I had great expectations for this historic hotel. But the lobby and restaurant areas looked a bit shabby with carpeting that looked dingy. Room was large and beds were good but no comfortable chairs, only 4 straight back chairs. Restaurant food was mediocre and fitness room was a joke. It was more like a closet with old equipment. I was sorry to see this historic gem is not well cared for.

The overall experience was fine. The interior throughout is a bit tired but about what I expected. I valet'd my car for $12 and was told it was 24 hour service. I had to leave early in the morning and prompted the valet via text as was the process. When I came downstairs, they were not able to reach whoever is responsible for retrieving parked cars. I was told it would be fastest if I went to their lot myself. I had to walk 4 blocks in the dark and use a code to let myself into the valet lot to retrieve my vehicle. I would stay there again but probably would not attempt to use the valet service.

Loved the restored old hotel with its gorgeous Palm Court dining area under a magnificent stained glass ceiling. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room had a lovely high ceiling but had some blank walls that could have been improved with some wall hangings or other art. We were nice and cool inside despite the hot weather. Parking on the street was OK though not a great feature.

We love staying in historical hotels and this one was considered the nicest hotel between Salt Lake City and Seattle in it's day. It has been nicely refurbished since its close call to be totally torn down in the 1990's. The Palm room is used for dinner dining and truly lovely, with a gorgeous stained glass ceiling. Parking is on the street, though you can pay for a Valet service and they will take your car to a secure lot. Baker City historical area is a very small and quite a safe area, so we felt we didn't need to valet park. The rooms are lovely, ours had 10ft windows and a gorgeous crystal chandelier and the beds very comfortable. They forgot to "service" our room to start our second day though, which was sad. Someone brought up some things for us after a call downstairs, but what was brought up was not all we asked for. So we couldn't enjoy our coffee in the room as we didn't have cream and sugar. A small thing, but we missed it. We had dinner in the Palm room the first night and sorry to say that was a disaster. My meal was undercooked and uneatable. My husband did enjoy his though, fish and chips. The second night we found a great restaurant 1/2 block away, Latitude, can't say enough good about that one. We tried breakfast the next morning at the hotel, served in the bar area. It was delightful, so good. Obviously the chef was not the one doing dinner. Pancakes nice and fluffy and a delicious ham and cheese scramble along with great coffee.

Gorgeous property, excellent staff, breakfast perfectly cooked and comfortable beds. Only downside is if you can't find parking on the street and don't want to use valet parking their parking area is a bit far.

Some things you might expect at a mid-to -upscale hotel are not up to par such as an exercise room, which had a single piece of equipment plus a few dumbbells. Breakfast is not included but there is a close by bakery that is good also. The AC unit above third floor. rooms was noisy with a constant rumble. You might find street parking, but the hotel lot is blocks away

Our stay at the Geiser Grand Hotel was really good. Clean and quiet and historic! The staff was all cordial and friendly. We Will be staying there again when we visit Eastern Oregon and Baker City. The only downside I would mention is the parking. It’s mainly street parking which is not the most convenient, but safe.

The property is a unique historical building and was interesting. However, the food was overpriced and not very good. The parking was not convenient. We were urged to use (and pay) for valet because otherwise you park on a downtown street.

This historic hotel is right in the middle of downtown. We had an excellent meal at the restaurant and the room was very clean. Everything worked beautifully. It was a quick overnight trip, but lovely.

A disaapointing stay at the famous Geisner Hotel. The room, 309, had a constant loud buzzing noise due to its location near some electrical equipment. I was offered an alternative but that room was unattractive. I asked for some ear plugs and they wanted to charge me for them! The restaurant and public areas were very gloomy. Nobody had bothered to sweep the entrance hall of leaves that had blown in from the street. Only saving grace was the friendly barman.

