Mia Reef Isla Mujeres - All Inclusive Resort

Property is a little run down,needs a coffee shop not a Starbucks being that it is a all inclusive, there is room for more seating around pool,alot of construction going on in alot of different areas on property at one time. Staff was amazing. Unhappy with as soon as you check in they try to lock you in on time share

The staff was very nice and helpful. The location is why we chose Mia and it did not disappoint! The beach is amazing! The pool is small and cold, plus the swim up bar and main bar for the entire resort was closed for renovations which was a little disappointing but they had a temporary bar set up. The room was clean and as expected, simple and a bit small but the oceanfront view was incredible. The food was similar to the last 2 all inclusive resorts we’ve been to… it’s just ok. Buffet is small and gets a little repetitive. They do have some good seafood options, the taco shack on the beach and the grilled to order shrimp on the buffet were all very good. Being so close to town it was an easy walk to go out to eat elsewhere when we wanted. We stayed here for the setting and it was worth it.

Inconvieniences.. - Timeshare staff constantly on the prowel, asking each one of our guests. - They categorize you by conor band, so that the timeshare staff will know who you booked with and how to approach you to try to set up an appointment/ sales meeting by offering "free" stuff. - Pool - Closed, - Beach - seasonal seaweed, unfortunately. - Bartenders need training. - basic drinks were not drinkable and or overly syrupy and or just cheap quality alcohol used. - Butffet food was pretty good.

We had an excellent time at the Mia Reef Isla Mujeres resort. The property is quite unique as it is located on its own little piece of the island, but it is really accessible by foot to the main town area as well. (You can walk from the ferry or take a quick taxi, its really that close!). The beach is not very big, BUT it is really easy to access the water; this is a great place for amateur snorkeling for all ages. We saw a lot of fish in the water. It is also very safe for non-swimmers and children because the water is very shallow around most of the beach area. Great for floaties too! The room was spacious and well equipped. The amenities were good. The only issue we faced was some drainage problem in the shower in our room, but it was nothing major. The food was very good and varied over our stay. The drinks were great too, with a wide variety. We would like to give a special shout out to the concierge, Arturo, for his kindness and attention to us. All of the bar and restaurant staff were absolutely exceptional as well; they were kind, attentive and fun to be around. Thank you all! We highly recommend this resort for young families and couples of all ages!

Beach and snorkeling was awesome - the pool not so good - need build infinity pool on middle of back side would make this resort best ever

Arrived and the room was not ready. We arrived hours after our check in time after a long day of travel so this was disappointing. The manager was very rude about the situation. The hotel had a lot of construction going on and the pool bar is closed. The rooms were clean but old. There is a constant sewage smell from the washrooms so we left the fans on and doors closed. The service at the hotel was okay. Very slow. Many people would just attend the bar themselves for a drink. The beach at the property is amazing.

Great location. Some seaweed but not horrible. Buffet better than sit down restaurants by far. Good drinks. Activities lacking. Great staff. Pool is small and very difficult entry and exit for mobility impaired people. Would return again.

The servers, bartenders, and service was excellent. Our first day the pool was green and murky (disgusting we did not want to swim). The rooms were clean and our fridge was stocked daily. The food at the buffet was average, I personally really enjoyed all the options. Our last night we made reservations for the restaurant and it was the worst experience. We waited over an hour for our food and only saw our waitress a couple times before we decided to leave, we were in there for over 2 hours with only getting our appetizers and finally after 2 hours getting our main dish (never received my salad), we never saw our waitress again to order any dessert. It was a bad experience and totally ruined our last night.

The food has gotten better, awesome staff Guillermo, Roberto and others helpful & very friendly. The beach has a beautiful view, private but it's sad that it's getting smaller. Construction was going on & it's to be expected since the hurricanes Our room had an exceptional view but it had no dresser. We've been coming here for the last 8 years over the holidays but this year was the most kids we've seen there by far. Dinner at the Italian restaurant, makes for a great date night the food is very good, dress code needs to be enforced (guests will get the assignment). The new Mexican restaurant food was not very good (shouldn't have dinner after dinner). Mia staff selling Mia CLub memberships, some were pushy, condesending, insisttant on only 90 minutes of our time and some did understand that we were Not interested. We've been coming here for the last 8 years over the holidays, we're not certain if we'll be back next year if we'll be at one of the new hotels on the island.

