Super 8 by Wyndham Sandusky

This was a Super 8. It was clean and had some great perks. For example, there was free cookies and milk from 7 to 9 PM and free popcorn and pop from 7 PM to 11 PM. The outdoor pool was well maintained with updated lounge chairs and music playing. The rooms have had some updates, such as new flooring and freshly painted walls. The bathrooms and sinks have not been updated. They are at least from the 1990s if not earlier with some scratches, cracks, old faucets, etc. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We had trouble with our key card, and the gentleman remade it for us. This place was packed on a Monday night, and they were limited parking spots when we returned from Cedar Point at 11 PM. It was also a bit noisy that evening, but the next night was very quiet. You could not beat the price for the location and what you got. However, this is no Marriott.

Breakfast was great, no protein options though but they did offer cereal fruit yogurt a pancake machine Bagels toast and muffins. The evening snacks of cookies popcorn and Fountain sodas are a great perk as well. The beds were comfortable, the hotel was quiet considering it is not far at all from Cedar Point. The Wi-Fi wasn't the greatest. The beds were comfortable the only issue we had was the light above the mirror did not want to work. That made it a little difficult to see brushing teeth and putting in contacts. The beds were also comfortable perfect for a place to sleep after a day at Cedar Point. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip for the park.

Nothing really happened to make me feel this way but it did come across as a sketchy neighbourhood. Other than that, the staff were amazing. Breakfast was great! There was a pancake machine for hot food. Lots of cereal, muffins, breads, bagels, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice and fountain drinks. Pool is clean and the kids enjoyed swimming when we weren't at Cedar Point. Beds were clean. Appreciated the mini-fridge with freezer and microwave. There was no coffee machine but there's coffee in the lobby. There was a hairdryer and there was supposed to be an iron but it was missing. It was perfect for one night. We were just passing through town hoping to ride a few rides at CP on the way home. So, it was perfect for what we needed! Thank you!

Wifi didn't work, bad signal. Staff very friendly. Need healrhier, lower sugar options for breakfast. Room was nice.

This place was nice and welcoming. The check in was super quick and easy. They greet you and make sure you're well taken care of. They offer breakfast and later in the day the offer snacks like fresh popcorn amd cookies baked fresh and have a soda machine at no extra cost. This is the first hotel that I see does something nice like this. It is just a short drive from Cedar Point. The place is nice and quiet. The pool is very well kept as well.

Very reasonably priced, clean pool that people were out every day enjoying. Rhonda ran the breakfast station and was the nicest breakfast attendant we'd ever met, Will definately stay there again, and finally, rooms were clean!

Was all I needed for the night after a day at Cedar Point. Looks run down and the shower was in need of a replacement. Loud in the rooms could hear the people above us all night and morning. Conveniently located close to Cedar Point. Pool was nice and clean, was definitely a plus. There is a bowling alley and bar/restaurant across the street. That was great for some night time entertainment. Breakfast was crowded but I got what I needed before hitting the road. I could stay here again for 1 night but if you are picky about your hotels you might want to spend more and stay at a nicer place.

The room was disgusting. We booked the hotel because the reviews were good. They were ALL LIES. They either delete the bad reviews or they know whoever it is that made the good reviews. NOTHING about this place was good. We were going to stay here for the last weekend cedar point was open as it was cheaper and we really just needed somewhere to sleep. I wouldn't have my worst enemy lay there head down there. As soon as we walked into the room i took some pictures and walked right back out and told the guy at the front desk who didnt seem to care that the room was nasty and we just drove home. He anwered phone like it was inconveniencing him all while playing on his cell phone. He had not a care in the world about what was going on. The carpets were so dirty they were almost black, there was stuff on the bedding that looked like dry body fluids. It was just freaking DISGUSTING!

Hotel room was very dirty. There were pills on the counter in our room, the shower was not cleaned, there were bugs in the sink and on the counter, stains on the rug. Guess you get what you pay for.

We stayed here in June and had a great stay. This time it was far from what we had previously experienced. We were in a room that was essentially in an alley allowing no sunlight into our room and our air conditioner was leaking so much that there was a constant river of water we had to avoid any time we came and went. It just felt strange being hidden in a dark and wet hallway away from everyone else. We noticed that they have a few rooms used for the hotel that are in great locations and kept wondering why they would have what I assume are storage/staff facilities in locations that would better suit a paying customer. We decided to not let it ruin the trip, no big, but when we got into our room the amount of bugs and specifically spiders was wild. We spent the majority of our stay killing bugs that seemed to appear out of nowhere until we realized that the front door didn't actually close all the way and since we were in a dark hallway the bright light required just invited a ridiculous amount of bugs into our room. We even had to go buy a fly swatter just to keep up. The floors were so dirty that our socks are stained and ruined, the bathroom door was so damaged that it wouldn't close all the way either. I'm so disappointed because my fiancé and I are really good about overlooking a lot. I know I'm not booking a 5 star hotel but I do expect my front door to close, the floor to be at least mostly clean and to not have to feel like I'm camping due to the amount of bugs.

