Econo Lodge Cortland Downtown

Parking lot was a little rough.

I asked for extra towels and pillow was denied. Then i requested again on the door tab never happed. Usually i would hang towels and wash cloths up and use again but there were no racks. The rooms had no smoking but they reaked of smoke. The floor was filthy. There was some sort ofconstruction going on in the room next door till 11 pm or so. There stairs and walkways have missing concrete / holes. I will say cortland is a lovely town. Many restaurants and playgrouds

Room smelled like mold. Ice machine was broken and went to the front desk and they didn't have any as well. Opened refrigerator and almost vomited from the smell. TV didn't work correctly.

Area was dirty, lots of homeless in the area/parking lot. Our door didn't lock completely. The dumpster was overflowing with garbage and old mattresses. I asked for extra towels and they said no until I returned the dirty towels I had.

The Econolodge sign is not lit at all at night, making the entire property virtually invisible unless you know where it is. That's my only complaint.

Awful. I don’t normally review but this place was scary. Long term tenants in & out at all hours. Noice kept waking up our puppy so no sleep for anyone. Cops there both night we stayed. Parking lot not cleared of snow or slush. Almost feel multiple times getting into car. Tv kept freezing.

Bathtub painted and peeling. Window was very badly cracked, and the deadbolt would not close. Concrete steps cracked moderately. The worst cable TV channel selection I ever experienced in a motel. None of the three networks. The window was knee high and faced the outside walkway which made the crack more of a concern.

The only positive for this hotel was that it was inexpensive & close to SUNY Cortland. It was located in a sketchy part of town (homeless person was sleeping in the ice machine vestibule). The entire property was outdated & in disrepair. Our non-smoking room smelled. The bathtub faucet dripped continuously. The inside of the mini-fridge was covered in frost. The internet/cable was spotty and kept freezing-up. I was embarrassed to bring my teenager to this hotel . . .

They were doing construction directly outside my room at 7 am on A Sunday morning. They advertised a continental breakfast. They had juice boxes and that''s it. There wasn't even coffee. Each time I went to the front desk for something there was nobody working.

The Parking lot was dark and deserted (on a Saturday night), people camping out in the stairwell, dirty (filthy) bed sheets, bathrooms unsanitary, black mold in toilets, stains and hair on toilet rim, broken door locks, unsafe atmosphere... and more

I didn’t like anything, they show online a decent place and when you get there its dirty smelly place. Bathroom ceiling bad mold growing all over it. Bathroom tub had tiny bugs crawling out of it. Floor was dirty with hair stuck on it. Fridge had ice stuck all over it. Beds were super uncomfortable. Also they mention online free breakfast and it turns out its just coffee in weekdays and weekend is coffee/ breakfast which from far looked like it would be like muffins in a container called so breakfast. We only stayed 1 night. But never ever would i pay 175 cad for a night. Also it is a quality of a motel and not a hotel line. Also my fridge leaked melted ice water all over the floor, and i was told to close the fridge properly. Also people bring pets there and they make so much noise. Not to mention music and loud party that goes around at late at night and they do nothing about it really

The person at the front desk didn't even greet me with a hello. The bathroom was filthy (literally, hair in the tub and in the corner, in the dirt that was in the corner of the wall and tub), and there was a water bottle that has some sort of white liquid in it (I'm going to hope it was milk!!!) in the minibar. The garbage in the big garbage bin was not only overflowing but also just strewn all around it and even though the rooms themselves were all non-smoking, there were big ashtray receptacles outside of every room AND because there was a gap under the door that was about a half an inch, all the smell came directly into the room anyway. Overall, the hotel looks like it was built in the 80s and is so old and run down, never been updated and dirty that I would never recommend anyone to stay there.

