racial couole??? Im very unhappy and feel very offended by this comment. Ive had some people tell me to pursue this with the head office for Extended stay and with legal council. Ive not yet decoded but feel she sho u ldnt be allowed to talk to guests like that and continue to work with the public.

When I arrived at 7 pm with a confirmed reservation, I was informed that they could not provide me -- or anyone else -- with a room. Because no employees had shown up for work -- so no rooms were cleaned, no one could check in, no rooms could be provided. Fortunately, two GMs from other locations had just arrived, and they were able to book me a room at another location.

The staff is warm, welcoming and friendly. Property is conveniently located, safe, quiet. Room were disappointing. Kitchen cabinets, appliances, etc. are outdated needs to be updated.

This extended stay is very clean with a wonderful staff to go with it. It is very quiet and peaceful I would recommend this extended stay to anyone.

This is a great place if you just enjoy peace and quiet

We are really happy with this hotel. We are currently homeless and have stayed at quite a few hotels. We werent happy with most of them, either because of the cost or there were less than friendly people just hanging around outside the room and around the hotel, a few had cockroaches and weren't very clean and some had employees that were not friendly at all. ESA: Dayton - South was clean, quiet and relaxing, had all the amenities we need and the employees were welcoming, nice and more than helpful. This is our first choice of where to stay now.

Perfect location for me as it was close to the interstate but far enough that there wasn't constant traffic noise. Very convenient to family events in Miamisburg as well as to go ride the bikeways of the Miami Ohio Valley system.

Hotel was older under remodel. Nothing like the pictures. The only things offered for breakfast was coffee and granola bars. The morning clerk was miserable. She was not helpful at all.
