Extended Stay America Suites - Norfolk - Virginia Beach

Positives -Staff was very friendly and accommodating -The room was very spacious and clean Negatives: -THE ODOR. The whole hotel had such a terrible odor. I bought stuff to make our living space smell better but there really wasn't anything that could be done to make it better for more than a few minutes. - For a suite with a kitchen, I expected it to be fully stocked. However, you have to go to the office and ask for everything. It was more aggravating than it was worth. I even had to ask for a hair dryer. I suppose items have been stolen so much they have had to do this but it made the stay less comfortable. I also had to put down a $100 security deposit I didn't know about until I got there. -One of the entrance glass doors had been broken and it looked like a black trash bag had been duct taped over the hole. This was very disconcerting. Overall, I would not stay here again due to the lack of convenience that normally come with this type of hotel. Furthermore, I couldn't get over the odor. I'm sorry for the unpleasant review but I work very hard to take my family on a short vacation and I wasn't able to relax when that was all I desired.

My vehicle get broken into and I get rob

Was told by staff and guests on two occasions that I should park my car by the main lobby so it doesn’t get broken into. Upon check-in which the staff was great, my room was dirty. Full trash was left from previous guest. Bug in shower and no full size towels. The next day I saw multiple roaches and checked out early and had to get a room elsewhere for the remaining two days.

We did not end up staying here as they did not have a pool. It was still listed on Expedia, but the pool had been removed last year. They gave us a refund immediately when we got there and found out the pool was gone. It was a family vacation in the heat of July.

Over priced for what was given, dirty, and just mid. They charged money for wifi, didn't have room services, and again the hotel was dirty. The elevator was rancid. No one vacuumed the floors. The AC bearly worked. I could have looked pass all of the things I mentioned if it wasn't so expensive. I can't recommend this place.

My car window was smashed and car broken into along with 4 other cars . I was told this happens all the time!

Overall , the place is clean and friendly staff. Key who works the overnight shift is aweson.I did not like the area. The hotel did not have cameras outdoors and someone was lingering near my car taking pictures.

When I got to the hotel it took over a hour to check us in because it was only one person at the front desk and she had mad a mistake on four people rooms and had to straighten it out. Then the next day the tv in the room went out for a whole day the lady at the front desk said the power in the whole hotel was out she was waiting on the maintenance man to come fix it . And it be people waiting at the side door trying to get in the hotel that is dangerous.

I don't even know where to begin. When it comes to rating this place, it was absolutely horrid. Upon arriving there the lobby area where you check-in was extremely small and the staff could definitely use some pointers on customer service. The room was dirty, the hallways were dirty. The outside of the buildings was dirty and meanwhile, my vehicle was not parked there for more than 8 hours before someone broke into it and numerous Items were stolen from my vehicle, at this time I had to contact the police department which took them 25 mins to arrive. When the police arrived, they mentioned that this property gets burglarized almost every other day I questioned the staff about this and they lied right to my face, however, after speaking with the extremely unfriendly and rude manager who unbelievably was the General Manager) i mentioned to her that the police officer said that this happens all the time and she began to tell me that that had stopped after months of it going on. And it hasn't happened for a couple months, but that my vehicle was the second this week thats been broken into uhhhhhhhh...so hire some security on your property. What kind of establishment not only takes no responsibility for the safety of the occupants but she literally got defensive when I mentioned this to her. The building had a horrible smell and odor emitting from each floor without a doubt, there were people living there long term....she refused to refund me in full. #Ghettolife

Hallways smelled like weed. Guest sat outside the office smoking weed. Rooms were clean but without usual amenities. Had to get shampoo, hair dryer and silverware from front desk. Beds were comfortable. Employees were friendly and helpful.

Poorly maintained. Water damaged drywall in bathroom. Door ajar on oven. Filthy, wrinkled drapes. Gauges in closet door and walls. Food grime on microwave. No towels. Foam exposed in couch arms.

This was one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever been in. Everything was dirty, stained beds, bugs, food still left in the refrigerator. Hallway carpets looked like they had not been vacuumed in days.

The room smelled horrible for one. There are roaches in the room as well. I go there well after 3 PM and the room wasn’t ready. The hallways smell of cigarette smoke and feel humid like. The room felt so dirty and humid with cold air blowing. Not even sure how that’s possible. Never will I stay at this location again.

I have stayed at a lot of hotels, some sketchy, some run down, some noisy. I have never left one without sleeping there until last night. The room smelled, the couch in the room has so many stains on it from who knows what. There was a dead roach on the floor and black specs of debris on the bed. The counter wasn't wiped down and there were stray hairs on the blankets and sheets as well as stuck to the wall. There were scuffs and stains all over the walls and it was completely run down. The staff was nice and accommodating after my half hour stay but this place sucked. Someone please put that couch out of its misery.

It was a good location with a WAWA and McDonald’s nearby. There was plenty of room and I didn’t have any problem finding a parking space. There is a full kitchen which is great. Checkout is a quick call to the front desk and leave the keys in the room.

Hole in the wall in my room. Was listed as non-smoking room, stunk of weed inside and around the room and building. AC in the room did not work. Water preasure and temperature inconsistent in the shower. The staff was exceptional.

This was a horrible stay for me. When I went to go into my room I heard someone talking and thought there was a mixup. I closed the door and knocked. No one answered so I went in. The talking was in the room next to mine. The walls were paper thin. They were up till 1am and being very noisy. They also had a crying baby up all night. Outside my room there was a picnic area. There were about 30 people outside hooting and hollering until 1 despite the noise curfew. I left and drove 2 hours home and will not be back.

