Holiday Inn Express Stephens City by IHG

Didn’t like that ice machine was broken on 3rd floor, 2nd floor ice machine didn’t exist. Only working ice machine was on 1st floor.Telephone was not working until we changed wiring around. Only one coffee cup (should be at least 2) was in room. Housekeeping needs to pay more attention to detail.

pool was closed. breakfast had issues. out of items. room was nice and clean.

Deferred maintenance. Internet and TV not working.

Only issue was the pool was closed, which was not disclosed up front. Otherwise very pleased, breakfast was delicious, and would happily stay here again.

At check in we were told the pool was unavailable, and, according to another guest, it had been down for a few weeks. The room was very clean and comfortable! The A.C. worked well! Breakfast was average with bacon, 2 types of omelets, biscuits and sausage gravy, various muffins,and milk, juices, or coffee. However, the area where breakfast was served had no air conditioning because that unit was broken. At 6:30am the temperature was already low 70's.

Close to the I95, and good parking. Room needs to be deep cleaned. Carpet stains, bathtub stains,needs recaulking. Limited supply of bath towels, and no hand towels. Beds were sloppily made.

The building, rooms, and grounds are terribly maintained. We had a bucket under the A/C unit to catch condensation in our room. Surfaces and bedding were clean, but vents and corners were piled with dust and dirt. The handle in the shower was loose and ready to fall off. When we realized the body wash pump was empty, I asked the concierge to refill or give us something to wash with. Roberto explained that he couldn’t and it would be refilled the next day. Around the pool was littered with weeds and cigarette butts. The pool itself hadn’t been skimmed. We spent the first 30 minutes cleaning it before getting in. Once in the pool, we noticed a missing drain grate on the bottom of the pool. Large enough for a child’s foot to fit into. This was easily one of the worst experiences my family or I ever had traveling together. It is by far the most overpriced and underwhelming Holiday Inn experience. Many better options in the area we wished we had chosen.

Room was clean, parking was great, location wonderful. Staff pleasant. Room 204 bathroom needs a serious refresh.

Pool wasnt working and no A/C in the lobby while eating breakfast.

Morning break fast was excellent. On the other part room was stinky and bathroom was not soo clean.

Carpet filthy, floors in need of a bleachi g. Bathroom tub stained and ringed,mold and vent filthy. No cover on overhead bathroom light, dark fingerprints all over a/c unit.

Front desk agent was pleasant and helpful but there were black marks on the sheets, lights that didn’t work and a very sticky, visibly dirty bathroom floor. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express properties and this one didn’t come close to the standard set by the others.

There was urine on the floor in the bathroom along with both dead and alive bugs around the sink and in the bath tub. Room smelled like stagnant water and carpet was damp.

Staff was excellent and professional, and the rooms looked recently refreshed. The charging USB port outlets didn’t work, but I had an adapter. Our first room had had a pet in it, so we asked for a non-pet room and were switched promptly. One of our bed coverings in room 2 was dirty, so I would suggest to the management/housekeeping they take a closer look. The coverings are white and easy to see if they should be changed out for the next guest. The outdoor pool was lovely for the 99 degree day we were there, and my children enjoyed it. Breakfast was common for hotels. The entire staff was extremely friendly. The hotel was convenient for our 1-night stay near Front Royal.

Room was spotless and Roberto was very accommodating. No problems.

Comfortable and affordable stay - quiet, fast check in, friendly staff, decent breakfast, comfortable room and bed. Easy parking and conveniently right off the interstate. The bathrooms and tile floors could really use a deep cleaning though, and the doors were splintering and looking kind of beat up. Renovations seem a little older than other Holiday Inn Expresses, but overall a good stay with no problems

The rooms are dark, TV didn't work, the tub faucet was faulty and the matress was hard. The tub was very slipery. No mat or anything to prevent from slipping. Breakfast was less then desirable. We've stayed here before but its gone downhill a bit.

