Monte Carlo Inn Markham

I have been here two times and didn’t see any issues other than the elevator! Told them it’s very slow, of course I don’t mind going up and down 2 floors but I saw people waiting for it for couple of minutes because it’s old and slow. Other than that the continental breakfast is not much, but you can pay extra to get a better breakfast which I had better options outside and didn’t. The only thing is, it’s kind of pricey!

Le bain à remous est âgé, lumière brûlée et tâche au plafond. Ascenseur brisé. Ce qui m'a déplu surtout : Odeurs désagréables dans la chambre: sent le vieux tapis enfumé et l'humidité, pas de fenêtre ouvrable pour aérer.

The restaurant on the property was second to none. The dinner we had was absolutely delicious.

The room was ok, comfortable bed. Just felt "tired". Bar / Restaurant closed at 8.30pm and the vending machine wasnt working with not even bottled water in the room

I had a nice quiet stay for my night in the area. The hotel is a bit dated but clean and absolutely a great value for the money. I was on the 3rd floor and it was quiet. The breakfast has fresh fruit, cold cereals, yogurt, bagels, toast, muffins and hard boiled eggs and of course coffee and juice. For a small fee ($8 I believe) you can have other choices incl. the usual breakfast items so still a good deal. There is a restaurant that has some good looking specials but I didn’t eat there… seemed busy though. The fitness room is small and “ok”. No windows but allowed me to exercise and stretch. Free on site parking. Checkin (pre-booked online) and check out .. quick and friendly. Thank you

The elevator going up jumped and hurt my back the staff refused to fill out accident report Pam the service desk person wittness other people the told her thry were on same elevator and were witness to how hard the elevator fell we were going up not down when it jumped so hard electrical shock in my spin . THE MANAGER JUST SAID I WILL CALL ELEVATOR STAFF I told her I was hurt she just shoved it off as nothing.We left I was not happu my right side of my back spasms I had left side of my back sore and was recovering. Now I have pain in right side and spasms and my legs pain to my foot. An acvident report should of been filled out and I will see how well I recover in the next few weeks Brenda Coulombe 519 998 2435

Extremely clean and friendly staff. Attached restaurant had excellent food and customer service. Very generous portions.

Staff were ok, elevator didn’t work for 2 days

Nice looking place. Has chromecast which I usually look for. But if you care about comfortable beds I wouldn’t recommend sleeping here. If they got more comfortable / less firm beds I’d be happier. Also their restaurant closes really early so we didn’t get to check it out. Location is decent though.

The hotel room looks pretty good, but it need to make sure their one and only one elevator is working. Unfortunately, it didn't work during my checkin day. Also, they need to put more air freshener in their rooms to get rid of previous guest's smell.

Original room reserved was not as described and when I was changed to a new room, the room provided had clearly not be cleaned as when I folded back the sheets there were large black hairs etc in the bed. Front desk clerk came up to the 4th floor to give me new bedding and towels but I had to change the bed myself etc. as it was late at night. I later discovered a beer bottle cap by the bed which I stepped on. I had a busy schedule and was not able to move to another hotel or I would have the next day. At checkout, the room I was moved to, the dirty one, was $30 more per night despite that I went from a king bed to a queen bed and the clerk said sorry about the condition of the room and removed the $30/night charge but nothing else. Pathetic customer service.

Stayed one night and got in late so we just went straight to bed. In the morning the bathroom had tiny ants on the counter. They got all over my bathroom bag and I had to bag it up so it didn’t spread to my luggage. I did complain in morning but front desk just said call manager. I did call and left a message but they never go back to me.

I don't normally complain, like about anything but wow. This place is a mess. Very dirty, room. Found bugs in first room I was given. Asked for a new room. Staff complied but to no surprise the next room had them too. I unfortunately had to remain at this hotel because I was attending a conference being held here and after a recent surgery I was unable to drive. Resigned to my dirty room I continued to find bugs every morning in my bathroom and after thoroughly checking my bed closer there they were. Also was also lucky enough to find a bonus toenail on the carpet (not mine). After looking into it these bugs seem to be pharaoh ants. Very invasive and hard to get rid of. Which is why I was surprised to see that the room they moved me out of the day before (which was a few doors down from the new one) was rented out to another guest immediately. Clearly my very polite complaint and description of bugs wasn't taken very seriously nor do they plan to do anything about it. Good luck if you decide to stay here but they charge you full price upon check in and then I was told I couldn't receive a partial refund or credit because I had already paid. Cool. If I could rate lower than 1 I would. I don't fully blame staff because what exactly are they supposed to do it's just a desk job but my goodness. If you stay here please check your bathroom/bed/garbage cans for these bugs because you WILL find them and they will come out in full force it you decide to eat anything in your room

When we were going to bed I turned down the sheets and there were BUGS in the bed. They looked like dozens of ants. They moved my room but made no effort to help. I had to pack everything up and go down to the front desk and all they said was “did you take pictures of the bugs?” What?! The room was very warm and I needed to keep the loud air conditioner on all night (it was below 0 outside). The room and halls smelled of stale smoke. The breakfast (included) consisted of stale muffins (the tops were actually crunchy) and water for tea that was not hot enough to steep the tea. The manager ended up giving us $30 off but that in no way made up for this disgusting experience. I still had to pay $120. I would have moved hotels but there was nothing else available in the area. I wouldn’t stay there again even if it was free

I used to book this hotel in Markham . However , we found out the blankets probably were not been changed since we smelled the perfume on the blanket and we found a dirty yellow cleaning towel was under the blanket. We were shocked and very annoyed by these . I hope the management can keep the eye on your staff ‘s work . This is unacceptable !!!!

