We stayed for one night in this lovely property while visiting Ypres. The property is full of relics from the war and includes a history trail around the grounds with trenches and information. Immediately behind the hotel however (and you can see people queueing on the slides) is a huge water park - This didnt cause any noise that I noticed but it is out of keeping with the memorial spirit of the hotel and the area. We happen to love a water park, so this was a bonus for us but may not be for others. Just a 5-10minute drive to the Menin-gate and Ypres and many surrounding points of interest. The property is old fashioned and quaint, we had a room with a balcony and a comfortable bed. The bathroom again is old fashioned but all in keeping with the style of the property (think shower curtain and individual bars of soap). I would absolutely recommend this for a place to stay when visiting Ypres. There is a very quiet and dated bar which served great Belgian beers and the breakfast was continental with the expected charcuterie, cereals, pastries etc (and Honey cake!). We enjoyed the experience. Not much for younger people to do here and I think you would be bored in the hotel for more than a night or two but perfect for visiting the local sights.

Would not stay here again. Scaffolding all around hotel. Bar was at hard dinning room chairs so same room for breakfast not very comfortable. Also to get to centre it’s 20 Euro each way in a taxi. We traveled in and out to Centre suppose to be 4 km, but we were 120 euro out of pocket. We had different taxi drivers each time and same cost 20 euro. Never again.

The Parking was on site. There is a Bar & Restaurant. We had an excellent evening meal. The Hotel is within easy drive to Wypres, the Menin gate also Passiondale and Tye Cott, also a Theme park very close. All in all this Hotel is really good. We would come again.

This was an amazing spot for when you have a vehicle to go and explore the area with. Quaint and quiet, very clean hotel. Easy access to Ypres. The staff were outstanding and friendly. A must stay place!

Séjour agréable mais regrettons que le restaurant soit fermé le week-end. Par ailleurs, le chauffage était beaucoup trop élevé la nuit avec aucune possibilité de le réduire, à part ouvrir la fenêtre ce qui en cette période d'économie d'énergie est regrettable.

We had booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children and were very lucky to be in a 2 bed apartment! It was exceptionally clean. Bed was probably the most comfortable I have slept in! Breakfast was very good also. No complaints at all, would definitely stay here again.

We had the studio for us and our two teenage boys. Was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. Wish we had time to stay longer. Will return if we are in the area again.

Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam ontvangen. Nette ruime kamer met goeie bedden en een heerlijke douch. Locatie is top voor de gene die met kinderen hier verblijven er is namelijk een aquapark en pretpark op loop afstand. Je overnacht op een historisch mooi plekje als je interesse hebt in de kids 1e wereld oorlog.

We’ve stayed here before and only chose this property again because of the lovely old room we stayed in. However, this time we were in the new build which was not even close to the last time we stayed. It was huge but had no soul no pictures no history. I think when booking this room it should be made clear that there is a possibility that you will be placed in the new build and not the castle. So disappointed. The breakfast was lovely but the toilets in the new build had brown water and smelled. I love the area and I will definitely be back but next time I’ll stay somewhere else. If I’d not stayed here before I wouldn’t have known what I was missing.

Previously wee have had a bedroom in the old building which is very atmospheric and enchanting. However, this time we were given a room in the newer annex which had inadequate lighting. Even with all of the ceiling and wall and table lamps lit, t was difficult to read from screens at any rime of day because the lights were not diffuse enough, more like localised spotlights.

If you like staying in a room that allows you to hear the bowel movements, coughing, snoring etc from people in other rooms then this is the hotel for you!! The decor is shabby not chic Floor boards creek and doors are constantly slamming Everything seemed to be an effort for the receptionist, no advise on what was available locally Don’t leave the windows open as midges get in

Vi fikk rom i det nye bygget. Til tross for at det var nytt skulle en tro at det var med lydisolert enn det var dessverre. Men rommet var fint ellers. Litt harde puter. Hotellet ligger på en nydlig plass og med mye historie rundt. Frokosten var helt ok.

