Himley Country Hotel

This hotel is not what I thought it was in the 21st century the WIFI is an essential part of every guest experience in their stay at any hotel except that this hotel does not have a reliable WIFI or it was faulty. The hallway to my hotel room there were buckets along it to contain droops of water from rooftop.

As we first drove into car park exterior looked ok, walked through entrance, reception is facing you, booking in was easy and quick we were on second floor, decore was very dated been repainted over and over again.The room (228) standed room as we walked in the damp over powed us first thing we noticed was the condensation on the window, same condition decor as the hallway heaing was on and it was warm but you could tell it gets turned off until they get a booking for that room. The paint work on everything was sticky through long periods of standing empty, bed was comfy room over all was clean, found the reason for damp smell found the aftermath of a burst hot water pipe no attempt to clear it up.went into the bar for a drink before we went out, To be told its closed and looking at its not been open foe sometime

This is described as a business hotel with restaurant and wifi (essential business requirements). When I arrived, there was no restaurant and NO wifi. The room was also grubby, curtains falling off the rails and the bed passed its best before date many years ago

For the price, a reasonable hotel. Very tired building that needs a lot of TLC, they were doing some decorating whilst I was there. Mattress not the best and Wifi doesn't reach all the rooms. Convenient location and easy access with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops nearby. Shame the restaurant is closed.

bedside lights didn't work, TV in room didn't work, no hot water available in room, bar not manned, no wifi available in room, car park used a meeting point for boy racers. A poor nights sleep resulted. Staff appeared ambivalent to the above matters.

Big old Country House thats seen better days. Perfectly good for me passing through though and very clean. No food but Pub 200 yards away did an excellent carvery.Would certainly use again

Lot of parking space ,easy check in and out .The mattress wasn't comforable.

A convenient and budget stay after we were let down by Premier Inn. However a little lacking in staff, and a bar with no stock. We didn't stay for meals, simply an overnight sleep. Beds were comfortable enough.

Do not be fooled by the photos of this establishment, which must have been taken decades ago! This is a run down, extremely basic place to sleep overnight, & does not deserve its title of “Hotel”. The room was fairly clean, but the decor & carpets were decades old. Bathroom suite was possibly “pampas” from 1970s! Bed wast ok, sheets appeared clean. Wall-mounted thermostat (?) within room missing its front, with possible live wires accessible, torn fire safety notice giving limited information, TV turned on by 3amp light switch embedded in headboard, via 13amp socket. Several corridor stairs coming apart (previously taped, but tape missing) causing trip hazard. Fire doors throughout the corridors wedged open (with actual wedges), & the exit fire door was wide open when we arrived (meant to be alarmed - none going off). The fire escape spiral staircase was serviceable, but area surrounding the base was not maintained, making further progress difficult. The entry sign says hotel & restaurant - it does not serve food of any kind. Staff were helpful & pleasant. Local Fire Service informed.

Awful room, terrible bed, dirty and very mouldy windows. Bathroom was filthy. I knew as soon as I pulled into the carpark it was going to be bad as there seemed to be no other guests

Mouldy old hotel with cobwebs, broken toilets and nothing to be proud of.

Hotel looked grotty overall. My room was very unclean, large webs on the windows, marks on the carpet and walls, toilet seat wasn’t cleaned and hairs on it, shower looked dirty. Carpets were threadbare and the corridors smelled musty

Room had black mould on the walls, the bed base parted when I sat on it, the carpet was heavily stained Wi-Fi was non existent bathroom was disguising the guy on reception was like Manuel off Faulty Towers & was flirting with a female so I just handed the key back to room 222 & said I wasn’t staying in a room with mouldy walls to which he replied… ok DISGUSTING DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE

The property was dirty, we had no soap in our room at all, the windows were filthy and the bathtub was filthy, the rubbish bins weren't all empty and there wasn't enough toilet paper. The pillows were flat as a pancake. We would not book again

Room a little tired, but clean, clean bedding and towels, lovely hot water for a shower, tv easy to work. Tea and coffee, for a budget stay would use this hotel again

While hotel needs some love and TLC! In serious need of refurbishing Room extremely dated and run down! Heating was on or off no controls Shower curtain held up with sellotape Mirror fixed on with gaffer tamper painted over! Flush secured with brown resin! To had minimal channels not even ITV! Carpet loads of stains Wall had severe damp Bathroom was worryingly dirty tiles slimy mildew coming through grout.