There were ants in the bathroom and a very musty smell in our room. However, the beds were very comfortable and the overall quality of the bedroom was good.

Rooms are always clean and the staff are excellent.

The first room I was in I had to go change because of the smell of musty but also was overpowered with an air freshener trying to hide the musty smell. The second room there isn’t enough lighting in the main room or the bathroom. The toilet paper was super cheap and scratchy. The pillows were uncomfortable to sleep on. The continental breakfast was actually pretty decent.

The bathroom was not clean . The bathtub had a lot of hair in it. The toilet was wasn’t clean . The sink had hair in it.

A lot of small Ants in rooms and tables. not even meeting basic hygiene standards! They tried to offer different room but it seems the ants are in all rooms cuz the hotel is too old. Very disappointing experience and the manager was not willing to solve and get us refund.

the room was in good condition. there are two things that concerns me. 1. the room is not sound proof and I can hear the neighbour's kid screaming all day. 2. there are smoke smell in the room and hallway.

I booked king suite, and the layout was not great since the desk table was near the door. Staff was very helpful, finding me a queen suite which had better layout. However, the heat system was above the bed the fan making noise all night long, so I didn't have a good sleep on first night. Again with help from the from desk, he shut it down and opened the window so I had better sleep next 3 nights. I usually booked at this hotel or the downtown one. Rate is reasonable included breakfast.

Room was clean but a bit hot. Had to get extra towels from front desk as room only had enough towels for two.

Room was big and spacious

The hotel is definitely showing its age. The beds were very firm and the room had a damp smell, which was disappointing. It was also a little noisy at times, and we were woken up by someone knocking on our door and running off at 5 am. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent.

Our stay was for six nights. We found the room to be quite dark. The bathroom was very dark with only indirect lighting from behind the mirror and very little counter space. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the shared bedside table had a lamp with convenient electrical plug in the base. The TV was a good size with a good quality picture. There was no way to access the extra HDMI ports on the TV Remote, but it was possible to use the port the Google device was connected to to use your own devices with the TV. There is also a convenient app to download offering direct access to the one allowed HDMI port and the available channels. The ice machine is located on the main floor and we never found it short on ice. The included breakfast offered minimal choices and did not change from day to day. The baked goods were always over baked and dry and the hard boiled eggs were almost impossible to peel the shell with it often coming off in 100 tiny pieces with chunks of egg white attached. Cantaloupe and honeydew melons were the only daily fruit offered. We thought of moving to another hotel after our first night, but the rate we had through Expedia made the Monte Carlo a good budget alternative to other properties we looked at

The rooms are dark & need more lights

Better lighting in the rooms, ability to fully close the thicker more opaque drapes in the room so as to block out the street lights to sleep, also more electrical outlets in the room and with more space - the only outlets were integrated into lamps and wa su able to plug in some of my chargers as space was limited

Room was great but a bit outdated. Wish we could use streaming services on the TV without a streaming stick.

The window curtain is not designed to close to block out street nor sunlight. The in room safe was not operational due to low battery. Had to report this issue twice before it was fixed. All the front desk staff were probably overworked or tired, never see them greet the guests who walked pass their desk.

Check-in staff was not welcoming at all. Seemed annoyed with us more than anything. On the day we were checking out, someone opened our room door without even knocking. When the front desk staff was told about this, there was absolutely no reaction - not even an apology.

Very quiet, clean, and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location. Will be glad to stay again in future.

First time here. Staying for business. Fast friendly checkin and nice big clean room. Free breakfast was a bonus.

Lady managing/supervising at the front desk was not quite that pleasant. However, our room and our stay was very nice and private.

Room was clean, it was quiet. I have stayed here multiple times. The only thing I don't like is the amount of time they take to return the deposit left for the room. In my opinion it should be done the same day, it has taken multiple days in the past to get it back.

I stayed at this hotel and absolutely loved the jacuzzi room, it was relaxing and clean. The front desk staff, especially Carlo, was amazing! He was so professional, welcoming, and extremely helpful throughout my stay. He truly deserves a raise! He made my experience even better, and I’ll definitely be back.

Everything was fine overall but the staff who greeted us didn’t feel very welcoming or friendly and the window AC unit in the room was ridiculously loud. The continental breakfast was underwhelming. You will need to pay extra for eggs, bacon/sausage and potatoes.

Friendly staff at front desk and in the dining room. Good location with a Tim’s/Wendys 1 block away. Rooms clean and comfortable. Your breakfast option include cornflakes or multigrain cheerios, melon and cantaloupe, boiled eggs, yougurt and bread/bagel/English muffin options, plus juice, coffee and tea. This is included as part of the room price, they do offer an “upgrade” for $8.00 p.p., eggs, bacon or sausage and home fries.

Room was clean, switching Input on the TV was sort of a "find waldo" game. I.e. basic tv remote but menu was not as indicated on the tv. The Continental breakfast was pretty basic, no real protein option.

Beds were comfy, lots of pillows. TV was a good size. Staff was friendly. Continental breakfast was the same every day, would have liked a little different variety.

The complimentary breakfast was a little disappointing (but it always is at hotels), the hallways smelled like old cigarettes and the rooms smelled like chlorine sometimes, and the vending machines didn't work... but other than that it was a pretty great stay!!