The waters are absolutely gorgeous. The best beaches on the island. The reef and swimming hole around the reef is gorgeous. There is no place like this on the entire island. The staff at check in were fabulous and try very hard to make you stay great. The property however is very dated. If you’re looking for a newer resort, this is not. But it’s again THE BEST beach on the island. The room is ok. There is a buffet that you can eat 3 meals a day and there’s a restaurant with very limited seating. You can not eat there your first night. So plan on the buffet. You have to stand in line for the restaurant between 3pm-5pm each day to get a reservation for the next day. You better be there at 3pm because by 4pm there are no reservations. The 1 à la la cart restaurant switches between Mexican and Italian food. The Mexican food was our favorite. The resort tries hard to make the evenings fun with karaoke and a little dance show. This is not a 5 star resort but it’s on the most beautiful, flat calm, crystal clear waters. The best in all of Mexico in my opinion.

The bird poop wasnt cleaned up, around the villas area. The seaweed wasnt cleaned up. The villas were old, shower leaked onto bathroom floor causing puddles and no vent in the bathroom. The balcony had bird poop all over it on the furniture and floor and was never cleaned up. They door on the balcony was very difficult to open. The villas were clean on the inside but very dated and poorly maintained. The reason I come back is because of the beach. The workers are wonderful and food is good.

Property not very clean. Stuff very friendly, helpful and always ready to serve. We were group of 14 people and they separated us from friends, rest of our group had villas and we were at the hotel. When we asked for change to get the villas they asked us to pay $100 per day. The next day it was $75. The food in the main buffet restaurant was good but the other restaurants so terrible it was impassible to eat, specialy Marias was very discusting

La propiedad tiene varias temas, uno es los pájaros que invadieron la propiedad. No me dejaron dormir todo el día y noche hacen muchísimo ruido y como son miles de parejos hacen de baño en todas parte y huele feo. Había muchísimo sargazo y no puede estar en las playas ni el mar. Lamentablemente no vi los empleos haciendo mucho para quitar todo el sargazo. El olor del hotel en todos partes es tan horrible. Fuimos corriendo del hotel para nunca volver. La comida estaba sorprendente bueno para un todo incluido de este nivel.

This hotel definitely did not live up to its 4.5-star rating online. From the moment we arrived, we noticed several concerning issues. The pool was extremely dirty, with tiles falling off and light fixtures around the area hanging out of the ceiling—posing a safety hazard. Our room wasn’t much better. The shower head had a large hole in it with just some white tape barely holding it together. The sink was stained and moldy, which was very off-putting and unsanitary. To make matters worse, the staff were consistently rude and unhelpful. Getting a drink at the bar felt like a chore for them, and we were often ignored. Even local taxi drivers commented that most guests leave Mia Reef unhappy—and unfortunately, we were no exception. I do not recommend staying here. This place was a huge disappointment. And they refused to give me a refund although I left my stay 5 days before I was supposed

We were constantly requesting for towels that never made it to our room. Both the shower and sink were clogged.

The property does not live up to the pictures online. It is a bit dated and not the cleanest. The pool was murky and had loads of tiles breaking off so one entrance was blocked off as someone cut their foot on the loose tiles. The hot water went out which was not the end of the world since it was so hot. Food options are very limited. Overall the stay was pleasant but not sure we would rush back in a hurry. The ocean was truly amazing and the best part of the hotel.

Location amazing! Staff kind and helpful. Hotel itself very much in need of updates. We did not treat this stay as an All Inclusive based on other reviews we read. Therefore we knew we would be heading to town for lunch and dinner and that was exactly what we did. Overall a wonderful experience.

Some rooms smell moldy and bathrooms need physical door no glass door with gap where others can see you when sharing rooms

Las habitaciones son viejas y con falta de mantenimiento general en todo el hotel. La comida es insuficiente, el aforo de los restaurantes es insuficiente y nunca hay lugar en los restaurantes de menu a la carta. Es una pena que siendo uno de los pocos hoteles en mexico en una isla privada se encuentre en esas condiciones.

For 3 out of 5 days, we did not have any water at all. The other 2 days has cold water. The WiFi did not work at our room. The bird sanctuary outside our VIP room left a strong bird poop smell and had bird loud all throughout the night. It kept us awake many nights. The staff would not help with the water issue and tried to say the entire island was out when in fact it wasn’t. Very disappointed. The manager said because we booked through Expedia, there was nothing they could do.

