The hotel notified me that they were having elevator problems. I didn’t get the message since I was traveling. Upon arrival, staff was very apologetic, and efficient in getting me the best accommodation on the first floor. That was most appreciated and they also secured parking for me at their cost because of the inconvenience.

Decently priced hotel very close to the Riverwalk and Alamo. Comfortable room with good shower and cold AC. Elevator wasn’t working but was fixed by the next morning. Parking garage was next to the hotel. Would stay there again because the price was good for the location.

We have stayed before and it is a great historic building. Bed was comfortable and the room was great. Just a block away from the river walk. They do charge $26 for parking, which is high.

O'Brien was a cozy and affordable stay. It's historic feel is definitely preserved there. Staff was kind. Very convenient walk from the riverwalk and Alamo. Though there's no pool or other special amenities I would definitely recommend if you're planning on being out most of the day/night anyway.

The whole hotel needs updating , the room smelled like mold , the bed was hard as a rock .. places in the floor felt like they would give away and fall through any minute. It’s not worth the 120.09 a night to stay at . Plus you get charged 25.00 to park ..

It’s listed as a “boutique hotel” but there are no frills. There is no pool. There is no breakfast since Covid. The TV was a Roku and only had some free streaming Chanel’s. The room had a mini fridge and microwave. The WiFi worked. It was clean. It looked ok. The best part was it was about two short city blocks to the riverwalk and the parking was a third of what the other area hotels charged.

Such a beautiful and cozy hotel. Totally got the historic vibe from our stay, the 3rd floor common area was gorgeous! Great location within 5 mins walking distance to all the fun activities near the Riverwalk. Amazing food options all so nearby. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Only downside is that free parking is not included with reservation and costs about $23/day but other than that a great stay!

The stay was overall good. I’d say the parking was terrible. We parked across the street for less. I would think parking would be discounted. The common areas were very hot. We couldn’t enjoy the common area for sure. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. I wish the rooms had better lighting.

This place was ok but what is very off putting is the list of prices of things should you damage or even get makeup on them. For starters the towels have been around as long as the hotel it would seem i assume this is because no one wants to get charged for using them. The place wasnt that clean to be fair new white socks on there carpet came out dirty. This type of thing just puts people on edge i didnt enjoy the hotel at all and would not return

The room we stayed in was second floor on street side and it was too noisy. But the bathroom looked like it was just wiped down and not cleaned. There were dirty sheets and the walk in tub tile looked filthy

The elevator was working, so that was good. It was a few minutes walk from the Riverwalk. Covered parking garage, with in and out privileges, was next door to the hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel had a mildew smell. I believe it contributed to my sore throat the next morning. The shared balcony was a nice place to relax.

Pillows were stained and dirty. Water pressure was nonexistent as well as hot water. The floor left your feet black from dirt. Parking was a nightmare due to the hotel crowding as many paid parking spaces in a tiny space behind the hotel.

Unfortunately we booked this hotel for two nights. Homeless people just outside the hotel, and smell once you enter the hotel is in the entire hotel. Smells old and mouldy. The room vas dirty and filthy. But after a complaint, they moved us to another room with balconies. The view was awesome, straight at the backside and parking. But that room was actually cleaner and didn’t smell as much as the previous. The parking is in a public parking garage and cost 25$ a night. The pictures on hotels.com is so far from reality. The hotel could be nice, but that is equivalent to renovating the whole hotel. But if you don’t care too much, it’s central and cheap.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself had a musty smell to it. Since we had a balcony room, we could open the door and had fresh air until retiring for the night. We didn't ask for another room since we were only there for two nights and gone most of the day. It is an old historic hotel, trying to do their best. More thorough cleaning could be accomplished by just taking a duster to pictures, bed frames, and lamps. A stronger vacuum on old carpeting might help also. The bed was comfortable. We didn't accommodate ourselves to the breakfast offered, because there are too many other options locally with better options, one of those being La Villita Cafe, just a 4 minute walk away! The location is excellent as we could walk to the Alamo and River Walk. So for the price we paid, it was satisfactory but not what we expected. You can do a lot with pictures.

The room was in poor repair. Water stains. Stuff on the wall. The carpet needs to be shampooed it is stained and just looks dirty. The door did not stay locked. Furniture is dilapidated. The air conditioner needs cleaning. The overall appearance of the hotel needs to be revamped. And not being able to pull in to enter the hotel is inconvenient on a busy road. My niece found a wad of hair on the bed. I slept in my clothes and so did she. This was such a disappointing trip as far as the accommodations. Positives: the evening desk person was extremely friendly and informative. The house keeper came immediately when we reported the AC not coming on.

