Super 8 by Wyndham Beresford

Hotel is in terrible condition. Leaky stool and sink. Carpet torn. Entrance is really bad and not taken care of. Swim pool boarded up. Weeds everywhere. Lawn not mowed. Clerk at desk very nice. Continental breakfast so sad. Scary to even sit in lobby. Needs state inspection. Never stay there again. We were there for our mothers funeral.

Just passing through and decided to stay the night. Reviews are dark and negative. You get whatcha pd for. Unfortunately the pool is OOO however we weren't needed the pool this journey. Room is spacious, clean. They could leave hygiene items in room for use yet WE plan for the just in case and bring our needs, from home. Cute lil downtown area, small town feel. Nice homes about and they...the Locals appear to CARE for where they live ❤️

Convenient location for working in Beresford, SD while working in town for two weeks. Front desk staff were rarely available, they did not change sheets or bedding when cleaning my room just made the bed, replaced towels and emptied trash. I will note one day they skipped all together even though I only had them come clean every other day. The continental breakfast only included a waffle maker, two cereal brands, a few apples and a 1 gallon communal jug of milk (I did not partake). The rooms were clean enough, AC worked, and didn't have bugs and showered stayed hot. No pool or other amenities. Also, note that there is not an elevator if you are on the second floor. Interaction with staff was limited but they appeared friendly enough. In summary, this was a ok experience. Would I plan a vacation there?...no. If I was needing a stop on a long road trip... maybe... but may just try the motel across the street.

Do not stay at this property. It is not cared for. Pool is closed with toys in it. The meeting room looks like the family is living in it. The staff is rude. The room is the worst I have ever stayed in. Across the street is a motel. Owned by retired couple should have stayed there. Everyone in town even says the motel is better than this property. The staff at the hotel do not care about you or your stay.

Outside of motel was nasty. The back entrance was not secure and there was trash all over the ground. Key fob entry was not functioning at any of the entrances so doors were all unlocked. Room was clean, mattress was comfortable. Breakfast was not even an option. The cereal containers were empty.

It was convient for the area we needed to be but was a mess and service was not good, Our keys did not work when left and came back. Back door we came in was a bunch of garbage. Rug in room had a big hole in floor and TV was not set up for use. Juice machine for breakfast was not useable same as pop machine.

Disappointed in this choice of hotel. Should have known better. Isn’t a 1 star hotel, but not a 3 star either. No elevator, so that was inconvient. Beds were small, A/C didn’t work well.

Broken juice and ice machines. Soda machine not working. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Access to a drinking water source.

My only concern was that the back door on the first floor did not lock properly

Unfortunately this is the only Hotel available in this community. The Hotel is very outdated with old bicycles, recliners and trash around in the Halls. The room smelled extremely musty with filthy carpets (white socks turned black just walking on it) and the smart TV did not work with no internet even available. Run away! Travel another 15 minutes to Sioux Falls!

Beds were comfortable. Overflowing garbage cans by all doors. Noisy AC fan kept us awake on and off all night.

The property is in a small town with no other options. Rooms were dirty and locks broken. Because of low traffic in the area I would suspect rooms are not cleaned daily or maybe in a long time between stays. The entire building needs updating and refreshed. The only staff member appears to do it all, front desk and housekeeping. I would not suggest staying here if you have family in the area but stay in another town and commute 20 minutes.

My wife has numerous bites from bed bugs. We left a dead one on the sheet in one of the beds in the room. (I have a picture of it). Several things were “Out of Order”, There was no breakfast or anyone staffing the front office when we left in the morning. Will not stay in a Super 8 again. I would have demanded my money back, but I paid through Expedia? I will not use Expedia again, w/o some compensation or incentive for doing so.

Comforters were stained, carpet was dirty and grungy. People sitting outside the front entrance in chairs from the dining room. Registration not friendly.

Exterior sign not lit up should have been our first red flag. Able to check in quick but hotel in general needed some updates and TLC. Fixtures in bathroom had begun to rust that carried to towels and overall cleanliness seemed at a minimal standard. We light bulbs missing from fixtures. Beds were comfortable and slept well until morning when spotted a large bug that resembled a bed bug on comforter sheet Called from front desk (as no one present) who sounded surprised and noticed it was the same person from the night before came, immediately spraying around my bed but not my niece’s bed and swapped our rooms right away. Next room was slightly better but my niece noticed a bug running around in shower curtain seam and became uncomfortable. When talking to desk second time, staff became defensive and accusative. They came in and changed out shower curtain but said they would not move us or refund us any portion of our three night stay we booked. We left and found a different hotel in another town further away.

Stains/holes in bedspread, dishonest staff who double charged me, then refunded when I called my credit card company. Broken lock on room door, no housekeeping for 3 days of my 4 day stay (no towels, no toiletry items, no toilet paper, etc). Room was dirty, crumbs in microwave. The outside door to the hotel was not locked. Exposed waterpipes in bathroom. Dirty hallway/entryways. They stole my personal soap on the one day that they brought me new towels. Garbage was littered all around the outside of the property.

