I specifically booked this property so I could swim after a long working day, to discover pool was out of order. Had I known, I would have booked a different hotel. Very disappointing and Expedia should have noted it on the site. Convenient having a Dennys on the property and other stores close by but for price, other hotels for not much more, would have been a better option.

We booked at the Sandman in Cranbrook in order to have a swim after a long days driving. We were advised, after saying we were looking forward to a relaxing swim, that the pool was closed. We were not advised of this before we arrived. A couple of hours later, after a rest, I had to go to the front desk to find out how to work the tv remote. While there I said I was not happy about the pool situation and asked if we could have a reduction in our room rate. The very nice lady said as we had booked through Expedia, she could not refund, but would give us a voucher for $40 for the Denny’s restaurant adjoining the hotel. A word on the restaurant, filthy. Honestly, so dirty.

The interior from lobby up the stairs to the second floor is like the second half of Titanic (sloped sideways). It looks like some structural remediation is needed. In addition to that, we booked this hotel expecting to use the pool but the pool was out of order when we got there and no reimbursement was offered.

Pool definitely doesn’t look like the picture and was pretty dirty so we unfortunately couldn’t go in it which was disappointing since I picked this hotel because it had a pool. Wallpaper was peeling, carpet is stained. Sheets were fine and so were the shower so for the basics it’s ok but not worth the price we paid

We booked Sandman for the pool, it was advertised as having a pool. I got my kid excited to swim in the pool and then when we went down to go it, it was closed. You should advise that some amenities are unavailable at the time of booking.

There was blood on the sheets on the sofa bed. Also blood stains on some of the towels. The toilet kept running. Otherwise the room was clean. The pool is out of order. The second floor is dipped in so bad the doors do not want to close. There is approximately a 3 inch gap at the base of the door on 1 side. This hotel needs some serious work and upgrades.

The staff was nice, and she allowed me to check into my room early. However, the room was dirty. I’m glad I brought my own bed sheets and towels. The previous guest was a smoker, and the room smelled strongly of smoke when I walked in. Additionally, their empty pack of sleeping pills was still on the bedside table, and all the sheets and towels provided were smelly. I was also unhappy with the cleanliness of the toilet and shower.

Our room had a decent sized stain on the ceiling from the bathroom above leaking down. Our bathroom looked to have mold. Cigarette smoke smell bothered my kids and wife from trying to sleep, couldn’t leave the window open as it was large enough for the homeless to climb through. It was most evident from the bathroom, seemed to be coming in through the fan that was unable to turn off.

We arrived later in the evening after a 7 hour drive, checked in and went to the room. Every surface had juice stains and cup rings of grime and juice on counters and by the tv. Addressed this and the staff cleaned it with windex.. then opened the pull out couch bed , to a completely unmade bed - no big deal I started to shift around the bedding on this pull out bed and there was a pair of kids pajamas in between the sheets!! I called front desk and told them to look, pictures were taken from me and the check in girl. After this she apologized and stated she would request refund (still waiting for that) and because of the lack of availably elsewhere and the late time at night (now 10:00pm) we decided to request new bedding and just stay the night. Will never go back.

The bed was very comfortable and the extra seating area with couch was nice. Great water pressure with lots of hot water in the shower. Very convenient to have Dennys restaurant part of the hotel. Check in/out went quickly. Nice touch having a coffee/tea/water station with cookies in the lobby. Lots of free parking available. There is no elevator which is a drawback if you're on the upper floor. The bathroom area is a bit small and not alot of counter space. Overall a comfortable stay.

Excellent service at the front desk. The rooms were clean and tidy The hotel was very pet friendly as we were travelling with our dog they gave us a little bag with some dog treats and names of vets, etc.. Really great customer service.

The greeting at checking experience was horrible. It was the worst customer service I have encountered in a hotel. I believe it was the manager, but I do not think she was even happy to have customers at the hotel. A 180 change happened with our departure where the front desk employee was super friendly and with good customer service. The hotel seems old and our room smelled like cigarettes. Overall I would give this hotel a 4 out of 10.

We booked at the Sandman in Cranbrook in order to have a swim after a long days driving. We were advised, after saying we were looking forward to a relaxing swim, that the pool was closed. The bed was very comfortable and the extra seating area with couch was nice. Great water pressure with lots of hot water in the shower. Very convenient to have Dennys restaurant part of the hotel. Check in/out went quickly. Nice touch having a coffee/tea/water station with cookies in the lobby. Lots of free parking available. There is no elevator which is a drawback if you're on the upper floor. The bathroom area is a bit small and not alot of counter space. Overall a comfortable stay.

The room itself was lovely; comfy bed and lots of space. But the bathroom was just okay - the shower didn’t feel super clean, the toilet handle was broken and the sink had a leak. We told the front desk and they were very responsive so hopefully it got addressed and is better for the next guests in that room.

Beds were comfy. Room smelled musty. Had very thick carpet. Shower head leaked water and had been previously wrapped with electrical tape?! Made a hell of a mess when showering. Toilet also leaked every time it was flushed. Mentioned it at check out as we didn’t notice that there was a separate puddle since the shower was also leaking. Staff didn’t ask any questions or seem to care that it was an issue. Pool was shut down. So not able to use that. No mention of that when booking.

The hotel is in a good location along the main road. We were not happy as I booked this hotel because it had a pool and when we arrived we were notified that the pool was closed for maintenance.

The hotel is way outdated!!Was dirty..Air conditioning rattled so bad I had to change my room.Pool was down as usual in most hotels and are all advertised they have pools.Staff was helpful and changed and upgraded my room..Would never stay at this hotel again..