My stay was terrible. I checked in 7/11 for a one night stay and was sent to room 206. When I walked in, It was awful. It smelled like smoke (it was a non smoking room), the desk lamp was broken and the shade torn, the security lock on the door was broken in half. The desk chair was stained and very gross, I was afraid to sit on it. The beds had two very flat pillows and only a sheet and the comforter. I sat on the bed to take a facetime call. While talking to family, my child says, "Mom there is a bug on your jacket" I look down, sure enough a bug. Then it hits me...BED BUGS! I throw the bedding back to find bed bugs in it. DISGUSTING. I go down to the office to report the bugs, the gentleman apololgized and gave me a new a room. I was totally freaked out and disgusted. I had no other options as all hotels were booked. I was a afraid to sleep in my car because the clientele at the motel were sketchy, hanging out on the balcany infront of their rooms smoking and yelling to one another. It appeared a majority of them lived there. The new room was a little better. The lamp and lock were not broken, I saw no visible bugs in the bed. However I had no hot water in the shower, and hot water in the sink after letting it run 10 minutes. I was still charged full rate for the most disgusting rooms I have ever stayed in and I travel 2x a month. I do NOT recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

Room was dirty. Broken lamp shade. Bathroom....don't know when was the last time it was cleaned. Sink .. cracked. Beds...uncomfortable. Sheets were old or dirty. My child and I did not sleep well. I took a lot of pics .. really want to see??? Also, could hear other guests having arguments or others conversations.

I will be reporting this hotel to the county health department. I checked into room 106, and upon inspection, found a cockroach on the curtains. I only have a video recording of the roach, but Hotel.com doesn’t seem to allow video upload in reviews. Immediately, we called the front desk to inform them, and a man stated they would send someone to the room to check it out. About ten minutes later, the front desk called back, and a woman requested that we come to the office so they can give us a different room. We denied this solution, as one roach is often a sign of more, and we requested a refund, to which they denied. I informed them I will dispute the charge immediately, and would be checking out. As my friend and I packed the car, two male employees stood outside the office and watched us the whole time. I’m currently disputing the charge, because aside from the cockroach, the grime and stains we found on the walls, light fixtures and cigarette burns on the comforter is unacceptable. This place is unsanitary, uncomfortable, and unhelpful to their guests. I reached out to Hotels.com to seek support for a refund, however I received an email stating they could do nothing, only offer me $25.

The Econolodge in Cortland was dark, gloomy and uninviting. The bathroom conditions were disgusting, with black, cracked grout and a peeling bathtub. I will never ever go back!

The place looked dangerous and dirty to begin with. Woke up with bug bites all over (bed bugs we hadn’t seen when we checked the beds). Door didn’t lock and someone tried to barge in. Also shower took forever to start. Will never be staying here again. Absolutely awful. They should be shut down.

Two night stay for business. Price was right for our needs. Everything was clean. The upstairs residents above us were very noisy all night long. They advertised breakfast which they did not have.

Bed is hard had spring poking up Tried to check out and get a receipt. Manager just took my key and said I was all set. Rowdy guests till 4 am

Property & rooms need to be updated. My non- smoking room smelled of stale smoke. I ran tap for 3 minutes - no hot water. Poor quality of pictures on TV. Limited channels.

Excellent prices older hotel in cortland, tastefully updated, clean, well maintained & reasonably comfortable, Internet very slow as well as Television content glitched ( delayed ) every few minutes. Good Value

Came to Cortland to visit our son who is a college freshman for his 18th birthday. Service was good. There was an issue at check in with their system but they made it go seamless for us. The room was clean but outdated. Although portions were newer (bathroom was recently renovated and newer laminate wood tile floors) the furniture and drop ceilings were scratched and stained. One mattress was soft the other honestly felt like sleeping on cardboard. I had never been to downtown Cortland and was surprised with the overall neighborhood. Walking around at night didn’t seem safe. Although there were sharp containers on the street we also found hypodermic needles littering many places. Interesting people were in the parking lot, but overall our stay was quiet. At no fault of the employees and owners, I probably will not be staying again.

I chose to stay at this hotel during my daughter's Cornell graduation season, as all the nearby hotels had skyrocketed their prices. Fortunately, this hotel still offered a very reasonable rate. The rooms at the hotel were spacious and incredibly comfortable. However, what truly touched our hearts was the hotel owner who generously gifted us with several wonderful graduation mementos. It was an unforgettable and heartwarming experience that exceeded all expectations.

Very old in need of renovation. Very noisy - neighbors fighting, shouting most of the night. Bathroom and shower very small.

