Bear Hotel by Greene King Inns

Badeværelsedør kunne ikke lukke grundet skævt gulv. Rådne vinduer. Vi havde fået et værelse der var koblet til et andet værelse med en tynd dør. Vi kunne høre alt hvad den åbenbart syge person inde ved siden af foretog sig herunder hosten, snotten, fisen osv. og han kunne dermed høre alt hvad vi fortog os( som var man i samme rum ) alt i værelset og på hotellet var meget nedslidt. Da vi nævnte det i receptionen blev der sagt at det beklagede de. Ikke andet. Ikke ligefrem det billigste værelse og det blev en skuffende oplevelse.

This hotel has seen better days. However, the staff were lovely, the room was comfortable. Convenient location for commuting by train. Shame there was no hairdryer in the room, which is a basic expectation.

Second stay and was as good as the first the second stay the room was a bit dated but comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and the food was amazing would highly recommend staying here. 5*****

Large room, with ok bed but thin walls. Pub is closed and hotel bar a bit dark and empty. For breakfast they had unbuttered bread under the eggs instead of buttered toast, which was odd. Overall a bit run down, but it is in a good location and there is parking.

On arrival I was informed that I had only booked a single room. Ok my mistake obviously. However, on requesting a double and being told there wasn't any rooms available, the receptionist was rather unhelpful and quite rude as she proceeded to tell me that I had only single occupancy and emphasised that I had not booked breakfast. We have stayed there before and whilst accepting that it is an old victorian style building, I was not expecting the receptionist to be from those days. Manners cost nothing and a little bit of compassion towards our dilemma would not have gone amiss. We will not book here again.
