The shower is unusual, so look for the instruction sign before stepping in & getting ankle deep in water. Nice to have free continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant with attentive staff. Option of $5 off menu items. Great central location. Elevator, luggage racks make 2nd floor room with lots of luggage very straightforward. Computer with printer available to guests. Fridge has small freezer. Iron, ironing board, hair dryer, good bedside charging ports. Only ‘deficiency’ was no microwave but there isn’t much spare counter for one. If you rent or bring one, it cuts into your dining area. Very pleased overall, would happily stay again.

They changed the circulation to the parking lot when they expanded outdoor seating. They closed the access from the rear so you need to enter off the busy intersection. Joyce is busy and the side entry at Barnet is in only one way. Then when you get parked there was a sign on the sliding entry door that the west sun overheats the operator so you need to pull the doors apart. So don’t try it if your hands are full or if you have a disability. I booked with Expedia and I got the worst room possible. My window looked at a back wall of a cabana in the courtyard and there were garden hoses and construction materials back there. It was hidden from the public areas of the courtyard, but exclusive view just for me. The hotel was not busy so why rent this room? Less distance for housekeeping is my guess.

We generally stay here during our annual or semi-annual visits to Powell River and find the location convenient, the rooms clean and comfortable. The free parking and continental breakfasts are an added bonus. Our server was paticularly delighful, during our recent stay. The hotel interior is looking a bit tired and could use some updating and tlc.

I rated this hotel a 3 for a couple of reasons. It's definitely not above a 3 star, but rating it lower would not be fair. First off, the rooms smell like stale smoke. The first room we were given had a VERY strong stench, so when we went back to the front desk, they gave us another room right away. The 2nd room didn't smell much better. The funny part is, it says 'no smoking' everywhere. Perhaps its in the carpets, furniture & walls? The rest of the room was as clean as you can make clean taking into consideration the age of the updates. This is an old hotel, but the rooms seem to have been slightly updated maybe 20 years ago. The bedding is decent, but the beds are not...they are terribly uncomfortable. The overall cleanliness of the room & interior of the hotel was clean, which helps with the score. There were 2 ladies at the front desk when we checked in. One was younger than the other...and that younger lady was VERY rude to her coworker, right in front of us. The other lady was the one who checked us in and she was quite pleasant...the younger one needs to learn some people skills. The area is super sketchy. To the point where I would not feel safe arriving late at night in the dark. I'm glad that my ground floor room was in the courtyard vs. the parameter of the parking lot. Glad to see big bright lights in parking lot...was honestly a bit worried about my car being broken into...it wasn't tho. Would I stay here again? Very unlikely unless I was stranded.

In the room my grandson found pills and a used Covid mask on the floor this hotel is understaffed and they are unable to clean the rooms properly. It took us forty five minutes to check in.

It would have been a really good place to stay if not for the cockroaches in the rooms. I was moved to the second room after complaining but it was the same there too. The staff appeared as if this is the first time they heard about cockroaches in the rooms. Definitely they are in the building if they appeared in both rooms I was in.

The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean. The beds are very comfortable However there are several problem areas. The automatic front doors to lobby do not open when it’s hot outside. The latest room I stayed in had an odor. I asked them to replace my room with another. They did. The second room was hot. The AC was not working. The display was reading an error code. The front desk staff told me this happens often. I was told to unplug it from the wall and plug it back in. This building is in need of extensive maintenance. It is unfair that the Hotel staff have deal with the building’s so comings. Several of the walls in the rooms have missing wall paper. Dents in the walls. I have pictures if you need to verify

My sister and I were stuck in town as our flight home was cancelled (2 times). We paid $235 +taxes for a “deluxe room” with a queen bed and a double sofa bed. I’m well aware that sofa beds are notoriously uncomfortable, but I could have dealt with that. What I couldn’t deal with was a sofa bed that was filthy and clearly not changed for a while. Messy, dirty sheets. I showed a picture to the front desk and there was hardly an apology, only “we will send someone up to make it”. As if I wanted to lay in that bed after that! I told her not to bother as my sister and I would share the bed. It is certainly not the 8.4stars listed on Expedia or Hotels.com. Not sure how this rating came be. However, if you are stuck in town, the food and staff at Iguanas Grill were great and Elena in the not so awesome hotel bar was sweet. And people in town are really nice.

Rooms are very old and dated but clean. Did the trick for a place to stay. Beds are very hard and uncomfortable. I definitely like a firm mattress but it was honestly so rock hard that you really felt like you were sleeping on the floor. The AC in the rooms barely works. The one woman at the front desk is very unpleasant. The service at the restaurant is extremely slow. Do not order food there if you are planning on catching a ferry that day, as it took well over an hour to get our food and I didn’t even come out hot.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, which is the primary reason we stay there. This visit was one of many that we have made over the past 4 years, and we were quite astounded at how old/tired the decor, bathroom fixtures, carpets, etc. are. It's like opening a door to the 60's...and not intentionally to reflect a retro style. Also, the sheets felt like they were on their last leg...definitely not the crisp and fresh quality that one anticipates when staying at a hotel that charges 230.00+ per night. During previous visits, we received a $10.00 voucher toward breakfast...not this time! The one positive comment I have is regarding the service provided by desk clerk Deanna, who cleared up a booking error on our part.

The air conditioner in the room was quite noisy, but window can’t be opened for fresh air. TV in the room was tiny and not a smart TV, so programs were all out of dated. The food from TC’s pub ( hotel owned) did not taste good.