The only great thing about this property was location. The rooms are dated and need renovations. The food was average, nothing special. The wait staff were more interested in talking to each other than servicing their customers. I asked for water from three different people, and finally got it myself.The people at the front desk acted like you were bothing them, whenever you asked them anything. The bar staff was good. It was nice when the bartender remembered what you were drinking. Thanks Henry! Overall it's an ok place, but I've had much better food and service at other resorts.

Room was musty, sliding padio doors hard to open and close

Excellent location on the ocean, the staff are very attentive. We originally were put in the wrong room and had to wait until the next day in order to get the room class that we had booked. While eavesdropping on other conversations we learned that many people had to switch rooms midstay. The resort itself is showing wear and tear. The sliding glass door to the balcony had a draft on the non-opening side. The walls were poorly patched where they had been previously damaged. The shower door had issues, and I became trapped in the shower when it was fully closed. There wasn't always hot water. One of the two elevators was non-working during the week that we were there. The beach with the palapas was littered with pieces of broken cement and other debris and should be raked. Despite all of this the MIA has the best view of anyplace in Mexico that I have stayed. Also, the staff is kind, generous, and hard working.

Property was clean, staff was helpful. Walls are paper thin and you can hear next door and hallways like they are in your room with you. Rooms are out dated bed was hard. View was great and it’s right in ocean so that’s awesome

I just spent 6 days at the resort. Had the best time. Rooms were clean and the staff was amazing. Had a birthday celebration while I was there and the staff helped make my day great. The staff learns your name and your drinks and are always there to make sure your taken care of. JC was the best of the best. He Would even walk out in the water to make sure you were comfortable, his attitude is contagious and you cant help but have a great time. Highly recommend.

flew in to Cancun,took the ferry over. Stayed 4 nights We walked from ferry to the resort- about 20 mins. When we arrived they came out with bottled water for us! So nice! After check-in, they had someone give us a ‘tour’- but it was really to get us to attend the timeshare/exclusives presentation. We did not attend. So yes- everyone wears wristbands. Different colors for your category I’m supposing. We had blue. There was pink, green and black. The black are timeshare folks and they are the only ones that get too shelf liquor.booked deluxe villa w/balcony. 2026 balcony had no furniture.next asked if we could get loungers. They said no problem. We came in at night and see still no loungers.They tell me that Expedias description is wrong and balconies in those rooms have no furniture. I show her the room description and she tells me no- your Expedia room doesn’t include a furnished balcony. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they were gone. As I’m chatting with Expedia, she comes back to our room and says they can move us tomorrow- Expedia called them also to rectify. In the 15+ years I’ve booked via Expedia, never had an issue. 3 stars for service. resort is a bird sanctuary just beware there is poop and cant be all cleaned up. Buffet is pretty good and variety- go early for fresher food. Bartenders all nice! The ceviche restaurant had best food! Able to get up &snorkel all day! We liked the daily activities. Not a party resort but we still enjoyed it. water is beautiful!

There were some particular parts of the property that could used some extra attention such as the beach. The food was so so. Also, if you book through Expedia, you get singled out with a different color arm band with a little different treatment. Some of the staff such as JC who waited on us several days on the beach and Miguel were fantastic. We will consider the Mia again but at the same time will also consider other places as well.

After many trips to Isla Mujeres, I decided to try Mia Reef. You cannot beat the direct access to the beautiful beach and snorkelling without having to leave the property. Staff - amazing Water pressure in room - amazing Beach - amazing Cleanliness of property and grounds - amazing Food - great options (including pescatarian and vegetarian) Atmosphere - relaxing and quiet and safe (music in bar played until after 10 which was loud, but once it was off for the night it was dreamy!) Activities - snorkelled right off the beach and saw tons of different fish, and loved the daily stretching/yoga on the pier Will be returning!

The property needs major upgrades and the vacation club pitch is painful, avoid it

Overall a FANTASTIC stay as ALWAYS!!! The staff AMAZING, JC and bartender Julio, well, these amigos are simply one of a kind and made our stay even MORE SPECIAL!!! Also, Daniel, Pedro, Marilou, Bernardo, and so many others provided EXCELLENT service along with wait staff at check in. Can't wait to see you all again next year, or before :)

Staff and people at the resort were great. Only issue was a mixup/miscommunication at the pickup for our departure. Not sure who was to blame (Expedia/AGI Tours or resort), but we booked a round trip private boat/minivan and they took us to the Ultimar Ferry terminal. We thought we were stranded, so proceeded to buy Ferry tickets (in fear we would miss our flights). However, the taxi driver returned and found us and got us back on track with our original booked private boat/van. It cost us about $40-$50 more (we were not refunded) due to this confusion. Other than this the vacation was great!

