I ve stayed at the Palace often over the years and find that the breakfast has really gone downhill on my last few visits. There is not much choice if you don t like a full English, the pastries are very poor, as is the continental selection. Staffing is often poor at breakfast as well, though what staff they have are always busy. The lobby and reception area are beautiful, however the bedrooms, though comfortable are somewhat shabby. Management need to look at the breakfast menu and improve the quality.

I loved the hotel, I was amazed how a hotel of that size can keep such high standards and yet not be too expensive that it is out of everybody’s reach.

Friendly warm welcome at Check-in. Process was nice and easy. My single Room was on the 3rd floor and I was surprised at how spacious it was! I thought the bed / frame was a little soft for my liking, but this certainly didnt prevent me having a good nights sleep. The only problem I found was that there was no hot water for a shower in the morning. I left the shower running for over 5 minutes, but still no heat. This was the same story with water in the bathroom sink. Very strange as I've stayed here numerous times and never experience this before.

Ideal location and the room size was generous (executive sweet), the building and its features were lovely, the chandelier was stunning. However the window in the bathroom had large cracks and at low level so if you were to accidentally fall against them there’s potential for a serious accident. Also in the bathroom the door handle had been replaced leaving the stain marks and screw holes visible from the previous handle. Returning in the evening there was no lighting along the garden pathway to the hotel, when informing the nighttime receptionist he was quite dismissive and said they new about it and it’s been like it for a while and the hotel was waiting for an electrician to sort the issue, I have to say we reported the problem again in the morning and got a much better response and concerns were noted.