Checked in, viewed the room, you could smell the black mould from the toom in the corridor. Room 228 wardrobe was full of it. I complained, they gave me anogher room, a small double bed my feet hung over, an electric bar heater which once came on burnt all the dust on it and stank out the toom, toilet wasnt fitted to the floor, bath was flithy, tv hanging off the wall, the hot water wasnt really hot for a bath, no plugs in sink, very disappointing, wouldnt book there again

Rooms had damp cracks in the ceiling and black mould in the bathroom, glass in the car park where a car had been broken into. The staff werent helpful so we didnt stay as it was unsafe.

Not aesthetically pleasing at all, very out of date decor, would suit men who work in the area and don’t spend much time in the hotel room who just need it for a quick sleep and shower. Shower flow was very good though.

The hotel is quite rundown. I arrived late and left early. Ok night but could hear "everything"!!! Going on in nearby rooms. Would I book again? No.

Told my booking was cancelled when turned up, door to room didn’t shut properly, no handle on the outside to pull shut, corridors could do with decorating

Cheap stay, comfy beds, wish there were sockets near every bed. Quiet place. Recommend.

Hotel could do with a refresh. power sockets in the room didn’t work. had to ask for more pillows as the one in the beds was flat.

The bed springs were very sharp, i couldn't sleep all night, very uncomfortable. I now have back pain

Good size room and comfy bed. And nice staff. Down fall to the room there was a 2 little blood stains on under bed sheet on a sheet and one of the windows had no lock so could be opened from either side. Light switches was temperamental. And 2 bugs in the room.

The bed was broken and very uncomfortable hot water was not working properly tv not working it was very uncomfortable night they need to change furniture specially beds other wise is not too bad

👎 awful. Drunken noise/fighting through night, wafer thin walls so listened to next doors sex. Shower hot and cold on its own doing, tap spud 360 degrees so couldn’t use, heater didn’t work, carpets wafer thin, 1 pillow, tv didn’t work constantly, reception couldn’t email me receipts which is unheard of, grounds look like it’s an apocalypse. Also had the cheek and charged my card £25 to wash hand towel, without notifying me either, naughty naughty. better sleeping at train station.

Good parking, no heating in room, was very cold, and electric heater on the wall didn’t work, damp around the window, only 1 thin hard pillow each on the bed. Staff were friendly on arrival.

I tried to contact this property and let them know I was unable to stay and could I cancel. They did not answer my call and I sent an email which I never got a reply back from. I still paid for the 3 nights accommodation. Very poor service.

Looks okay from the outside. Reception was rude. Seemed annoyed when asked simple questions and card security. They put us in a room with a buzzing noise that vibrated the walls. I went down and asked him if I was next to the boiler room or something similar and he said no and it must be a guest (based on the windows from where the noise was coming from, it was indeed a boiler room). I went down a second time to ask to switch rooms and we were put in a room with a broken bed. I couldn't be bothered to deal with him again so just tried to sleep and left early as it was only for one night.

I stayed one night at the Himley country hotel for work purposes and at check in I spoke to the gentleman on duty about booking for three nights the following week which he did and asked me to pay there and then so i did, i had a call from work within half hour of booking to say that the work had been cancelled and that I wouldn't need to stay, i went back to reception and cancelled the booking and asked for the payment to be paid back onto the card, he said he couldn't do that and the manager would have to do it and her name was Natasha and she wouldn't be available till the next day at 10am. The next day i tried several times to get in touch from 10am and finally got to speak to the manage and explained the situation to her, she refused to refund the money back to the card saying that they have a no cancelation refund policy i think is is quite unreasonable as i was not told by the reception of this when i booked, she said that it says on line but again explained the booking was made face to face at reception but she still refused, i also complained about the disgusting state of the room, but nothing was done again,there was a broken picture on the wall, lots of cob webs on the inside of the windows and black mold in the grouting of the bathroom tiles, i was told to contact reservation@himleycountryhotel.com to take it further which i have done 4 times now with no response needless to say i am now going to take it further to consumer rights and trading standards.

