Overall a pleasant stay. The rooms are a bit small, but are clean and comfortable. Ice machine was not working and hadn't been the for a while. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Would probably stay there again if we're in the area.

I am amazed this property is allowed to operate!! It is in zero compliance with any regulations for disabled patrons!!! After managing to get to our room went looking for ice. No machines in hotel went to front desk only ice machine broken. Sandman should remove there name from this establishment!!! Will never stay again.

The staff were amazing. Super friendly. The room although a bit dated was super clean (I’m talking not even any dust on the trim) clean! Beds were comfortable and the room and location was very quiet.

The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Staff are excellent, there was always someone behind the desk to help out or answer questions. The lady cleaning the rooms, I’d say she’s a professional, she does a great job. There was coffee and snacks early morning in the lobby.

My room was filthy. Floors had not been vacuumed for so long I had to keep my shoes on. Bathroom had not been cleaned and had no toilet paper. The front desk closes at a certain hour so I had to go to another guest and get toilet paper. If that wasn’t bad enough at 6 am the power went out in my room…also no one around to fix this issue

Every towel was stained. The doors don’t close quietly, they require some force to shut, so it sounds like slamming doors all night. Staff were knocking on my door at 8am asking if I was still here, then another staff member knocked on the door at 10am to ask if I dropped off my room key at the front desk. I informed that I did not and she showed me the key with my room number in her hand. Upon checkout I asked a lit the 8am knock and she said “it must have been housekeeping” and when I asked where the key to my room came from, she told me that they have extras in the event that a guest leaves for key in the room at check out, then the staff can open the door. She then told me that the key she brought to my room, was left on the front desk where anyone can grab it if they walked by.

This was my first time staying at this property. I frequently travel to Smithers for work so I have stayed at a number of other properties but this one I would not recommend. Not only is the parking and accessibility limited; the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. After getting into my room after not being able to find the hotel front desk attendant, I was met with a visibly soiled and dirty bed with a questionable brown mark and a unknown object that resembled a squished brown object. I appreciate the staff member changing over my items but this affected the quality of my visit

I stayed here once before and hoped it was a one off however I was wrong. The room was a pet friendly room however once I opened the door I got hit with a humid wet carpet stank. The carpet was very dirty and gross to walk on. The AC was not working properly so I had to open the window for the entire night to cool down the room.

First we found our room door was wide open upon check-in. When we told the front desk she came and checked it out and told us she forgot it open. Upon further inspection i noticed the bathroom counter had not been wiped properly (soap stains from previous occupants) . The tv stand and night stands also were not wiped as there was a ring from a drink on the stand and a light covering of dust on all surfaces. The soap tray in the bathroom had soap crust on from previous tenants. The beds were ok other then some stains on the blankets. We will not stay there again

This was an older Sandman hotel, showing its age. Room was clean, the furniture older and looking a bit shabby. Limited parking for hotel. BUT it was quiet considering it was full, and the room was comfortable and good value for sure. Check in was quick and efficient, staff friendly. Great for an ovrrnight stay!

The manager and staff were phenomenal. I can't say enough good things about them! They were very accommodating with my requests. The room itself was a decent spot to sleep and had a reasonable selection of tv channels and a few comfort items like microwave/mini fridge/coffee maker. The bathroom could use maintenance as there was staining and peeling, door didn't latch closed, light flickers and crackles, and the toilet barely flushed.

Sandman in Smithers is a good place to stay, but like many smaller properties, the front desk is not staffed 24hrs per day, and is showing signs of wear. When I first used the toilet, it took at least 10 minutes to fill. I eventually checked the tank and the flapper valve was not properly connected. Unfortunately, I was not able to fix it, so using the toilet required a bit of finagling if I wanted the tank to fill as it should. How could housekeeping not notice this and report it? However, the Sandman is conveniently located, is right next to a Tim Horton’s, and has very comfortable beds. I will definitely stay there again.

Booked late on Expedia. Mngr made sure to find ( & cleaned himself) a great room for us. Did not catch his name but he did say he wason loan from Kamloops, BC. Great job to him

This location was not the best, the room and bed were comfortable, but we were put in the room just of the reception area. It was not to bad except for the extractor fan just outside the window, and the fact that next to the hotel was a drive thru Tim Hortons, which was quite noisy, but the noise of the air conditioning unit drowned out the majority.

The room had airconditioning; and compfy beds. There was a coffee pot with tea and coffee; but, the only choice for coffee was dark chocolate cinnamon. So no thanks. The huge entry cement steps only had one short railing in the centre or lean against the building walking down.

The room had airconditioning; and compfy beds. There was a coffee pot with tea and coffee; but, the only choice for coffee was dark chocolate cinnamon. So no thanks. The huge entry cement steps only had one short railing in the centre or lean against the building walking down.

The room was clean but it’s an older hotel. It wouldn’t be good for someone with handicap access as there are stairs to get into the hotel. Also, they gave us our room then someone opened the door to fix a window when we were in our room without knocking first.

Hotel is showing its age but it’s clean and the staff are friendly and courteous. TV is terrible - 1/2 the channels have sound and no pictures. Parking is a little tight. Good location for getting around town.

The staff at this hotel are very nice. One thing to mention is that this hotel is NOT ACCESSIBLE for anyone with a wheelchair, or any limited walking/mobility issues. I did not see on the Hotels.com website that this was the case, and made reservations here. We had a room on the second floor, which was a big struggle for me, but thankfully my daughter was able to help me. In addition to no elevator, the hotel lobby requires a person to climb several steep steps to access it. The handrails are not sufficient on this staircase going from the parking lot to the lobby. If I could, I would have changed hotels, but it was too late. None of this is the fault of the people who work here, it is just the building design. There is a Tim Horton's next door, so if you are in a hurry that is an option for breakfast. The room was fine for an overnight stay.