I rated this hotel a 3 for a couple of reasons. It's definitely not above a 3 star, but rating it lower would not be fair. First off, the rooms smell like stale smoke. The first room we were given had a VERY strong stench, so when we went back to the front desk, they gave us another room right away. The 2nd room didn't smell much better. The funny part is, it says 'no smoking' everywhere. Perhaps its in the carpets, furniture & walls? The rest of the room was as clean as you can make clean taking into consideration the age of the updates. This is an old hotel, but the rooms seem to have been slightly updated maybe 20 years ago. The bedding is decent, but the beds are not...they are terribly uncomfortable. The overall cleanliness of the room & interior of the hotel was clean, which helps with the score. There were 2 ladies at the front desk when we checked in. One was younger than the other...and that younger lady was VERY rude to her coworker, right in front of us. The other lady was the one who checked us in and she was quite pleasant...the younger one needs to learn some people skills. The area is super sketchy. To the point where I would not feel safe arriving late at night in the dark. I'm glad that my ground floor room was in the courtyard vs. the parameter of the parking lot. Glad to see big bright lights in parking lot...was honestly a bit worried about my car being broken into...it wasn't tho. Would I stay here again? Very unlikely unless I was stranded.

Walked into the lobby and it smelled like strong cigarette smoke. The Lady checking us in was very rude and kept rolling her eyes at us. She should not work in hospitality. Checkout was great the lady the next morning was very nice and smiled and very professional.

Very rude front desk attendant when checking in. The groups behind us noticed this as well and discussed it with us, so I wasn’t the only one. If we weren’t there for a wedding we would have left immediately and stayed elsewhere. Also, the pub and restaurant had limited hours and when we did eat at the pub, the service was poor. Also, a man doing hard drugs out front by the front door.

Hotel was good with resturants and bar in tge hotel. The only negativity is the severe shortage of staff and putting a receptionist on the main desk at prime check in time , felt sorry for her she did her best but just couldn't cope. 2 hour wait for room upon checking in , when room was ready again due to new staff.

First impression of the property was the front desk lady she was amazing. She was super busy but let everyone feel like they really matter. Best service I have anywhere in a long time. Our stay was May 13/23. She should be commended. Very nice rooms with all conveniences . Balcony room was super clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend.

3 minutes from the ferry terminal, so convenient. Staff were very accommodating & friendly. It’s an older hotel but we’ll looked after & clean. The room had everything a big expensive hotel has… they even had comfy robes in the rooms. One of the most comfortable hotels we have stayed in.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, which is the primary reason we stay there. This visit was one of many that we have made over the past 4 years, and we were quite astounded at how old/tired the decor, bathroom fixtures, carpets, etc. are. It's like opening a door to the 60's...and not intentionally to reflect a retro style. Also, the sheets felt like they were on their last leg...definitely not the crisp and fresh quality that one anticipates when staying at a hotel that charges 230.00+ per night. During previous visits, we received a $10.00 voucher toward breakfast...not this time! The one positive comment I have is regarding the service provided by desk clerk Deanna, who cleared up a booking error on our part.

The property itself is in a different spot.. it’s in the middle of a parking lot. You don’t get a view or a pool or anything but it’s super close to the arena! If you are in town for hockey this is a great spot.

It's a bit low on charm, being in the middle of a giant strip mall parking lot, but it's clean and does the job. Breakfast is standard but nice, and the dining room is sunny with a view onto the courtyard rather than the parking lot.

The shower is unusual, so look for the instruction sign before stepping in & getting ankle deep in water. Nice to have free continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant with attentive staff. Option of $5 off menu items. Great central location. Elevator, luggage racks make 2nd floor room with lots of luggage very straightforward. Computer with printer available to guests. Fridge has small freezer. Iron, ironing board, hair dryer, good bedside charging ports. Only ‘deficiency’ was no microwave but there isn’t much spare counter for one. If you rent or bring one, it cuts into your dining area. Very pleased overall, would happily stay again.

When asked about not having toiletries or coffe and clean mugs I was informed that if I wanted that I would have to go to the front desk. For the price of the room you think we would havr fresh clesn cups and toiletries every day. The view was the parking lot. The free breakfast was coffee , cereal and toast or muffin and bagels. Thing is there was only a few pieces and limited amount to eat. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. The other issue is the pub that is part of the hotel is closed on weekends.

I definitely like a firm mattress but it was honestly so rock hard that you really felt like you were sleeping on the floor. The AC in the rooms barely works. The one woman at the front desk is very unpleasant. The service at the restaurant is extremely slow. Do not order food there if you are planning on catching a ferry that day, as it took well over an hour to get our food and I didn’t even come out hot.

The air conditioner in the room was quite noisy, but window can’t be opened for fresh air. TV in the room was tiny and not a smart TV, so programs were all out of dated. The food from TC’s pub ( hotel owned) did not taste good.

We did not use any services. The booking on line led to many problems . I thought the sight offered a King bed or two Queens. I Chose the King bed but denied the offer of two Queen beds. The original room was about a 5 min. Walk to the end of the second floor. I phoned and complained and they very kindly gave us a similar room closer to the elevator. We did not get a King bed as advertised and there was a Large addtional charge for our room at time of payment on line. We might have saved a small amount by going through Travelocity but there was an add on at time of booking as well the Hotel added a Large deposit ( refundable) for damages . All this and we did not get what I asked for….a King bed. The Hotel blamed this on booking on line. They had not been told of the optiongiven to me. I will not be using Travelocity in the future!