The staff were very pleasant and efficient, however the hotel needs major update and definitely new mattresses! We were only there one night luckily!

Stayed here several times now. On plus side its cheap beds are clean and towels fresh. Sadly thats about anything good i can say. 1st time i stayed there the room was freezing luckily i carry a blanket in the car. Aldo car park is npcr control ehich wasn't working correctlyso i hot issued a parking ticket. There was no tea or coffee in the room just a dirty cup. Last time i stayed there was no hot water for both night's so it was vold showers. Oh and there's never any toiletries for patrons either. Anyway when i complained i was told as it was pre booked i couldn't claim compensation for the lack of hot water. I asked to speak to the manager. Sorry shes not available but she will call you later today. She didn't. I have emailed a complaint which they haven’t bothered to respond to either. Honestly keep your £47 and sleep in a layby!

Room was OK nothing special, was told we was in one of the better rooms when I phoned up but when we arrived iit was basic and just about clean on the surface, we just needed a bed for the night. Bar staff were friendly but trying to get service from reception initially wasn't great

Booked this place after turning up to another hotel to be told there was no rooms despite me booking through Expedia. Even for 40 pounds per night this hotel was not worth it. I arrived after a long day at work and a mess up afterwards (expedias fault). The 1st room had a big period stain on the bed, and it looked fresh by how red it was. Took photos showed the receptionist who was very nonchalant about it who gave me another room. This room then the bed was majorly broken to the base, third time lucky the room was average at best, long hairs in the shower that I had to clean before use. On the final day and night, the lights to my room stopped working and didn’t come back on. I checked out as early as I could. Extremely poor, even for 40 quid a night. Never felt comfortable or relaxed there at all.

Staff were helpful, and provided everything we asked for. Given that this is an hotel, I found it appalling to find that they had no facilities for meals. We had to ask for spoons to make hot drinks. There was nowhere in the bathroom to hang dressing gowns etc. Room 123 had a shower over a bath, but the bath was slippery when wet. Also, there was no mat to step out onto. Should I have had to ask for this too? The information sheet in the room mentioned "School House Bar", but this was nowhere to be found. The curtain pole was not lined up properly with the window, letting in light at sun rise, and disturbing sleep. Tiles in the bathroom were grimy. There was a threadbare patch in the carpet by the entrance to the bathroom. Paintwork in the bathroom was worn. In short, the hotel was a disaster and I'd not recommend it to anyone.

Plenty of parking but the car park needs a clean remnants of broken car window. Hotel is looking dated. The window was misty and an awful water stain on the ceiling with flaking paint. My 1st job was to Tesco new pillows and mattress cover. I don't think cleanliness is their strong point.

I simply wanted a room for the night having attended a funeral earlier. Check in and out was simple and the twin room was spacious and comfortable if a little dated. The bathroom was ok and I enjoyed a morning shower with good water pressure. Although there is no food offering the nearby pub offered well priced meals including an all day breakfast. Not a place for a romantic getaway but as a no frills value for money stay it was absolutely fine.

Quiet area, good parking.

Parking was easy at the hotel Accomodation was fair ... good for the price of my 1 night stay

Overall the accommodation was ok. We used it as a place to sleep for 2 nights. Location was a 10minute drive from Kingswinford. Hotel is a little dated but the rooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy. Based on the rates it was a reasonable accommodation.

It was obviously a very good venue in days gone by. Now, it is more like a motel. However, it is a good budget accomodation with a good pub nearby for food and a good bus route. Himley itself, is very quaint and has some fantastic walks.

My stay was extra special as it was the evening before and my wedding day evening. Me and my best friend stayed the Friday and had a lovely meal on the evening. We mentioned to our server that i was getting married in the morning and she brought out a desert with a candle saying congratulations. Was a complete surprise which made it that more special. The room was beautiful and the staff overall so lovely and welcoming.

This hotel is terrible. Had walls like paper people shouting outside our room door. The lights were falling off the wall the old thermostat case was hanging off with live wires. The bar is poorly stocked out of 8 pumps only 2 were working. The hospitality was poor as the reception staff were also the bar staff. If we wanted food we were told to go to a pub right down the road.
