Comfort Inn Monticello

DO NOT STAY HERE. (SORRY so Long, But PLEASE READ.) Do not waste your $ on this hotel. We travel, almost every weekend, with our daughter’s softball team and we have NEVER had this bad of an experience with a hotel. The pool was closed, the rooms were nasty, there was NO Breakfast available. (No milk, bread, or anything hot). When we went to take a shower that was NO HOT WATER and the faucet in the shower almost fell out of the wall when we turned the water on. When we checked in, I was told that the pool would be Open till 10pm. When we went to get in the pool it was locked. I asked the front desk they said, "there is mud in the pool, So its closed." Then another parent asked about the pool, and they were told something completely different. They were told it was closed due to a New VA Law that requires all pools to be closed after Labor Day. Ok, weird! Never heard that one. When we booked our room (2 days b4 our check in date) I specifically called and made sure the pool would be open. Of course, the front desk staff said yes pool is open and stays open daily till 10pm. We asked to talk to a manager and were told that the manager doesn't take calls over the weekend. Staff said the pool info was a miscommunication. The fact that there was No Hot water or breakfast was unacceptable.

Both front desk employees were extremely nice, friendly, helpful. My first night when I returned to my room. I found a snake in my bathroom. The night time front desk was very helpful and compassionate towards the situation. She changed my room but I was still anxious for obvious reasons. I called the day of check out and spoke to the GM who was very dismissive and short with on the phone. She told me that there was nothing she could do and when I asked for corporate number she said she didn’t have it and they wouldn’t be able to assist either. I ended up not staying another night because my anxiety was triggered and I was unable to rest. The lack of care from the manager is unacceptable and I will be following up with corporate.

The room temp control was excellent. The window shade controls were non-functional. The light reduction shade was down, but the blackout shade would not come down. Breakfast was very good, although ran out of oranges and cereal. From rear entrance, would be helpful if there was a sign indicating what rooms are in each hallway. No info in room re: where fitness center was. Computer in dining room did not have an attached printer?

Room next to us had people smoking dope and the stench was chocking. Called the front desk to ask for a room change and was denied stating every room booked. Could have change room and cleaned our room since it was 1PM and check in is not till 4PM. Signs everywhere stating 100% smokeless facility. They should have removed those guests. Same room playing loud music etc until 11:49 PM