The floors were dirty. The bed was more bouncy than a trampoline. Our sheets had crumbs on them. We stayed not even a hour and booked a different hotel. The front desk did offer us a different room and did give a partial refund. The tv was old and had poor quality picture. The room smelled musty and Smokey.

Do not stay here. My truck was surrounded when we pulled in and they were taking pictures of my truck and license plate. Key to the room did not work. Front desk spoke very little English. When I tried to tell him that the second key didn't work he slammed the door in my face. Thankfully I called hotels.com and they issued me a refund.

Water leaking all over the floor. Got up in the morning and no hot water! Went to the office and he asked if I was sure because they fixed it yesterday! Alarms going off all night. Limited to no staff after 9 pm. Waiting at the front desk for 15 minutes after calling the number stated 3 times and the guy kept hanging up. The place is dirty and half of the place looks like it is being used as low income temporary housing. Horrible horrendous experience.

Didnt even eat breakfast wasnt much there was very noisy, bed was uncomfortable, person at desk wrote my room number on someone elses door key so they tried 15 times to get into my room. Overall bad experience

Checked in for 2 nights. After 1 day while I was at a conference the staff entered my room and confiscated all of my luggage. When I returned to the property they screamed at me that I was "checked out" I had no idea what was happened and asked if they'd like to see my reservation. It was extremely scary as a solo femme traveller in another country. They then realized their error and stalled me at the front desk for 20 minutes and then blamed an "untrained cleaner" for the mistake. When I opened my bag I found they had thrown open shampoo in with food and clothing. It was packed like a toddler had done it. Contacted Expedia for help and was initially told they are "only a booking site" and couldn't do anything to help me. Eventually got a refund for my stay (after hours of advocating for myself) but NOTHING for my damaged belongings or the massive invasion of privacy and abuse of power. Do not recommend this property. I don't think Expedia should be listing it anymore as I indicated it to them. But they're obviously ignoring my plea. Super disappointing. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU ARE FILMING THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT VOLUME 5.

This was a horrible property. Unclean and rude staff all around. Our toilet broke and they didn’t fix it at all. Told us they would give a full refund and now they’re going back on their word and only giving us a part refund. Do not stay here. Horrible service, horrible hotel, horrible people.

This is very much a motel. The outside is very run down with some questionable people loitering around. The room is adequate.

It was a great location for enjoying town as we didn’t need the car at all. Comfortable room and friendly staff at checkin and check out-they even began breakfast a little earlier than usual as we had a long drive back home. Other than a few broken panes of glass in the room next door that needs to be fixed, the property was ok for the price we paid.

This hotel is nicely situated near the I81 and the city centre. It was nice and quiet and the rooms open out onto the courtyard. As I was on the ground floor I managed to park 2 metres from my door. A bit shabby inside but comfy enough for a 1 or 2 night stay.

The price was right and it was walking distance to a number of places to eat, which was nice. But some guests were told there would be baked goods for breakfast (there were not). The WI-FI worked pretty well in the office, but not well in the rooms. And the garbage can in the office was overflowing when we arrived and had not been changed when we left (we were there 2 nights). The room itself was clean, if well worn. Unfortunately our room heater was not working and there were no additional blankets available when we asked about them. I think the staff is dong their best considering what they charge and their week by week clientele.

The hotel is conveniently located. The area was quiet and felt safe. This is an older hotel that could use upgrades in all areas but the staff was attentive. If necessary we would stay again.

This is a very nice but basic motel in Cortland. It has a nice free breakfast and all the rooms lead out onto an external balcony so it's nice and easy to get in and out although make sure you lock the door as in theory anyone from outside can walk up the stairs and into your room otherwise. The bath was very old and worn looking. The breakfast was basic but ok with juice, cereal and honey buns.

At the check in we were told that continental breakfast included. There was only coffee served. We had to go elsewhere looking for breakfast.

We went there especially for the included breakfast in the price and turn out they serve it on weekend only. No where online it was written weekend only, we would have went somewhere else.

I paid the night that include breakfast and they said no breakfast here i am very desapointed of that