The room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed. The architecture of the building is fantastic. Nice to be in an old historic hotel. The restaurant was cozy and warm. The rack of lamb was delicious, as well as the halibut dish. Vey pretty Christmas decor. The staff is welcoming and kind. We had a great stay!!

Even with a no refund policy, rather than stay the second night, we choose to leave. The staff was rude, as if we were a big inconvenience for staying there. Everything felt cheap, for example the hair dryer could barely blow any air. There were tea bags, but no cups or even plastic glasses. The floor was dirty. We ordered room service and after 2 hours it still hadn't come. The room service actually never came and when we inquired at the desk we were told they'd talk to the kitchen staff and that was the last we heard about it. We visit Baker 2 or 3 times a year and will definitely never be staying at the Geiser Grand again. We will also be telling everyone we know about this.

We were on the road and booked very last minute so we paid top dollar for our room. The room itself was nice, yet there was a stained chair that we saw as soon as we entered the room, so not the best way to enter. There were multiple people in the room next door and we could hear everything they said along with their TV chatter,( probably the downside of an older hotel). The bed itself was very comfortable. I would say the room could use some TLC, and a vanity set(cotton swabs, etc in the bathroom would be appropriate). The bar/dining room food was good (not excellent or anything but good), and the service from the bartender was attentive. For all the choices along this stretch of freeway, it is the best option, yet we paid $400 for the night. We chose to pay that, and I believe it was their last room. Was it a $400 room? Probably not, but we got a good nights sleep away from the freeway, so it served its purpose. The front desk staff were nice and pleasant -especially Leif.

We all thought the hotel was beautiful. The staff was wonderful .The room was clean excluding the tv and windows.TV was loaded with dust and windows were not clean overlooking the mountains. The food was ok. For the price of the stay and food I expected more. It was a good experience but do not see our family returning.

Room was beautiful. Hotel and service was fantastic. The only downside was the low constant hum I kept hearing, HVAC? We were on the 3rd floor, so maybe the location of the room.

Overall, a great to stay and also dine. My room, 304, was quite noisy however. The air handler must be located over it. It roared much of the night.

Gorgeous old school hotel. This place is like stepping back in time. Beautiful architecture inside and out. Historical. Lovely rooms with crystal chandeliers and gorgeous tile bathrooms. The shower water pressure alone was worth the price. From front desk to bar and restaurant, the staff was first class. Price for food and drink was reasonable. I didn’t think hotels like this still existed. Luckily, it does.

Loud hotel. Especially the heat at night turning on every hour hour like a 747 taking off. Besides that, it was pretty good. But “a good night sleep” seems critical for a hotel

Upgrade for $30 to a nicer room ($326.37 total) but hard to sleep with humming noise in room all night.Rm 207. Nice place to stay for a special occasion!

We were on the road and booked very last minute so we paid top dollar for our room. The room itself was nice, yet there was a stained chair that we saw as soon as we entered the room, so not the best way to enter. There were multiple people in the room next door and we could hear everything they said along with their TV chatter,( probably the downside of an older hotel). The bed itself was very comfortable. I would say the room could use some TLC, and a vanity set(cotton swabs, etc in the bathroom would be appropriate). The bar/dining room food was good (not excellent or anything but good), and the service from the bartender was attentive. For all the choices along this stretch of freeway, it is the best option, yet we paid $400 for the night. We chose to pay that, and I believe it was their last room. Was it a $400 room? Probably not, but we got a good nights sleep away from the freeway, so it served its purpose. The front desk staff were nice and pleasant -especially Leif.

