Comfort Inn Birmingham - Irondale

Hotel was good, the part of town was good. The pool closed at 8 and the manager was very ugly about kicking us out at 8 on the dot. It had rained all day and we all just wanted to enjoy the only reason we booked this hotel and not others closer to the attractions we were in town to see.

When you first arrive you will notice from the parking lot that half the hotel is under construction. Check-in was friendly enough. However, when we got to our assigned hotel room the door was left wide open, no need for the key cards which was unusual. Carpet in the hotel rooms are not clean at all and the room had lots of different bugs since there is a massive gap at the bottom of the doorway to the hallway. For a one night stay I personally saw at least six different bugs. I was going to report it at checkout, however no one was working at the front desk. They only had a key drop during regular checkout hours. Would not stay at this property again.

Decent stay. High price. Parking is horrible sometimes.

Lady at check-in wasnt welcoming. We was on 2nd floor, elevator had no ac was very hot, our floor smelled like wet dirty carpet. Bed linen was stained and curtains had stains. Door was very hard to open. Hotel needs updated. Average stay for the price. Breakfast was very average. Area around hotel seemed little shady as we seen several homeless people outside of hotel parking lot

Room was comfortable ang clean. But we had plans for fun visiting at the pool. It was closed by the health department

Air conditioning didn’t really work very well inside the room. On a 90 degree day it was impossible to sleep that evening. The carpets were kind of dirty. The room fridge was not cold. Wi-Fi was not dependable either. The worst part was we found someone who was not a hotel guest (a random person from the street outside) sleeping in the gym since the door was broken and didn’t require a hotel key card for them to access. Despite there being a camera in the gym, turns out it was a fake and they had no idea how he passed the security desk and just walked straight in. The management seemingly didn’t really care very much when we told them either and just shrugged. I’ve stayed at Comfort Inns before and they’ve mostly been ok. This location we won’t come back to.

Property felt safe and lots of parking. Breakfast was included and the room was clean.

My stay was not terribly. The beds are comfortable and clean. The breakfast was ok. My only complaint was that the pool was closed. That completely threw me off on how to entertain 2 kids for 5 or 6 hours until bedtime in a city that's not that safe to explore. You do have many great places to eat just right there tho. So that was a pluss. If they fix the pool. Staff was very friendly.

This was our second stay here and it will be our last. The property is just rundown and understaffed. Lobby area was clean and the breakfast provided was decent. However the room conditions were poor. Floor was sticky and dirty (my socks were filthy after walking around one morning). The duvet on the bed was yellowed and old. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. There were ants in our room, crawling on the headboard. We asked the staff twice to bring extra towels since there were two people staying but they kept forgetting. And then there was the smell. The entire building reeked of this sickening fragrance.

The bathroom had a strong smell of urine,and found a roach in the shower

Unbelievably dirty room. Major moisture/humidity issue (the bedding was wet due to the severity of the issue). I found two roaches crawling around in the bathroom. Splatters of a thick, sticky goo on the walls, lampshades, etc. You may want to do something to prevent customers and/or employees from smoking weed on the property. I’ll never stay here again.

Hotel was cheap got what I paid for. Could’ve definitely been worse! The hotel could be cleaned way better stains on sheets and comforter, I opened the refrigerator and a roach was trying to figure its way out never in my life and I have stayed at lots of hotels as well as work for hotels!!! The room stinks curtains stained dirty wash cloth left on shower rack furniture out of date!

Booked at last minute as a change in route home. Staff was away from the checkout desk and it took 10 - 15 minutes before he appeared. Another guest tried to call the hotel to get staff's attention, but phone kept on ringing. Breakfast was good and ready early, which helped. One the other hand my daughter woke up with bites all over her exposed skin; apparently bedbugs in the blanket. My wife, who was in the same bed, had no problem when she was between the sheets. This was one of our worst nights.

Our room was on the second floor and it was musty, the carpet was sticky, one of the two beds had a green stain on the sheets, and the A/C sounded like it may be on its way out.

Hotel was dirty overall. Found hairs in the beds. Sheets were ripped and stained. Rooms were humid and stinky. Overall feeling of dampness and moldiness. Front desk staff was rude. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!

The room in my opinion was not maintained to a quality standard. The blankets had a home from a burn it looked like, the walls were scratched and scuffed, sheets looked like the weren't changed, stains on the towels, pillow cases, and bed cover, same hair on both sheets of both beds, daughter woke up with bites, mirrors were in shape condition, any in my daughter's bed, potential blood spots on both sheets and pillow case, so yeah, I felt like I slept in a bed that was already slept in and just remade. We slept in our clothes.