Upon entering our room there was an overpowering musty smell. The carpet was stained. It didn’t look dirty, but the smell was bad. The shower floor felt squishy like you might fall through and when the bathroom fan turned on it had a moldy smell. The sheets also felt kind of damp. Had we not gotten there very late after a day at Cedar Point I probably would have asked for another room. The best part of our stay by far was the kind lady who runs the breakfast. She was so kind, welcoming and helpful! The breakfast was pretty good. They had cereal, oatmeal, toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt and pancakes. Maybe some fruit too. Overall I would not stay here again. The smell and condition of the room was just too bad.

The bed was comfortable. The cedar point-themed decor was nice. Having 2 king beds was good. The rest? Meh. The nickel and dime services, like late and extra-late check out as well as early and extra-early check in are a nice option to have, with of course, the upcharge for the motel. Our room had a used, dirty washcloth hanging on the hook on the back of our bathroom door and a bunch of hairs in the shower. Both bedspreads were visibly soiled, with…something…I’m hoping is just food from people spilling while eating at the foot of the bed, because it seemed maybe like an oily stain at the edges. But after stripping the bedspread off, there was a blood stain on the white duvet underneath it too. That didn’t inspire much confidence as to the overall cleanliness of the joint. It was weird having carpeting in the sink area and the bathroom is pretty tiny - not for the claustrophobic. There were no sheer curtains on the windows, so you either get darkness from the light-blocking shades or you get every person who strolls past your door able to look right in with a clear view of you inside. Being a motel, it would have been nice to have a modicum of privacy while allowing the natural light in. Overall, you get what you pay for in a tourist area. In the end, we got to our room at 1am and checked out at 9am, so it wasn’t worth bothering the desk, but if I intended to spend any amount of time in the room, pay twice the price and go somewhere twice as nice. You’ll thank yourself later.

All employees were kind and helpful and loved the cookies/popcorn every evening but otherwise we weren’t pleased with our stay. Our first room smelled like smoke even though we requested a non smoking room when booking so we got moved to another available room. The floors in our new room were SO dirty— there was visible dirt lying around everywhere and especially in the corners of the room and bathroom. The floors were so dirty that everyone’s feet were literally black so I ended up using a towel to wipe the floor several times because after requesting room service the next day, no one ever came to clean the room. Our bathroom door didn’t open and close properly and we had to fight with the door knob to get the bathroom door open. The bath tub drained very slowly, to the point where water would pool up in the tub while showering. There was also hair everywhere— on the floor, in the bathroom, on the toilet, on the tv stand/nightstand. Breakfast was also offered but it was VERY limited.

Room was dirt there wa dead bugs everywhere . There was spider webs in the bathroom corners. The beds sheets were dirty. We had to go to the front desk to request brand new bedding. Overall the room made us feel dirty barely wanted to shower or even sleep there

Carpet looks like it's never been cleaned, bottom of our socks and feet were dark brown from walking on it. Musty smell throughout. Bugs around sink area and dead bugs on the ceiling in the bathroom. Front door barely latched and and the extra security latch was barely holding in. Shower rod was coming out of the wall on both ends and curtain was browning. Either burning hot water or cold water in the shower. No in between. Bathroom vent looks clogged with dust and dirt. Spider webs cover everything outside. Drug use and drinking in the parking lot all night and into the early hours of the morning. Not a great area for families. Pictures on their website are very misleading. The price and location to Cedar Point are it's only redeeming qualities.

This hotel is super close to Cedar Point and plenty of other basic needs - restaurants/shopping/quick stops. The room was dark, and smelled like stale cigarettes. Think - this hotel, like all hotels, used to be smoked in decades ago and the proper turnover wasn't made to get rid of the smell. Old bowling alley smell vibes. Air freshener would easily cover this, it wasn't super intense. You can see light coming through around the door in spots, so this is not a quiet stay if there is parking lot traffic or other guests staying near you. The cleaning carts and rolling luggage outside of our door were a disturbance. The provided breakfast was classic continental - toast, bagels, muffins, make your own pancakes, yogurt, bananas, coffee, juice, etc. No hot breakfast items other than the pancakes. The shower/tub water got super hot which we enjoyed after long days of walking the park. The beds were deceiving. Very comfortable to lay in at first, fluffy and cloud like. But woke up every morning with back pain from lack of support. This was a super bummer, I could have forgiven every other aspect for a good night's sleep. The staff were all super friendly! I had interactions with housekeeping as well as the front desk staff, breakfast attendants, they were all very lovely! Overall, I wouldn't stay here again, unless it was all I could afford but for the price I think it's fair!

In reality, i had no choice but to choose this property. There was bike week, Comicon, and soccer tournaments going on, and everything reasonably close was booked. Im glad i did. Overall, i would book this place again. My biggest worry is cleanliness, and it was VERY clean. Yeah, the decor is a little outdated, but well taken care of and not in disrepair. Our room was on the 2nd floor tucked in a corner, so nice and quiet despite the place being full. The heating/ cooling was easy enough to keep the temps comfortable. Staff was efficient. Check in and out easy.