We loved the historic nature of the hotel, it is a sight to see and should be a wonderful experience. It did start that way, OK greeting and check-in. We loved the room initially, but started to see a lack of detail in upkeep. Damaged furniture. These were not even antiques, the office chair needed to be completely replaced, the nice "sitting" chair was threadbare and was showing padding/filling. Put a local upholsterer to work. The Bathroom Mirror (an antique) is cracked and it\'s at the top of the mirror, and an independent piece that could easily be replaced by a jeweler or good glass worker. The Grand Geiser advertises it\'s comforts, that the Romantic four poster bed would be comfortable, it was just OK, the mattress is worn out, there was a ridge in the middle of the bed that made you roll out towards the edge of the bed. I worked at a very nice historic hotel in southern California for a while (The Mission Inn, Riverside California), the things that set this hotel apart from the other fancy hotels was the attention to detail, impeccable service, good food and drink, consistency, Happy outgoing staff. We chose to not make a reservation for dinner (we had other plans) but we did look forward to Breakfast, the Bartender assured us that it was very good, so we planned to have a Grand Geiser Breakfast. Nope. Breakfast was cancelled, with no explanation, the desk clerk was demoralized. The staff seemed sad. Lack of attention to detail. No breakfast. Not happy with this stay

Fun and historic. Worth a single try to say we did. The first room I had gave difficulty with the bath plug. They offered (we paid for) an "upgrade" in which we went from a king bed to a queen (the room was larger). Which was platformed and too high for my short stature to get in and out of easily. In addition it must have been the location of some sort of air engine because it was LOUD. My sleep was fitful and disturbed due to the pitch of sounds.

DON’T STAY AT THIS HOTEL! Management is completely incompetent and discourteous. Their manager, Mandy, clearly does not know how to train her staff and blames customers for her failings. Room service food was not good. The Caesar salad was an edible because the lettuce was all brown, and hamburger was completely overcooked. A hotel is charming, with old original details, but nothing can make up for the complete awfulness of Mandy, their manager. She’s the most unpleasant person in a hotel. I’ve encountered in years and it’s harming the hotel by having her work there.

Great place to stay! Alan at the front desk was super helpful and offered to provide any accommodations needed. Room was beautiful and super comfy bed! Hotel is also very clean and gorgeous!

The overall experience was fine. The interior throughout is a bit tired but about what I expected. I valet'd my car for $12 and was told it was 24 hour service. I had to leave early in the morning and prompted the valet via text as was the process. When I came downstairs, they were not able to reach whoever is responsible for retrieving parked cars. I was told it would be fastest if I went to their lot myself. I had to walk 4 blocks in the dark and use a code to let myself into the valet lot to retrieve my vehicle. I would stay there again but probably would not attempt to use the valet service.

The room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed. The architecture of the building is fantastic. Nice to be in an old historic hotel. The restaurant was cozy and warm. The rack of lamb was delicious, as well as the halibut dish. Vey pretty Christmas decor. The staff is welcoming and kind. We had a great stay!!

Even with a no refund policy, rather than stay the second night, we choose to leave. The staff was rude, as if we were a big inconvenience for staying there. Everything felt cheap, for example the hair dryer could barely blow any air. There were tea bags, but no cups or even plastic glasses. The floor was dirty. We ordered room service and after 2 hours it still hadn't come. The room service actually never came and when we inquired at the desk we were told they'd talk to the kitchen staff and that was the last we heard about it. We visit Baker 2 or 3 times a year and will definitely never be staying at the Geiser Grand again. We will also be telling everyone we know about this.

Check-in was difficult as the rooms (we had three rooms reserved) were not ready until after 4:00 pm. Sadly no complimentary upgrades were available! We had an older couple in our group and they needed a walk-in shower (no tub/shower combo) and that was discussed when the room was reserved, however when we arrived they were put into a room with a tub/shower! We arrived early and were told if they wanted a room right away that they had an upgraded room available with a walk-in shower for an additional $60 per night (#303) which we declined with the understanding that they had a room reserved with a walk-in shower. When we checked in after 4:00 we were told their room did not have a walk-in shower and they would have to pay $90 per night to upgrade to room #203! So their room ended up being very expensive and they complained about how bright it was overnight as there are not curtains on the whole window and the street lights were very bright. The rooms were quite noisy as we were able to hear the neighbors coughing and talking! It is a pretty hotel and walking around for shops, bars and restaurants was nice.