Front desk clerk had RBF. 2 out of 4 outlets didn't work to charge devices. Coffee maker on working outlet wouldn't function. Blowdryer power light indicator on but wouldn't turn on to function. Basically nothing but tv would work and not from operator error lol. Had to play musical outlets. Beds soft but clean and ok sleep.

Our room smelled so bad. It smelled like a sewer. Online picture was not accurate of our room. Our room was run down. The pillows were small. Maybe 12x12. I have sofa cushions that are bigger.

Employee at check in was ok. All other staff was excellent throughout our stay. Room appeared to be clean, with the exceptions of candy wrappers on floor and hand print all over the headboard. Looked like whomever stayed there before had a really good time. I keep some Lysol wipes so I didn’t bother calling housekeeping. Carpet looked fresh and clean. There was no soap in the bathroom whatsoever ever. The room didn’t have any bad smells. the tub was really slick with no traction. Shower curtain was clean. The air condition was not loud at all. The toilet paper holder was in a really weird place. water pressure was great. The bed was extremely comfortable. I believe that this hotel is in need of a small upgrade. Sheets and curtains were stained. Lamps, Lights and sink fixtures were corroded. Walls were chipped and had stains on them. Some things need to be replaced. We went down for breakfast, (8:30ish) housekeeping had marked us as checked out. So someone walked in on us after we returned. Housekeeping was LOUD in the morning, I felt it was very inconsiderate and would have been very mad if I wasn’t already awake. There was a loud commotion late in the night, I called the front desk. Seemed to handle the situation. If these things are fixed this will be a very nice hotel, but if not it’s going to go downhill quickly I fear. Breakfast was very enjoyable. The food was fresh and the attendant was very nice, helpful and kept everything very clean.

Friendly check-in. Room was very clean and smelled fresh. Typical breakfast with waffles and sausage and juices available. Very convenient to restaurants and other conveniences.

The check in staff was not very hospitable, had an attitude. The towels in the room were damp and the room itself felt damp. The continental breakfast was decent though.

This was my second time staying in this location and the front desk customer service was horrible. I don’t remember the guys name but he could really go through more training. I could see if it was just minor issues but the couple behind us experienced the same terrible customer service. I think this will be my last time staying at this location.

The room was muggy, and the air felt heavy. Everything in the room felt wet. I went to the staff to discuss the issue with our room. They offered us nothing, not a room change, and not even to fix the problem they obviously had with the air conditioning unit in the room. They said they would have the hotel management contact us, but it never happened. We were there for a conference and had no time to wait for them (the hotel manager) at the front desk. It saddened me and made me furious with the inaction of this staff. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Staff from housekeepers, to food fixers to front desk very friendly and accommodating!

Booked for an early airport flight. Room/bathroom wasn’t clean. Night clerk made a copy of my drivers license and credit card and proceeded to tell me it was required if I wanted room. They keep it on file for 30 days! If it hadn’t been a prepaid room. I would have left.

Lady at check in was rude and very slow. She kept stopping to talk to her friend instead of completing our check in.

Staff were excellent, especially Claire - she went above and beyond in her customer service - made us all feel very welcome to the hotel and surrounding area.

The property was sufficient for our needs. It was convenient to the airport and was good for what we needed.

Over all, a good place to stay. Our trip was for a concert at The BJCC. Very convenient to I-20, and just a short trip into downtown Birmingham. I would stay again.

The staff were very friendly. Breakfast good. Room clean. Close to shopping if needed. Close to Barber Motorsports Park. Overall a good experience.

Needed a place to stay prior to flight next morning. This place was fine. Woman at front desk was super nice. Breakfast in the AM was a bonus. Very close to airport. Bed was a bit worn down, but fine for a night.

It's a good base for us as we were visiting the Barber Motorcycle museum in Irondale/Leeds areas and its a short drive to the airport as well. The hotel is basically a transit stop for travellers and truck drivers and the staff are good. They have complimentary coffee and breakfast was OK if a bit limited and you have food options close to the hotel and a Walmart store about 10mins walking distance.

Breakfast was a joke. The front desk attendant was coughing a lot, covering with her hand and touching everything including my I.D., credit card, and room keys. The beds were comfortable. One of the rooms, the remote didn't work.

Nice, clean hotel. Overall staff very friendly. Don’t be late for breakfast as it shuts down right at 9 am.