Trash all over the place. Oven door wouldn't shut all the way so cooking was almost not an option, roaches, A/C needs updated. I stayed cooler by leaving a window open while running the A/C rather than closing the window. No matter how low i set it. I ended up still got in the middle of the night. The room door would slam shut very loud due to closing mechanism is wore out. And breakfast was oatmeal and muffins. So that was a joke. Not worth the money at all.

The check in person was on the phone - a personal call - the entire time we were checking in. Our (supposedly non-smoking room) room smelled of smoking so we went back to get another. No check in person in sight. Finally arriving and still talking on a personal call, she gave us another room. That room did not smell of smoke but definitely smelled funky. Then a large bug crawls across the floor. In the meantime, we can see the TV (which is bolted to the piece of furniture it's on) is blocking one entire side of the bed. We left.

Big room. Kitchen. I'd go back

Room needed up grades. Shower rods was rusty. Base boards in bathroom looked old and molded. Just needs some up grades.

Nice size room w kitchenette

Great staff, clean rooms. It definitely helped us out when we had to move hotel to hotel.

Upon arrival, they informed me that my room was given to someone else and not available. I was travelling from MA to VA. My check in date was 7/10 and I arrived 7/12. I had to find another hotel.

Upon our arrival at the hotel, we were disappointed by the service at the front desk. The staff member who received us did not have a welcoming or helpful attitude. When we entered our two rooms, we found that the pull-out sofas were in very poor condition. The one in room 109, in particular, was extremely small, with loose springs that made it impossible to sit on, let alone sleep on. Despite raising our concerns, the staff did not offer any assistance or solutions. On the night of July 4th, we requested again to have the sofa replaced or repaired, but nothing was done. Instead, we were told that if we wanted to check out early, we would be refunded for any unused nights. As a result, we decided to check out today, Saturday, July 5th. I am therefore requesting a refund for the night of July 5th, which we will not be using. Additionally, I would like to request further compensation for the many inconveniences we experienced during our stay. The overall condition of the hotel was unacceptable: • The hallway carpets were extremely dirty. • There were no extra sheets available, and we had to request them. • We were a group of eight (four people per room), yet only four towels were provided in total. We had to purchase additional towels ourselves from Walmart. These issues significantly impacted the quality of our stay. I hope the hotel will take this matter seriously and respond promptly with the appropriate refund and compensation.

The rooms were not stocked with anything and if you wanted to have coffee cups or coffee maker or anything besides 2 plastic cups you had to go to the lobby and pick it up yourself. The info pamphlet in the room stated that you could request kitchen items and they would be brought up but that was not the case. We had to go to the lobby to get extra bedding for the pullout couch but didn't receive an additional pillow. The hallways were dark and dingy and there was a consistent smell of marijuana throughout the property. The only positive was that there was a kitchen in the room with small apartment style appliances like a microwave, stove and fridge. However it would be difficult to use any of this without cookware or plates, cups, silverware etc. I would not recommend booking here.

The pictures are a lie, the location is beyond scary, it felt like I was back in the projects in NYC. I rented a room for a night checked in and upon going to the room I changed my mind and immediately left and went to another hotel.

We found infestation of cocktiaches therefore one person with pupy dog stayed in another place. All drawers were dirty. The place is 20 minutes driving to the beach which was not mentioned when i was looking for a place to stay. It was ok if only the person with the dog was able to stay but was not the case. I had an early morning surgery at Sentara hospital, this was the closest hotel. Rather than make a long, very early drive we decided to come the previous evening. It was convenient, but was not a good choice. Someone in the room above was pacing all night long and the floor sounded like a drum. We may have gotten an hours sleep.

The location was convenient but the building look door were jammed and the carpets dirty .

Never again. The young ladies at check-in were very nice, but other than that, I would never, ever return, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else going either. The hallways SMELLED SO BADLY of cigarette smoke, marijuana, animal urine, and who knows what else. The neighborhood and property itself also didn’t feel safe….The room itself wasn’t awful (otherwise I would not have stayed) but getting from my car to the room was just, ugh…..

Asked for linen to out on sofa bed. Did not receive a blanket. Check in was delayed by 30 minutes after waiting 20 minutes until 3pm. Free breakfast was small packaged muffins. Coffee was almost empty.

This location was filthy, smelled horribly, is in a very unsafe area of Virginia Beach and the “grab and go” breakfast is literally a granola bar. I booked and paid for 5 nights and our family could only bare staying for 2. From the stained too sheets,stained walls garbage filed in the hallway, ripped sofa, being told that they have a “linen shortage” so the 2 bath towels for 5 people was all I could get was an absolute disgrace.

When we got there we checked in and went to our room. Walked in and the room was dirty, no sheets on one bed, discovered roachs on the counter. Only 2 towels asked several time for more and the response was we are out. Informed breakfast was offer and all it was was oatmeal and muffin. All the common areas smelled like smoke and were dirty. Room service never came the whole time and were informed short staffed. Had to ask for pots, pans and a knife. The rooms advertised that it had all of that and had nothing. Asked for different room and were informed were booked. Would have gone to a different place but everywhere else sold out

I booked 2 bedrooms and we got 1 bed. No complimentary breakfast all they have is package muffins! Coffee taste bad!

I liked the double room 2 bedroom option and the way the rooms are oriented helped with not having noise from neighbors. I wasn't pleased with the breakfast options or the nighttime staff. She was nice, but I could not fully understand what she was saying and she did not go very far to make me feel welcome. She was on her cell phone just about every time I saw her.
