The hotel was right in the middle of town. It was ok not great. But for one night just to sleep it was fine. But there wasn't any water or soda machines on the property.

Parking was a bit more of a challenge than I was used to as i was here before this trip. Seemed to be people moving vehicles around leaving me to park a few spots away from my assigned hotel door..

The price was great! Loved the free parking and closeness to everything. Our tv did not work and the internet is slow. Not deal breakers though because I’m not a big tv person.

The pool had clean water and was refreshing. Our room was acceptable. We realized that our bathroom window(ground floor and big enough for a person to get through) had no working latch and was open slightly. Too late to report for office to be open. However, reported in am. Outside of it, lots of cigarette butts and little snippets of trash on ground. Not a clean environment. Provided some packaged muffins and good coffee in am. Felt safe here and walked to Crepe Cottage for breakfast.

The staff was very friendly and efficient with a quick and easy check-in. I have read many of the reviews. For the people complaining, I am uncertain what guests were expecting for such a reasonable rate right in the middle of the historical area. The accommodations were nice with a comfortable bed, nice shower, working refrigerator, simple breakfast, and nice TV. The pool was relaxing and the area was quiet enough for a good night's rest. We were able to take a nice walk to get into the center of town to enjoy history, food, and shopping. For a family on a budget, this place worked out just fine.

The outdoor pool was poorly maintained. The seating area outside the room was poorly maintained with broken chairs etc. No coffee machine provided in room. Smoking took place at the pool and my family were upset about that.

It was close to downtown. It was quiet. We didn't use the pool but it looked refreshing and clean. No problems or issues. A very pleasant stay.

This was by far the WORST hotel! It was dirty and smelly. It probably hasn’t been cleaned in years. Dead bugs and cobwebs everywhere. The mattress was disgusting and stained.

This establishment needs to be closed down for the deplorable conditions of the room. No smoke detector. No mattress protector , there were dead bugs on the bathroom and on the shower curtsin. Filth on the baseboards, they drilled holes for cable wiring, couldn't taje the time to vacuum up sawdust. Speaking of dust, there was so much dust on the tv stand, i wrote "dust me" on stand. If you hsve mobility issues, be awzre that theres a large step to get i to the room. I have said issues and i was afraid i would trip and fall gettin into the room multiply times. I didnt stay my second night, i took the hot and found another motel to stay at. I felt as though i was sleeping in a garden shed for all the filth and dead bugs in the room.

I was very disapointed with the stay. After getting a third room that the manager went up and cleaned herself, we decided with it being a holiday weekend that we might as well "Rough it". The first two rooms had major cleanliness issues, a pretzel on the carpet that had mold growing around it. There was a microwave in one room that was filthy. The headboards had some kind of white film on them. The bedding had stains all over. The second room was about the same except the toilet in that one was leaking causing a black sludge around the toilet. Fingerprints all over the glass windows. The Third room we got was the "Suite", it was better because the manager went up stairs and changed the bedding, and cleaned first before we went in. The balcony had cigarettes all over. All the rooms say non-smoking but there is plastic coffee cans filled with butts everywhere. The mgr let us know that the toilet makes a noise when you flush but it still worked fine. Used the bathroom and it wouldn\'t flush. My husband went downstairs to the mgr and got a plunger. He plunged the toiled and cigarettes came up. I got a shower and there was hair in the drain, the shower curtain did not keep the water in, because there was no liner, so it made the floor slippery when I was getting out of the shower. I found dead bugs behind the door of the bathroom that looked very questionable. I cleaned those up. It was very filthy behind the headboard. I was expecting outdated, I wasn\'t expecting filthy.

First this is not the Hotel we booked nor the type of room. Manager of the original booking hotel sent us down the street to there other property. Upon arrival we saw that we did not have a room with a queen bed like we had booked.(2 full beds). The room smelled of something other than cleaning products. Went to use the sink and the faucet was very loose. Went to use the shower and that faucet was loose also. The toilet was not bolted down. Mold in the corners of the shower. Their was a lot of dust on ledges, tops of door moldings, pictures, mirrors and top of heat register. Mirrors looked like they used a dirty rag to clean. Lamp shades were busted. beds and pillows were not comfortable. Furniture was worn and scratched. Front window was dirty and lacked a screen. Very dated decor. No microwave in room. Parking lights visible but not working at night. After taking off my shoes my white socks tuned black from the dirty floor. Went on line and found the room they put us in was $13.00 a night cheaper than our original booking. The manager still charged us full booking price I checked Hotels.com and found that the room we originally booked was still showing as available.. We feel that this was a classic bate and switch.