I love playa Norte! I had been there several times in different hotels in the area. The kings pool was very cool and the access to the beach is combined. The negative side will be just that the basic rooms are very small and not well maintained, it’s time for remodeling. Now I can’t talk about the bungalows becase I was not stay in there. The staff always very polite.

The location is amazing and every room has an ocean view. The hotel was clean and the staff were great. The food is good. Great for families as lots of options available. The rooms are dated and getting run down. We had 2 adults and 2 kids in a deluxe ocean view room. We ended up with a king bed and a single, despite requesting 2 queen beds and booking through Expedia that listed 2 queen beds. Essentially getting 2 queen beds depends on availabilty when you check in.

The location of this hotel is absolutely unbeatable! Friendly staff , decent buffet, a short walk to other bars and restaurants. Playa Norte, some of the clearest water on the planet and the most breathtaking sunsets are steps away! I will definitely return

The location of this property is truly the only thing I absolutely loved. The food was mediocre at best, the rooms were outdated and small and the beds very hard!!. The hotel was unkept and dirty, except for the lobby. You can not get drinks with top shelf liquor unless you’re part of the “MIA Club”. For 2 days we had no hot water due in the hotel. The towel hut to get beach towels is only open from 9am-5pm. So if you have an early morning excursion, make sure you get your towel the day before. They run out of wine daily, they run out of the fish at the ceviche bar by 4pm (and it’s only open for 1pm-6pm). All in all, sadly this all inclusive is not for me.

Beach awesome, staff awesome. Room ok. Only one restaurant and a buffet. Restaurant one night served a brisket that tasted like a rubber ball. Buffet was ok, ended up eating in town quite a bit. Overall good stay, but probably one and done.

This was my second time staying at Mia Reef. They are well known for their beautiful location in Playa Norte. We did the all inclusive at this resort. The food is subpar. We were expecting better quality. The outside dining area has a lot of birds they fly around you and leave excrement on tables, chairs and floors. They need to have someone solely responsible for the cleanliness of that area. They are also a good 15-20 minute walk to everything in town. You definitely would want to rent a golf cart to get around. Mia offers a golf cart rental but they upscale the price. We chose Mia because of the location- you can’t beat it! If you’re looking to be “Wowed “ this resort is not the place.

Pros- Beautiful location, great place to stay steps away from turquoise water. Reception, concierge, restaurant, bell boys, and bartenders were welcoming. Recommend renting a golf cart for the day to travel around the island. Cons- Though package we bought through Expedia stated it was “all-inclusive”, one of the cevicheria restaurants was only accessible at an extra cost. Also, there was a cafe in the lobby that only served coffee drinks at a cost.

Food selection was smaller than most all inclusives, but what they offered was delicious. The rooms could be cleaner, but the buildings age is a factor. Linens were very clean. The beach was stunning.

At the most, it’s a 3 star resort. The location is a 10/10. The rooms are decent, but the food is NOT good. We ate off property for dinner almost every night because the food was that bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone other than maybe college spring breakers. Our AC dripped so much water that we had to use a garbage can! We would come back to our room from the beach with water all over the floor (a lot of it), so we assume it was expected.

The big win for Mia is the private beach/lagoon. I’ve never seen water so blue. It was so gorgeous. The property needs some serious work. Broken chairs/tables/umbrellas. Seems like they haven’t been great about upkeep. Food is a joke. We went off site for almost every meal because either the Buffett options were terrible or the few restaurants on the property “were full”. The one breakfast and one lunch we had at Mia were the worst meals we had all trip. Upside is there are several great spots in golf cart distance. But that’s frustrating when you are paying for an “all inclusive”. We will be back to Isla but most likely not to Mia. Money is better spent elsewhere.

Beautiful location - close to ferry Beach that is further from the bridge very nice. Water is shallow and amazing to wade around in. Food at Civiche beach restaurant was good. Omelette station in the morning worked for us. We are not buffet people - what was there was not for us. Easy walk to lots of restaurant options. Wifi is absolutely terrible!! Overall enjoyed the stay.

Limited all inclusive. First all inclusive I've been to with limitations on food and alcohol. For this reason i would not recommend or return. I will say the staff was excellent