Room was very musty and humid. Floor was wet upon check in, had to dry with a towel. Door to room had clearly been kicked and was only lined up at the lock; sunlight could be clearly seen through the gap. Close to Cedar Point but not a nice place.

Clean room comfy bed didn’t use the pool, hotel rooms are not sound proofed very well, you can hear the folks above you walking if your in a bottom floor room overall great deal

Room smelled of cigarette smoke, beds were rock hard and not comfortable, bathroom is way small even for one person, people above us decided at 7am to stomp all morning while getting ready and woke us up.

We were so pleased with our stay here!! We stayed at Cedar Cove on our last trip and it was awful compared to this gem right next door! Every staff member we interacted with was SO kind! Rhonda was incredibly welcoming and kind! The breakfast was AWESOME! The popcorn, cookies and soda in the PM hours were great! Pool was nice! Room was clean! We were just looking for a quick inexpensive place to crash after a long day at the park but we WILL be coming back to stay on our next trip down! The retro coaster pics were such a nice touch too! Cant say enough great things about this place! It was no ritz Carlton but absolutely perfect for us!

We always stay here when we come to Sandusky. For the price, this place is a steal! Breakfast area is very clean and the breakfast attendent on Friday 10-11 was amazing! my kids just loved her! a very nice experience! definately recommend!!!

Bath tub didn’t drain and guy at the front desk in the evening was rude and dismissive when checking in. Didn’t even apologize about the bath tub when checking out.

We appreciated that the hotel allowed check-in at any time, which was convenient. However, parking late at night was a challenge. The rooms seemed to vary quite a bit — for example, we had friends staying closer to the pool, and their room had a strong chlorine smell, no carpet, and stains on the mattresses. They were so uncomfortable that they complained to the front desk and ultimately decided to leave, driving four hours back home. Our room didn’t have that issue, but it did make me wonder about the water quality when we showered. On a positive note, breakfast was a highlight — there was a staff member diligently cleaning and restocking items, which we appreciated. I feel like the experience really depends on which room you get. The exterior of the property was also disappointing and didn’t match the photos online, which felt misleading. While the price was fair, we probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

The super eight is great the motel next-door definitely leaves something to the imagination not a kind of place. I would stay by by choice but it’s very close to Cedar point in for the price you can’t beat it just make sure you lock your doors.

Clean rooms, friendly staff and it was only a few miles from the park (Cedar point).

It was just an ok place. The property needs a lot of fixes up. There were bee hives on the outside of the doors. Lot of the doors through at the place did not full shut right are room had space that someone could pry open the door with. That outside could really be used for some maintenance. The room was ok, and the bed was sleeping able. Things around the area got very noisy late at night. Breakfast was nice and the lady taken care of it was wonderful. Locate is good very close to Ceder Point.

For the price it was what I expected..Had two queen beds and one had blood stains on mattress pad. Big stain in middle of the floor. Toilet and other things such as sink and counters were made for children. Not the hotels fault but train horns blew every 10-15 minutes

Modest motel style accomodations. Very over priced due to the closeness to Cedar Point. Very close to the park.

I liked this place because it was less than half the money than the last place was at Cedar Point. The staff was very nice. I was 20 minutes early and the staff was cleaning the room. When they were done, I walked in to find a clean room. It needs new carpet for sure. Everything else was fine. Breakfast was continental. So, not proteins, just carbs. I only got coffee and it was great. The lot is a little rough, but it didn't bother me. So, this place is not fancy at all. It was inexpensive though and right by the park.

We usually stay at CPExpress but decided to try something cheaper with breakfast. You will not find a nicer staff- check in was easy & quick. Rooms were spacious and clean. Beds comfortable. Nice pool. Bathroom needs help. Toilet rocked, tub backed up to above my ankles and shower curtain had stain on it. We complained about the tub & shower curtain -they fixed the tub but after 3rd person it started backing up again. Our trip was only 2 nites. Shower curtain never got changed out. Breakfast is huge but no non-carb options so if you’re gluten free- bring your own. They have milk and yogurt. They offer evening snacks of cookies, popcorn, & soda which is nice after returning from the park. There is a train that runs 3-4x when we were there including during nite/early morning- so if you’re light sleeper bring earplugs/noise canceller

Very close to Cedar Point without having to pay a lot of money. Very nice breakfast, cookies and milk from 7 to 9pm for the kids and popcorn from 9 to 11pm

Be honest…you’re only staying here for Cedar Point and are willing to pay more for the hotel’s proximity. The breakfast was fine, but don’t expect any protein…no eggs, no bacon, no sausage. The shower pressure was fantastic!

The staff at Super 8 Sandusky were friendly and helpful. They provided a respectable continental breakfast and provided fountain drinks and popcorn in the evening. It was the perfect snack after a day at the amusement park. I would select this hotel again for future visits to the region.

Breakfast was pretty good and the lady who does the breakfast was so friendly and always kept things full, front desk was also friendly and helpful..grounds were a little dirty but we enjoyed the treats that were offered at night

Always stay here when going to Cedar Point a few times a year. It’s cheaper and convenient just down the road. The breakfast is decent and they also do popcorn and cookies. Thirsty Pony is across the street we walk there for pizza and drinks.