This was probably the worst horel stay. The best was horrible, the balcony shown all the light possible due to the internal window blinds not blocking the light. The noise outside made it hard to sleep.

Small but cute boutique hotel in downtown San Antonio. Staff was amazing from the start. Rooms are small and quaint but comfortable. It's a no frills historic hotel but that is definitely not a negative. The only complaint I have is that the ac wall unit illuminates more light than I care for at night.

Online, the room appeared bright, modern, and spacious with updated furnishings. In reality, it was much smaller, darker, and had older, worn furniture. I liked the historic feel. Your website showed the balcony over looking the Riverwalk. Very deceptive. That was the main reason we booked with you. Are balcony over looked a parking lot. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom causing the whole room to feel humid and sticky. The AC worked great. Robert was great.

I always have a fantastic day at this hotel. It’s a small hotel so you don’t have to walk very far. It’s quiet it’s clean. The staff is always very kind. Sarah that works at the front desk was beyond helpful. She gave me everything I needed. Give me some good tips on places to eat and was very kind.

I’m from houston and I had booked a night with O’Biien Historic Hotel. 45 minutes away they call me to tell me the room I had booked had a problem and that they would refund me my money back. So I did have nowhere to stay and I had to drive back to Houston. I have never had this happen to me. I wouldn’t never want someone to have to go through this. 👎👎👎👎👎

We made reservations at the hotel in June of last year and were receiving emails from the hotel and Expedia leading up to our trip. We got to the hotel and were informed rudely by the receptionist that they were booked up and we had no reservation with them. Come to find out after looking at Google reviews that the hotel frequently cancels 3rd party reservations. My SO and self believe that the hotel gave our room away 1. Because it was booked through a third party and 2. We arrived around 10 pm. There was no information about having to call the hotel if you were a late check in. We have never had this issue with booking a room with Expedia before. We had to find other accomodations late at night for a 3 day stay. While we were dealing with trying to find a room and why the receptionist was of no help, we noticed that a lot of the traffic liked to rev their engines loudly and speed by after being at the intersection. This is probably a noise issue if you stay at the property. TLDR; DO NOT book this property through Expedia. The hotel will give your room away and leave you stranded.

I booked a room with a balcony and the desk clerk gave our room to another guest. They put us in a standard room and we were told we would get a refund. No refund. The manager Valerie shook my hand and confirmed about the refund but it never happened.

Great easy check in. Parking is right next door. This place was quaint and quiet. Walking distance to the Alamo and the river walk. Balcony was nice to hang out on. Comfortable bed slept great. Had a fridge that was handy for Coke and water. The AC unit was great and quiet.

We had a very pleasant stay! The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. While the building has an older charm, the rooms were clean, tidy, and well-maintained. The location is fantastic—close to many great restaurants and attractions. Although breakfast isn’t offered, it wasn’t a problem for us given the variety of nearby options. Parking was conveniently located and reasonably priced, just something to keep in mind when planning your stay. A big thank you to the staff for their excellent hospitality!

I'll preface this by saying the hotel and location are not terrible, however there are some things to note. 1. BE AWARE I booked a king room with a balcony abd when I arrived it was an ADA room with two double beds and a VERY bad shower. I spoke to the front desk and sent 4 messages and no one has contacted me. I was more frustrated because this wasn't communicated. I was told it "automatically" did this in the system? I get things happen but how was I never notified of the change? Front desk lady (who was sweet but seemed inexperienced) said she'd "speak to the manager". Im well aware that's a tactic to appease a customer and not actually find a solution. Our second day here there was a lady going down for the sane issue, so Id call to confirm your booking, even then Id be prepared for "automatic" changes. 2. The water on the second floor takes 6-7 minutes to heat up and when it does it's barely above lukewarm. 3. You have to pay nearly $30 a NIGHT for parking in the garage. I get it, it's San Antonio, but this blindsides you unless you read the small print. Altogether the stay was sufficient but we will not be returning. I know the price point is attractive but there are other hotels in that price range with better amenities and customer service. Im interested to see if a manager or customer service actually reaches out to me. As of 7-28-25 I've had no response and I will update this if they do.

Nice little hotel with a homey vibe only a few steps away from the san antonio riverwalk. nice patios on back side of hotel (pay a little extra) and nice common areas. Park in covered, guarded parking structure right next door for $20/night.

The location is perfect. Half a block from the Riverwalk and close to everything. We always stay here. We park our car and walk the whole weekend. The car moves again when we head back home. We will always stay here.

We drove 16 hours and arrived early morning in San Antonio. Our check-in wasn't until 3:00 p.m. we were really exhausted and wanted to check and see if we could check in early. Robert was quite helpful and allowed us to get in early so that we could get some rest before our next appointment. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and just plain awesome. We would recommend this to anyone who asks us a place to stay in San Antonio. Let's not forget the breakfast which was awesome!