I got a room directly next to the office. In the morning right after 8:00 am, I could hear a man and a woman arguing very loudly in the office. This went on for about 20 minutes and woke me up. Other than that the rooms could be cleaner.

Didn't have to drive much during our stay most of the time we walked..... Motel beds need replaced the bed was really uncomfortable and need extra pillows we left real early do no not able to sleep think we left lije 1am and we only live about 2-3 hours away.

The Colton is a good place to stay if you are willing to sacrifice amenities for low rates.There is no breakfast other than packages pastries, no in room coffee. The outside appears run down, but the inside of my room appeared to be maintained as well as can be expected. The bathroom was clean, but there were stains on the carpet. Some guests sat outside at night and were noisy past midnight. The AC in my room worked well and there was a small refrigerator. It was a two night stay by myself and it suited my needs. I would consider somewhere else for a longer stay or with someone.

Room was not well maintained. Bed was so bad my wife had to go to the chiropractor after one night. Cardboard used to keep furniture doors closed. Staff was not real helpful. Left after one night.

All was basically good, except the toilet was non-functional. I request the same room each visit, but this was the first time I encountered a problem. Staff was very quick to come and plunge, but the problem is much more significant. I will request the same room next time but only if they assure me the toilet has been fixed. WIFI/Internet on my first night was unstable but improved later. Some of this was probably not their problem. Overall I'll go back and hopefully the toilet will have been replaced or fixed.

Very overpriced for what it is. The location is convenient, but the condition of the room is bare minimum comfort. Being your own pillow, comforter, and flip flops for the bathroom. Bring melatonin or other sleeping pills to drown out the stupid people with no mufflers on their cars, blasting music in the parking lot until 11 pm - 12 am. If you just need a place to sleep and don’t care that much, yes, come to the Colton. The tv was nice!

The smell of skunk weed was overwhelming but after turning the air on and opening the door, the smell was less terrible. The door had clearly been kicked in at some point. The furniture, microwave, and fridge all has a ton of wear but for what it was, it was fine. We brought our own coffee pot, blow dryer, blankets, and towels. I suggest you do the same.

I've stayed there numerous times.. while on vacation. Great location and good price is why I keep coming back. Parking is a bit cramped if the lot is full. This particular room was nice sized, comfortable bed. Television required two remotes to work. TV available programming was awful. Very little to choose from. Bathroom.. commode water tank had the wrong cover.. about a one inch gap between the tank and the cover. Shower head is mounted too low, kept hitting my head on it. No tissues/wipes in the container. Tiny trash cans filled up fast with trash, started over running. Had to buy trash bags to put excess trash in. Housekeeping never emptied the trash, but did tell me where the dumpster was. Breakfast there... forget it! A tiny single pot is used. One type of powdered creamer, only sugar and Splenda available. You have a choice between a small Danish or honey bun.. sign saying one per person! Absolutely ridiculous! I've stayed there numerous times.. while on vacation. Great location and good price is why I keep coming back. Parking is a bit cramped if the lot is full. This particular room was nice sized, comfortable bed. Television required two remotes to work. TV available programming was awful. Very little to choose from. Bathroom.. commode water tank had the wrong cover.. about a one inch gap between the tank and the cover. Shower head is mounted too low, kept hitting my head on it. No tissues/wipes in the container. Tiny trash cans filled up fast with trash, started over running. Had to buy trash bags to put excess trash in. Housekeeping never emptied the trash, but did tell me where the dumpster was. Breakfast there... forget it! A tiny single pot is used. One type of powdered creamer, only sugar and Splenda available. You have a choice between a small Danish or honey bun.. sign saying one per person! Absolutely ridiculous! If I go back to Gettysburg again, it might be worth paying a little extra for a better setup and condition.

Front desk person wasn’t at desk, we had to call to let her know there were 3 people waiting to check in. So called breakfast wasn’t ready. AC was loud, Beds were okay but there was plastic under the sheets so made us sweat 😓 Bathroom clean, shower 🚿 worked. I guess it wasn’t terrible for the great price of $109 tax included.

Great location within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. Room was very clean and the bed comfortable. I did request an additional pillow since the ones provided were somewhat flat, and puffy pillow was promptly provided by the office. Would definitely stay again.