Het hotel is schoon en de bediening erg vriendelijk. Goed uitgebreid ontbijt. Bedden waren goed. Het lag voor ons erg centraal voor het bekijken van het oorlogverleden van Ieper. WO I.

Goed ontbijt. Zeer vriendelijke mensen. Jammer dat in het weekend het restaurant gesloten is, maar in de omgeving zijn alternatieven (met de wagen).

We had the studio for us and our two teenage boys. Was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good. Wish we had time to stay longer. Will return if we are in the area again.

This was an amazing spot for when you have a vehicle to go and explore the area with. Quaint and quiet, very clean hotel. Easy access to Ypres. The staff were outstanding and friendly. A must stay place!

The hotel and staff are charming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast is full of food with many options. The dinner meal was outstanding. We loved our 2 day stay here. I would greatly recommend this hotel.

Quiet, clean, helpful & friendly staff. Great breakfast! Old building, but beautifully preserved. Felt like stepping back in time to a classy, traditional hotel. We would highly recommend!

We stayed for one night in this lovely property while visiting Ypres. The property is full of relics from the war and includes a history trail around the grounds with trenches and information. Immediately behind the hotel however (and you can see people queueing on the slides) is a huge water park - This didnt cause any noise that I noticed but it is out of keeping with the memorial spirit of the hotel and the area. We happen to love a water park, so this was a bonus for us but may not be for others. Just a 5-10minute drive to the Menin-gate and Ypres and many surrounding points of interest. The property is old fashioned and quaint, we had a room with a balcony and a comfortable bed. The bathroom again is old fashioned but all in keeping with the style of the property (think shower curtain and individual bars of soap). I would absolutely recommend this for a place to stay when visiting Ypres. There is a very quiet and dated bar which served great Belgian beers and the breakfast was continental with the expected charcuterie, cereals, pastries etc (and Honey cake!). We enjoyed the experience. Not much for younger people to do here and I think you would be bored in the hotel for more than a night or two but perfect for visiting the local sights.

Would not stay here again. Scaffolding all around hotel. Bar was at hard dinning room chairs so same room for breakfast not very comfortable. Also to get to centre it’s 20 Euro each way in a taxi. We traveled in and out to Centre suppose to be 4 km, but we were 120 euro out of pocket. We had different taxi drivers each time and same cost 20 euro. Never again.

The Parking was on site. There is a Bar & Restaurant. We had an excellent evening meal. The Hotel is within easy drive to Wypres, the Menin gate also Passiondale and Tye Cott, also a Theme park very close. All in all this Hotel is really good. We would come again.

Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam ontvangen. Nette ruime kamer met goeie bedden en een heerlijke douch. Locatie is top voor de gene die met kinderen hier verblijven er is namelijk een aquapark en pretpark op loop afstand. Je overnacht op een historisch mooi plekje als je interesse hebt in de kids 1e wereld oorlog.

Séjour agréable mais regrettons que le restaurant soit fermé le week-end. Par ailleurs, le chauffage était beaucoup trop élevé la nuit avec aucune possibilité de le réduire, à part ouvrir la fenêtre ce qui en cette période d'économie d'énergie est regrettable.

Loved this quirky, cute hotel just outside Ypres. Basic clean rooms, simple continental breakfast, helpful, welcoming staff. The grounds are a particular highlight, I loved the sheep and the ducks and my son enjoyed exploring the tranches. EV charging which didn’t require me to download and subscribe to yet another account was a plus too!

This is a beautiful hotel with lots of character. We stayed in the old part (a newer separate block has been added) in a deluxe room which was spacious and comfortable. Also fitted with air conditioning which was really appreciated in the heatwave. Dinner was also excellent... recommend the steak! An unexpected feature is the preserved WW1 trenches and bunkers in the grounds of the hotel with the associated history. The beautiful lake was in fact formed by the crater of a massive mine explosion that took out a German bunker. The location is fantastic, history all around and a short 5 minute drive into Ypres for more shops, restaurants, museums etc.
