Comfort Inn Edinburg South

To start, check in was at 3pm and when we got there there wasn’t a room ready. So we had to wait. The pool had about 467 people in it so we couldn’t use that, which was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. The room was a suite and wow it was filthy. The bathroom still had hair in the shower and the toilet and sink were still dirty. The worst part was the cockroaches we woke up to at midnight. They were everywhere, they had an infestation. We had to checkout! I give this place as low of a rating as I can. It’s a shame that a manager and owner of this hotel would let their property get this bad.

Again another property that did not match pictures online. It was very old and dirty …not kept up or renovated in a very long time…the AC in the room was old and noisy. The pillows were comfortable and the bed was comfortable. The elevator was broken. …drive the extra 12 minutes and go to a newer one for the same price. I regret not doing that.

A couple roaches surprised us and the hot tub was pretty dirty, but the pool was nice.

The front desk guy was nice and tried to help. Sadly, all three rooms we were shown smelled of mold. One room had a dehumidifier that’s how bad the smell was. Bed sheets had brown stains and pool was slimy and green and hadn’t been cleaned. We didn’t stay we left within an hour and went to another hotel. They refused to give us our refund. Don’t stay here!

Friendly staff. Clean and fresh smelling room. Good breakfast choices. Parking is a bit lacking if you come in late.

Service at the front desk was terrible, the guy didn't know much. They advertised a pool, and it wasn't in service, still the rate was as if they did have it. In the room the carpet was stained with a brownish color, the bathtub had mold and smelled. If there's something good worth mentioning, it is the breakfast is above average for the hotel type. I reported this to Expedia right the way and they gave me a gift card for staying in another hotel.

Very clean and continental breakfast was very good.

I always stay at this hotel when I come visit family. It is at a good price point and normally very clean. Staff is always very nice and attentive. Bed was very clean, bathroom was clean. The pillows were not as comfortable as in my previous stays and the carpet was very, very dirty. I’m sure a good shampooing and steaming would take care of it. The room smelled musty, moldy! I will stay here again, I do believe they will correct these things.

There were two rolled up band aids on the jet tub. Obviously wasn’t cleaned properly prior to check in. When told the receptionist all she said was “Oh sorry”

Had cockroaches all over the room

The bed was comfortable. The room was quiet. I slept so well. The shower was hot and I loved the shower head. Breakfast is what you would expect from a continental breakfast. Easy and accessible from the road. The staff was super nice, friendly, and helpful. Id stay again.

Wifi signal in my room is very weak, don't know if its just the location of my room or all the rooms.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Could use a new set of drapes they were torn. The staff was very kind.

Specifically asked for a room away from the elevators, and was given a room right next to them. Had to go back down and ask for a room away from the elevators. AC in the room would not control humidity, room was damp all night and not real cool. Breakfast was lacking, not a very good selection. Price on Expedia showed to be $51 a night, final price was almost $100 a night instead. Probably will not stay here again.

Slow check in due to the number of people checking in. Only complaint is front desk said room ready in 20-25 min and they would call me when ready. No call received at 1.5 hrs got back to property and there was still confusion on what room we had or who had checked us in when it was the same 2 guys. After that zero issues or complaints.

I would rate this a negative star if I would. Manager can never be contacted. Asked for corporate number and no one could provide that. The curtains at the hotel have holes in them. When I got there I booked a king bedroom and the ac wasn’t working. they sent maintenance in and he assured me it would start working again. So I unpacked everything (I had a lot of things and places to go) the room got hotter. I called again and they brought me a small room fan. At this point I called again and they sent me to a different room not even the same room type. It was two queens. I had to pack everything again. Be careful when you come to this hotel. I wouldn' recommend it. And after all those red flags because I’m a very humble person I work retail and understand things happen I still stayed. I am traveling to that area and having to stay in hotels now and this was my hotel of choice because it’s close to all my stores. And it is also my home town where I grew up. I decided to stay the weekend and use my personal card to celebrate my birthday and when I booked the rooms I accidentally booked one extra night. The front desk person said that there’s nothing we can do and that he’s worked there for a long time and no one gets their refund. Which is so unfortunate. I went through Expedia to see if they can help and they were so nice and helpful they tried reaching out to the manager and ended up declining the refund. I didn’t even stay that night so it went to waste. I’m so disappointed….

I only had one issue with housekeeping, but other than that, it was a great place to stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast had several items to choose from. Quite. Very clean and welcoming. Yes, i would stay here agian.

Guy doing the check-in was either too new or just has a really bad attitude.

The breakfast was alright- service front desk sucked - did not have any toiletries.

Front desk was very knowledgeable of places to eat based on our wants and guided us through a few different options. 10/10 would go again

Very impressed with your facility, I will likely stay at Comfort Inn's more often when traveling. Nothing to facility has any control over, but that used car lot south of the hotel is a real dump.

Room was clean, however toilet had clogged up after first usage, but they sent someone up right away to fix it. Breakfast was decent, however it was always coldeeven after fresh tray was placed out.

I only had one issue with housekeeping, but other than that, it was a great place to stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast had several items to choose from. Quite. Very clean and welcoming. Yes, i would stay here agian.

Rooms can always be counted upon to be clean and have fresh clean linens. Breakfast is also better than competitors. This room in particular had only two functional plugs which was terribly frustrating.

The staff was excellent. Small inconveniences include: no stopper for the big garden tub and a scorched iron that was easily replaced. Big inconvenience was filthy carpet in the room and a questionably sanitary sofa. (room 218) When we arrived and took off our shoes, our formerly clean feet turned brown and dirty after walking barefoot in the room. We switched to wearing our shoes or socks for the rest of the stay. It really was pretty dirty. The breakfast wasn't as good as it has been in the past. There were no meat offerings at 0700 on Saturday Sept 9, 2003 and the oatmeal as watery as water. Also, we overheard a conversation between another guest and the desk clerk. When they entered the room they were assigned to, another family was already in there and were sleeping. Everyone was surprised and frightened. We plan to stay elsewhere the next time we are in Edinburg.