When I checked in on a Monday to stay 4 nights at the Colton Motel in Gettysburg October 2025. I asked if I could stay and pay for the 5th night. She said as of right now they are booked up for that night. she said there might be one cancellation in the next day or two?. if there is I would get first dibs. Well there was a cancellation and I got to stay another night. The staff went out of there way to accommodate me. The room was very clean & user friendly. There was 3 very good sitdown or carryout restaurants and many attractions all within a block of the Motel, an easy walk. The next time I come to Gettysburg I will be staying at the Colton Motel.

The staff was very friendly and efficient with a quick and easy check-in. I have read many of the reviews. For the people complaining, I am uncertain what guests were expecting for such a reasonable rate right in the middle of the historical area. The accommodations were nice with a comfortable bed, nice shower, working refrigerator, simple breakfast, and nice TV. The pool was relaxing and the area was quiet enough for a good night's rest. We were able to take a nice walk to get into the center of town to enjoy history, food, and shopping. For a family on a budget, this place worked out just fine.

First this is not the Hotel we booked nor the type of room. Manager of the original booking hotel sent us down the street to there other property. Upon arrival we saw that we did not have a room with a queen bed like we had booked.(2 full beds). The room smelled of something other than cleaning products. Went to use the sink and the faucet was very loose. Went to use the shower and that faucet was loose also. The toilet was not bolted down. Mold in the corners of the shower. Their was a lot of dust on ledges, tops of door moldings, pictures, mirrors and top of heat register. Mirrors looked like they used a dirty rag to clean. Lamp shades were busted. beds and pillows were not comfortable. Furniture was worn and scratched. Front window was dirty and lacked a screen. Very dated decor. No microwave in room. Parking lights visible but not working at night. After taking off my shoes my white socks tuned black from the dirty floor. Went on line and found the room they put us in was $13.00 a night cheaper than our original booking. The manager still charged us full booking price I checked Hotels.com and found that the room we originally booked was still showing as available.. We feel that this was a classic bate and switch.

This is value for the money. Older? Yes. A bit rough around the edges? Yes. But location here is great, within walking distance along the main drag. Fancy? Certainly not but the rooms were clean, the water hot when needed, the AC was perfect, the pool was clean as well. The staff, top marks for working with what they have. And that by no means is meant as an insult. Book a room at this old school motel, save some dollars, enjoy your stay.

The Colton is a good place to stay if you are willing to sacrifice amenities for low rates.There is no breakfast other than packages pastries, no in room coffee. The outside appears run down, but the inside of my room appeared to be maintained as well as can be expected. The bathroom was clean, but there were stains on the carpet. Some guests sat outside at night and were noisy past midnight. The AC in my room worked well and there was a small refrigerator. It was a two night stay by myself and it suited my needs. I would consider somewhere else for a longer stay or with someone.

The hotel was right in the middle of town. It was ok not great. But for one night just to sleep it was fine. But there wasn't any water or soda machines on the property.

I was visiting for a work function about 20 minutes away and ended up getting in like midnight instead of 8 pm due to delays and traffic. The Coltob staff made sure I could get in the room and that was such a relief after a long day of headaches...the room is basic, but functional. The breakfast pastry and coffee were a nice perk. This is just minutes from Gettysburg and in the downtown area with shops and restaurants.

The pool had clean water and was refreshing. Our room was acceptable. We realized that our bathroom window(ground floor and big enough for a person to get through) had no working latch and was open slightly. Too late to report for office to be open. However, reported in am. Outside of it, lots of cigarette butts and little snippets of trash on ground. Not a clean environment. Provided some packaged muffins and good coffee in am. Felt safe here and walked to Crepe Cottage for breakfast.

But there are holes in the walls, the front door didn't close right, and the toilet didn't work well. The bathroom wasn't swept up either. The "breakfast" was ONE only, your choice of a prepackaged muffin or honey bun.

I thought Colton was a great spot. I think the only amenity that was challenging was the wi-fi connectivity, which was not very strong, and some of the plugs did not connect well. The table with an outlet did not work. The plug on one of the lamps, although it did work, was loose, so connecting my smartphone was on and off. I ended up using the plug on the wall, which was nice and tight. I only mention this because I work when I travel, so a good wifi connection is important to me. Other than that, our stay was lovely.