Outstanding experience at the Geiser Grand Hotel. I can't believe I have driven past Baker City so many time and have never driven through the heart of town. Amazing place to visit. The Hotel staff were all very kind and willing. Jason, the new bartender, was super accommodating even when we arrived late for dinner. He made us some incredible non-alcoholic drinks to go with our meal. Definitely went above and beyond. We will definitely be coming back!

Hotel is very nice. They tend to two bit you to death. Ie. No pet free room that'll be $10 extra. Book your breakfast now so we know how many staff to have. Cafe not open until4pm. No coffee in foyer. Low level service for what could be a grand stay.

It's right on Main Street so it's easy to walk around to shops and restaurants. The hotel itself seems to be well maintained - it's has the old feel without feeling worn.

This property was so cool! Definitely a step into the past. Beautifully refreshed! The staff was amazing. Walkable downtown. Safe and quiet. The park is right next door. Very pet friendly. Gorgeous views. I want to come back in winter and check out Anthony Lakes ski resort!

Our stay at the Geiser Grand Hotel was really good. Clean and quiet and historic! The staff was all cordial and friendly. We Will be staying there again when we visit Eastern Oregon and Baker City. The only downside I would mention is the parking. It’s mainly street parking which is not the most convenient, but safe.

We love staying in historical hotels and this one was considered the nicest hotel between Salt Lake City and Seattle in it's day. It has been nicely refurbished since its close call to be totally torn down in the 1990's. The Palm room is used for dinner dining and truly lovely, with a gorgeous stained glass ceiling. Parking is on the street, though you can pay for a Valet service and they will take your car to a secure lot. Baker City historical area is a very small and quite a safe area, so we felt we didn't need to valet park. The rooms are lovely, ours had 10ft windows and a gorgeous crystal chandelier and the beds very comfortable. They forgot to "service" our room to start our second day though, which was sad. Someone brought up some things for us after a call downstairs, but what was brought up was not all we asked for. So we couldn't enjoy our coffee in the room as we didn't have cream and sugar. A small thing, but we missed it. We had dinner in the Palm room the first night and sorry to say that was a disaster. My meal was undercooked and uneatable. My husband did enjoy his though, fish and chips. The second night we found a great restaurant 1/2 block away, Latitude, can't say enough good about that one. We tried breakfast the next morning at the hotel, served in the bar area. It was delightful, so good. Obviously the chef was not the one doing dinner. Pancakes nice and fluffy and a delicious ham and cheese scramble along with great coffee.

Nice old building with lots of character. Rooms are spacious, clean and tasteful. Restaurant dinner was excellent, though limited selection. Breakfast didn’t open until 8am, which was disappointing as there was no coffee available for guests until then.

The property is a unique historical building and was interesting. However, the food was overpriced and not very good. The parking was not convenient. We were urged to use (and pay) for valet because otherwise you park on a downtown street.

This jem of a property is in the heart of Baker City. My wife and I truly enjoyed our experience at the Geiser. They do a commendable job at ensuring guests enjoy their stay. We love the restaurant located in the hotel. Something about getting ready and heading down to dinner feels so opulent. The halibut filet with risotto and seasoned green beans was sublime. Overall it was a wonderful experience. It’s a taste of luxury with small-town feel. We are looking forward to visiting again.

Great staff. Good was amazing. Shower was great. There were a few things that needed attention - the curtain rings, the bed had a few lumps - but it is an historic hotel and full of such wonderful staff, food and decor that these few little things did not diminish from a great night.

Electric plugs next to bed did not work. No sugar for coffee in the morning. No attempt by staff to help with bags. Was a lovely hotel atmosphere, however the level of hospitality was not fabulous.

This hotel is like walking into the past. The room had high ceilings with decorative tin tiles, long curtain to separate rooms.