Cozy and conveniently nestled right on the edge of the Riverwalk area. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the view of the balcony. Room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay there next time. Very affordable, especially for what you get. Wish they had better coffee and free water... no pool and no breakfast... they could at least give you a water.....

We thought there was a restaurant but there was no restaurant we traveled from out of state and they did not accommodate an 1/2 hour earlier check in at 2:30 good location to all the local spots parking lot across the street 7 dollars compared to there 20 dollar charge has fridge and microwave good toilet was wobbly old dated inside but comfortable for a nights sleep we were outside of elevator so heard other guests

The hotel desk was disorganized. An unexpected $50 deposit was required at check-in, even though I had paid in full.it should be refunded in 3 to 5 business days. Breakfast was 15 dollars not 10. The room was clean, but there was no hot water. I was told to turn both taps on in the sink and turn the shower to hot and wait... the front desk did bring plates and a bottle opener to the room upon request. They also provided a cart for our bags and helped us to get them in the car at checkout.

Fortunately I had a discount from Hotels.com or I would have thought it was overpriced. Said they were all out of coffee however I could come to the lobby and get some. They also did not mention the $20 a day parking fee until we were checking out. Great location, one block from the River Walk.

This is a boutique hotel. Don’t expect anything fancy. There’s no bar, no restaurant, no fancy water fountain in the lobby. This is a small, historic hotel with few rooms. I thought the mattresses could use an upgrade as well as the shower plumbing fixtures. If you’re room has a “city view” you can expect to hear the clip-clopping of horse hooves for most of the evening (horse-drawn carriages). It’s not a bad thing. Above all, I found the staff to be absolutely fantastic and very personable. Breakfast started at 7:30 in the morning, however, I needed something at 6 AM, since I was in town to run a marathon. They brought breakfast to me at 6 AM! They asked me how my race went. They knew who I was. Staying here was like staying at a friend’s place. Parking was available in a garage next door.

I gave this hotel a 3 because the room we were in was on par with your Motel 6/Super 8 hotels. The service was top self, they had a fresh breakfast that ran us $20 for 2 adults and 2 kids that had fresh eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, bread, OJ, and milk, and parking was only $20 which is a bargain in today's economy. Everyone on staff was awesome and made my entire family feel welcome. We needed extra blankets, and within 5 minutes, we had them. Same with towels and toilet paper. The front desk workers were amazing and answered all our questions and took care of us every step of the way. As far as location goes, it was a 10 minute walk to the Riverwalk and 5-7 minutes from food and shopping, which is a huge plus. The room, however, was another story. The mattresses were hard as a rock, and it was obvious that whomever bought them went the low-cost route. The shower fixtures, while nice, were installed poorly and sprayed outside the shower. The toilet had a shallow bowl that made it so that when you went to clean up, you almost always dipped at least a knuckle in the water. It's almost as if the room was an afterthought, which is a shame because this place could be everything else was really good. Overall, for the price point, the hotel is worth it if you are looking for a place with a great location and don't really mind where you sleep. If you want the comfy bed and not having to worry about anything room related, however, you may want to keep looking.

The room had a mini fridge and microwave. The WiFi worked. It was clean. It looked ok. The best part was it was about two short city blocks to the riverwalk and the parking was a third of what the other area hotels charged.

The young lady who checked us in was amazing! So incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel has a wonderful vibe ... definitely aligned with the San Antonio feel. The hotel is located at the edge of downtown providing quick and easy access to the river walk AND easy in/out access for arrival and leaving. be aware that the hotel doesn't have a bar or restaurant ... but there are one or two of those nearby!

Arrived given 1 room and then went to park my car , came back inside given another room because of toilet issues. The second room had al leak around toilet. Then went were given the 3 room. We’re were unable to even shower there was no hot water. Horrible experience. Would never stay there again!!!!!!

The best thing about this hotel is the location; near the Riverwalk! Otherwise, the air seemed stale and we immediately were congested within 2 hours of being there. The front desk is available on demand with a buzzer for them to come to the front. No parking onsite at $30 a day next door ( not bad). Food and water in vending machine. It’s suppose to be a historical hotel but I didn’t see anything special about it including the decor. The toilet ran; I fixed it because housekeeping is every 3 days👎

Though hotel was nice, their reservation procedure, I guess I'd call it, was lacking. I had booked a room with two beds, got a room with one. And it took nearly half and hour just to sort it out. Also, door to balcony was not seated correctly, that it had gaps in it. Aside from that, everything was ok.