The gentleman that checked us in acted like we were taking up his time. He was unfriendly and short. When we got to our room, the carpet was dirty and looked as if they only vacuumed down the middle of the walkway. There was dirt and dust and whatever else around the edges of the room. I walked into the bathroom and the bottom of the toilet bowl was clean but really gross around the inner edge. The outer base of the toilet had pee dried on it as well. The beds were comfortable but the comforter sheet had stains. All in all I most likely will not be staying here again. I was not impressed for the price.

The guy that checked us in was an idiot told us our room was on the second floor asked again to make sure heard him right came down and questioned him to make sure we heard him right again fyi 115 is not on second floor. TV was hard to navigate had to hook it to a different internet bc super 8 doesn’t have internet for it to hook to and that’s the only way to watch tv. The hot tub in the room was dirty. I will never stay there again not usually one to write reviews but worse stay I have ever had anywhere

It’s a super 8, but pricey for that. Check in takes longer than average, typing in drivers license etc. room was near stairs, so could hear lobby talking. TV did not have basic cable stations, instead a large smart tv and free smart tv stations. Shower was ok. Free breakfast: juice did not work, no creamer for coffee, continental only, or just toast, cereal and waffles.

When my husband and I got there, the check in was quick and easy. We initially booked a 2 bed room because it was cheaper, but was offered a free upgrade to the suite since we only needed 1 bed.

Walked in to find out price of room for the night. Was $24 more than online. Booked online room in lobby while deskman was watching. I heard a ding on his computer notifying him of another room being booked. I asked if that was my booking. He said yes and continued to book me in. Only problem was, he was booking me into another room and charging me double. I didn't notice this till I got to the room and checked my account. I went back downstairs to check it because mistakes can be made. I was told to cancel the expedia reservation and keep his higher priced room. I was too wiped out to argue that late at night, so I waited till morning to hopefully find someone who cared. I didn't find anyone. Same guy from the night before said he would finally cancel his room and reimburse my charge. Did get it, but seemed like they were hoping I wouldn't notice.

Bedding was dirty with crusty, I’m guessing vomit. When showed manager he accused me of wiping my pizza on bed to get an upgrade. The crusties were brown. Pizza sauce is red. Very rude. Very gross

Our truck broke down on the freeway and was towed to Beresford. We asked if we could check in early and the manager said we could. We were able to check in at 12:30pm for a VERY small fee. This was extremely helpful as my husband had just had surgery and needed to rest. The staff was extremely helpful- they helped with our luggage and brought it to our room. I am extremely grateful for the kindness they gave to us. I HIGHLY recommend this property!

I had not checked out and house keeper at 7:30 went into my room when I went to lobby to get coffee and loaded my bag in car. Unfortunately, I left my phone and purse in room because I was just coming back to room. Bed was stripped and my belongings were not there. He did come when I said had not checked out. He put my purse behind pillow on clean bed. He had my phone. I am monitoring my accounts. Nothing was missing from purse, but why he had my phone? It was locked so could not get into phone. No tag to put in outside door knob. Lesson learned.

Front desk charged us twice for our stay. When we asked the manager to look into our issue he was terrible. Zero help.

To begin, there was no one at the desk. I had to call a number, per the sign by the phone, and it rang in the back office. The office door was open, and it was totally dark. No one was back there working. Sleeping, I'm sure. Taking an afternoon nap, I'm sure, but definitely not working. That attendant was also very unfriendly. Now, I acknowledge early check-in is not an entitlement. It is not a right. However, I travel a lot, and I have never been denied early check-in. I especially have never been told there was a $30 charge for early check-in. Unbelievable! Further, I had requested a king. I have no problem with two queens, and I have accepted that many times elsewhere. I just thought I would free up that double queen room for others. So, after getting a late lunch while I waited until the official check-in time, I go to check in and I'm told my room with a king is not ready yet. So, I was denied early check-in and come back only to be denied the room I requested. I was given the excuse of someone showing up late for work, but that's no excuse to a paying customer. I was also very disappointed there are no in-room coffee makers. It is annoying to me I have to go out the lobby and MAYBE be able to get some coffee. I say maybe because, believe it or not, well into the posted breakfast hours, at 7am, the coffee bullet was empty and there was NO ONE attending to business there. Moving forward, I will sleep in a ditch before I stay at another Super 8.

The overall condition of this hotel was good considering it is a very old building. The room was clean. The staff was very helpful in answering questions regarding the area. My only complaint would be that I booked a two night stay and when I left for my dad's funeral and came back my key card didn't work even though I left.A do not disturb sign on the doorknob.They still went in and cleaned the room. The gentleman at the counter when I got back was very nice about getting me.A new key card that worked. So obviously the words "Do Not Disturb", do not mean the same in another language. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay away from Sioux Falls, it's only a half hour drive. And the price was affordable.

Website said pet friendly but nowhere did it say they charge $20 per dog per night. Ended up costing us another $120. Desk clerk insisted it was all over the website but couldn’t find it. No problems at all with the stay, clean rooms, decent breakfast, friendly staff- but they really need to let people know there’s a pet charge per night per pet.

Room was pretty good. Breakfast was very slim. Juice machine didn't work. No water or drinks, other than coffee. Waffle machine worked. There were some apples. Half full gallon jug of milk for the cereal.