Some items were a little dingy (the vent in the bathroom in the room I was staying in), but breakfast was hot and good and staff were friendly. Walkable to fast food and across the street from a Dunkin and a Starbucks very close as well. Good stay at a reliable chain

Long hall walk to room only one ice machine and one first floor! Carpet was dirty and stained! You can hear everything out in hallway from the rooms and huge gaps at bottom of main door. Customer service was great pool area is nice bed was comfortable! Was a lot cobwebs in room ! Otherwise was a ok stay

Convinient location of a major interstate. Our room need a bathroom update bad . Fiew words could describe is" landlord spacial". When there is leak use more caulking. No large bath towels , just some mid size one\'s Room itslelf was good

Room was spacious and well equipped (frig, etc.). Seemed reasonably clean. Breakfast was great if you want heavier stuff like sausage, waffles and danish and meh if you want something healthier. Bananas were all over-ripe, for exampe. Location was good, near highway, near food options, near parks.

Needs updated. Sink clogged and toilet ran all night.

There are lots of other good hotels nearby - don’t waste your time here!! I arrived on a quiet Saturday afternoon a little after 2:00 to check in. The parking lot was virtually empty. I asked if I could check in early - the clerk said the check in time was 3:00 and that we would have to wait. I asked if really none of the 71 rooms there was ready for check-in - that I didn’t care what style it was. He repeated smugly that check in time was 3:00. We sat in the car until 3:00 and then walked back in. I got our room keys and drove the car around to the side entrance to unload our bags and help my wife into the hotel. When we got to the side entrance I discovered that the key reader had been disabled. There was a sign in the door stating that the side door was an exit only - and that the only access to the hotel was via the front door. I had to walk to the front of the hotel - around the pool - to get access. On the way past the desk I mentioned to the clerk that I didn’t think that disabling access to the side doors was a very good policy and that I would never be back. Another smart-alec hotel employee - maybe a male housekeeper - behind the counter said he thought that would be fine - that they didn’t need my business!! I asked the clerk when we checked out the following morning who the owners were and how to reach them. She refused to tell me, suggesting that I could just call the manager at the hotel’s listed number. I’ll never be back..

Booked reservation via expedia.com. Hotel charged me for the stay on top of Expedia. I was double billed. Cannot get resolution to solve this problem. Local hotel won’t answer/return phone calls. IHG corporate has been very helpful, but puts this off on the local hotel. I am disputing charges with my card issue.

I was supposed to pay for the rest of my stay when I arrived, and someone ran my card and checked me in hours before my arrival. When I did arrive I was told that I wasn’t on the arrivals list, then was found to be checked in. The lady at the desk made a key and went to check the room to make sure that they hadn’t accidentally put someone else in it. Came back to the desk, said it was empty and handed me the key. I had to ask her if she wanted to see my ID. She glanced at it and was good. I travel a lot, this was highly unusual. I didn’t sign anything, she didn’t put my ID info in the system. They may want to step up their training.

Deadbolt on door was falling off. I left something in my room and was told it could be sent to me if found. The item was found but it stopped there. I was told it couldn’t be sent by the manager and I could pick it up.. which was not an option as I was traveling and not returning to the area. I’m a consistent traveler and this hotel has lost my business. I will be sure to tell others of my experience. This is unacceptable practice or excuse.

Inatentive front desk help when checking out

We prepaid through hotels.com. Hotel charged me $118 when we left and said they did that to everyone who checked out and I’d have to wait until mon. )2 days) to get credited They said they don’t deal with “third parties” and there was nothing they could do

The location is great, located between Winchester and Front Royal. The people that work there are the best! They helped me with carrying things and a few times with bringing my breakfast to the table since I am on crutches. I would like to especially thank Ericka, Elaina, Yolonnie, Janet, Rosie and Diego. Things that need to be fixed: the window shades in some rooms do not work, some of the phones you can't get a dial tone or the call the front desk, lights in the bathroom ceilings in some rooms do not work, some shower handles are very loose, some charging ports in the rooms don't work.

The property was very convenient for where we were going. The front desk staff were very helpful and polite. The only thing is I didn’t realize it was a dog friendly property else I would’ve asked for a different room.

Everything was ok but the coffee was the absolute worst!!! Same thing the last time I stayed there. Mixed coffee 1/2-1/2 water to be able to drink. Good taste but way too strong. And I like dark roast coffee. Also please bring back the waffle machine.
